Echoes of Pandora

Rate this book
Emily is in Romania, hunting Pandora’s Box.

When Luke is sent to bring her back to the States, the mission should be simple: find Emily and make her leave. But when they’re ambushed and forced into a supernatural forest filled with deadly traps, survival becomes their only priority.

Alex, a mercenary with a complicated past with both of them, becomes an unavoidable part of the journey, pushing the trio deeper into the mountains and closer to the legendary Box.

With every step, tension tightens and trust begins to fracture. Old wounds resurface, loyalties shift, and emotions none of them can afford start rising to the surface.

As supernatural threats close in and betrayal waits around every turn, Emily must decide who to trust, and whether following her heart might be the most dangerous choice of all.

Because some legends were never meant to be found.

And some choices can’t be undone.

Echoes of Pandora by Laura Tapper
3 ⭐️ | 🚫🌶️ (low romance)

This book is basically the love child of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider. With a dash of The Mummy as well added into the mix, which makes this a tantalizing story.

Within the first few chapters I was hooked! I was constantly thinking about how this adventure was unfolding and how our main characters were doing. I literally couldn’t put it down and kept talking to myself. I would say things like “no way” and “COME ON.” I was incredibly emotive throughout which showcases how captured I was by the writing. I enjoyed the atmosphere in the setting of the story as well. I felt like I was there with them and could picture it so clearly.

Let’s talk about some of the characters. Emily is extremely fierce and is single mindedly focused on the task of finding Pandora’s box, and protecting the world from its dangers. Luke is duty bound and just wants to be free of his past. Alex is the only one that wasn’t as developed for me, but his history with Emily was riddled with a lot of hurt and betrayal, which added some nuance to his character. By the end I guess he redeems himself but I will admit I wasn’t attached to him in the slightest. I almost wish there wasn’t a love triangle at all because it just didn’t feel necessary in my opinion. As for the rest of the cast, I did find the villains of the story to be a little bit cliché and corny. However, I didn’t mind that because I don’t think this needed to have flushed out villains, but it was just something to denote.

I think the author did a fantastic job of writing some of these characters namely—Emily and Luke. A random aside though, Emily did frustrate me at many points when it came to her interactions with Alex. I personally felt like she forgave him a lot and didn’t hold onto her resentment as deeply as I would have in her scenario. Especially taking to consideration all their history and what’s happening in the present moment. Yes I read the ending but I just found their whole dynamic unbelievable 🤷🏻‍♀️. This lend itself into some of the aspects of the story that weren’t necessarily my favorite.

There was some other parts of this that I found to be unbelievable. Which caused me to have a LOT of questions:
* How did Pandora box end up in Romania???
* How was Vlad the Impaler involved???
* Why was Jack a villain?? Does he have motives???
* When is this next book???

Believe me when I say that you easily put these questions aside because of how quickly the plot developed. I wish I knew this was a series because now I must wait for the next one and will not have my questions answered for some time to come— sad 😭.

Should this spill into your TBR?
I did enjoy my time with this one and steam rolled through it. However, I wanted more detailed explanations around the world building and was frustrated by my lack of answers at the end. As always, I want you to make your own opinion so definitely check it out if the premise sounds interesting to you. Alright to be clear on my answer here it’s a maybe for me.

You’ll love this one if you enjoy…

I really enjoyed this fast paced treasure hunt set in a remote Romanian forest starring Emily, an archaeologist FMC with phenomenally bad taste in men. Jack, her ex husband is overtly evil (not a spoiler, you find this out early) and power hungry. Alex, her ex-hookup shows up to extradite her but he’s a lying liar who betrayed her years ago and probably will continue to play her. And then there’s Luke. He owes the ex husband a favor and shows up to retrieve Emily and all her research in order to clear the slate. Also, all these guys are former Marines. Luke is objectively the best of the bunch.

Our rag tag gang is on the hunt for Pandora’s Box. Almost everyone wants it because they’re hungry for power or money. But Emily wants it to protect the world from the evil and corruption it contains. She’s a descendant of Pandora and her bloodline has been cursed.

