This book felt like a deep exhale in a world that constantly tells us to hustle harder and postpone joy until “someday.” Bose Akadiri does such a beautiful job reframing joy not as a reward for success, but as the foundation for a meaningful, sustainable, and impactful life.
What I appreciated most is that this is not fluffy positivity or unrealistic self-help advice. The book is grounded, thoughtful, practical, and deeply human. Bose shares personal stories, career wisdom, and tangible tools in a way that feels both inspiring and actionable. Her perspective on leadership, purpose, networking, and redefining success felt especially refreshing. I underlined so many passages because the message resonates far beyond work - it is really about how we choose to move through life.
If you are someone who has been feeling burned out, disconnected, stuck in survival mode, or successful on paper but not fulfilled internally, this book is such an important reminder that joy deserves a seat at the center of your life now, not later. Highly recommend for leaders, creatives, entrepreneurs, helpers, or honestly anyone trying to build a life that feels as good on the inside as it may look on the outside.
This book feels like it's written for me, a Millennial audience. We've seen what happens when you wait for 40 years for your time to find joy and enjoy life, but then you die first or your retirement is pulled out from under you. As a result, I think Millennials inherently understand how important it is to find joy. This book strongly argues for joy and how it can improve your networking, relationships, motivation, and resilience. He says (and I agree) that the current formula of working constantly and celebrating only after reaching goals doesn't work.
