On Earth, when a rebel cyborg leader is drawn into a search for answers, he doesn’t expect things to blow up. And he’s not just talking about his house. Somehow his heart explodes, too, with the last thing he ever expected—love.

Adam survived the great cyborg purge because the military made a mistake, a mistake they lived to regret. They crossed the line when they decided to take away his free will and turn him into a machine. They erroneously thought him a slave they could command.

However, their biggest screw up of all was when they didn’t terminate him at the first sign cyborgs were regaining sentience.

As the rebel cyborg leader on Earth, Adam is doing everything he can to rescue others of his kind. Part of his current, undercover mission involves infiltrating a top secret military facility where he comes in contact with a human scientist. A sexy scientist whom he’s ordered to protect.

What should have been an easy job turns into a fight for his life because it’s not just bullets and hit squads he’s got to worry about, but his heart.

How can one fragile female mean so much? It’s almost too much for a rational-minded cyborg to understand. When the choice is given, escape or let her die, he lets his heart decide, and that's when things begin to explode—literally.

Dr. Laura Cowen is close to a breakthrough on a high level top secret military funded project involving blood based nanotechnology. One last piece in the puzzle and she achieves success but she needs a live sample to experiment on to make that happen. Making her stand she tells her supervisors that she's gone as far as she can unless they supply her with a living specimen.

Adam is one of the last few cyborgs left on Earth following the military's purge. Along with fellow cyborg sidekick Roalind, Adam now leads the underground Cyborg Liberation Movement rescuing cyborgs still held in captivity when he can. Hearing about a top secret base that may harbor cyborg captives, Adams goes undercover. What better disguise than to take on the identity of a human guard. His plan should work as long as they don't find out he IS a cyborg in which case he'll be immediately terminated.

Seth & Anastasia have their own problems. Avion is dying. His only hope lies in returning to Earth to find a cure but they'll need the aide of their fellow cyborg Adam, leader of the resistance movement, to do it. Little do they realize that their search will uncover long forgotten secrets dating back to the origins of the first created cyborgs. Important information for all cyborgs, if they survive to tell what they find.

* * * *

This is the 6th installment in the Cyborgs: More Than Machines series featuring Adam. It's an action packed sci-fi erotic romance that is explosive (so you know Aramus is gonna make an appearance), suspenseful, and sensual. If you're a fan of the series, you're gonna love this one.

For the most part the author continues to provide suspense, drama, and excitement surrounding a core romance between the main characters. Think Bruce Willis Die Hard series, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator series, and yes Chris Hemsworth's Thor series and you have an idea of what you're in for reading this story.

As for the main characters. I did appreciate the instant attraction between Adam and Laura though a part of me wanted more. More to validate their coming together on both a physical and emotional level. The HAWT adult content scenes definitely covered the physical so I guess I'm saying it's the emotional aspects that I was looking for more of.

Secondary and supporting cast. This is the primary reason I'm a big fan of this author. The way she is able to humanize fictional story characters instilling those qualities that bring the story to life. I totally love how in high pressure high risk settings, when one's life is on the line, snarky humor is the best coping skill using back and forth jabs, zingers, and snark dialogue between the characters. Nothing says love more than a well placed fist to the face or well meaning promise that one of a couple will be sleeping on the couch when the world around you is exploding (again, you know Aramus is gonna be in on this) in fireworks and gunfire.

Unfortunately, for all the love I have for this installment I do have a number of issues. The bummer is that to reveal those issues are spoilers and I don't do spoilers. Vague comment mention is I have questions regarding who/what/when/why surrounding Laura's big reveal that weren't addressed to the point I was on board with events as they occurred.

While this story could be read as a standalone, maybe, it's a fun series as a whole so do check out the previous installments if you're a SFR fan. One last cautionary warning. This book ends on a cliffhanger with unresolved issues. I'm not thrilled about that but I'm giving the author latitude as Avion is scheduled for release April 23, 2015. Sooner would be better author lady as I'm not happy leaving Avion in the condition he was in at the conclusion of this installment.....

I just love the cyborgs!
Here, besides the awesome cyborgs, the heroine, Laura was just as awesome!
Finally, a heroine who knows when to be contrary and when to obey orders! *applauding".
I'm looking forward to the story of the "alien" :)

Freedom for cyborgs, it seems simple. It is all that Adam wants for his metal brethren. As a cyborg he knows what it is like to lose his freedom to the military that controlled all of his actions for a short time. The few cyborgs on Earth look to Adam for guidance, to keep them safe. He is the leader of the Earth based rebel cyborg resistance. As with all cyborgs Adam is confidant (overconfident) of his abilities to succeed in everything. Thrown in the curvy human doctor and all bets are off. Everything he has known now has new parameters that his BCI (brain computer interface) can’t seem to keep up with.