The story of full of mysticism and packed with action. It’s so fast paced and high stakes! It’s also very romance-lite, much more of an adventure story. But there is plenty of tension. The world building was fantastic and kudos to the author for including Greek translations at the beginning in the prologue.

It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger/opening for more and I would definitely continue on with these characters and this world.

Thanks so much to the author for the review copy.

📖 Echoes of Pandora - ARC Review 📖

My summary:

A curse 500 years in the making. A box waiting to be found. A trio desperate to discover its location.

When fate throws together three people in the forests of Romania, their lives are forever changed. Luke’s just there to complete a job. Get in, grab the girl and her research, and get out. Alex is supposed to be helping Luke on his mission but he’s always had an enterprising spirit. Emily’s just trying to finish what her mother started. Unfortunately for all three, plans do not go as expected.

There will be people actively searching for them, a forest that seems to be alive and enchanted, and the looming threat of what may be waiting at the end of the journey.

My overall thoughts:

I had a lot of fun reading this one! We had some truly high stakes and action moments that weren’t afraid to get dark. I found myself truly curious where the story was going and happily flipping the pages to find out.

If you love adventure stories, with all the classic elements, this one is such a fun ride! However, be warned the epilogue is a bit of a cliffhanger. 👀

My rating: 4 stars
Release Date: May 5th

What I loved:

- The action! I loved all the dangerous traps the characters were thrown into. I never knew where the next one was lurking, waiting to be sprung. It felt like a true adventure with deadly stakes and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next!

- The nostalgia! This book gave me the same vibes as some of my favorite action movies growing up! I absolutely loved the little nods to some of the popular titles and found myself grinning as I read. I was having a great time!

- The MMC Luke! He gave me major Brendan Fraser vibes, specifically his role in the Mummy movies, and I was absolutely here for it! He was protective, tough as nails, and willing to toss her over his shoulder if she didn’t comply. 😏

What I didn’t like:

- The love triangle. I’m going to admit this is completely a me thing. It’s done well, it’s just not my favorite trope and I didn’t realize going in this story contained one. It’s listed as “complicated feelings” and I should have clocked that but I did not. 😬 That’s on me.

- Character depth. I feel like we didn’t really get to know the characters and it hindered my emotional attachment. Yes, they were pretty darn busy trying to stay alive …but I still wanted a bit more from them. However, since this is just the first book in a new series. I am curious to see if we’re going to dive deeper in the next.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

**spoiler alert** This review is based on an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. This review may contain spoilers.

There’s something about a story rooted in mythology and high-stakes adventure that immediately pulls me in, and Echoes of Pandora absolutely delivers on that promise. Laura Tapper's writing is immersive and atmospheric, making each moment feel incredibly vivid and real. After the prologue alone, I couldn’t wait to read more—and what an adventure it was!

The concept itself has such a strong hook. Blending mythology with a modern-day expedition creates a story that feels both fresh and familiar—reminiscent of classic adventure films like Indiana Jones. The addition of the supernatural elements adds an eerie, almost unsettling layer that keeps the stakes high. And there’s a strong sense of forward momentum that gives the story a cinematic feel. I could easily see this becoming a film someday!

Set in Romania and centered around the search for Pandora’s Box, this story follows Emily, Luke, and Alex as a seemingly straightforward mission begins to unravel into something far more dangerous. I should've known things were going to turn complicated when Alex and Luke complete their mission to find Emily almost right away—surely it couldn't be that easy! And it definitely isn't... This just goes to show how quickly the story establishes a sense of tension. From the very beginning, there’s this underlying feeling that nothing is quite as simple as it seems, and that sense of uncertainty really draws you in. The dynamic between the three characters was something I also really enjoyed, and the history woven between them added an extra layer of depth to the story.

