I waited MONTHS for this book to release. Literally months. And honestly? It did not disappoint. Just the wait time alone nearly killed me!
Summer with a Succubus is basically what would happen if you took a sheltered Mormon boy, threw him into a California summer, added emotional damage, mystery, bad decisions, comedy, and an aggressively hot succubus.
This book absolutely feels like a chaotic “finding yourself” summer story. Watching this poor lad slowly evolve from innocent church boy into “sir… are you okay?” was genuinely entertaining. The comedy landed way more than I expected — maybe because I’ve experienced a few of those situations myself… looks away dramatically. 😂 And the succubus element kept things fun and messy in the best way.
There’s also an underlying mystery threaded through everything that kept me curious enough to immediately want the next book after that cliffhanger.
And listen. If you like spice? Congratulations. You are FED. The spicy scene feast is plentiful, detailed, and very confidently written. At one point I actually caught myself thinking, “Wow… I never thought I’d say this, but these people need a nap.” 🥵
Was it a little long for me personally? Yes. Did I occasionally stare at the page count like it owed me money? Also yes. But overall, it was a fun, wild summer paranormal romance ride with likable characters, chaos, comedy, temptation, and a man’s entire moral compass dissolving in real time. Like they do.
If that sounds like your kind of disaster, you’ll probably have a great time with this one.

Plot: 4/5 • Spice: 4/5 ➡️➡️➡️ You’ve got your typical Utah, Mormon-esq guy. A total bible is life, never really lived outside the church MMC, Nick. He basically takes sabbatical and goes to stay with his step-aunt in California.
Nick’s aunt Kali is a free spirit compared to Nick’s mother. She lives in a small coastal town and is very wealthy. After showing Nick around town he and Kali have dinner at the Vespera. The restaurant where Natalie is the star of the show. She preforms on the stage. Little does everyone know she’s feeding on everyone’s sexual energy.
When Nick and Natalie connect eyes an intense connection happens. Natalie gets Nick to meet her away from eyes. Natalie is a succubus. She is absolutely drawn to the pent up energy Nick is holding on to. Natalie has been “full” in so long and she thinks Nick is the way to achieve what she’s looking for.
Nick and Natalie enter a binding agreement. He will help her feed. She’s secretly out to find a way to break being a succubus. Nick falls hard. He gets to live through all those
fantasies that Natalie plays out through his head. The spice scenes are delicious. 😉
In the very end of this we have Natalie trying to break her curse still and rejecting Nick’s love. Nick has had enough. She rejected him. He’s done. He packs his bags and leaves California. Doesn’t care what happens or happened to Natalie after she basically self destructs.
There were highs and lows in this. Some parts boring, some parts had you panting. Looking forward to book 2.

So if you like your 5 peppers then this one is for you. I like my spicy, but even I’ll admit this was a little too spicy for me 🤣 but that’s a good thing right!!

The concept of the book is a unique and original take on the classic tale of the succubus. It's spicy, yes, but it weaves beautifully into the plot. That being said, I think this book has rewired my brain more than any other book I've read. Those who love romance will fall for the MMC Nick, a sweet young man from Utah trying to find himself; lovers of dark romance will gasp and scream for the FMC Natalie teasing out his true nature. Add in exquisitely detailed horror scenes and you will NOT be able to put this book down.
The easiest 5/5 I've ever given, and I cannot wait to read book 2!

I've been waiting for this book and was so excited to finally dive into M.U. Thorne's story. Oh my goodness did it deliver. Heart-racing encounters coupled with insane action within a small town setting. There is a perfect balance between description and action that keeps readers both informed and engaged.
My favourite part is the FMC Natalie. From the very beginning, I found her fiery and humourous. As readers dive deeper, I love the character development and vulnerability that is presented. I definitely am a fan of hers. By the book's end, I was left wanting more.
For a dark paranormal romance, there is an assortment of magic, passion, and conflict that will keep readers on their toes. Do keep in mind that there are some trigger warnings that you should read before diving in just in case. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Overall absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it to all dark romance lovers and spooky lovers.
This book made me lowkey hate the author for the ending 🤣 but it was one of my favorite 2026 reads! As someone who grew up like Nick I have never felt more seen. The attention to detail that was in this book was amazing. Lowkey need a succubus summer now. The author somehow combined spicy and spooky amazingly! You can go from checking over your shoulder to steamy in 2 pages.
