Ripped from her world during a chance encounter with an alien landing party, Chelan MacKay suddenly finds herself on board the galactic battleship RIBUS 7. Korba, an ebony-clad god of war, the Iceanean Commander of RIBUS 7, is irresistibly drawn to her. Defying all the laws that govern his people, he risks all to make her his.
Despite seemingly insurmountable odds and adversity, Chelan manages to adapt to Iceanean culture, in which the men and women pursue the pleasures of the flesh with a passion and skill equal to that of the kill. Nurtured by the Iceanean men around her, she eventually rises to her new position beside the galaxy’s most powerful Warlord. But just as her life with Korba begins to settle, chaos ensues.
Enter Ticees, the Galactic Emperor, ruler of the known universe and Commander of the Warlords. His word is law, his decree incontrovertible, his dominion…absolute. Though not of Iceanean blood, he adheres to the governances of the Iceanean culture and embraces their ideologies. Or does he?
When the exalted Emperor first gazes upon Chelan, Korba’s chosen mate, the alabaster beauty leaves him breathless. By Iceanean principles, she is bound to Korba, but not bound by fidelity. Sweeping her off her feet with his charms and impressing her with his power is his plan. But when his sexual quarry stubbornly refuses his advances, the results are incendiary. No one thwarts Ticees, not his officers, not his Warlords, and certainly not one little alien. What Ticees wants, Ticees gets, but at what cost?
So I can review the second book in the series just as I have promised back in my other painful review over here
Now, I hate to say that I was right but...
I was right.
Of course, I was right. It would have been an intergalactic miracle for Chelan (hoping here that I bothered enough to remember her name) to actually grow up. You know, grow up a brain, grow up some guts, grow up some maturity, anything at all to go with her stunning, otherworldly beauty that apparently made every single entity in possession of a penis go all googly eyes at the sight of the perfect, little goddess that she is.
Note the dangerous levels of sarcasm.
I do not even need to check other 1 star reviews to accurately guess that my fellow reviewers more or less said the same thing, but in different ways. Probably more politely or in nicer ways than how I have phrased it.
Or like... maybe not.
Maybe they were just as savage and annoyed as I was. Maybe Chelan pissed them off just as much as she pissed me off. Maybe other reviews chewed little, perfect Chelan and then spit her out just as bad as I'm about to do. Possibly like this:
"I would very much love to bitch slap this creature in the hopes that her brain (or lack thereof) would gain some much-needed neurons."
Or perhaps:
"Reading about Chelan's unceasing dramatics made me contemplate with fondness the possibility of gauging my eyes out, hitting my head on the metal door, pouring kerosene on my head, and setting myself on fire before launching myself in a spectacular bungee jumping free fall without the cord, preferably from the 57th level of a skyscraper."
Or the classic:
"Please make a good deed for humanity and shoot yourself in the skull, Chelan. You're pretty much useless aside from occasionally providing shade to the soil and turning oxygen into carbon dioxide."
Nope ladies, just nope.
Honestly, it's a great pity because the writing is not half bad and by not half bad I seriously mean that the author has some good storytelling skills over there and this book had some serious potential. But she simply ruins everything. Like everything.
Bye-bye, book potential.
Sayonara *waves a white scarf dramatically as the wind blows through my blonde tresses and makes them ripple in shiny, golden waves**
Let me explain it properly. Our heroine basically has about 8 or so very hot, very epic guys drooling like lovesick puppies after her.
There is no catch.
She's just a dumb, vain, stupid, and definitely prideful piece of shit. I am so glad that she is not real because I swear on all the galaxies out there that I would have bashed her head repeatedly on the hardest surface I could find, with very sadistic pleasure.
And this comes from someone who finds violence unsavory, despises conflict, and finds confrontations tedious. I wouldn't call myself a pacifist, but this creature brings out the worst in me, and she's not even real!
So, not only is she a cheater (big surprise over here), but she humiliates a very decent woman just for the kicks of it, poor entitled bitc- baby (yes, that is what I meant to say), and then turns her wonderful hubby - meh... one of them, the main one of course - against the Emperor. A.k.a. the man her main hubby swore allegiance to and who was a very decent, competent, and fair ruler and also a GOOD FRIEND to said hubby. Because why not?