Overall, Echoes of Pandora is such a fun and engaging start to what feels like a really exciting series. And that ending definitely leaves things in a place where you're shedding tears and immediately wanting more. If you love mythology, dangerous quests, layered character dynamics, and stories that feel like they belong on the big screen, this is absolutely one to add to your list.

Thank you so much to the author, Laura Tapper, for the opportunity to read an advance copy—I can’t wait to see where this story goes next! Congrats on a truly spectacular story!

What an adrenaline rush this is! If you love the cinematic adventure of Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones, or The Mummy, this book will absolutely hit that nostalgic sweet spot, especially if you grew up playing the video games.

A centuries-old curse, the mystery of Pandora’s Box, and an unlikely trio thrown together in the forests of Romania! Emily, Alex, and Luke each begin with their own motives, only to find their paths colliding in a dangerous race to uncover something long buried. The pacing is relentless, with tension coming from every direction, and it kept me hooked from start to finish.

Emily was an easy character to connect with right away. Her internal conflict, and the push and pull between the two men, added an extra layer of intrigue. Alex and Luke took a bit longer to grow on me, but they eventually found their footing. The dynamic between all three definitely kept things interesting.

This was such a fun, action-packed read. I’m a sucker for treasure hunts, ancient mysteries, and high-stakes puzzles, and this book delivered on all fronts. I especially loved the idea that a key to everything was hiding in plain sight all along. My only wish is that some of the puzzles had been presented more directly to the reader, giving us a chance to solve them before the answers were revealed on page.

The love triangle wasn’t my favorite element, though that’s more of a personal preference than a flaw as it isn't my favourite trope. I also found myself wanting a bit more depth from the characters. While we get glimpses of their backstories, I would have loved stronger defining traits and deeper emotional connection. Jack, in particular, felt a little one-note as the power-hungry antagonist. That said, I’ll admit I still enjoyed a few of the classic tropes, even if some of them came across a little tropey, the “who did this to you” moment included.

The final chapters are edge-of-your-seat intense, and that epilogue? It delivers just enough to leave you desperate for more. A perfect tease that sets up what’s next while keeping you hooked.

Thank you to Laura Tapper for the eARC of this novel for review. Check the trigger warnings before diving into this adventure!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

500 years later from the Prologue..

Luke was in the Marines in Iraq.

He has continuous dreams of the boy he shot while in Iraq.
Haunting memories and nightmares trouble him day and night.

Jack calls 6 years later needing a debt paid.

Jack was in the marines with Luke and he wants Pandora’s Box to become the most powerful man.

So Jack wants Luke to go to Romania, get his ex wife, Emily, and bring her and all of her research back to the states.

Jack also assigns Alex to a job.

Alex’s job is to watch Luke and Emily and make sure there are no complications.

Jack wants Alex to go along because he knows the treasure hunting world.

This should be a simple extraction but it quickly turns into something far more dangerous.

Luke, Alex and Emily are ambushed by locals and forced into a supernatural forest filled with deadly traps.

Alex, who has a deep history with both Luke and Alex pushes them further into the mountains and closer to Pandora’s Box.

With every step closer, truth comes to the surface and the three of them have to learn to trust one another to try to make it out of the forest alive.

💭 This book had me drawn in from the very beginning. I was completely inserted into this book. I felt as if I was in Romania and on the search for Pandora’s Box. I would like to clarify that I'm giving this a solid 4.5 stars, but there's no option for that on here!

Firstly, if Laura Croft, Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Arcana are your vibe, you'll really enjoy this read.

It's been such an honour to read Echoes of Pandora ahead of publication. I love anything mythology-based, so when I began this read I was excited, to say the least. It took a little time for the first half to get going - mostly because I’ve been struggling to apply myself to reading (through no fault of the book!). My reading slump was well and truly broken by the second half though. I legit read the entire last 50% in one hit.

Whilst a couple of things were predictable (in the best way, because my anxiety-riddled brain likes to know on some level what’s about to happen), there were also a few moments I didn’t expect. As that proverbial mic dropped, I was left needing to turn another page…But alas, there were no more to turn!