In the early days of the great cyborg purge Dr. Laura Cowen saw first-hand how the military truly viewed the men than changed into advanced warriors. While she views the cyborgs as more she has always seen the humanity that remained. That is why she has no problem see Adam as more than the machine that many view him to be. It doesn’t take the attraction long to develop into more as these two have to start fighting for their lives as the military seeks to take out what they have deemed as foe.

I love big advances in a book where it takes the series to a whole new level. Eve pulls a huge one (snickers at the pun) out of her bag of tricks with what she introduces in Adam. I’m looking forward to where this will take her Cyborgs: More Than Machines series. It opens to door to many possibilities while lining up the next couple to get a hot Langlais romance.

For the most past these books loosely work on their own although I would suggest to read them in order for the most enjoyment. Fans of the series will be pleased to see a few faces from a couple of the previous books.

Langlais returns to her world of cyborgs with an explosive and endlessly entertaining story. She further develops what makes a cyborg a cyborg. Their personalities, culture, and intrinsic makeup are all prevalent throughout the novel. I found the sneak peeks at what makes them tick just as interesting as the action of the story. At the same time, the fast paced, action packed novel was one that I couldn’t put down. The plot was well thought out and caught my attention, while the well-crafted narrative fleshed it out in a manner that I won’t soon forget.

The main couple in this novel were a hoot. Their acceptance of each other was as hopeful as their relationship was explosive. Their individual personalities shone through as they came together in order to survive. As much as I loved getting up close and personal with Adam & his little scientist, I really enjoy how the story is about something so much bigger than just them. The new characters that we meet are well developed and enigmatic. Adam and Seth’s competition was so Alpha male. One’s short forays into the story have me intrigued and perplexed. I can’t wait to find out more about her.

This was a fantastic and gripping novel that I’m definitely glad to have read. I thoroughly appreciate how Langlais continues to build on what has already happened in the series while also developing an unforgettable tale of love, acceptance, and fighting against the odds.

I'm going to give everyone a big dose of my crazy eyes this review. Happy, fangirly crazy eyes, mind you, because I love metal. These cyborgs are just so lovably insane I can't NOT love them.

Apparently, I have a weakness for men (and women) who like to blow stuff up and take incredible joy in bringing their enemies to their knees. Also, muscles. I have a weakness for those. AS ONE DOES.

So. Adam. He's a little crazed, a little cocky (lying, he's a lot cocky), and he likes his toys. The bigger, louder, and more damage it can do, the better. Also, he likens himself to Batman. WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?!?! Laura could be considered his weakness, but she turns out to be stronger than she looks.

As much as I liked Adam and Laura, however, it was Avion who got me. Poor, poor Avion. He's a little broken (lying, he's a lot broken right now), but he's still a cyborg at heart. And that means he steps into impossible situations despite his frailties and goes all kickass on those trying to pull his metal brethren down.

Not going to lie, his story is going to KICK ASS. I can feel it. (I feel the crazy eyes as I type that. YASSSSSSS!)

I seriously adore these cyborgs. They're sometimes reckless, often dangerous, and always amusing. TRIPLE YASSSSSSS!

I'm glad to say I was right and Adam's book picks right up where Seth's book left off. Adam is the leader of the cyborg resistance on earth. He has infiltrated a military installation where nanotechnology is being tested and it is suspected a cyborg is being held prisoner. At the start of the book, his job is providing guard duty to Laura, a human scientist working on the nanotechnology. Laura is tasked with trying to find a way to re-animate the nanos when they die.

This had a little bit of a slow start. Once Seth, Anastasia, and Avion arrive, it picked up. There was more to Laura then met the eye and she was a good match for Adam. There is an event that happens to Laura when she is given live nanos to work with. While Adam and Laura get the HEA, the underlying story-line ends in a cliffhanger.

What is going on? Who is One and what can she do? Will Avion be cured? (This being a romance book you can bet your ass that will be a resounding YES).

