Welcome to The Ludzecky Sisters, a brand new contemporary romance series from NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Kathryn Shay. These six beautiful blond sisters try to make their way in the world after a tragedy strikes their family. Each book has a cameo appearance by one of the sexy heroes from Shay’s beloved O’Neil series.
Of all the Ludzecky sisters, Sofia is the calmest one. She’s had to be. Diagnosed with leukemia at sixteen, the disease has affected her entire life. When bad things have happened to her—her father’s death, her Secret Service sister and brother getting shot, and most recently the horrible deaths of her brothers-in-law--Sofia has gone into herself and found the strength to help her sisters out and also take care of herself. The easy going, laid back lifestyle suits her and she likes it. Her chosen profession is as a yoga instructor and owner of Serenity Yoga, which enhances this way of living.
Football Coach Max Walker doesn’t know what to make of this sweet, shy woman who is hired by his high school to teach yoga to students. But he’s head of the Physical Education department and will have to deal with her every day. Soon he comes to learn how special she is, and though he’s steered clear of serious romance, he’s drawn to her. But she shies away from him—big time. Why? Women usually flock to Max.
Little does he know that his outgoing personality, his rabid bent for competition and his boisterous athletic family upset her. Opposites attract is not true in her case. But Max wants her, and he’s always gotten what he wants.

"Shay’s powerful characters and emotional topics strike a chord with her readers and have earned her a well-deserved place among the top romance authors.” Waldenbooks Romantic Reader
Kathryn Shay is a lifelong writer. At fifteen, she penned her first 'romance,' a short story about a female newspaper reporter in New York City and her fight to make a name for herself in a world of male journalists - and with one hardheaded editor in particular. Looking back, Kathryn says she should have known then that writing was in her future. But as so often happens, fate sent her detouring down another path.
Fully intending to pursue her dream of big city lights and success in the literary world, Kathryn took every creative writing class available at the small private women's college she attended in upstate New York. Instead, other dreams took precedence. She met and subsequently married a wonderful guy who'd attended a neighboring school, then completed her practice teaching, a requirement for the education degree she never intended to use. But says Kathryn, "I fell in love with teaching the first day I was up in front of a class, and knew I was meant to do that."
Kathryn went on to build a successful career in the New York state school system, thoroughly enjoying her work with adolescents. But by the early 1990s, she'd again made room in her life for writing. It was then that she submitted her first manuscript to publishers and agents. Despite enduring two years of rejections, she persevered. And on a snowy December afternoon in 1994, Kathryn Shay sold her first book to Harlequin Superromance.
Since that first sale, Kathryn has written twenty-one books for Harlequin, nine mainstream contemporary romances for the Berkley Publishing Group, and two online novellas, which Berkley then published in traditional print format.
Kathryn has become known for her powerful characterizations - readers say they feel they know the people in her books - and her heart-wrenching, emotional writing (her favorite comments are that fans cried while reading her books or stayed up late to finish them). In testament to her skill, the author has won five RT BookClub Magazine Reviewers Choice Awards, three Holt Medallions, two Desert Quill Awards, the Golden Leaf Award, and several online accolades.
Even in light of her writing success, that initial love of teaching never wavered for Kathryn. She finished out her teaching career in 2004, retiring from the same school where her career began. These days, she lives in upstate New York with her husband and two children. "My life is very full," she reports, "but very happy. I consider myself fortunate to have been able to pursue and achieve my dreams."
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is the fifth book in Ms. Shay's The Ludzecky Sisters series. I really suggest reading them in order. The large family is in each book and knowing the previous history helps to keep you from getting a little lost. Handle With Care is the story of Sofia. She had leukemia as a child and her family has definitely treated her with kid gloves and worried about her endlessly. She's tired of it. She has used yoga to help her through hard times and is now a yoga instructor. Sofia is brought in to teach yoga to the local football team. First she has to convince Max, the coach, that they can benefit from it. Some pretty hilarious lessons for Max follow. He is really attracted to Sofia, but she takes her time warming up to him. My favorite part of the book was when Max basically has to run the gauntlet of her family. She also has to survive a dinner with his mother and all his brothers--the brothers who had offended her previously. You've got to love family! This is a great read about family, love and surviving difficult times.

This was a wonderful read about a woman who due to a childhood illness hasn't always been treated as a woman by her family. Max is drawn to her and loved the mix of funny and sad moments in this book.
I received a copy of the book in exchange for my review. Review was first posted at Blushing Reads
Handle with Care is the fifth book in the Ludzecky Sisters series by Kathryn Shay. Sofia has learned to enjoy the simple things in her life since she survived having Leukemia as a teenager. Now owning and running her Yoga studio, spending time with her family and friends were the things that she thought were important in her life. She hasn't had a serious relationship in years and has found it difficult to trust anyone after her boyfriend dumping her when she was sick and needed him the most. Max didn't want to believe that Sofia and Yoga could be anything that he and his high school athletes needed to improve on their sport, but soon Max was a believer. Something about Sofia and her life attracted Max more than he was willing to admit in the beginning, but he soon can't deny his feelings. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the other books in this series and getting to know more about the Ludzecky family.
I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Handle With Care. Kathryn creates real life situations and allows her characters to have flaws and be believable. Sofia and Max confront a health scare that in the past has scarred them and shaped their view how they deal with it. Kathryn allows both characters to become vulnerable and learn to reach out to each other. You cannot go wrong by choosing this book.
If you haven't read any of Kathryn Shay's books you are truly missing out on something. Sofia was sick as a child so now as an adult she tries to eat healthy and she owns a yoga studio. When she is introduced to the football coach at the high school, Max, he thinks yoga is for sissies. Once he tries it and they get to know one another he starts to understand that there is a lot more to it, and her. Wonderful story, emotional, grabs the reader from the beginning.
Kathryn Shay has another great story with Sophia Ludzecky and Max Walker. They meet at the high school Max teaches at when Sophia agrees to teach yoga at the high school. As they begin to know each other, things heat up quickly but life has a way of interfering. Will that have a HEA?