The vivid descriptions are what stood out most for me. If there’s one thing I can’t abide, it’s a lack of description where it matters, and this absolutely hit the nail on the head. The forest, the ancient sites - it was all there.

One thing I’d love to have seen a bit more of was the characters’ backstories, perhaps beyond what we already know. I can’t wait to see if we discover more in the next instalment!

I’m not usually a lover of love triangles. HOWEVER, I think this was done really well, and all the characters held their ground in those situations.

As Laura’s first published fantasy, this was commendable in so many ways. It had action, a cheeky bit of yearning, and fast-paced moments without shying away from the darker sides of humanity and the lengths people will go to in order to achieve their goals. Plus, it had ancient history woven into myth - and that cliffhanger?

Now I have to wait until goodness knows when to find out what happens next!

What it’s about:
Jack sends his former Marine comrades Luke and Alex to Romania to extract his ex-wife Emily, who he claims is in danger. It should have been an easy mission, but what they don’t know is that Emily is searching for Pandora’s Box. They’re ambushed and driven into a supernatural forest filled with deadly traps and secrets. When Alex finds out that Emily is somehow connected to the box, he pushes their group towards it. But of course, they aren’t the only ones looking for Pandora’s Box.

The story is fast-paced and action-heavy with constant tension - from ambushes to supernatural threats - that keeps the plot moving.

I liked the writing style from the beginning - the author balances action with emotional depth, especially when it comes to portraying inner conflict and complicated relationships.

I also liked the FMC Emily instantly. She’s independent, stubborn and witty too.
Luke is a protective green flag MMC with flaws. Alex is the type of MMC you feel drawn to, even though you know he's not the good guy. These two kinda gave me Stefan and Damon Salvatore vibes from The Vampire Diaries. 😂
I loved how all of the characters had a past that began to unravel as the story progressed.

One of my favourite parts was the first kiss scene - the author took such a unique approach to that and I absolutely loved that.

The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat. And omg, that ending?!? 😱

I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read more books by Laura Tapper.

Echoes of Pandora is an action-packed adventure through a treacherous forest, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Laura seamlessly weaves together action and emotional depth to create a gripping story filled with banter, tension and high stakes.

“Emily’s voice was a faint whisper, but her defiance was steel.” This quote really stood out to me and I feel like it sums up the FMC perfectly. Emily is so strong and feisty. She isn’t a naive young girl with an annoying amount of self-assurance, she’s a thirty-year-old woman with life experience and a real strength of character. You can’t help but like her, especially when she is able to stand her ground against all the men who are trying to control her.

The MMCs in this book are very different types of men, but you’ll find yourself being drawn to both of them in the same way that Emily is. I know that some people don’t like love triangles in books, but this one is done very well. Personally, I like going into a book not knowing who the endgame love interest is. I want the tension, the heated moments and the anticipation of it all, and Echoes of Pandora definitely delivers on that front!

Something I particularly enjoyed about this book was the setting descriptions. They were beautifully written and so vivid, giving a very eerie feel to the forest. The characters never feel completely safe there and, as a reader, I felt that way too. I was on edge every time something new was discovered!

If you love films such as Lara Croft, Indiana Jones or The Mummy, then Echoes of Pandora is the book for you. Congratulations Laura Tapper on a brilliant first instalment in this series - I can’t wait for the next book!

In Echoes of Pandora, Laura takes us on an adventure with Emily, a determined archaeologist trying to solve the mysteries of her heritage. Along for the ride, we have Luke, ex-military turned contractor, who is tasked with finding and bringing her home to Jack, her suspiciously concerned ex-husband, and Alex, also ex-military turned globe-trotter, who is hired to make sure that Luke gets the job done. When Luke and Alex easily find Emily in Romania, the job appears to be simple. But this quick trip quickly turns into an adventure and a journey that none of them imagined.