She even cried pitifully because the Emperor allegedly raped her.
Trust me, he did not. Not even close. Not even anything.
But the poor doe was scared.
Aww...
*slow clapping*
Her only redeeming quality, ladies and gentlemen, was that she had the necessary parts required to perform this thing we call sex.
That's it.
There's no deeper or hidden meaning to my statement. This is her only redeeming quality because I sure as hell can't figure out what the purpose of this creature was, aside from having an available vagina.
My feels by this point:
I am definitely not a silly feminist (and by silly feminist I mean the extreme ones, not the decent folks who have a very valid point and which I support wholeheartedly) or other crap, but Chelan was the type of woman whose parents should have used contraceptive if they knew (seers, prophecy, scans, pregnancy tests, anything really) she was going to be born. Submissive as fuck, no backbone, no intelligent life inside her skull and only useful (and that debatable as well) as a cocksleeve (yep, I went there and said it, as horrible as this sounds) and perhaps as the stupid being one wishes to use in order to overthrow some decent ruler for the hell of it.
Helen of Troy's got nothing on you, baby. Congratulations.
*Just to clarify over here, Chelan is the reason I had to give this book 1 star. That's her. Just her. I couldn't... I just couldn't. And this was painful to admit, that a single character has managed to ruin such a good book to such an extent. Basically, as far as I'm concerned, if Chelan hadn't been such a horrible, weak, and shitty creature, this book would have been given a solid 5 stars along with a rave review.
**I'm not in any way saying people shouldn't give it a try, on the contrary, chances are some of you would really, really like it. But if you hate the same things I hate and if those things are included in my very harsh rant above, then it might be wise to steer clear of this book... or series.
What can I say about this book that can accurately describe how it made me feel? Hmm, let me think. Got it.
THIS BOOK MADE ME WANT TO SHOOT MYSELF IN THE FACE, SET MYSELF ON FIRE AND JUMP OFF A CLIFF.
Yep, that about sums it up.
Book 1 was such an epic failure, but since book 2 got pretty good reviews, I thought Ms. Mills would've redeemed herself. Nope, I was wrong. Like the first, I didn't finish this one. The heroine was yet again a hypocritical, cheating, weak woman who didn't deserve half the attention she received from the worthy males around her. She was self-centered and egotistical and prideful when she really had nothing to be prideful about. Chelan had absolutely NO redeeming qualities about herself and I ended up wanting this chick to either get murdered or kill herself. Like seriously, she is the worst female character ever written in the history of all female characters, and I've read some pretty crappy characters over the last decade.
Imagine an insane asylum. And in this asylum is a woman, rocking in a corner with her arms around her knees and crying. She's also got bandages around her wrists from all the suicide attempts she's tried. Then, sexy, powerful alien men walk into that asylum and see her and instantly fall in love with her, forsaking healthy, beautiful, whole women in favor of Chelan. She cries for no reason, shuts down mentally whenever she's confronted with her own frailty or hypocrisy, or basically any situation that makes her even slightly uncomfortable. Yet these men who practically run the galaxy fall head over heels for her and want her to have their babies. As if this chick should EVER be allowed to be a mother.
But even through all of that, the most unforgivable scene in the whole book (up until I stopped reading, of course) was when she made Lena, a strong woman of worth, bow before her and have to ask permission to leave. That part literally made me sick. Chelan thinks it's okay to cheat on the multiple men who 'love her' with one another and shows a very small amount of guilt for it, but the second another woman shows up (a woman who, by the way, had had a good lover in Fremmus and was simply hoping to re-kindle her relationship with him), she demands that Lena get out as if she just caught her husband in bed with another woman. When Korba made Lena drop to her knees in front of such a worthless, despicable character, it was akin to sacrilege.
I've never been so deeply offended by a character's nature, actions and words. She is the epitome of all that is wrong with the female gender, only multiplied by a thousand. Mills has done the impossible and brought great shame to her gender. I will never in this life pick up another book written by this author and this series is a slap in the face of every author in this genre who seeks to write real romance. What a shame.
