I love this first issue of Future Proof. The writing is just satisfying. There's even a two-page spread of full-on exposition and I don't even care because I could see how drawing all of that out would have taken forever to read, and would have had a higher probability of feeling trite or boring. The art is current but has a classic sensibility that I really enjoy. This issue was about the 60s, and the art looked like the 60s, or felt like the 60s. I wonder how the next decade will be done. Either way, this team has their own style, and understands story pacing--these things can be severely botched, so it's nice to see a smaller or indie comic done so well on both aspects. I can't wait to finish the series, and then everything else thev're written. ((I love it when the stuff you pick up on a lark exceeds the hopes you held for it! ... so, now, temper your expectations, just in case, but then also go buy this set.))
