What can I say. When one is stupid you pay for it.
This is so simplistic. So ordinary. So predictable.
And 4 books. I admit I'm was played for a fool. I paid for them. Lmao
There's barely one interaction between the mcs. Like I thought, everything is a misunderstanding and the female mc is running away again.
I have zero sympathy for her. And the male mc does nothing for me.
The old ow setting up a situation with the male mc so the female mc would catch them in a very compromising position.
Let's add a ridiculous kind of love triangle. There's this other pathetic man who's interested in the female mc and she's kind of attracted to him. O geezus!! Can it get more ridiculous?? Yes it can.
It seems like the female mc will be really conflicted between the 2 betas in these books. Bahahahaha
Let me be clear. I'm enjoying the silliness of these books. At least I know what's coming before I read and it becomes a game with myself where I try to guess what's going to be next.

***SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ BOOK 1***
First let me say that while I loved Black part one I was a little disappointed with Black part two. Book 2 begins where book 1 ended.
Sophie is in a private dining room with Wade at Club Addiction. She’s in awe of the surroundings and impressed that Wade would take her to someplace so nice. She actually feels good about herself again. I mean really… a good looking, well off man pays special attention to her. He is the perfect gentleman with perfect manners and he seems to be enjoying her company at an elegant club.
While everything seems to be going so well the sound of a certain man’s voice turns Sophie into stone. Calvin has come into the private room to schmooze with his “important” clients and he accidentally overhears Sophie talking with Wade. Calvin immediately heads over to Wade’s table and introduces himself to Wade. They chat politely and then Calvin hints that he wants to be introduced to Sophie. At this point we already know that Calvin and Sophie know each other but Sophie acts as if she not only doesn’t know Calvin but she acts as if Calvin makes her skin crawl. Wade being oblivious doesn’t understand why Sophie all of a sudden feels sick and insists on going home. (Without him.)
We eventually find out why Sophie doesn’t want to see Calvin and honestly who can blame her but the author leads us to believe that we’re missing part of a bigger picture. Maybe Sophie should talk to Calvin about their past. We are given the evidence of Calvin doing something wrong but we’re also led to believe that there’s more to the story than what we see on the surface. Very curious!
The story has been very interesting up to this point and then it seems like there’s some filler. It’s not horrible but it is repetitive filler or unnecessary filler. But shortly things get interesting again.
Sophie decides that for her to move forward with her life and to maybe move forward with Wade she needs to go and face Calvin about their past. Once Sophie finally goes to see Calvin the unthinkable happens and you guessed it…it’s a cliff hanger! Ugh! I can’t stand it!
Calvin and Sophie both suffer through some serious mixed emotions in Black part 2. Wade is kind of an unknown but not out of the picture for book 3.
I liked this book and would recommend it to my friends. I was given a copy of this novella for an honest review.

These are the first books from this author I have read and I must admit I waited until I read all 4 ‘Black’ books before leaving my review, so all my reviews are the same, and can say I really enjoyed them 😊 ok there were bits when you were 😳 but on the whole I really liked the, and practically read straight through! Will definitely be reading more from this author 😊

WOWZA! I love it! This is my first time reading Harper's work and it certainly won't be my last. Harper seems to have that certain something - you know, that exceptional ability some authors seem to have been blessed with by the grantor of muses - they can somehow manage to reach right into your thoughts and grab your attention completely in the first few lines of the book. Yep, Harper has that in spades. And she has demonstrated her exceptional talent brilliantly in this first installment of her amazing new Black Series. The story is exciting, thrilling, entertaining, addictive, compelling, riveting, enticing, arousing, sensual and steamy. The dialog is smart, intelligent, witty, well written and flows effortlessly. The characters are engaging, fascinating, captivating and sexy as sin. Calvin Black is handsome, intelligent and wealthy. He owns the exclusive Club Addictions in New York City and he's King in his little corner of the world. Yep, he's a smooth operator and he has it all, anything and anyone he desires - except her - the one that got away. Use em and lose em - that's his philosophy! I like that we finally get to learn more about the characters in the story, I love the chemistry Calvin and Sofie have and you can tell they both still love each other even if they thought it was over all this time. I was shocked when I read that they had been together for years and were almost engaged. I have an idea of what happened the night when their relationship ended and based off the ending of this book I think the situations are similar. I think that girl Charlotte is really trashy and how she just barges in on him and takes such liberties, I do not like her at all. I have to admit Kelly tricked me with a certain thing that happened at Sofie's apartment, I was about to scream, but I won't say anymore so not to ruin it. I love what Calvin does to get her attention and then how he acts like he is talking to a group of people but you can tell he is talking right to her. Then how he actually speaks up not caring who hears him or sees him is great and finally she gives in and tells him she might talk to him, she will think about it but we know that means she will. Then finally she gets up the courage and the worst thing happens, I am so angry how this ended, so once again he is caught in a strange position with a woman and again he does not have a chance to explain, you are killing me Kelly. How long until the next book, I really hope he gets to explain himself right away so this too doesn't get dragged out, there is already so much stuff that needs to be cleared up.

