Fae and Fare
Return to the Innverse in Fae & Fare, Volume 1, the second novel in the massive epic fantasy world that has become a LitRPG sensation, where cities are rebuilt, more chess is played, friendships are formed, intrigues grow, and the Wandering Inn…moves.
The monster known as Skinner has been destroyed, but the battle still lingers for Erin as she deals with the loss of so much, including the adventurers—the Horns of Hammerad--both she and Ryoka have befriended. Yet even with so much death, life must go on, including Ryoka and Erin finding out they have one very important thing in common. They’re both from the real world.
Even more: they’re not the only ones.
But as much as they want to find others like them, they both also need to survive. The first thing they need is money, especially after the Wandering Inn, um…accidentally explodes. So Ryoka takes on bigger runners’ assignments and Erin…makes hamburgers.
They also need to level up (at least, in Erin’s case) and get stronger, because winter is here, bringing with it new monsters, annoying snow sprites, and a dark legend reborn.
Every day is a new adventure in the Innverse, but no matter what, there’s still time for chess.

I realize why I love these books
I have someone to root for, reason to root for them, and plenty of people to interact with said person

I absolutely flew through the first few books of The Wandering Inn and remember thinking, wow… this series is something special. The world feels huge, alive, and incredibly well thought out, with so many storylines and characters somehow all weaving together into something that just works.
What really kept me hooked early on was Erin and Ryoka (forgive me if I’m spelling that wrong 😅). Their stories pulled me in fast, and I loved how the series balances emotional moments, humour, chaos, adventure, politics, and genuinely wild worldbuilding. There’s always something happening, and the cast becomes massive in a way that somehow still feels fun rather than overwhelming.
Books 1–3 completely grabbed me. Book 4 felt slower for me, and I actually drifted a bit during book 5 and ended up taking a break. After reading other things and coming back to it though, I found myself enjoying it again and remembered why I liked the series so much in the first place. Even when it slowed down, the world and characters were still enough to keep me invested.
These audiobooks are absolutely gigantic (seriously, they are a commitment 😅), but they feel like living in a world for a while rather than just reading a story. Not every section hooked me equally, and I missed having more Erin in later parts, but overall this has been such a fun, ambitious, character-filled series that I’m still excited to continue. Onto the next one.

Long story but the words flow like a fast river. The current twist, splits and spills over rocks with the pull of gravity taking one to a destiny in the great ocean.
Many assorted and interesting characters. Fun world / Universe building. Plots overlap with other plots.

I am rereading the series and still looking it. I love reading the story again and understanding the story ahead. I can now see how it was getting there. Seeing the little Easter eggs throughout is very fun.

I tried and tried but couldn't get through the Internet type trolling and flaming. I get enough of that crap in the real world.

I thought this one started a bit slow, but things definitely picked up later. I really like how far the story spreads with different story lines that are all connected underneath. Good stuff.

I keep saying I’m not going to read the next one because they are 1000 pages long and then I get sucked into the world and must continue. It’s a great Lit RPG. I love the series!
