March 30, 2026OMG. This had everything you could possibly want in a book. Magic, heroes and villains, secrets and drama. Witches and demons. Love and loss.
I did not like this book. This was something so much more than like that there’s not even a word for it. This was lifelong, soulmate, can’t be apart, soul sucking, forever love. This book was absolutely incredible. I LOVE Sarra’s books. I own almost every one of them in paperback and ebook. This will be no exception.
I can tell this series is going to be life altering for all that read it. Sarra, way to go again! You freaking rock!

March 29, 2026This new adult fantasy romance was gripping and fast paced the whole way through with a well developed protagonist, an intriguing setting, and high stakes! I listened to the early version on YT in 2025, not reflective of the final version.

Turn up the volume!
Solidly entertaining read. The world building is fire. I love a really good magic system too and this book has it. So many cool uses of power all woven together.
What I was missing from the very beginning though was the love. I had and have zero reason to care about the characters and I think it's because I just don't know them. Bex especially. She TELLS me a lot of what she's feeling but I need the volume turned up like two notches. She and the others are 2-D.
The fight scenes are a little too easily won as well. There is danger, yes, and dannnggg the challenges the team faces really are peak genius. Terrifying to see in my mind's eye. But the stakes and fear inside the fight scenes don't feel real enough. Again, I think it's a telling instead of showing problem. Give me more!
Overall though, this incredible author has a fine debut to the Shadow Games Saga. I am rooting for you Sarra!

This is my new romantasy obsession! It has everything you could ever want. The intriguing characters, the magical but treacherous world, the electric but forbidden attraction, and the villain you love to hate are all here. The story had me hooked from the beginning and flying through the pages to see what would happen next. I'm so attached to the characters now, and I need more!

Sarra Cannon has written another entertaining book! Kicking off the Shadow Games series — a spinoff of the Shadow Demons saga — this fast-paced new adult portal fantasy has fantastic world- building and characters, amazing action and twists, awesome magic, and a swoon-worthy slow-burn romance. I loved this romantasy and can’t wait for book two!

This book hit the perfect pace for me. I’ve been craving a true slow burn with a lot more action, and this delivered exactly that. It had everything I was looking for, and the tension between the two main characters was so good. I can’t wait to see what book two brings.

LOVED This Book!!
I really loved this world that this book was set in...The Shard. It was really unique and immersive. Becca was a great character to follow, the trials were fun, and the found family was everything! Cannot wait for the next one in the series!

The slow burn was sooo painful yet soooo intoxicating! I was not ready for the end. I wanted so much to read more. But alas I will have to wait for the second book. I might have to read it again though, because it hurt so good! 😊

A Mirror of Shadows follows the story of Bex, a young witch who witnessed the death of mother and sister and steals to survive, moving from place to place. That all changes when she's sucked into another world where she has to battle to survive the brutal shadow games and meets the mysterious Slate.
This book is definitely packed with action, mystery, and lots of peril for poor Bex!
I liked Bex. She was strong and independent, yet utterly stubborn, even in her lowest moments, which made me root for her. I wasn't as taken with Slate; he was very broody and also I didn't feel like I could quite trust him. I'm intrigued to see what happens between the two of them in the next book.
There was a lot going on in this book. I understand this is the first in the series and there has to be a lot of setups for the rest of the series, so sometimes I found it hard to keep up with the different threads of the storyline.
Overall, a solid fantasy novel with a fast pace, plenty of intrigue, and a slow-burn romance.
