Bunny Slippers

When the world’s most feared assassin quits his job, the assassins’ guild declares open season—on him.

Bunny, legendary killer and part-time security-software mogul, has just refused a major assignment from MARI, the global murder bureaucracy that raised him. Their response? A $15 million bounty and six thousand assassins eager to collect. Unfortunately for them, Bunny has rules, grudges, and a gift for weaponizing pure chaos.

Teaming up with his shovel-happy nephew Darcell and Kitty, a jewel-thief fashion designer with better aim than most snipers, Bunny sets out to dismantle MARI’s empire—preferably in ways that upset their accountants.

As bodies fall out of windows, zombies riot in underground labs, and an amusement park roller coaster has a very bad day, Bunny stays one step ahead of the world’s deadliest killers by having no plan at all. And when MARI retreats to a missile-stuffed cruise liner for their grand finale, Bunny proves one thing beyond

If they want a war, he’ll give them one they’ll never live to regret.

Written after the ARC from Netgalley

This is my very first arc from NetGalley so I got excited to read asap and I promised myself I would give my very honest opinion on it. So, here we go.

I'm glad that I finally finished this. I pushed myself a little to the very end because I committed to know how this story would end. Why I picked this book because the description piqued my interest. By that all, I imagined this one would be something like John Wick kind of book. Was my assumption right? Yeah, but not really.

Something I like at least the killing scenes were fun, messy, a bit irrational, but creative. I gotta give a credit to that. Darcell is interesting character and maybe The Librarian too. But, other than that, I feel like I can't understand THE MAIN character, Bunny, well because the lack of character's depth in this. It's funny how for other characters we got more back stories with them, but not Bunny. The unnecessary of love line, or poorly written of the side love story, is kinda annoying to me.

Kitty and Razor seemed like cool characters, but again, the lack of depth for these characters and random questionable scenes or decisions they were put in kinda make me sad for them. I feel like this book is written with a movie as the medium in mind, not a book. I don't know if that makes sense.

My final statement is if you want to read this, do it without thinking or just turn off your brain and expectations, maybe you will have more great time. I hope~

Bunny Slippers by Matt Peterson is about Bunny, a hitman at the very top of his game and he’s so good other hitman fear him, but when he decides not to play ball a hit is put out on him. Be sides killing bad guys Bunny also has a software security company That has some of the top fortune 500 companies on their client list so when his boss’s at Mari want him to take out a Japanese CEO bunny refuses to and the company considers him persona non grata and puts out a worldwide global hit on him. so what is the best hit man to do when every other hitman is gunning for him and that is get all the tricks in his playbook together and start knocking them off one by one being unpredictable and keeping his surprises close to his chest. This is what Bunny does with hilarity class and of course his naps. I loved the characters in this book especially him and Kitty,, his nephew Darcell, Razorblade girl and The Librarian I find the author is so good at provoking the perfect emotion in the book whether it’s dry humor quirkiness because I really could tell why he and the librarian got on so well together and how he and kitty worked so well together in their sexual tention to even his relationship with his nephew this whole book is just great it is very very long entirely too long but he said that should there be a second book I will be one of the first to sign up to read it this is an awesome author and I can’t wait to see what books he puts out in the future because if this book is anything to go by he’ll be one will be talking about for years to come so so freaking good!#NetGalley, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview,

Bunny is an assassin for hire except they are coming after him now.

It was a feel good, fun, easy read with a lot of heart. The characters were larger than life and I found myself wanting to keep reading to see what would happen next. In fact I nearly missed my train stop one morning. There were plenty of funny moments that hooked me in.

Matt Peterson has a writing style that's easy to get into, and the story flows really well. It left me smiling by the end and was just an all-around enjoyable book. I'd definitely recommend Bunny Slippers to anyone looking for a feel-good read that's entertaining, heartfelt, and memorable.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC

Very different from most of my fiction choices— but what a fun ride! The kind of book you can picture who would play the leads in a movie (Bunny- Dwayne Johnson and Darcell- the Everthing Baked baking personality guy — I don’t think he is an on the verge of being a psychopath killer— but his sincerity and levity seem to fit(?)!)
Anyways— this is one I will recommend to many of my male friends as well as the gals who like to chuckle while reading a tongue in cheek/lighthearted book with potentially more killing than the Odyssey and definitely more sexual innuendo. 007-like assassin whose conscience steers his actions. There has to be a book 2!

What is this book? Is it a myster? well, yes. Is it a romance? For sure! Does the main character have his own moral code and defend his sense of right and wrong? You bet. Do all of the bad guys get what's coming to them and the good guys do well in the end? Read and find out!
I would love a prequel.
And a sequel.
As well as a whole other cast of characters from this author.
There are some contradictions going on here; Bunny, our hero, is both a softy and a John Wick kind of guy. That's what makes the book compelling, fun to read, and one in which you'll be cheering at the end.

Received an Advanced Reader Copy from Netgalley!!

The opening was solid, and I thought this would be an exciting dive into the world of espionage and assassins. I was hoping for a deeper look into Bunny's life—both before and after his career—and what ultimately made him walk away. There are brief glimpses of his motivations, but not enough to fully explore them.
Instead, much of the story revolves around Bunny and his shovel-wielding nephew Darcell hunting down assassins before they can get to him, with frequent detours into Bunny and Kitty's romantic encounters. While the action is entertaining and chaotic, it starts to feel repetitive after a while.
The premise had tremendous potential: a legendary assassin turned against the organization that raised him while thousands of killers came after him. Unfortunately, I felt the book leaned more into over-the-top action and body counts than into the emotional stakes and character development that could have made Bunny's defection truly compelling.
Overall, Bunny Slippers is a fast-paced, absurdly violent action romp with plenty of dark humor and creative set pieces. I enjoyed parts of it, but I couldn't help feeling that such a promising premise deserved a deeper exploration.

Bunny is like the modern-day Roger Moore in a John Wick script.
With non-stop action and fast-paced dialogue, you are in for a ride that never stops till the end. And you don't want it to stop.

Review of advance copy received from Netgalley

Bunny Slippers completely surprised me. It’s packed with razor-sharp humour, brilliant banter, clever characters, and a protagonist I absolutely adored. Bunny and Kitty’s chemistry is phenomenal, and I loved how their relationship develops without falling into the usual romance clichés.

The short chapters and fast pacing made this incredibly bingeable, but it was the characters who kept me hooked. And underneath all the action, humour and assassinations, there’s so much heart.

An incredibly entertaining debut, and I’ll absolutely be following Matt Peterson’s future work.

Huge thanks to Matt Peterson, Atmosphere Press, and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
