“Pip is one of the best assassins in the business. He is loyal to no one.."
Forever a loner, I've spent my life focusing on the money I can make and the bodies I can drop along the way. It's not a fun time if someone doesn't meet their maker.
And then I met Henny.
His uptight attitude has me wanting to smile like an idiot every moment we're together. I annoy him to no end simply by existing. Or so he says.
I'll wear him down soon enough. If I don't, well then, there's always love by force. That's totally how you get to happily ever after, right?
Touch features a chaos gremlin who has eyes for only one man, the type-A second-in-command who has to be in control, a found family of mafia men, and the journey to love. There is no third act breakup here since Pip is dedicated to claiming his Henny and won't stand for anything less than happily ever after.
Touch is the third book in the Devious Mafia Daddies series by A.W. Scott. This is the story of Pip and Henri. I really liked their story. Their story was sweet, thrilling, exciting, sexy, full of feels and very well written.
I love me a good mafia story, so I grabbed this one right away. Pip is the dark horse here. He’s an assassin who revels in his job and the blood and gore of it, especially when it’s taking out bad guys. He had a pretty awful childhood which directly sent him down the career path he is now on. When he takes a job for Pharrel, the head of the Vegas mafia family, a new family he does end up finding. He sets his sights on the right hand man, Henri, whom he calls Henny, although it takes a few years before he actually pursues anything.
Over this time, Pip gains the trust of Pharrel, and in turn, Henny. Eventually, Pip pushes enough that their mutual attraction is no longer a secret to either of them. It’s all about control with these two, although it ends up being a bit different than expected. Henny is always in control, manages and organizes everything and Pip is no different. Pip has to convince Henny that he is ok with Henny taking control and this goes a bit deeper when the joking “Daddy” stuff comes out. Turns out Pip is all on board with taking the Daddy/Boy stuff seriously. One of Henny’s other hang-ups about taking things further with Pip concerns their work and having to remain focused on that. The Daddy name calling got a bit too much for me at times which made it feel less genuine, but that is probably just my issue.
As far as the work goes, it is really more interspersed throughout the Pip/Henny interactions. There are some issues going on within the mafia world that require some major focus, as the danger is ramped up for all involved and Pip’s services are needed. I was really hoping this aspect of the story was more involved, and I really wanted more details on Pharrel and Ricardo’s relationship. Ricardo is brought in to be Pharrel’s second, but we never really find out why or that they even have something more going on, although Pip hints at it often enough. Perhaps there will be more to come in this world where we will delve deeper into the family. For now, I found this to be an enjoyable read, violence and gore aside, and look forward to more from this author.
Pip is a deadly, chaos‑loving assassin who’s always worked alone — until he meets Henny, the strict, controlled second‑in‑command who seems immune to his charm. Pip can’t resist pushing his buttons, and the tension between them only grows. Surrounded by their found‑family of mafia men, Pip sets his sights on winning Henny over, determined to claim the man he wants and carve out their own version of a happily ever after.
A strikingly intimate story built on the powerful connection between Pip and Henny — two men who fit together in ways neither expected. I loved how Henny brought order, steadiness, and care into Pip’s chaotic world, giving him the structure he never knew he needed. And in return, Pip offered Henny purpose, devotion, and a kind of trust that felt deeply earned. Their dynamic flips the usual script: Pip may be the dangerous one, but the love between them is absolute. This is a different kind of Daddy/boy story, one where the emotional balance is as compelling as the power exchange, and where their bond grows through loyalty, vulnerability, and sheer determination. A quick, engaging read with a relationship that feels both intense and unexpectedly tender. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic.
A scorching hot, emotional, and shockingly hilarious wild ride.
Set parallel to the events in Fixate, Touch follows unhinged assassin Pip as he doggedly pursues strait-laced second in command Henri, while protecting Mafia boss Pharrell (and them all) from those who are out for revenge.
