The Party Plan is a very short yet satisfying read. It is Melanie Jayne’s debut novella into the sexy world of romance, and I have to say, she did a pretty good job.
Avery had always had her eyes on Kade, her best friend’s brother. Unfortunately, the timing was never right. Now that they are adults and have a good grasp of life, fate finally gives them a chance. This time, they are both single, in the right frame of mind and finally have their eyes on each other. Will it be just a one night stand or will they give fate a run for her money?
This book was such a fun read. I only wish it were longer. I suppose for a very short read, Jayne did great. There was not a hint of insta-love that usually happens in short stories such as this one. The inserts of their past throughout the story was a brilliant way to avoid that issue. Kade and Avery were sweet and sexy but I’d say this novella was more a sexy contemporary than erotica story. Not much else to say about a book with sixty-seven pages except, if you want a quick hot read, this is it for you! I wish Ms. Jayne good luck to her new adventures in the world of writing.
A hot sweet and short novella about a well seasoned couple who have known each other for years. Life and circumstance sent them in different directions but a festive family occasion brings them back together. They explore the attraction they've had for each other (in sexy detail) and find happiness. I enjoyed the heck out of this quick but satisfying read!
Avery had always a crush on Kade, but as a Teenager she was very shy and afterwards the situation was never right. But now, After the Engagement Party of their godson she wants to change that ...
I have to confess I am normally Not One for novellas as they are too short for me but this one was really good. I loved how the characters were descriped, often you don't See enough of them to really form an attachment in a novella. But here we learn a Lot about Avery and Kade. Their relationship seems very real and you can feel their attraction to each other.
If this would have been a novel it would have been full 5 stars!
All in all a great read, a sweet and sizzeling romance with Great characters! I am looking forward to Mrs. Jaynes next book
I'm so pleased with this very short and hot read. It is a story of two friends who have known each other for some time have decided to move it to the next level. Good cast of characters of caring, good friend, a villain of a mother and two adults who know what they want. I'm so happy for the author and her debut story!
Quite simple well written romance with few sex scenes, but a big long attraction that explodes in the present. Nice characters too. It’s just a little bit predictable. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
this was a honest book. Each character knew who they were, their flaws and their insecurities. Each knew they weren't perfect and didn’t try to be which made this refreshing.
Avery and Kade had known each other for over over 20 years. Each likes the other but was two afraid to act. Especially Kade. Kade due to this turned to have no relationships because deep down he knew his heart was already taken and not one that he could give away. His heart was waiting for Avery to claim it. Over those years Avery had a rough time-lost her parents, divorced and was swindled by her ex and this left her raw. A little on the don’t trust side of things as well. She climbed back though and like Kade through hard work and tenacity they became successful.
At a engagement party invite these two decide to go together. They had been talking to each other over the phone for weeks and now they were going to be together. For Avery she was hoping for just one night. Kade was hoping for more. His protectiveness came out in spades and was awesome to see. So was his easy going way and how he was there to stand up for her against his mom.
Kade was a awesome character. He didn’t overwhelm you. You knew he wasn’t perfect and this made him more appealing. What I loved his he saw beyond the physical to who Avery was on the inside and it was this that he saw as her real beauty. He loved her for forever and never acted and now he didn’t want to let go. His life was at a point where she could be a focus and he was at peace with himself and his achievements.
Avery was a interesting character due to her struggles and how she rose above it. Like Scarlett O’hara with Tara. She fought to bring it back and so did Avery she fought to bring back her farm and succeed.
This is a fun, sexy and sweet story of two friends who have always liked one another but were to afraid to act. After finding themselves and being comfortable with who they were they give it a shot and open up to one another and what comes about is a really wonderful friendship and romance that will have you smile.
Those looking for a little afternoon delight will find this novella a sensual and endearing journey to HEA for two people whose timing was never quite right. They're both older and wiser now though and fate has finally conspired to bring them together to answer the question "what if". The answer is a sweet and sexy one that makes this a richly satisfying read.
Kade has always loved Avery but the time was never right for him to tell her how he feels about her. No woman has ever compared and he's tired of waiting. When he's finally given the chance he sets out to show her how he feels in a sensual onslaught that had me cheering him on. Kade is a sexy and charming Alpha male whose banter with Avery crackled. He completely won me over and I was hoping every step of the way that this time would be their time.
Avery's life has been a rocky one that's left her emotionally battered and bruised. It hasn't totally crushed her though and it's that spark that has her accepting the sensual promise Kade offers. Avery's a strong woman and her time with Kade teemed with sexual tension that morphed into something more richly rewarding and fun to watch evolve.
This was a quick read that while nothing groundbreaking did give readers a more seasoned couple which sets it apart from many romances. Ample time was given to show their connection forming early on to leave you clamoring for them to finally get together in scenes richly rewarding. The characters themselves are realistic and likable, with Kade especially winning me over. Though the overall story felt a bit rushed I still found this an entertaining read that will have me searching out more from this author.
