"Washington morning traffic was light," has never been said nor written by someone who has actually seen Washington, DC, traffic.

The smex scenes are really gRape-y. She says things like no and stop and he keeps going then her body betrays her and she tells him not to stop. WTH? This is not smexy.

I hate Cassian.

Luna is lactose intolerant. At 72% she is eating ice cream and drinking milk. She's a prima ballerina. Hope she enjoys that painful bloat and gas.

Very good

I really liked this one. The OW manipulated him and when he was drunk, she gave him a hickey twice but nothing happened between them. She wanted him too but both times he was drunk. He didn't want to but he did admit he used her as a sound board and let her cross boundaries. You think? he fired her finally. He was just cold to the h and she put up with it until she heard him drunkenly say some very very vile things about her. It broke her heart so she left. And guess what? You won't believe this plot twist! She was pregnant! Be still my heart! So original right?? Lol I think I've read 20 books in the last two weeks with that plot twist. Then bam, its six years later and she is a Prima Ballerina in London with a little girl. She goes back to Washington for one month engagement and of course runs into hero. He has been celibate for six years because he realized he loved his wife. He never signed the divorce papers either. He wants another chance but its back and forth and back and forth. Meanwhile Cassian is getting close with his sweet little daughter. Only she told him, it wasn't his! That little girl was the best part off the book. She'd was so endearing. She'd pretend he was her real dad him learning to braid her hair was so cute and I loved it. Then he took her to a 'Taylor' concert and he sang along with the songs because he crammed on them the night before. It was so sweet. Of course there is more drama and honestly the heroine started to annoy me. The hero wasn't perfect either. But its definitely worth the read.

Notes for me

Cassian

Luna

Sloane - Cassian’s secretary

Cassian misses their third anniversary so she takes soup to his office after hours.

She finds his secretary Sloane half dressed in his lap. When Cassian turns to her he looks out of it. She leaves heartbroken.

Next night is a gala. Sloane makes it look like Luna threw her drink on her and ripped her dress. Out of the two women Cassian helps Sloane.

Reader knows what’s in Cassian’s mind. He’s believing Sloane was heartbroken in the office about a breakup and thought Cassian was him. Also he helped her first only to stop a scandal. He doesn’t realize Luna fell on the broken glass.

Last straw Cassian promises to make everything up on her birthday. His sister shows a sapphire necklace he’s bought her. At 10 pm Sloane calls saying he’s drunk at a VIP club. She hurries to get him. Hears him say she’s boring in bed, only a business deal etc. she opens the door. Sloane is sitting close to him and wearing the necklace.

Luna leaves for London and Cassian loses his mind.

Six years later she’s a successful ballerina raising his daughter.

Safety

Almost didn’t read because the only review on Amazon said on page cheating.

It sounded to me like no cheating. Sloane just set it up to look that way. However he should have handled her after the office scene. In his mind nothing happened, but the fact that Sloane pulled that nonsense was not ok. He does end up confronting her. Too little too late.

Also what happened with the necklace?

He was absolutely celibate during the 6 years.

This book desperately needs an editor. The timelines don’t make sense. Sentences drop off. It’s just poorly written. The storyline is all over the place.

The MMC definitely rapes the FMC and not in a dark romance dubious consent way. He’s literally just an asshole. He cheats and forces the FMC to sleep with him as part of his apology. Multiple times.

First time FMC finds him with the OW drunk in his office on their anniversary. He has hickeys from the OW and wakes up tangled in her. He swears nothing beyond the hickeys happened but he also says when he wakes up he doesn’t remember anything. Then he has the audacity to have the OW come help his wife get ready for a special gala. Second time he believes the OW over her and yells and hurts her defending the OW in front of the entire gala. Tells her to find a ride home and stays and parties till 3 a.m.

Let’s talk about the final straw the time he forgets her birthday to take the OW out with friends where the OW wears the FMC’s birthday necklace and he belittles the FMC to an entire group of people. He wakes up, again with hickeys. Eff this guy.

Again there is a surprise kid and the MMC is a good dad so it melts the FMC. Shit partners can still be good dads. No need to get back together and I wish they didn’t.

Not good

This had a lot of issues. First of all, the husband takes advantage of wife physically early on in an illegal way. Women could claim assault. It was not an enjoyable scene. Second, he sent Sloane to style her. He’s a POS and the fact the author wanted to save him was so disappointing. Lastly, it’s written like a teenager wrote it. Not very high-thinking dialogue. Needs lots of work and a new MMC and a non-doormat fmc who literally takes expensive jewelry and says his cheating is fine.

