Welcome to The Ludzecky Sisters, a brand new contemporary romance series from NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Kathryn Shay. These six beautiful blond sisters try to make their way in the world after a tragedy strikes their family. Each book has a cameo appearance by one of the sexy heroes from Shay’s beloved O’Neil series.
Elizabeita Ludzecky is two different one the risk-taking, hip, wild child in the Ludzecky family. Her other side is the Rhodes Scholar and businesswoman who works at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The problem is she doesn’t know which is the real her. But what she does understand is the secret she carries inside her, and how it’s helped her survive a family fraught with tragedy.
Hardened cop Nick Casella decides to leave the NYPD because of his distaste for anti-police sentiment that developed after several high profile shootings were not prosecuted in the courts. But he’s asked to be part of a task force for the NYPD, an undercover unit specializing in unique crimes. He’s sent to the Met, ostensibly as a new employee do to set ups and other odd jobs. The famous museum has been besieged by odd emails, hackers and maybe even a stalker.
Nick works with Elizabeita when they put up a new exhibit and, at first, is not at all charmed by her winsomeness, her upbeat attitude about life or her sexy charisma. She’s a baby anyway, as he has more than a decade on her. But she’s getting the emails, too, and might be a victim, so he has to spend time with her. When she sets her sights on him, his first instinct is to run in the other direction. Soon, that changes dramatically. With secret and lies as the basis of a relationship, especially an older man/younger woman romance, does it have any chance of surviving?

Kathryn Shay is a lifelong writer. At fifteen, she penned her first 'romance,' a short story about a female newspaper reporter in New York City and her fight to make a name for herself in a world of male journalists - and with one hardheaded editor in particular. Looking back, Kathryn says she should have known then that writing was in her future. But as so often happens, fate sent her detouring down another path.
Fully intending to pursue her dream of big city lights and success in the literary world, Kathryn took every creative writing class available at the small private women's college she attended in upstate New York. Instead, other dreams took precedence. She met and subsequently married a wonderful guy who'd attended a neighboring school, then completed her practice teaching, a requirement for the education degree she never intended to use. But says Kathryn, "I fell in love with teaching the first day I was up in front of a class, and knew I was meant to do that."
Kathryn went on to build a successful career in the New York state school system, thoroughly enjoying her work with adolescents. But by the early 1990s, she'd again made room in her life for writing. It was then that she submitted her first manuscript to publishers and agents. Despite enduring two years of rejections, she persevered. And on a snowy December afternoon in 1994, Kathryn Shay sold her first book to Harlequin Superromance.
Since that first sale, Kathryn has written twenty-one books for Harlequin, nine mainstream contemporary romances for the Berkley Publishing Group, and two online novellas, which Berkley then published in traditional print format.
Kathryn has become known for her powerful characterizations - readers say they feel they know the people in her books - and her heart-wrenching, emotional writing (her favorite comments are that fans cried while reading her books or stayed up late to finish them). In testament to her skill, the author has won five RT BookClub Magazine Reviewers Choice Awards, three Holt Medallions, two Desert Quill Awards, the Golden Leaf Award, and several online accolades.
Even in light of her writing success, that initial love of teaching never wavered for Kathryn. She finished out her teaching career in 2004, retiring from the same school where her career began. These days, she lives in upstate New York with her husband and two children. "My life is very full," she reports, "but very happy. I consider myself fortunate to have been able to pursue and achieve my dreams."
Elizabeita ("Lizzie") is the youngest sister in the Ludzecky family and the most adventurous and daring. After what her family has gone through in the last few years she uses these adventures to keep her anxiety under control. No one knows that she is doing that until she meets Nick who is not only older than Lizzie but also a retired police officer, widower and single father to a little girl.
Nick is looking for all the things he had with is late wife and Lizzie's recklessness frightens him while at the same time makes him feel younger and more alive. This was a wonderful end to a wonderful series and I enjoyed each and every book from the first to the last.
I received a copy of the book in exchange for my review. Review was first posted at Blushing Reads
Love Story is the sixth and last book of the Ludzecky Sisters by Kathryn Shay. I've only had the privilege of reading two books from this series, but I'm looking forward to catching up with the rest sooner rather than later. Elizabeita is the youngest sister in the Ludzecky family and the most adventurous and daring. Most of that started after everything that the family had to go through during the last few years. She used these adventures to keep her anxiety under control and up until she met Nick no one else knew what she had been doing. Nick was quite a bit older than Lizzie. He was a retired police officer, widower and a single father to a little girl. He like his life organized and quiet, but he also found himself lonely at times. He missed the friendship, camaraderie and intimacy that he had with his late wife, but didn't think that he would ever find it again until he met Elizabeita. Her recklessness frightened him, but at the same time he found her fun loving and free. It made him feel younger and more alive. Now he just needed to do his job and hope that when Lizzie found out what he did that she wouldn't feel like he had deceived her.
I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
I'm reading the series backwards since this the first I read. I read a review that says it would be better to read Luke's and the O'Neill's stories first but really I have to say I am not sure that is true. I liked getting the backstory at the same time Nick did, it made it part of getting to know Elizabeita. Nick has his own backstory to learn about too. Each of their past made them who they were in the story so it made it a great read to not know those ahead of time. This is a true love story, a story of discovery, learning to trust, falling in love, almost losing that love, and finding your way back to that love. I enjoyed the whole book and had a hard time putting it down to do anything else. Nick and Elizabeita really are an interesting, fun, and sometimes frustrating couple.
I could write a review like the rest, giving you a synopsis of the story. But though the story is filled with intrigue and love, it is much more than that. Elizabethia is the youngest of the Ludsecky sisters and considered a risk taker by the family. Nick is an retired Captain of NYPD working undercover (as part of a special task force) at the museum Lizzie/Elizabethia works. That said, it's a story of deep heartbreaks, lonely people, redemption, trust and love. We are dealing with two individuals who have experienced great highs and great lows in their lives. When it seems that things are great for them, an issue of lies by omission and trust sets them apart. Join the cast of well develop characters in this lovely story. You will not regret it.
Lizzie and Nick meet while he is undercover at the Met where Lizzie works. There is a threat and Nick is sent to investigate. Sparks fly when these two meet but will the risk taker in Lizzie be willing to risk love and a lifetime with Nick?
The Ludzecky series is fantastic but even thought this series and each book can be read as stand alone, it helps to read Luke's story and the Oneil series prior to reading the Ludzecky series. It also helps to read the author's note at the end of each book to gain a better understanding of the characters.
Kathryn Shay has once again created an excellent book, Love Story, Book 6 in the Ludzecky Sisters series. This book features Lizzie, the youngest of the sisters, and Nick who is currently investigating threatening emails that are being received at the art museum where Lizzie works. Kathryn portrays the women in this series as strong, but who show their vulnerabilities because of tragedy that strikes the Ludzecky family. This is an excellent series to read!
Oh so wonderful this story is! You don't have to have read the previous stories in order to thoroughly enjoy this story. I can't describe how great it is. Touching and emotional, it keeps you guessing until the end.
I love all of Kathryn Shay's books. I have read all of The Ludzecky Sisters books. I'm hoping there will be more books about the sisters and the O'Neils. I feel like I am part of their families.