1/2 way through .. really struggling to finish this. Totally want to bitch slap this female. I'm so so so over her godesslike beauty mentioned over and over again and how every one want to boff her I'm getting eye fatigue from rolling my eyes
ok finished and downgraded, comsidering adding a new shelf a waste of money and hours of my time
The story was good. I love the culture and the male characters. I felt that it was odd how there wasn't one woman of this alien culture that Chelan couldn't befriend...It was more than odd actually. But then again the only time I actually liked Chelan between book one and book two was when she was taking care of herself in the caves. I had high hopes that she would grow and her fight for survival would cure her of her obnoxious dramatics. Her character was exhausting and far beyond annoying! So many times I wished she would give into her dark thoughts and just be done with herself but she is too set in her ways to be a whiney lap dog to a good man. The one problem she had was depression and she never healed from it and her men around her fed into her issues, making her dependant upon them for her to have a good morning or day. She was also a cock-tease and I couldn't summon enough empathy for her when she was raped. I wanted to, I tried to put myself in her shoes, but she is truly a mid-whitted individual who needed extreme therapy and drugs. Why couldn't drugs be procured in highly advanced culture? Breeding out negative things like depression seemed like lame excuse especially when they had access to meds prior to genetic breeding and when the south people could possibly suffer depression from their lax way of breeding and living. I liked the actual story and male characters but there was just too much doom and gloom talk that promoted suicide to get the results you want. In fact, Shan ending himself was an eye roll moment...It was just too cowardly, fake, and dumb. People who talk and think this much about ending themselves do not make good characters.
Ticees is book two of the Ribus 7 series. Where as book one deals with Chelan adjusting to life and culture on the battleship Ribus 7, Ticees deals with Chelan adjusting to life on the Iceanian planet and the politics that come with it. Overall I find that if you like the first book you will like the second. I'm going to start with the bad and move to the good. This was an amazing read overall, and while there are some issues and annoyances I loved both it and the first book and hope to see more. I give it a strong 8/10.
The same faults are present in the second installment. Chelan is still extremely annoying in areas. She overreacts, is very weepy, and you can't understand her logic sometimes. She still is so beautiful that everyone falls in love with her instantly and she is smarter than these super gene men around her. She picks up a few more talents to go with her repertoire, she apparently is an amazing dress designer. If you didn't mind her in the first book, or at least tolerated her you will find she is much of the same in the second.
The men in these books is what really speaks to me. I absolutely love Fremma, and I still love him throughout this entire book. Dar, poor poor Dar, I don't know how long this poor man has been hanging around waiting for Chelan the conversion of years throws me, however it is years. After years though he gets one night with her. You heard me right one night. This is one of my big problems with the book. After book one we are sitting waiting to see how her relationship with Dar progresses. Fremma is handled and we get delightful scenes with him. However I felt Dar was almost swept away in areas and ignored. I would have loved to see more with this poor guy, I mean come on he ditched pretty much the entire empire of lovin for Chelan you think that'd count for something. Now Korba I had a weird love/hate relationship with. You gotta love this over possessive powerhouse guy, but he really threw me in this book. The possessiveness is endearing yet off putting. He throws away pretty much all of the Icenian values in the sharing department and for awhile just sits over Chelan growling "mine" it seems. He eventually relaxes for Fremma but you still find him standing between Dar and Chelan and then 2 chapters later he's trying to push Chelan to be friends with Ticees. I really got lost here with him he ends up almost over calculating and ruining his relationship with Dar. All Dar has done is protect and when Korba put his foot down, backed off Chelan completely, but when Ticees actually oversteps his bounds after a week or so is totally cool and fine with things. All in all I think the biggest fault in this weird fiver relationship was how Chelan seemed to just sit back and let them fight it all out and simply let Korba do whatever. At no time do I remember her standing up for either of her other men to Korba. She professes they are all equal in her love yet her actions constantly put Korba above the others while she neglects them.
Ticees himself was another huge issue for me. I'm not going to say any more about him cause it was just a huge headcase there. I loved/hated him. I found myself hoping he pulled himself around and became an upstanding guy for Chelan and other times I wanted to watch Dar/Korba gut him. Mrs Mills was very talented in making us love him one chapter, have us hate him the next, and then like him and hope for better again several later.