Melanie Jayne is a wonderful short story teller. She packs a punch in a short time. In this story we meet Avery and Kade...Kade is your perfectly sexy alpha male who cannot seem to settle down...(he hasn't found that right person yet) Avery has a past and is trying to heal from it. They have known each other for years and the way this book is written you get to know the characters quite quickly and you instantly fall in love with both characters. I do have a few issues with this book, the first is that in order to do a short story you have to slam it out of the park... whilst Melanie did a fabulous job, the characters and plot line I think deserved a little more time and a little more build up. That is probably me just wanting more out of these characters,I really did feel a connection I just thought it was hurried. They had an epilogue but I thought even that was hurried. I thought because of the plot and because we have such an alpha male in Kade that he cannot be rushed. With that being said...did I enjoy the book, absolutely, would I read more of Melanie Jayne...YES!! She has a phenomenal talent and the way she introduces you to a character will blow you away. I thought while developed a little fast for my taste, you could still follow the story perfectly well and I really couldn't put it down once I started, it just ended to quickly for me. Great Job Melanie Jayne! The next Alpha male from you needs to be a full blown novel!
Avery is divorced from a man she didn't love who bankrupted her family's farm. She has worked to get family business up and running again, and now she is ready to go after what she really wants in her life. She has always been attracted to her best friend's brother, and there is an upcoming event where she will finally have a chance to give herself the night of pleasure with him she has always wanted. Kade is a notorious playboy, but he has always been attracted to his sister's best friend Avery. For him, the timing was always off and then he was focused on his career. Now he is ready to finally explore his attraction and possibly more.
This was a pretty quick read, and there wasn't much too it. The characters are very likable and it is easy to connect with Avery and wish her the best. Kade is also a really enjoyable character and it is easy to see why Avery would be so eager to have some fun with him. There is definitely a villain in this story, but I like the way that person was dealt with by the other characters since the level of mean this person exuded was just so ridiculously high. Watching Avery and Kade connect in a new way was charming and sexy. I enjoyed this short read and would read more by this author in the future.
*An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review
This book was gifted by author in exchange an honest review. Kade and Avery are going to an engagement party for their mutual godson and while planning a joint gift they have reconnected via sexy text messages. Plans are made for the night after the party. I really cannot say much more without spoiling the story as it is a 68 page novella. The plot, my best friend’s big brother, while not original it works here because the story reads well even it felt rushed at time. I found it entertaining with all of the elements of a good romance/erotic novel there, in smaller doses. You have your Alpha male, your overprotective BFF/sister and some hot quick sex scenes. The sex scenes were hot but did not overpower the entire story making it that more enjoyable. I also liked that Kade and Avery's characters are seasoned and I connected well with that because I too am in my second twenties. It's nice to see writers acknowledge more mature couples as there is a difference between love in our 20's and 30's than it is in our 40’s and after. I will say I wanted more, I wanted to delve deeper. I wanted to see where some of the story-lines could have gone. However, the main characters story is told and in a short novella this is enough. This is a solid, erotic novella from a debut author and I look forward to reading more in the future.
4.5 Stars Avery and Kade have known each other for 20 years. She's his sisters best friend. While talking and texting each other about the gift they want to give their godson for his wedding, Avery and Kade grew closer than ever. Will one night be enough to get each other out of their systems? Will Kade's mother, who's never liked Avery, push her so far that she leaves Kade for good?
This is a fun, romantic, steamy, "best friends brother" story line and I loved it! Kade is amazingly sexy and he lives life on his own terms. Avery has been through some rough times and has always come out on top and is very successful in her business. Everything would be great if it weren't for his mother, Corrine. I don't understand how her children could still invite her to their gatherings when every time she opened her mouth the words were mean, cruel and poisonous. Oh well, I guess we all have villains in our families. Looking forward to reading more from this talented author.
I love stories where people finally get to have what they've wanted for so long. Avery has been through a lot. She's made sacrifices, hurt, suffered, and now that she's back on her feet she's decided to go after what she wants, and that's Kade, her best friend's brother.
Kade was interested in Avery too, although I had a feeling it was going to last longer than one night. The chemistry the two had was great and eventually so was the sex. I I thought this book was part of a series, but as it turns out, this is Melanie Jayne's debut work.
It's not very long and I read it quickly. I liked how organically the conflict was worked in. It also made sense to the story. I hope she writes more about these characters. I'd like to see how things work out for all of them in the future. Especially Kyle, who is on the same path as his Uncle Kade.
This was a totally great read from Melanie Jayne! I loved the premise, and I was instantly swept up into the story.
I wish this one had been a bit longer; the novella length seemed a bit too short for the depth of the story within. While I liked how Melanie Jayne played out all the story arcs, some moved a bit swiftly and I wish I could have spent a bit more time with the characters.
Kade and Avery were a great pair; the other characters were intriguing as well. Kade and Avery have some scorching moments between them!
Overall, a solid read from Melanie Jayne. I am excited to check out more from her in the future.
Hot, Fast, and Cheap! Well, take back the cheap there! If you only have a few minutes and you are looking for a great sexy read - look no further! The Party Plan will have you hot and bothered in a smoldering New York second as the saying goes.
Two people who have spent half their lives longing for each other find themselves unattached and at each other's beck and call. Let the flirting begin.
Not the normal genre I review on my blog, but I like experimenting with my reading every now and then. I'm giving The Party Plan a huge thumb's up.
I loved that this was an older couple erotic romance. Most often the 'older' couples in romance stories are destined to be supporting characters to the 'younger' main H/h and rarely are these mature characters seen in a sexual light. Cudo's to Melanie Jayne for writing such a heart warming story of a couple who could be any one of us readers.
4.75* This is a wonderful debt novella by Melanie Jayne! I loved everything about it. The story line was very believable, older couple who have known each other for years. The characters were sound, had great chemistry and very likable. I didn't want to put it down and I can't wait for Melanie Jayne's next book.
