What happens when a broken Marine collides with a girl running from a haunting past? Will the two be each other's saviors or will the havoc, chaos and insanity from their lives consume them? Contains Havo, Chaos, and Insanity.
HAVOC: Our boy Clint or 'Grim' as everyone calls him has it bad for Haven, "I won't be the reason that tear falls. Not now. Not ever. Not if I can help it." I mean the boy will do anything for her and if someone tries to stand in his way he finds his voice and stands up, "and I appreciate the concern, but I'm not leaving until she opens her eyes and I know she's all right. Period. You can lecture me if you like about everything that I need to be doing, but honestly, I'm not going anywhere until she opens her goddamn eyes, Sir." I liked how as the story grew so didn't Haven's confidence, "she seductively bites her bottom lip, and I feel myself immediately regretting those words. I'm about thirty seconds from saying 'eff the world' and handling business. Over and over again." Xavier was very naughty and left us a nasty cliffhanger I wasn't pleased but I'm looking forward to the next book
CHAOS: **************MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS**********************************************NOT SAYING THERE IS BUT READ AT YOUR OWN RISK**********************************************
It is books like this that I like to have a personal relationship with the authors because I can't really REALLY share my true thoughts on a person's actions in my reviews because I get shot down not by the authors but by other readers, Xavier got a full ear from me and it wasn't all that nice (no I wasn't mean to her just to the characters. The beginning of the book I was like yeah, alright I can see a happy ending going on between Clint aka 'Grim' and Haven: She places a hand on her hip, a displeased look in her eyes. "Have you been listening?" My eyes shoot up from her lower half as she sighs happily. "Clint Thomas Walker." "What do you expect? You're naked..." I shrug. I mean things were going smoothly Haven was starting to build a name for herself a life for herself you know the things she didn't have before Clint, and Clint he was being open and well okay sort of there are somethings that boy won't touch with a ten foot pole, but they were together getting along, "she giggles and shakes her head, "I'm sure after Mindy's party I can help welcome you home a third and fourth time..." My balls tighten in anticipation." Then something or a few things get in the way and well this might be where there are some ********************************SPOILER ALERT***********************************
Things change between Haven and Xavier is talking to me you got to see it form her point of view and I was like Hell to the no woman no matter what the eff is going on that behavior is just unexcusable! And then there was Clint that boy don't know how to handle s***, okay well in one situation he did the other one I thought he was a total wuss. The ending was like effing seriously Xavier you ended it like that the eff! Woman. But it was a still a good read
INSANITY: Clint and Haven have issues I mean I gave the boy some major props for holding himself back, "I really hate to have to say this, but we have to get up." My body's reaction to being so close to her has me groaning. I shift so my c*** doesn't knock against her. Effing ba****." Once you know both Haven and Clint removed their heads from their butts it was a pleasant story to read, but they both have bad timing in wanting to have sex, "my c*** stiffens harder in my boxers just as my phone vibrates again reminding me I have to go. I have to effing leave. Worst timing. Reluctantly, I pull my lips from hers, I whisper, "Angel. I gotta go." I'm glad to see this chapter close I would love it if some of Clint's boys got a story of their own.
being a blogger I get the chance to interact with many talented authors. I get the opportunity to do my favorite thing, and that's to read a lot of amazing genres. I have to say that Xavier Neal is by far one of my favorite authors.
this series is beyond words. you have 3 men all with demons that they need to face. Grim is the possessive dominant alpha of this group, who needs to face the loss of his mother and not so stable relationship with his father. along comes Haven, damaged broken and Grim s reason to live. he finds her lifeless on his front lawn, and at that moment he was determined to protect her. these two have love, loss, and drama.
Gloves demons are the fact he was in foster care, that no one wanted him. Until Mandy comes along. the moment he laid eyes on her he was done. He makes jokes about everything, to cover the self doubt he has about himself. Mandy and Glove are good for each other.
Lordy,O Lordy, he is your typical gentleman. a true southern man, that is madly in love with Jazz. his superior officer. they know that they can't act on their feelings. But when Jazz's life is put in danger they go back to where he doesn't want to go. home to deal with a family he hasn't seen in 4 years. secrets come out, things are kept a secret. what happens you will need to one clock to find out.
all of these men are sexy as hell alphas who fight for what they want and believe in.
it was an amazing honor to read this series. Xavier Neal is amazing, fantabulous, talented author. I want more and plan on adding more to my library.
I liked the story overall... It just after a while I just... stop caring. Yes it sounds odd but in the beginning I was all in this book and then probably mid way in the second book I was like... okay I sorta am over it.