No no no

Spoilers

Did not even want read it past 2 chapters. 1st chapter she catches him cheating but he was drunk and it doesn't count. Happen to be on thier anniversary.
He yells at her, she leaves. Next day he goes home, he grapes hers. Because forcing her to have sex shows she is hers.

She is weak and disgusting, you know he cheated and you stay and you give into the force sex.

Yea, im done dont care. He will always cheat like his dad and she will always stay.

Interesting…

Okay, this MMC is a moron. Plus he’s emotionally stunted and drinks too much. He has a secretary who is a wannabe and constantly lies to the FMC, his wife.

He forgets about their anniversary and when she goes to his office, he’s there drunk and that wannabe is sprawled all over him. Then he promises to go home on her birthday and when she gets a call to pick his drunk butt up, once again the wannabe is there, and wearing the necklace he bought the FMC as a birthday gift. But he continues to blame her instead of that bitch wannabe.

She’s finally had it, drives away and gets in an accident. She is actually okay, but she signs divorce papers and leaves for Europe.

Six years later…

KU and this has a few errors but overall the story was pretty interesting and the characters were fine. The FMC was too door matty in the beginning but she did somewhat shape up. The wannabe got found out and fired, along with being blacklisted. She shows up again much later in the book and is just insane. So overall this was better than average and I liked this one.

This book was just... not good. The MMC belittles her multiple times, sexually assaults her, and he somehow can't understand why she left and didn't tell him about the baby? His turnaround came across as too... convenient, too. I didn't believe it.

The whole time he was an asshole. He knew he was an asshole and needed to change, and yet he still didn't. When she came back, he "played" like he had changed, and yet at the first sign that he wasn't going to get his way, he did a quick about face and became the asshole again.

I had issues believing either of them had feelings for each other. The author didn't really convey them well. Sure, she told us, but i didn't feel it or believe it. That's why i don't trust his personality change at all. He literally sexually assaulted her as soon as she came back. That doesn't say Love to me.

I do not recommend this. Even the drama is just cringey.

After the 3rd marital rape scene, I'm done (at 40%).

Also, there was never any explanation for how the drunk situations with his secretary came about? Like this super controlled man just got totally wasted for no reason? Give me something plausible here.

second chance

This story confused me- Cassian is terrible and had no concept of consent. He was selfish and creepy and basically treated Luna like total crap. His secretary was gross and he chose the secretary in many instances. He did change by the end.

Luna left him and was a huge doormat for much of the book. I had a hard time connecting to any of the characters much of the book. You find out back stories and the people grow so it ended well with HEA.

Why on earth would a woman ever take a man like that back? Can you say toxic? Is she desperate? Can’t find a decent man? So she’s going to go back to that fool all because she ended up in his state while in tour? The man is a walking red flag! Run, don’t walk. And don’t look back. What kind of example is she setting for her daughter? Talk about setting the bar low. Poor girl. This story was just straight up awful.
Spousal abuse mentally and emotionally. But yeah, let’s that that loser back.

I genuinely hate this book.

I absolutely hate the surprise pregnancy trope, but that's not even my biggest issue. The entire story falls apart halfway through because the male lead's behavior makes no logical sense.

We're supposed to believe he loves his wife, yet he repeatedly lets his secretary cross every possible boundary. She leaves hickeys on him, constantly creates situations that make it look like they slept together, follows him everywhere, becomes his wife's shopper, party partner, and club companion. Since when is a secretary also a personal companion outside the office?

Then every time there's another incident with the secretary, he goes home and forces intimacy with his wife instead of dealing with the actual problem. What kind of logic is that?

And let's talk about the double standard. If the roles were reversed, if the wife's secretary kept leaving marks on her, making it look like they were sleeping together, and would husband was expected to calmly accept her explanation every single time? I seriously doubt it.

The moment I completely gave up on this book was when he shoved his wife in front of everyone, made her hand bleed, and didn't even bother to look back. After that, I couldn't root for him anymore.

Then, out of nowhere, I'm supposed to believe he's suddenly deeply in love, completely faithful, and a changed man? After chapter after chapter of behavior that screamed the opposite? It's lazy writing.