By far my favorite of the series, and that’s saying something because I loved them all. Pip is the most lovable, charming, chaotic, blood thirsty character and I couldn’t help but become immediately obsessed. He was hysterical and vulnerable and was the perfect person to break down Henri’s carefully constructed walls and iron control. While being the perfect compliment to it as they stumbled head first into a power dynamic where they both thrived.
Seeing the same riveting events from Fixate unfold from Pip and Henri’s perspectives was amazing and still had me on the edge of my seat. This found family of morally-grey Mafia daddies and their murder-boys has me in a chokehold and I cannot WAIT for JJ’s book.
What you’ll get: •Mafia Romance •Hired Killer/2nd in Command •Opposites Attract •Accidental Daddy kink •Unhinged MC •Perhaps undiagnosed ADHD •Control •Nightmares •Childhood trauma •Hurt/Comfort •Found Family
I really enjoyed Pip and Henri’s story! I had been looking forward and so glad I read it. I love a good mafia story. A badass assassin and a mafia boss’ right hand man are right up my alley. Two dangerous guys who are both possessive but one is more submissive, count me in. This was a quick and light hearted mafia story (as much as it can be for an assassin and right hand mafia man) but it was definitely a great read!
The only thing I was hoping for was more plot. I know that there was a plot with the mafia etc, but I was hoping for more description of it all. I was also hoping for a bigger build up of Pip and Henri’s relationship. While Pip had been pining over Henri for years, I was hoping Henri would have had a little more pining too. They seemed to jump right in.
With that being said, I still really enjoyed the book a lot! I love all of A.W. Scott’s books and I cannot wait to read more!
went on a wild goose chase for this book, i needed to see how pip and henny would play out.
mafia daddy/boy written well doesn’t always happen so when this is the third book the series! love to see it!
again, similar to the previous book, it feels rushed and could definitely be a 4 star read if some scenes were fleshed out a little longer and a 5 star read if there were some heart aching scenes between them (just my personal preference)
i find it a little unfulfilling as we get towards the end because the dynamic between them only exists through name calling as daddy and boy and not necessarily in practice. i think that’s sometimes what tends to happen is that the daddy kink is just that merely a kink for the name although there was so much potential.
the first time they collide and pip is sat on his desk only connecting through hennys hand on his face and boom 💥 sparks fly. that was my favourite moment and i feel like nothing compared.
Touch by A.W. Scott is a mafia love story where a chaos-loving assassin meets his match in a strict, controlled second-in-command daddy. Pip is a deadly, blood-and-gore-loving assassin who is basically a beautiful ball of chaos. After a horrific childhood, he’s spent his life working alone, until he meets Henri (aka Henny), the right-hand man to the Vegas mafia head. Pip can’t resist pushing Henny’s buttons, and watching him spend years slowly gaining trust and carving his way into this mafia family was everything. This script flips the usual mafia tropes. It’s a BDSM-style Daddy/boy dynamic where Pip has to convince Henny that he wants to be taken care of. I did find that this book had a lack of depth in the plot, like yes things were happening but it didn’t really provide much to the story. and the buildup to the relationship was slow at first, but then it gives in suddenly, they have one issue, then all is resolved and no more angst at all. The buildup didn’t match all the years of pining pip did for henri. It was a quick light hearted mafia read that did make me giggle and smile.
Pip has been the steady presence/feral murder goblin - throughout this series, and he's also sort of hilarious. Since getting more involved in Pharrell and Ricardo's business and staying long term, he's had more time to tease stiff upper lip Henri. And it's such fun. There's violence, betrayal, battles, laughter love and lots of spice.
Love seeing the inner workings of a happy psycho. He and Henri are perfect for each other!! Love seeing him settling into life…fun to watch his domestic bliss with a side of murder.
This was a great addition to series. I enjoyed seeing Pip and Henny connect and their relationship grow. I liked how they could be their most vulnerable selves with each other. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