The dreaded Breeding Guild we had a huge buildup in the first book about barely makes an appearance. In the first book we hear about how Korba's first mate was basically killed by the guild and how they were relentless in trying to get to her. Yet with Chelan we hear nothing until Ticees brings them into the picture and they have nothing to do with the issues in the first book.
Now book two also adds and then just as quickly removes a new man. Shan. I found myself more emotionally invested in the heartbreak of Shan after awhile than a few of the older characters. He shows up in the second half of the book and then disappears within a few chapters. *BIG SPOILER* Chelan gets pregnant from him and still sends him away to only have the baby on her own. She's too small and without help the baby dies after a long labor and Chelan starts hemorrhaging. Korba and Shan arrive just in time to save her though and Shan can't stand it and walks off to die with his already dead son. Heartbreaking ending for Shan and I wish there would have been more of him, he just seemed like a disposable character otherwise. What really irks me about this whole setup is that Chelan wakes up and finds he's dead along with the child and goes catatonic. When she wakes again however she is just happy go lucky to be back with Korba and we hear next to no mention of either Shan or the child again. Now admittedly the chapters after Chelan is rescued are few and seem almost rushed as if there was a word cut off for the book. This was the other big issue I had with the book. It ends right after a revolution and we don't find out anything more. Korba pretty much wipes out thousands of people and becomes Emperor and that's the end. We don't find out more about how they are going to handle the political shift. Nothing about Chelan handling what happened with Ticees, Shan, her child, Dar, or Korba. Just an obscure wrap up. Now the author did mention she had more books written on her facebook. Wither they have to do with Ribus 7 or not I couldn't say, I do hope so though. There is a lot she could so from here.
Shae Mills is a very talented author and I know I picked apart the book in a way that makes it seem like it's bad but it really isn't. I actually found I enjoyed it more than other books I've read lately. You have to remember that these are her first books and they were written years ago during her struggle with depression. The elements of her fight with her personal battle are very apparent in the books and you can see them in the heroine. She has a way of making the overarching story so good, and has some truly endearing characters that you overlook the bad. There are faults and issues but I would really suggest this book to people as long as they don't mind a more laid back passive heroine. The great thing I do have to say about this author is she keeps her aliens "alien". Usually when I read a book like this the aliens in the story start to act more and more like humans to the point where their culture is gone and you might as well be back on Earth with the story. Mrs. Mills keeps very strongly to most of the culture of the Iceneans (besides the issue earlier of Korba I mentioned). I definitely will be re reading and watching for more from this author. I have a feeling she's only going to get better and I love her writing.

I am so crushed I read this book. I suppose that means the author did her job getting me to care about the characters. But I don't read to be emotionally devastated by fictional actions and events.
This does have a HEA but it was abrupt so I didn't feel happy.
Please be aware that there is a graphic scene of rape (although it doesn't go unpunished).
This story is tragedy after tragedy with lots of sex in between to try and make up for all the gloom.
Amazing second book from beloved author Shae Mills. This story is a continuation of Ribus 7 and a rollercoaster of emotions just the same. You can't help but emerse yourself in the lives of the Korbus,Fremma,Dar and the woman they love and worship, Chelan (pronounced Shell-an, as my new favorite author so graciously told me). Chelan, plucked from her life on earth, was just beginning to conform to her life with her alien loves. You can't help but want a happy ending for all of them, but it comes at a very heavy price. I smiled, I laughed and I cried all throughout this book! Loved it!!
I loved this series even though she seemed to fall in love with all who spent time with her. This received four stars only because Shan died. If she could have three than why not a fourth? Never mind that Tycees was not near enough the villain that he really should have been. Mrs Mills did not make me hate him enough. Overall the story was a little too unbelievable when it comes to two if not three alpha males sharing Chelan and only one alpha getting family benefits. Fremma and Dar deserve better... I just kept thinking as Chelan acquired yet another admirer that there are over three and a billion more where she came from for them to choose their own!
4.5 stars!! I'm not giving it 5 stars because there was a problem with the editing in some places, nothing too major but still a bit annoying and that's a real shame.
I didn't want this book to end. It had it all and was also a decent length for a change, about 600 ish pages!
Another good book from Shae Mills and I do hope we will be reading more from this world in the future. There are some really fantastic secondary characters I would love to know more about.