DNF

You know those short books that advertise apps or those short little movies, again that you get an app to watch, that show up on FB or TikTok? How over the top and cheesy they are? But sometimes they’re so awful that it’s hard to look away or stop reading…this book is like those. The MMC is SO bad that he doesn’t have any personality at all, the FMC finally leaves him after being neglected and harassed by his female assistant and moves to London. She then becomes, after YEARS away from dance and a pregnancy (yes, she’s pregnant when she leaves the MMC), the lead dancer for the Royal Ballet. The main characters encounter each other again five or six years later when company tours the U.S. and the first stop is DC. I mostly skimmed after this point but they got back together. This was a case of being fooled by a cover, the failed, second-chance marriage trope has been done so well in so many other books, unfortunately this wasn’t one.

A Sinful Gravity

I really loved this second chance at love story! The main two characters were really well developed and believable. Cassio was a horrible husband who ridiculed and regularly humiliated his wife Luna, taking her love for him completely for granted. Once she leaves him to start a new life in London, he realizes what a mistake he has made. When she returns for a ballet performance the story unfolds! They both change in ways neither of them could for see, and the heart of the story begins. If you love second chance love stories you will really enjoy this one.

I am generally a fan of the grovel trope, but not this time. A grown-ass man who apparently never matured beyond the middle school “be mean to the girl you have a crush on” phase, who, after six years of apparent self reflection and realizing his wife leaving him was entirely his fault, still is enraged when she doesn’t come back to him just because he said he was sorry. Oh, and he repeatedly rapes her because “her body tells the truth.” You can do so much better than this predatory manchild, girl.

A hard road to happiness

Ms. Cross did a heartfelt plot. It has a lot of emotions throughout with a lot of obstacles in this couple's journey. The downs far out reach the ups initially.

The characters are so real. Cassian did a lot of growing and changing over the length of the book. Thank goodness cause he was an obnoxious jerk at the beginning.

I highly recommend A Sinful Gravity. You'll start it and not want to put it down.

😐😐😐

I had to stop reading this book. Though Luna and Cassian were still legally married, he practically raped her twice. Once when they were still living together which I'm assuming when Laylah was conceived. The other time when she came to Washington to perform when he came to her apartment. If he can act like this with his wife still, how can they stay married especially with a daughter in the mix.

Glad I stuck around

I have to admit the beginning really felt like a blurb on FB for the Pay by Chapter apps. Especially the blame without research, and not noticing the OW is what she was, seriously overplayed. I’m glad I stuck around for Laila’s character, and his backstory. Luna got on my nerves after a while, but right when I was about to let go BAM! It’s a cliche kinda climax, but it worked🤷🏽‍♀️

this being +300 pages!?

Okay this was not that good. At the beginning, she was being too much of a doormat. The MFC gets hurt and the MMC just ignores her? And the fact that she told him “no” multiple times during 🌶️ scenes and he ignored her? Yeah no gracias. This shouldn’t have been more than three hundred pages, a good ole 100 would have been enough 😭

This book is so poorly written that it was giving me a headache. At first I thought this was AI generated, but I quickly dismissed the thought, because even AI would write better. The inconsistencies are staggering, and the ridiculous scenes are laughable. Not only unrealistic, but completely absurd and preposterous. Do not waste your time with this one. I only made it to about 50%.

conflicted somewhat

The first parts of this I really did not like Cassian. He was cold and controlling. Twice he basically forced himself on her but told himself that wanted him so it was okay. Even though she said stop. That turned me off a lot. But throughout the book he manages to redeem himself and turns soft. But I really found his early behavior atrocious.

Ugh! So much promise

Honestly I hate when I DNF a book. I really tried but I just really didn’t like the MFC. Honestly the MMC was a jerk, but I felt she was a b.@&$ with regard to him and his daughter. And I was disappointed in his sister too.

it would be good if it wasn’t for Chloe

She meddles too much and literally treats her brother like sht. For once, she could have sided with HER BROTHER. But no, every time she talked to him, she made him seem like scum. I get it he messed up but nope, she just pulled against him.

This was unreadable. The writing was bad, details were constantly changing, half of the sentences were fragmented, and the grammar was atrocious.
Also, the mmc rapes his wife (the fmc) and apparently we are just supposed to gloss over that.

I read the first 25% of this book and skimmed the rest. I cannot give it more than 1 star because I refuse to read books where the protagonist is an abuser and a rapist. Making Cassien commit these acts ruined the story for me.