I am loving this series so far each part gives you just enough of the story to keep you happy but leaves enough mystery to have you wanting more. This part gives us more Sophie who how can you not adore? Don't worry this still plenty of sexy Calvin but it's nice to get more insight into Sophie's feelings about the whole situation. I don't want to give anything away so I'll say this is so worth a read. It's not a standalone as it is part of a series so if you don't like waiting ot know what's next you can wait till all the books are out but if you enjoy the anticipation of what's to come read this now! Well only after you read part 1 :-)

Enjoyable second book in the series ….
This is the second installment in the Black Series by Kelly Harper. So this picks up right where the first in the series left off and we are getting some answers to questions that were raised in the first book, but not a lot.
Calvin, we find out in this book cheated on Sofie and there are more unanswered questions and the book finishes on another cliffy. This is the only problem with books that are divided like this is the waiting in between each release, but they are worth waiting for.
We have a little more character development in this part, which is great, and the dual POVs help to understand their different perspectives. I am kind of pulling for Wade to be honest, he seems like such a catch.
I am sitting here waiting for part three now, because I really want to know what happens. I enjoyed this part of the series, although not a lot happened. I give this a well-deserved four star rating.

Well now we know what Calvin's problem is, he cheated on Sophie years ago and hasn't seen her since, but lo and behold she is at his club Addiction. Problem is Calvin never got over Sophie and now he sees her and doesn't know if he is upset cause she's with another man, or if he's just so happy to finally see her.
Sophie cannot believe her luck, the only man she has ever loved and who hurt and spoiled her for any other man all those years ago, is right here. The first time she decides to take a chance with another man and he spoils it for her again!
Calvin begs Sophie to talk to him, but when she finally decides to go see him and give him a chance to talk, she is given the biggest surprise, but no it shouldn't surprise her, it's Deja'vu.
OMG Kelly, you have to hurry and get book 3 done!!

I absolutely love Kelly Harper and have read every one of her books. This series is just as amazing as the others and I love the cliffhangers. The relationship between Calvin and Sophie is heartbreaking. To be that in love with someone and turn yourself around to try and prove your love to them and have someone else take that away from you is horrible. I feel sorry for Sophie because she is ready to listen to Calvin and walks into what she thinks is him having sex with someone else after begging for a opportunity to explain himself is earth shattering to her and Calvin getting that chance and someone taking it away from him like that is down right upsetting. Will Calvin ever get the chance to explain or is it already too late?

We pick up from last time and it was way better. We get more answers. Still some left out. We know he cheated. But there is for sure more to the story than is being told. I simply am dying. I want to read part 3 NOW! I need to know what he says. And when she walked in on what was going on, ugh. I had a feeling that was going to happen. Way to put your foot in your mouth, Black. This installment was as short and sweet as the last. But even better. And very hot! I am itching to find out what really happened with Calvin. And Wade is kinda creeping me out now. I dunno, don't trust the guy anymore. Really interesting story and cannot wait to see where it goes. Another great series by Kelly!

I mean, I had a lot of questions at the beginning of the book and now I'm left with the same ones. Practically we don't get to discover anything new about their past and relationship except that he cheated. Well, that's not such a big surprise. I was expecting that. Just like I expect him to give a good explanation and make us change our minds about what really happened that night.
But still, I want more action. I want them to actually talk and what the heck? To sleep together. That should spice things up a little. Make things more interesting.

This is another great book by Kelly Harper! Black: Part 2 picks up where part 1 left off with Calvin and Sofie face to face after years. The tension is palpable that's for sure. Calvin wants her back, but she is so hurt by his past betrayal. He tries to pull out all the stops to get her to just listen to him. Sofie is at war with her feelings. This has another OMG cliffhanger that has me needing to know what happens next.

These cliffhangers are going to ruin me!!! They are good, I hate waiting, and am anticipating the next book. I loved that we got more character information in this book, and details about the past relationship between Calvin and Sofie. I was surprised how long they were together and how serious it was. I am still not quite sure what Wade is up to, but it should be interesting. Regardless another great book, and I can't wait for what comes next.

Wow this series is getting better and better. The story continues from book 1. Sophia finally sees her ex Calvin while she was having drinks with Wade. Calvin tries everything to explain what happen in the past. Calvin is going to do anything he can to see her again. Wade wants more with Sophia. Sophia decided to meet up with Calvin to give closure. Loving this short story. Can't wait it download book 3

Why was he apparently cheating on her but now wants to explain? What is Drew's angle in all of this? So many questions and too much time until we get answers. Write quickly, KH, please!

Calvin never thought he would ever see Sofie again. He spends his life since trying to get her out of his mind. Yet, now with a stroke of luck he find her again. He will do anything to get her just to listen to him. Will Sofie give him a chance? Does he deserve it? I can't wait to read the rest of the story!

Oh Calvin! He has never gotten over the one that got away but here she is and with another guy! He can't leave her alone and wants a second chance. Sophie was hurt by Calvin when she caught him with another woman. Now she just wants closure but he wants a second chance. Hmmm. Cliff hanger and now we have to wait for the next installment.

I am really enjoying this story about Calvin and Sofie. There is clearly something in their past and they need to each have closure in order to move on from it and I cannot wait to find out what it is. I love the chemistry between them but I've got to say that Wade gives me the creeps! Not sure when part 3 is released but I hope it's soon.

I was looking forward to this part of the series, and it certainly didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the book the whole way through and REALLY can't wait for the 3rd part. The ending was like, WHAT?
If you enjoy a sexy male who still loves "the one that got away" then you'll enjoy this book. I'd recommend it!

Part two begins where part 1 ends. Calvin and Sofie finally meet again. It is obvious that they are attracted to each other and they still love each other.
But what is Wade up to? He must be doing something.
Can Sofie get the answers she needs from Calvin and can Calvin be the man Sofie needs? I can't believe he would do this to her again.

At the end of this book I don’t know if I feel more for Sophie or for Calvin. This series definitely keeps you wanting more. I can wait for book 3! I highly recommend this book, this series, this author!
