This was a truly wonderful story I loved it. Giving something back to someone else. Even though Harry knew he was ill, two illnesses cancer and his heart. He didn't give up on Finn. I will remember this book for ever. Would recommend have the tissues ready

Outstanding. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A novel has not affected me like this for a long time!
J A Crawshaw very successfully brings both divine masculine and divine feminine energy to the page; it’s truly incredible.
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone. If you love Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, The Choice, The Best of Me…) you’ll absolutely love this book, which is also worthy of the big screen please!
An emotional and heart wrenching novel; as you’re drawn into the journey of Harry’s life, whilst being cocooned by the captivating descriptions of the Lake District.
I really don’t want to give too much away, but all I’ll say it that if you sit in a daze, as I did, after reading “Daisy”then I’m confident you’ll reflect on your own relationships, with the many people in your life, and if you are lucky enough to have or maybe had someone in your life that brought out the best in you; made you feel unapologetically free to be your true self; offered you support and protection to make you feel safe without feeling smothered; accepted your vulnerabilities as well as your strengths; had time to talk openly to you but also truly listened…then that kind of connection, that kind of love, it changes your life for ever. Even if those people are only passing through, it is a reminder that love's power extends beyond the presence of our beloved, providing solace and healing through memory and enduring affection. If you still have that person in your life, this book is a reminder to treasure them like the “piece of gold in a valley of rocks” that they are.
I mean, WOW, to me, this book reinforces that love itself can be the antidote to the different types of pain and suffering we can all experience and endure. It emphasises that the love you feel, even after a loss, continues to shape and strengthen you, proving that genuine love never truly dies.
Yet another outstanding novel from J A Crawshaw, that truly touches the mind and the soul.

J.A.Crawshaw is known for his plot twists and passion, and this book is no exception.
The story begins in London, with Harry, a former headmaster who following a heart attack , is forced into retirement, due to his ill health.
He moves north , to the peace , tranquillity, and scenery of the Lake District to write a novel.
Not long after he arrives, he meets and falls in love with Daisy , and his life begins to take some unexpected turns, which will change his future beyond anything he could have imagined.
Truly heart-breaking in places, a raw , emotional, and empowering rollercoaster of a read.
I loved it and in my opinion, this book is his best work to date !

Emotional and powerful
This joins my collection of all time great novels. I couldn't put it down. What a roller coaster of emotions. Beautifully written, pictures painted in words. I loved it!
Cannot wait to read more by I A Crawshaw.

I loved this book, the first I've read by this author. I enjoyed everything about it.
The story begins with an event that is outside Harry's control. As a result, he makes life changing decisions that he doesn't particularly want, and that he begins to doubt the sanity of, when he arrives in the Lake District in winter.
But, as often happens in life, these forced changes herald a new and wonderful chapter in Harry's life.
The author describes the Lake District; the views, the changing faces of nature as the seasons progress, and the wildlife, through the eyes of a southerner just moved up from London - Harry. And it is breathtaking writing, the words so evocative, the reader can feel the warmth of the sun, hear the birds chatter and the cries of the eagle, feel the springy texture of the earth underfoot and smell the scent of spring flowers.
Of course, life doesn't run smoothly. When does it? There is heartbreaking tragedy, and seemingly unsurmountable difficulties. Harry struggles with his decisions and where his life is going. But then fate steps in again, and though the passage of life is anything but smooth, he learns to trust it, and perseveres, with the most magical outcome.
This book is cleverly written. There are comments and references throughout to the odd way that life has of working itself out. Harry never achieves the purpose for which he went to the Lake District in the first place. Instead, his life takes twists and turns he could have never imagined, he develops a relationship he could have never hoped for, and he finally breaks free of the fear of being a disappointment. It is a life affirming read in every way possible.
I will be reading more from this exceptional author.

If you love a book that will give you the feel, have you crying a river & blowing snot bubbles, then this is a book for you.
Ok, so you know I like going into book blind, as I like to experience the journey, the escapism 1st hand, so that means I 100% judge a book by it's cover, & this one I was seduced by my favourite flower the daisy thinking it would be a chilled HEA for a weekend read - How wrong was I!!
You follow Harry as he has to give up work due to illness & is moving to the Lake district to rest, recoup & write as his dream was always to write a book. he settles in the village meets the locals & one special one & about 1/4 of the way through BANG!! life is turned upside down on many different facets & you find yourself in a heart-breaking novel full of gritty realism, emotion & relatability that you would have to have a heart of steel not to need a pack of tissues!
It's beautifully written, with references to real places in the Lakes which are described beautifully, it's mid-paced which I think it needs with all the emotional turmoil! & the character development is superb.
Overall, a really enjoyable, but emotional read. I love it when a book surprises me & this one totally did in a really good way. It should depth of character & a plot line full of heart, 100% recommend.

What a magnificent, emotional book which had me hooked within the first chapter
J A Crawshaw certainly writes from the heart
The depth of his characters, his storyline is edgy and such a twist near I nearing the end
I have so far read all his books and not one has disappointed me, infact all of them are 5 stars and more