Laura is working at a high security lab with research that is so classified, she only gets half of the information she needs. She does know it´s got something to do with Cyborgs, though, and that sparks traumatic memories for her, from the rebellion years before.
Adam is the Cyborg rebel leader on Earth, and he´s spent the last years infiltrating the secret research facility. His current job is to keep an eye on dr Laura, something he´s secretly very happy about.
At the same time Avion, the cyborg suffering from the death of his nanobots, is on his way with friends to Earth, to follow his last hope. Can there be any help for him, or are his days all numbered?
PNR romance, action and smutty fluff in a great combo, can´t wait for Avion´s book and more information about One <3

Laura is a doctor who's trying to reactivate dead nanos. She suspects they're getting the nanos from a cyborg, cyborgs that the public has been told don't exist anymore. She knows this isn't true. Adam is Anastasia's ex-cyborg boyfriend who remained on earth to help the remaining cyborgs and is part of the resistance. When Anastasia, Seth and Avion return to earth to find a way to help Avion, and to discover the true origin of these nanos, Adam helps them. They discover more than they bargained for.

I continue to enjoy this science fiction romance series with plenty of action that moved right along. I liked the nerdy scientist heroine and the military fighter hero both with pragmatic behavior and expectations. Epilogue peak at the next story is very intriguing. Cyborg Adam is an undercover guard in a military laboratory where he monitors scientist Dr. Laura.

A very exciting addtion to the Cyborg series, but I think this book really needs to be read after you have read the others. While pervious books could stand alone, this one brings in some politics and history that you may not fully grasp without having read the previous books.

Adam is a rebel leader for the Cyborgs and has infiltrated a secret military base to try and figure out what they are doing and to rescue any captured Cyborgs while he is there. Here is meets a really fun scientist. I so loved her internal dialog. It really had me cracking up, and her curiosity sets off a chain of events that appears to carry through into the next book as well.

A lot of the Cyborgs we met in past books make an appearance, and they are very important players in the story - which is why you should read the previous books first. There are a few times when Avion, the main character in the next book, steals the show from our main couple here. But I really can't wait to read the next book because of it either!

There is tons of action, explosions (of multiple definitions), and it was an amazing story. I just wish it had concentrated on Adam and his girl a little more.

Things have really taken on a suspenseful and mysterious quality toward the end of the series as gov't cover ups and new aggression toward the cyborgs happen. This book introduced a new to me cyborg and situation back on earth. I was into it from page one and couldn't put this book down. Regular characters were fun like Seth and Ana and Aramus. New ones like Adam and his lady scientist were great as were the other storyline of Avion and One. There was lots of action, witty humor, passion, and things ended on a very exciting note. Can't wait for what comes next. Eve's cyborgs rule. Can't wait for the grand finale book that will give all the answers.

Loved the book ,the characters; they have depth and easy to get caught up with their emotions. Once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down because you just want to see what is going to happen next. Highly recommended, anxious to read book seven and just keep them coming.

Review originally posted at RabidReads.ca.

I had to step away from the cyborg world for a little while because of other reviews that were needed. However, they insisted that I come back to them. I started several books and none of them were really fitting my mood. I guess Adam decided it was time for me to come back to the cyborgs, because I flew through this book without issue.

So, this series is a sci-fi romance. We have a new couple in each book, but there is an overarching story arc as the cyborgs continue to fight their oppression from humans. I highly recommend reading this series in order. It will help you completely understand the plight of the cyborgs. Throughout the series, we’ve learned more and more in each book what it took for cyborgs to be their own person, in this world run by humans. It doesn’t matter that the cyborgs were once human themselves, once that transition was made into cyborg (be it willingly or not), humans didn’t consider them to be equal anymore.

Adam has been living on Earth, while most of the other cyborgs have left the planet. He is undercover as a human in the military. He is working to try to rescue any cyborgs that he can find that are still under the control of humans. Cyborgs on Earth aren’t supposed to exist anymore. They all either escaped and left the planet or were exterminated. However, Adam has found a few.

Dr. Laura Cowen is a scientist. She is working for the military, but she has a soft spot for cyborgs. She doesn’t believe that the extermination should’ve happened. These were once people after all. They had feelings. While she worked by day as a good scientist, she also tried to smuggle what information she could to a rogue group looking to free any captive cyborgs.

Adam and Dr. Cowen had been working together for a while. Adam was assigned as a guard to help protect her. Little did they know that they were working together to help the cyborgs too. Dr. Cowen didn’t even realize that Adam was a cyborg until there was an attempt on her life and Adam had to really show off his non-human skills.

This is another great addition to the series. It is full of snark (because it is an Eve Langlais book, so you know there will be a high snark content), action, sexy times and just plain ol fun. This book also is leading up to the end of the series with the story of Avion. Poor Avion, who has been tortured by the human military. He isn’t doing well. I can’t wait to see what will happen in his book.