A lot irritated me in this book but it's too much to list. First book was awesome. This one was pretty good too until it started showing Ticees as a bad guy. I kind of lost interest then. The cover is a little misleading. And it just got old with how weak and scared and pathetic Chelan was of everyone and everything unless she was about to have sex or was having sex. Then after the cave incident she became superwoman and did the impossible. Very disappointed.
This book really does not make much sense if you haven't read the first one. It's a guilty pleasure for me, since I like my heroines to be a little less Mary Sue. However, Chelan does overcome some serious depressive episodes, due to circumstances way beyond her control, and that shows someone who has an inner strength that is admirable.
The world of the Empire is a harsh one but with intriguing cultural norms, some good and some bad.
Going into this series pretty blind is the best thing that's happened to me recently. Book one was nothing short of amazing! Book 2 is EPIC! Some may not like this story, but the complexity of the relationships that happen and the depth of love expressed have left me nearly speechless. Book 2 is also about Chelan and some amazing men. Near the end I definitely cried. I wanted an epilogue, but I'm on to the next book. LOVED it!! 5 stars
First 70% of the book is really no different than book 1.... a whiny, annoying heroine and a redundant storyline. I contemplated DNFing many times, not sure why I didnt. But the last 30% was actually damn good. Tons of twists, action, heartbreak, love.
Not sure why anyone would read book 3, this book ends perfectly. No cliffys, all storylines tied up nicely.
I was eager to read book 2 even though I had a love hate relationship with the first book.. I guess the author did a great job, because she pulled into this story. I couldn't put it down. I was mad, happy, sad, and estatic. I was mad the first half of the book. She's weak and dependent upon the men. She's also an emotionally mess. She struggles in both books with her morality and values . She loves Korba, but she loves Dar and Fremma . She struggles with their open sexuality society. Then we start to notice korba and the other men struggling with if also. They fall for her so bad they give up all other. Her husband even begins to struggle with his society because he begins to get jealous and possessive. The rest of the book got really dark and troubled. Tricees decided he wanted chelan, and did some unthinkable things to her. The best part of the book was the middle, while she was in the cave. We saw her strength And resilience. Up until this we only saw her weakness. Also during this period the span of time was given and shed light on other parts from the past. The middle of the book was like a story within a story. We got the story of her and Shan ,and I must say I cried a mountain of tears. Their story was utterly heartbreaking. Then the end of the book we got to see the wonderful, magnificiant Korba and why he was the Overlord and the Emporiors right hand man. This was wonderful and definitely gets a 4.5 star. It would have gotten a 5star, but Chelan was really pathetic and insecure first half of the book.i would love to read more of their story.

A little over a year ago, I had the extreme pleasure of reading the forerunner of this magnificent book, RIBUS 7 by one of the most talented authors I have ever had the chance to read. Shae Mills is one of those rare authors whose talent at world building, character development and storytelling is second to none. After I read RIBUS 7, I wasn't sure if the author could maintain the excitement and momentum of the the original. But in this sequel she has surpassed my expectations to produce a second book that is equal or superior to the first! The characters of Chelan, Korba, Fremma and Dar only grew to be more than I'd imagined possible. The addition of the Emperor Ticees was a stroke of literary genius and the ensuing emotional storm held me captivated page after page. Never have I read a book that I just couldn't take a break from, that I was driven to read hour after hour even though I needed sleep and to rest my eyes. The plot was exquisitely crafted, the interactions between all the characters flawless. Both books are epic length and I was genuinely both elated and sad as I finished reading RIBUS 7: TICEES. I didn't want it to end and I cannot wait to read the next book in Shae Mills RIBUS series. If I could give this book more stars I would. If you love a deep, captivating romance, don't miss reading these books! Perfection in romance, that's all I can say.