Honestly after a while the woe is me got on my nerves with Clint. This dude had so many issues and after a while I was exhausted with it. I get he had to work through them but damn it took 3 whole books to do it and not until close to end of book 3 lol. Also the "WOW" moment when he meets Haven.. bugged the hell out of me.. instant love doesn't bother me... but the whole "she glowed" did.
All he ever wanted was to be a Marine. This Is one of the Best of Xavier Neal's books. Though his struggle with his emotions and his Damon's with his Dad, and his Mother death, Clint/Grimes goes though alot with His father always not being there, To the pressure of always being better. Love how Xavier told the story with little though backs from the past. I wanted to smack Heaven, I get the fact she was struggling to cope with all she has been though with her abuse and such..But did she had to go there and Kiss Michele knowing she was dating someone else. Though it all he remained faithful. Another fantastic story by Xavier
Havoc review: I read this book because it came up on recommended books list. I absolutely loved it! Grim and Haven get together in what can only be described as a miracle. The way they started off their relationship of course greatly affects how they interact and causes even more problems when she becomes less dependent on him. This book is the first in a series so it does end on a cliffhanger but they are all out so you can read them all back to back! Note: it has been a little while since I read the others in this series so stay tuned for more reviews as I will have to do some rereading
Lovely Love Story with lots of intrigue, suspense, Romance and a lot of Alpha Males. Haven was lovely and had plenty of internal strength to get through the nightmare of her teen years. Clint/Grimm/Slugger was Alpha except when it came to his beloved Haven. Loved this little enclave and how everyone had specific duties to ensure the community's safety. Well written and nicely researched.
I loved this series. Reading them as published, the cliffhanger ending of book 1 both made me crazy and eager to read on. I laughed, cried, and hoped for the cast of characters. Xavier's writing style drops you right into action introducing you to the characters as the story unfolds. Definitely recommend this book series.
In my opinion you write very good series, lots of daily conflict, drama, excitement , stories I cannot put down. I do wish the women were a bit more bad ass when it comes to being by their man's slide but ,still I like your books
These were absolutely amazing books. I was hooked from the beginning! I stayed up way to late reading many nights because i could not put them down.
Haven has had a rough life that no one deserves to live. Being held captive is hard to imagine! She survives four years before managing to escape. When she can no longer run she collapse right in the yard of the one person who will kill to keep her safe! This is where she begins living again no matter what else may come her way.
Grim stopped living when he was 10. The one person he lived for died and it changed him for the worst. As he struggles with his past he may not come out sane. One day he finds an angel that can change all that to save him from insanity.
To find out how it all turns you, you got to read this series!!!
Okay I have to say I love the story and characters it's awesome. But I do have to say if you're going to write a book about Marines then you really have to do your research on them when it comes to the lingo, and the way they talk basically. A Marine is a Marine and you do not call a Marine a soldier that's the only thing I have to say about this book is that Marines are not soldiers Marines are Marines, my brother is a Marine and they've earned that title they work for that title so other than that I have love love love this book and the concept of it and the storyline so great job!
I just discovered Xavier Neal's books and if the if all her books are written like this one....she's going to be in my top ten list of writers....the story is told from Clint's POV..an alpha male who was lost to everyone emotionally...until he rescues his angel with broken and battered wings....he brought Haven back to life...but the moral of this story is he was the one broken..and through trials and tribulations, they both mended each other with the help of good family and friends.
I love this series. As a survivor of domestic abuse this book resonated with me in so many ways. I loved that the heroine understood that she needed to find herself before pledging her love to her hero. My heart broke for the hero who only wanted to protect the woman he loves. The growth that they experience together gives me hope that once I heal all my broken pieces real love will be waiting for me as well. Xavier you are a true talent and I can't wait for your next novel.
At first I was worried because I never really got to hear Haven's voice, I felt like I was missing out. After a while though and some wise words from Xavier I know that it wasn't her place. Grim is a man who has a whole lot of heart. Haven is a women who has come from a bad situation. When the two collide things go really well at first, then not so well, then well again, then back to not so well. In the end though It was a great book and a fantastic read.
I've read and reviewed all of these books separately and wanted to drop a blurb here, too. This series is amazing. I bought the boxed set so I could reread the first two books before I started the third, uninterrupted. It's an emotional journey for several people, a dramatic and scary thriller with murder and mayhem, and hot Marines. I loved it!
What an amazing set of books. I couldn't put this box set down, and ended up reading all three books in less then 3 days. I highly recommend this series! Well worth every cent!
I'm new to Xavier Neal's books but I will say this.....I have not been disappointed! Sit back, relax and enjoy. I'm going to go on to Glove and Mandy's story now