This is the second book by Laura that I've read, and I've loved them both! Laura's writing style is incredible - she gives us the story that we're looking for without a lot of extra unnecessary details. Although she gives a somewhat gentle start to this one, it isn't long before it has you swept up and you're in it until the end. I also loved her characters - Emily is fierce but caring. She's on a journey, both professional and personal, and she isn't about to let some men get in her way. At the same time, she is quick to see that these guys aren't all they're trying to portray to her. Our men, Luke and Alex, are two very different personalities, but they fit so well in this dynamic. They give us some chuckles, sympathy, and a few headaches, too! Overall, Echoes of Pandora was such a fun read, and I'm so thrilled that Laura allowed me to read it as an eARC! Girl, you've done it again, and I'm here for the rest of the ride!

My honest review:

What I liked?

I absolutely loved the concept - treasure hunting, impending danger, ancient texts, a magical forest, and even a hint of Pandora’s box. If you enjoy movies like National Treasure, The Mummy, or Indiana Jones but with a strong female lead, you’ll really enjoy this book.

The action was another highlight for me—the traps, the clues, the revelations, and, of course, the classic evil men with guns. It genuinely felt like watching a movie unfold.

Is this going to be adapted into a series or a movie someday? 😉 Because if it does, I’m definitely going to enjoy watching it.

What I didn’t like?

Hmm…. It would have been nice to get to know the characters on a deeper level. I only realized toward the end that this is going to be a series, so maybe that development will come in the upcoming books.

Another aspect is the love triangle. I’m not against it at all, but I would have appreciated a bit more depth there too. The yearning and confusion were definitely present, but a little more exploration wouldn’t have hurt.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy. Everything I wrote is my own thoughts and opinion.

Emily is researching Pandora’s Box in Romania. Luke is sent to bring her back to the States but things get complicated when they are forced to go through a supernatural forest instead of around it. (TW: gun violence, blood, death, death of a child, physical violence, brief torture, graphic injury, sexual assault)

⚱️Treasure hunt
🗺️ Plot driven
🎁 Forced proximity
⚱️ Third person POV
🗺️ Supernatural forest
🎁 Pandora’s box

Wow. I couldn’t put it down. The characters and plot lines are woven together so nicely that it allowed for some great plot twists. I liked all the characters and I liked the plot. I think the plot was so well developed. It’s a like a fantasy thriller with a little side tease of romantic tension.

The vibes remind me of
-Indiana Jones
-Lara Croft
-Jumanji
-The Mummy

When books are written in third person a lot of the inner monologue and clues to how a character really feels is missing unless they explicitly say their thoughts out loud. I wanted more depth. I wanted to know more what the characters were thinking (especially in the last third!) I also wanted more drama. Alex is there to “help” but doesn’t get along with Luke and has romantic history with Emily. It’s the perfect formula for dramatics. I loved the chaos of their dynamics. I wanted even more chaos, tension, and sudden confessions. Stir the pot! 😂

The writing overall is very clear, straight forward, and easy to follow. The ending was great and that epilogue cliffhanger had me screaming. Can’t wait for the next book.

Echoes of Pandora by Laura Tapper
3.5☆

It’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘺, 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘑𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴, and 𝘓𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘵, with some greek mythology, deadly traps, and a high stakes treasure hunt. Pretty much a “good luck surviving this” attitude and I seriously had a great time.

We follow Emily, an archaeologist with brilliant instincts, terrible taste in men 🤭, and the small inconvenience of being descended from Pandora herself. Which means while everyone else is hunting Pandora’s Box for power, money, or chaos, Emily is desperately trying to keep it out of the wrong hands before the world fully implodes.

Not to mention a lineup of red flags and unresolved tension in the crew that she’s stuck with during this journey.

Her ex-husband Jack is evil almost immediately. Like cartoonishly power hungry in a way that makes you want to throw a shoe at him. Then there’s Alex, the ex-hookup who already betrayed her once and still somehow has the audacity to show back up looking dangerous and complicated. And finally… Luke.