I would give it a 2.5 to be honest My biggest beef with this book series was the lack of character development of other characters outside of becoming depressed/suicidal. We get told of several men sent back to earth to take care of the dr. but how did the mission go, what happened on the mission, did she ever learn of it since she saw messages about it. Then let's talk about how we know nothing of her past, we get told of her ex boyfriend prior to her trip, but that's it. How did her parents react, what happened for her search. And this book had small little snippets of her in her 7 year old mind during her rape which led me to believe we'd hear about the dr and his demise. but no. And let's talk about this time line, 7 years is a long bloody time. As well as the (i figure since the time frame is bonkers) that she spent nearly 3/4 years inside a cave system???? Was that laser gun powered by nuclear power that it would never break/need recharged? Now the fist book held high promise, it led to what should have been an enjoyable 2nd book in a series, yet this book left me in a meh mood. The first half of the book was ok (probably a 3 stars on story development), while the 2nd half felt rushed and filled with filler. I'm sorely upset that the book turned out how it did, for she is clearly all sorts of f'd up in her mind that won't ever heal. losing a baby/father of the baby/being alone for years/getting raped again, just throw in all the mental issues you can think of.

I must say, the story was tragic for the sake of being tragic. She is so a submissive its get on your nerves. She has a brain but used it to make pretty clothes. The whole deal with a guy that later its like a waste of time. I am curious to imagine an actress that looks like her, because lets be real. That her beauty its enough to charm every male she gets in contact with, that she has the look to mesmerize EVERY male that has contact with her its a bit much ... I... I just want to see her, because it don't make sense.
p.s It would be better if it was her hormones or something that attract them, that I get. But universal breathtaking beauty...doubtful since everyone have their personal taste in my opinion. But yeah the only things I didn't like was that the story was tragic for the sake of being tragic and even thought she has a "brain" she its stupid enough to use it in the wrong way. It was ok in the first book but here it was over the top. sight**
Please if you can stand the torture of reading about over 8 men fawning over 1 woman and she claiming to love about half of them, then this book is for you, personally I got tired. book one was exhausting but this just finished it. I mean if she was that hot why didn't they go back to earth to get more women, to top it off there is so much pages of descriptive essays about consoles and what nots, it was almost like aeronautics class or something. The icing on the cake is when the emperor 'rapes' her because she so irresistible and ends up losing his empire of more than how many planets all because the writer forgot that they cud go back to earth for more 'irrestible' women. Nah......Some people may like this but I certainly regret wasting a total of 20 hours on books 1 and 2 waiting for the other shoe to drop. No star please.
A women who hold the most powerful men's in the Galaxy in her Heart, A women who would give her life for them and she will sacrifice all to keep them safe..And alive....A powerful greedy Emperor who wants her for himself and he would stop at nothing to have her,....A Heart stopping , ( I can't breath, holding my breath kind of novel)....I just could not put the book down. What a GREAT read.. couldn't stop thinking about this story it stays with you ,...everyone listen up ..you must read RIBUS 7, and TICEES...This great story wount DISAPPOINT.....
Absolutely fantastic conclusion to this wonderful story. I was blown away by the story and the characters. It was absolutely amazing!! Just when you thought the story couldn't get any better it did!!! I'm so sad the series is over :(. Maybe Shae Mills could write some more stories based on this series and if she does I will be front and center to read all of them. One of my absolute favorite authors now!!! I can't wait to read more stories from this brilliant writer!!! I'm seriously having withdrawals. I need more Shae Mills books in my life lol!!!
I was frustrated with the drawn out process of Chelan and her self proposed solitude. I felt she was only out for herself even though she had good intentions. Which if I remember correctly? The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Yes, most of those men made bad choices however they were in a society where relationships didn't hinder their life. They looked out for the Empire first! Overall I was disappointed by the selfishness that transpired throughout the book which frustrated me to nowhere.
I read so many books that I usually don't write a review unless the story keeps me up at night to finish. And this book did just that. My emotions were definitely engaged with this book. I actually have to pause before starting another book because I am still absorbed into the world Shae Mills created. I will definitely be watching for more books from this author.
When I first started these books I wasn't sure what to expect as far as storyline and characters but let me tell you these books are fantastic. It keeps you glued to every page. To be honest I truly hated that it ended. I hope this isn't the end of the storyline. I would sincerely like to read more. Keep up the great writing you are an exceptional writer.
I fully enjoyed the emotional rollercoaster ride of emotions through this journey. The female lead is the center of controversy and upheaval. The emperor was touted as the bad seed from the beginning but his diplomatic approach to the situation leads you into a false sense of security with him.The heart wrenching loss is totally conveyed and rediscovery of the highest of highs.