“I think we can do better than canvas. I scavenged some items.”
“In other words stole?”
“Only if you want to get technical. I call it commandeering for the greater good of cyborg kind.” He shrugged a knapsack off his shoulder and handed it to her.

Rolling a muscled shoulder, his shirt already shed, Adam laughed. “Then we’ll at least be clean.”
“You know, if this were a scene in a movie or a book, the audience would be screaming at us and calling us idiots.”
“Women might. Men, on the other hand, would be cheering because things are about to get naked and steamy.”
“Says who?”
“Says me. Strip, Doc.”
“Giving me orders now, are you?”
“Damned straight. I am, after all, the resistance leader. And I say resistance against what I plan is futile.”
“That has to be the cheesiest seduction line I’ve ever had the misfortune to hear.”
“Maybe, and yet you’re getting naked.”

Four and a half stars

Adam by Eve Langlais is the six in her Cyborgs: More Than Machines series, about Adam, a cyborg resistance leader on Earth, and Laura, a doctor forced into the military's employ. Adam is contacted by fellow cyborgs from offworld regarding a mission to assist a fellow cyborg, and as is typical in the course of these missions, the bullets start to fly.

Laura's time in the lab has given her little insight into what she is researching, and her bosses intend to keep her in the dark, ultimately threatening to keep her quiet in the most permanent of ways.

Adam is a fast-paced page-turner of a read, and a terrific installment in this series.

Adam is a cyborg resistance leader on earth. Under cover as a military security personal at a military scientific lab. Laura is a human who is under cover mole at the lab. As Adam is securing her lab she has no idea who and what he is as she is to him. When things get heated these two have to make sacrifices for the population. Great read.

Adam, leader of the underground Cyborg Liberation Movement rescuing cyborgs, like himself, still held in captivity on Earth, learns of a secret lab where some may be held. He goes undercover as a guard for Dr Laura Cowan. Laura has discovered a breakthrough in blood based nanotechnology. A second plot line involves cyborg Avion who is dying due to a problem with his nanotechnology. Two other cyborgs plan to take him back to Earth and find a cure for him in the labs where the people converge.

Lots of tension and action besides a romance plot. This was a better read than the last one because of the dual plots. But I do like this series because of its plot lines.

Well, that was exciting! We finally get to be back on earth, and that’s a little wild. Our cyborgs find out they didn’t know as much as they thought, and there are still things that shock them. As we race towards the final book, Adam and Laura have us all set up for what is to come!

I read "Adam" because of a challenge, and because I'd read other books by Langlais. It's the sixth book in her "More than Machines" series.

Adam, leader of band of rebel cyborgs, is deep undercover as a guard at a lab doing super-secret work for the military. He's guarding Dr. Laura Cowen, a researcher, whose project just may be the key to his learning more about a new technology that threatens cyborg survival. However, when Adam gets word that fellow cyborgs are returning to earth to try and save one of their own whose technology is failing, he's forced to reveal his identity to Laura and to save her life when it appears that she's been targeted for elimination as well. As Laura and Adam fight to save themselves and the other cyborgs, their mutual attraction bursts into flames...and Laura gets to have an Extreme Makeover.

There's nothing too new here. Both Adam and Laura are just the stereotypes: she's the sweet-but-nerdy scientist, he's the human-hating, emotionally remote action hero. However, I never really felt any chemistry between them, so when Adam loses his control and kisses Laura, it seemed rushed and formulaic. If there had been more time spent on developing their relationship, and less time on the other characters' relationships, it would have worked out better, instead of being just a set-up for the next book in the series.

There's plenty of action and suspense to keep you in the story, but I never really felt engaged with the characters. Although I'll admit I'm curious about One.

This is the sixth book in the Cyborgs series and it was just as good as all the others. Adam is one of the main characters and is the leader on Earth that is trying to rescue all the remaining cyborgs. He is posing as a human guard in a lab facility because he's been getting Intel that there might be a cyborg there. Laura is a doctor working at the lab facility researching nanos and Adam is her guard. Laura knows things might be happening but has no idea a cyborg is her guard.

Adam was a funny character and cocky but not to the point of annoyance (like Seth could be!). I loved the description of his batman like cave, very cool. I do wish there had been a little more fleshing out of his character, this book felt more adventurous and non stop than some of the others. Laura was an official badass. She wasn't a wilting flower and stood up for herself and others in more way then one.

One thing this book really did was set up the next arc for Avian and another character. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happens next! Can't wait.
