Rate this book
Fall From Grace is Book #1 of 2 Christian Romance books and offers a FREE Preview of the Glen Ellen Story. It begins with the story of Kevin Pierce, an ER doctor whose life falls apart when he fails to save a young girl who resembles his late niece, a niece who lost her life while he was behind the wheel. In order to escape his painful memories, he leaves LA for a small town by the ocean, hoping to rebuild his life and rediscover God’s purpose for his life. This story highlights Kevin’s journey from hopelessness, his hopes, his struggles, and his achievements as God shows him a different path to healing.

*This is a FREE Preview and not a stand-alone novel*

In this first book, Kevin, a resident ER doctor has his world turned upside down when he fails to save a teenage girl named Rachel injured from an auto accident. What complicates matters is Rachel resembles Sarah, his late niece who died while he was behind the wheel. While Kevin still blames himself for Sarah’s death, his failure to save Rachel causes his life to spiral downward. Unable to cope with the overwhelming guilt, he escapes to a small town in Northern California where he hopes to find God and a resolution to the devastation he feels. But the overwhelming emotional pain paralyzes him and just when he is at his limit, his life takes another unexpected twist when he accidentally meets Stephanie, Rachel’s mother who has also escaped to the same small town to live with her parents. Kevin is torn between feelings of guilt and indebtedness when he finds out Stephanie wants him to help her heal from the loss of Rachel. Can he come to grips with the painful events in his life and travel down the road to recovery with Stephanie by his side, or will he reject her help?

Stephanie Knight is a single mother who suffers the loss of her daughter Rachel to a tragic car accident. Even though she has a close relationship with her mother Valerie and a strong faith in God, she struggles with the question of why God would allow Rachel to be taken so early. She relocates to her parent’s home in Northern California to escape the depressing memories of her daughter and to take time to heal. With God’s help and her mother’s support, she manages to cope with the loss of Rachel. But to her surprise, she finds out that Kevin Pierce, the same doctor who couldn’t save Rachel, is also living there. When she notices that Kevin’s life has spiraled into a place darker than her own, her heart goes out to him and she proposes they work together to help each other heal. But will he accept her help and forge an unlikely relationship? Or will Kevin reject her and miss out on an opportunity to experience sacrificial love?

Ends in the middle of the story

If it is a book then it should have a beginning, middle and ending like all books. This one requires that you purchase the 2nd book in the series to get to the ending. It should have had an ending and then the 2nd series continues to something else. It was very frustrating to get here and not have then ending.

I found this book quite depressing. Maybe it's just where I'm at, but dwelling on grief is not what I want in a story. There was a lot of telling in the story and very little actually happening. I skimmed the last part hoping the story would pick up, but was disappointed.

The book kept my interest, but very disappointed with the ending. The book didn't even finish the first story to be able to read what happened. The first book is $0. You have to buy the second book to see what happens. I think if the book would have ended knowing what happened and then continuing the story that would have been okay and would have gladly paid for the second book. I did buy the book because I want to see what happens . Don't think I would be reading this author anytime soon. Too bad. I have never written a review because I don't like to be negative in any way but felt I had to in this instance.

This book made me think a lot about how hard the job of a doctor is, especially those who are in emergency situations and the feelings they go through after losing a patient (even when it's not their fault).
Some of it was kind of hard to get through both because of the way it was written as well as because of the topic and details (and having teenage daughters-there are two teenage girls who die).
Not sure what the second book will bring to the story, but this one wrapped up pretty nicely.

This book was depressing, at best. As someone who has battled depression for 20+ years, this story put me in a very dark place. I couldn't even read part 2. Also, the lack of proofreading was absolutely awful.

Fall From Grace

I enjoyed this read very much. It is a bittersweet read about a woman who lost her daughter and the doctor who tried to her, but is also dealing issues of his own.

A great teaser book to get you interested in grabbing the next so you can find out what happens. Read during the Corona Virus Pandemic of 2020.

So far, this book is heat breaking and very emotional physically and mentally. This is also a good book to read if the reader is religious like I am. The main character in the book is Christian just like me, and everything he does, he puts it before God since that’s what you do if you’re Christian. So far, I like this book.

This book is starting to get hopeful for a better tomorrow. The book still had a depressing touch to it, but the book feels like, the heavy weight from the characters have been lifted and tomorrow is a better day for them.

This book overall is a 4/5. It’s really sad but it’s different from other books. I’ve never read a book that has a depressing plot. So it’s different. I also like the fact that there’s romance which is adorable. I also like that’s there is a part two for this book which is even better because there’s drama. Overall, this book was good.

This is a very sad book. The doctor lost his niece in an accident and blames himself because he was driving. Years later a young girl that is the spitting image of his niece is in a car accident. He is unable to save her and his life spirals out of control as he struggles to deal with her death. The girl's mother is dealing with her own grief at losing her daughter but is able to look past that and see the doctor's grief at not being able to save her. She is determined to help him in some way. There is a sequel to this book and I plan to read it and see how God influences their lives and how they come to terms with the grief they are suffering.

The "stops" of a good man are ordered by the Lord.

The conflicts presented in the book are so realistic, how the author presented them one after the other is amazing. I am a Christian and I truly commend the author for not watering down the gospel and for presenting a biblically sound solutions to the conflicts presented. The references to waiting for God's best for one's life partner is highly commended. Great job, Kelsey MacBride!

Very good

Kevin and Stephanie each had their own loss to deal with, but where Stephanie was learning to move on, Kevin was stuck deeply embedded in his own grief. This was just a free preview and you have to read book two in the series to find out what happens. Stephanie and Kevin had decided to work through their grief together when this story ends.

I enjoyed reading the book! It has reminded me that God works in mysterious ways. It's encouraging to believers to know that you can never fall so far where the hand of God can not reach you. Keep up the good work!

Interesting book. Will have to read book 2 for the rest of the story. This is kind of a prequel to the romance part of the story. This seems to be the style of this author. Two book series that leaves the story incomplete without reading the second part.

This is a prequel rather than a stand alone book. It does a good job of creating a desire to discover more. The author gives an intimate revelation of the profound impact of grief on two people who are driven down very divergent paths after their lives intersect when a tragedy strikes.

Christian with no romance

I enjoy Christian romance books but this wasn't be of them. The writing was stiff, the Christian theme was so heavy and in your face that I could only skim it, and no romance or even chemistry in this book. I can not recommend this book.

Wonderful

We need more Christian reading in the free book selections. They are inspirations and reinforce belief to many sittings on the fence in choosing God or evil.