This man is giving full Brendan Fraser in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘺 energy. Tough, protective, slightly feral, and absolutely willing to throw her over his shoulder to get his way—objectively the best option in a sea of walking bad decisions.

The adventure aspect is SO fun. Remote Romanian forests, ancient mysteries, cursed bloodlines, hidden traps, high-stakes chases… the pacing barely lets you breathe.

And while the romance is lighter than the action, the tension absolutely sneaks in and does damage. 👀

✨ Archaeologist FMC with cursed bloodline energy
✨ Treasure hunt + deadly traps
✨ Greek mythology woven into the adventure
✨ Ex-Marines, betrayal, and morally questionable men
✨ Major nostalgic action-movie vibes

The world-building is immersive, the stakes stay HIGH, and the ending absolutely leaves the door wide open for more chaos to come.

Basically: if you’re a fan of 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘑𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴 with more mythology, more tension, and hotter people making reckless decisions…this book is it.

*Thank you to Laura Tapper for this arc opportunity.

✨️My thoughts✨️
This was a fun and intense reading. I loved it. The vibes it was giving just sucked me right in.. im talking Laura Croft/Indiana Jones with a high stakes, dark fantasy. I really enjoyed the journey to Pandoras Box.. such a twisted journey. Might I also add, im a sucker for Greek mythology stuff soooo this was even cooler seeing Pandoras Box used in this setting. The details were phenomenal being it. Totally random but, Our mfc has this really cool necklace as well and I love the deeper meaning behind it.

I felt like this book gave me an adrenaline rush as I was reading it. Just on the edge of my seat during the dangerous traps and seeing our mfc learn a little bit more about herself... yea. It was pretty awesome. Also, the slow burn romance... 😉

The book doesnt end in a cliffhanger whichhhh always leaves me wanting more.

One detail I loved, is this line...
⬇️
Darkness swam. Shapes bled together. To my right, a figure knelt but only an outline at first, edges blurred, a hand reaching toward me through the haze.

What to know what happens next, READ THE BOOK. 😍

“For the girls who wanted to grow up and be Lara Croft. This one’s for you.”

Echoes of Pandora by @lauratypedthis 🥾⚒️

My dear friend has crafted such an astonishingly captivating book in Echoes of Pandora! I am grateful to be a part of her street team and an early reader prior to the books release in May.

Emily is an archaeologist on a mission in Romania to complete her mother’s work—finding Pandora’s Box.

Her ex has had called in favors from his former Marine pals, Luke and Alex, to retrieve Emily and her research.

In a mystifying journey into a supernatural forest that seems to want anything but the trio being successful in their mission, chaos and emotions erupt into an intriguing tale reminiscent of Indiana Jones and Lara Croft with a Greek mythology and Romanian historical twist.

I was astounded by the creativity, thought, and the connections I formed with these three characters! Eliciting emotions from anger, love, lust, resentment, grief, curiosity, and courage—Laura showcases the depth of human emotions while never losing sight on the ceaseless action.

I encourage you to immediately add Echoes of Pandora to your tbr!

Be prepared to set foot into a world where your next step may lead to the greatest adventure of your life 🥾⚒️

Echoes of Pandora is so, SO good! It has such a fresh, unique storyline. I have read nothing like this before and was immersed from the start. The three main characters, Luke, Emily, and Alex, had such a fun dynamic to read about. I smiled, laughed, and screamed along with them. Their journey and adventure was so FUN to read about; there is so much going on, but they work together and learn a lot about each other despite their original feelings about the mission. Jack, I absolutely HATE though. The ending was satisfying and wrapped things up pretty well, though there was a cliffhanger for book two.

For me, the biggest highlight of this book was the writing. I truly felt like I was in Romania, hunting for Pandora's Box along with the main characters. Laura is an absolutely AMAZING writer; her language is descriptive but not to the point of being overwhelming, which I absolutely adored. Thank you so much Laura for providing me with an ARC to review. I absolutely cannot wait to read more of your work!

