Legacies of Betrayal: The Third Tale of Witness: A Novel of the Malazan World

Rate this book
New York Times bestselling author Steven Erikson continues his beloved Malazan Book of the Fallen—the iconic epic fantasy series with millions of copies sold worldwide—with the third book in the thrilling Tales of Witness series.

Endless training, grueling marches, and the frenzy of battle against more enemies than can be counted, such is the life of a marine in the Malazan Empire. Year by year, month by month, week by week, day by day, moment by moment. Skills honed to deadly precision, the secret language of the soldier in a world drowning in perpetual discontent, the eternal conflict against the fates.

As a new holy war starts sparked in the fire-blackened cauldron of Seven Cities, the Fifth and Sixth squads are about to embark a mission they don't want. Not that anybody asked them. They can only hope that their objective isn't as hopeless as it seems, that they aren't a strategic sacrifice in machinations of their betters.

What's life like as a marine in the Malazan Army?

Well, let's see, shall we.

Greatly enjoyed

What can I say? Typical Erickson malaz novel. A well written story ( limited ramblings) with a mostly all new cast of unique characters that will keep you in stitches all through the pending crisis. We get a few cool reveals and some past history references that will satisfy the reader. About three quarters through I realized that this story doesn't advance the storyline, but expands it. Not often that the first three books happen at the same point in time, but it does. Don't get excited for karsa, he's still a no show.

Another good book by Steven Erikson

Enjoyed this installment of Witness and how this added to the pantheon of lore and comedy that is crucial in the Malazan world.
