Before the Submarine #10

Laws of War: War of the Submarine: Book 10

Rate this book
Captain Alex Coleman is not prepared to wait for rescue. He plans to make his own luck.
After eight months at Russia’s most brutal prisoner of war camp, Captain Alex Coleman figures he’s seen it all. He’s lost friends. He’s been tortured. Worst of all, he’s learned that he can’t trust his second-in-command any more than a hungry tiger on Taco Tuesday.

With the prisoners’ first escape attempt ending in betrayal, Alex knows he must think outside the box. The problem is that he’s a submariner, not some Recon Marine with hand-to-hand combat experience. Alex prefers his hair-raising danger in the form of torpedoes and missiles. Facing off with Russians determined to wrench secrets out of his people is a unique kind of torture, yet Alex is far too much of a leader to sit with his head in his hands. He knows he must take action, but what?

World War III has raged across oceans, continents, and beneath the sea’s surface for two years. The major powers all know the rules by now, but what no one has encountered is a desperate Alex Coleman. Desperation breeds creativity, and this former maker of coffee creamer fireballs is also unorthodox enough to try the take over an entire POW Camp.

The Russians will never know what hit them, but can Alex and his people survive their bid for freedom?

Laws of War is a visceral, up-close look into the experience of a modern prisoner of war, serving up equal servings of war, leadership, and loyalty in the tradition of the War of the Submarine. It also completes the mid-series duology started in Code of Conduct.

What can I say? It went the way I thought it might but that's not a criticism. It's been a long drag from when Alex was taken to the secret PoW camp after his boat went down but the story has been really good and has kept up the pace of the previous instalments. Unfortunately, the next one in the series won' be out for another few weeks so I'll have to wait to see how it al plays out - That sounds a bit vague but to say more would introduce spoilers! Really good book - Read all the others in the series, in order, before getting to this one or it won't make sense!

I'm so grateful to R.G. Roberts for sharing her story telling talents, especially with the release of her, " War of the Submarine" series. What an emotional ride full of intrigue, twists and surprise as well as bravery, loyalty and honor. I actually hate to see this series end with Alex and company. I can envision a time when his daughter, Bobbie, will get her own boat and Emily will be a JAG Officer during a future conflict, with both Daughters going to their parents for advice.

Laws of War has to be one of her best, then again every time I finish the next book, I say the same thing. Again Thank You R.G. You go Girl, Sight em, Light em and Blow em out of the water.

Well damn.

Didn't see a lot of these endings coming. Can't believe we lost so many good people in this one, but waiting to see what happens next. Just kinda sorry I have to wait until August for the next book.

Another Fantastic Book

I enjoy this series immensely. As a former submariner it’s nice to read a book that has correct information. Descriptions of sub life are spot on. There’s nothing classified just a good realistic story of life on a submarine.

It's a good read if you can stomach torture

I'm sure that you shouldn't have spent most of the book on the torture of the prisoners and not more on their release from captivity. It would have been more interesting and less sickening to imagine their horror.

Breakout!

Exquisite and fascinating read! The drama that unfolds as the prisoners plot their escape from the "He'll hole" of Heard Island was exceptional!

Still more loose ends

Peterson, Yeats, Nikolin, Malkova are still unresolved. I hope the following two books tie these loose ends up.
also, what happens with Wilson, Bobbie, Anjie and most of all, the two girls.
I still have questions