I have the pleasure of being on Laura’s street team, so I got to have early access to reading this book.

This book was a nonstop thrill ride from the very first page. It’s packed with secrets, mystery, magic, tension, and undeniable chemistry. The constant twists and turns kept me guessing, never quite sure who I was supposed to be rooting for.

Emily is fierce, determined, and impossible not to admire. Alex walks the line between frustrating and completely endearing. Meanwhile Luke’s unwavering honor code either grounds him or throws him straight into the chaos this “simple” extraction quickly becomes.

I was completely hooked the entire time. This is the kind of story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and turning pages way past when you meant to stop.

Wow! This book was all dark adventure and suspense. It kicks up the intrigue and tragedy right from the get go and stays fast paced and gripping through the whole thing.

I love a book where you don’t hit a lull and this was certainly that. It didn’t shy away from the gruesome and intense which made it even more captivating.

This book simultaneously made me want to hole up and learn all there is to know about Pandora’s Box and set off on a treasure hunt.

And WOAH that ending! I am begging for more!

✨Pandora’s box reimagined
🩶Epic treasure hunt
✨Action and adventure
🩶Twists
✨Complicated feelings

Wow, I was not prepared for this book! This book was the most epic treasure hunt, full of action, mystery, and adventure. One of my favorite movies is National Treasure, and this fueled my love for treasure hunting from the very first page. I loved the dynamic between Emily, Alex, and Luke. There were twists that I didn’t see coming, and that ending! I was not prepared for that cliffhanger. I have so many questions. I can’t wait for the next book.

Combining classic movies like Indiana Jones, Laura Croft and The Mummy might sound like a lot but Laura pulled it off!

Emily is our FMC and she’s been researching/hunting for Pandora’s box for years.

Her ex Jack has secretly been searching as well. He hires his old fellow Marines, Luke and Alex (who has a past with Emily) to find her and her research and bring her to him.

Finding themselves in a mysterious forest, with trials only she seems to be able to get through, they find themselves having to trust each other to get to the other side.

One is seeking power, one is seeking money, and one wants to protect the world.

Laura did a great job combining the legendary worlds! Her writing is easy to read and full of adventure!

Thank you for letting me read your book!!

Arc read, this was my first time reading this genre, and I am glad it was this book. The twist and turns were amazing. I loved that there wasn't really any spice but the story was not lacking at all. I actually cried at the end of this book because the emotions that were conveyed were amazing

Action. Humour. Adventure. Mythology. Heart.

Before the modern-day adventure begins, we see a glimpse of what happened 500 years ago. The events of the past are what lead Emily, Luke and Alex to find themselves in a supernatural forest in search of Pandora’s Box. The witty, sarcastic dialogue and the dynamics between the characters created a perfect counterweight to the atmospheric writing and darker themes!

Emily and Alex's shared history made for some delicious banter, especially Alex being the wind-up merchant that he is. When Emily and Luke had their first moment bonding, I was genuinely squealing. And I lived for every second of the trio’s interactions.

While the first half was a bit slower, laying the intriguing foundation, the second half I wasn’t ready for. Action-packed, heart-pounding and explosive.

The book read like a movie; I could see it as I was reading it! I loved that each chapter was titled (hilariously so). And the ending. Omg. Talk about a plot twist. I cannot wait for the sequel!!

I was so SO excited to be able to be an ARC reader for her for Echos of Pandora, and it did not disappoint!
First of all, how beautiful is that cover?
If Tomb Raider was your thing (guilty) then this needs to be your next read.
There is an intricate, mysterious prologue and some really beautiful, rich world building from the start.
The characters are complex, each with their secrets, backstories and own reasons for doing things.
There is an undercurrent of darkness throughout the whole series that adds depth and mystery, a creepy forest that just keeps chucking shit at the main characters.
The world building really is beautiful throughout the whole book.
This would make an absolutely insanely good film - I can see it playing out in my head
I am so excited to see where book 2 takes us!
