Like one of her characters, Melissa doesn't reveal much about herself at first glance. She's shy and reserved, she's socially awkward, and she constantly says the wrong thing at the wrong time. But if you take the time to get to know her, you'll see she knows how to have fun! Give her a few drinks, and she'll have you laughing and dancing in no time. In her mind, she's the greatest dj ever, and she especially loves upbeat 80's music. She started writing short stories and poems in elementary school, basically as soon as she picked up a pencil. When she's not writing, and studying (the end IS near!) she enjoys watching football, hockey, and she really loves live music (live, not recorded), and she will sing off key constantly (as long as no one else is around). She's also a huge moviephile, preferring big budget action movies. Also, she has several television shows she MUST watch, and if you interfere with her shows she will get angry! Get to know Melissa Silvey, and her characters. You might just find an awesome new friend!Contact me at masilveywrites@yahoo.com or on facebook at facebook.com/melissasilveyauthor. Thanks and I hope you enjoy my books. If you do don't hesitate to let me know! I appreciate any and all feedback!

19-year old college student Heather has a huge crush on her hipster-ish English-Professor Calamari. It's probably already more than a crush - she might even be in love with him. But unfortunately he's getting married this week :(

To finance her life, and to not end up like her mom, Heather found a pretty 'good' job. Which turns the plain Heather into hot and sexy Violet - a stripper/sometimes prostitute for rich guys.
That's how she ends up at Rick Young's place one night - he's a huge football star, and he's throwing a bachelor party for his best buddy Brian.... Brian aka Heather's professor.

But of course he doesn't recognize her.

And as sad as Heather is that she will never have another chance with him, because he's getting married, she'll try her best to get whatever she can from him that night.

And she'll get a lot - more than she expected.

Because not only is Brian pretty interested in her - Rick is totally crazy about her too.

And the three of them spend an amazing night together....

But in the morning Brian is gone - to get married ...

But Rick is still there - and he's still interested... and he keeps on being interested.

And Heather - she thinks she only keeps coming back to him because he pays her. She can't have any feelings for him, because she's in love with Brian....

But the more time she spends with Rick, the more the starts to like him....

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO HEATHER & RICK & BRIAN???
DID BRIAN GET MARRIED???
WHO WILL HEATHER END UP WITH?
RICK OR BRIAN OR BOTH???

WILL THERE BE A HORRIBLE CLIFFHANGER???

description

THAT'S ALL I'M TELLING YOU - I don't want to spoil too much ☺

description

But I might tell you that there will be a second book - sooo... no HEA ...yet ;)

I really enjoyed this book - even though the cover is a bit weird...
How, or rather where is that naked girl sitting or hanging?? o.O Kinda strange!

But the story was really interesting.

Lots of sexy scenes - lots of moving and frustratinig scenes.

I'm usually not a huge fan of the teacher-student romance...but this is kind of ok for me. Heather is 19 and the guys are 28 - so not all that creepily old ☺

I really liked those two guys - even when they're typical idiot men who hire a stripping prostitute for a guy who's getting married the next day ☺ Well the liking of one of them might change as the story goes on ;)

I felt really sorry for Rick most of the time, because Heather always says she's only doing it for the money - but poor Rick wants more. He's falling for her...and she thinks she's only in love with Brian :(

PROMISE TO LOVE was a realllly sexy and interesting Romance about a young girl trying everything in her power to create a good future for herself and for her siblings.... and she might just find real love where she least expected it!

And now I can't wait to see what will happen in PROMISE TO HONOR - I neeeed to know what will happen with Heather & Rick & Brian ☺

I thought that this book brought something refreshing to the surface. There are a lot of books with damaged heroines and usually it takes about one guy and three seconds for them to have all their problems solved. This book didn't have the instant knight and healing. The characters, especially Heather, all are growing at their own pace and aren't close to being healed and ready yet. The book made me laugh and smile, which can honestly be hard to do when you read as much as I do. I thought that overall it was a really good first book and I'm sure the second one will be even better. Let's also not forget that the scenes in this book are HOT. So, that's definitely an added bonus ;)

*I was given a copy of this book to review, but it has not changed my honest opinion*

Thank you, Melissa!

If I didn't have a full time job I would have devoured this book SO much faster! Melissa is such a creative writer and she has a way with imagery that makes you visualize everything.

Her characters are so unique and have such different personalities that you find yourself wanting to know more about them.

Heather is someone anyone can relate to, even if you're not a stripper

Promise to Love (Promise #1) by Melissa Silvey: Rating 5 stars

I received an ARC of Promise to Love (Promise #1) in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Melissa Silvey for allowing me to read and review your book!

I love the cover! The black/white/grey with the purple/violet lettering is perfect! Often the lines between right and wrong muddle to grey...

The story is told in third person with detail to Heather/Violet's POV. Her thoughts and emotions are clear.

Promise to Love takes place in D.C. Nineteen year old college student, Heather, just wants to be like every other girl at school. She is a sweet girl who doesn't have much, but wants to rise above that. She studies hard, strives for As and has a crush on one of her professors, so how is she so different.....?

Enter Violet. Violet is the name Heather uses when she's working. Violet is a stripper for Bachelor parties. This is her only income and college is expensive, so she's willing to do more than just put on a strip show...if the price is right.

Professor Calamari (aka Squid or Professor Squid) seems to be a smart, nice, fun teacher. Heather enjoys being in his class. She has an infatuation with him. She daydreams about a future with him, without all the complications in her life. With his impending marriage, she knows she will never get to be with him.

Rick Young is a very well known football player in the D.C. area. He's over six feet tall, handsome, built and sexy. He books Violet for a bachelor party for an old college buddy...

What happens when fate causes these three to come together....?

This book is a quick read. It does have some quite explicit sex (yes, I'm blushing), and is for mature readers. These characters come to life in a way that makes you feel for them. This is a heart-breaking love story that will keep you turning the pages. I can't wait for the next book!!!

Promise to Love is a story about 19 yr old Heather, who is putting herself through college the hard way. She comes from a background which does not offer much and is hell bent on making a good life for herself. She has a crush on one of her college professors. who she meets at his bachelor party.

When I started reading this book I wasn't sure where it was going. It didn't take me long to figure it out tho. Heather has an alter and her name is Violet. Violet is the money earner. When a football player finds himself enamoured with Heather whom he met as Violet things get real interesting. Heather has a hard time believing any guy would be interested in her for herself. Rick, the football player is such a sweet guy.. The Professor, not so much. ;) Who will she end up with? Read it and see. We do end up with a bit of a cliff hanger at the end, tho the book could stand alone with the ending.

This first in a series of 2 books(I think that's right) got my attention and I am really looking forward to reading Promise to Honor when it is available as well.

Received for review by author.

I loved this story!! If I could give more stars I would.

Heather is a college student by day and turns herself into Violet at night. When she was getting ready for her job I didn't realize what she actually did. The first chapter has us getting Heather's thoughts on Professor Calamari aka Squid. She has a crush on him only to find out he's getting married. Chapter 2 was a major OMG, jaw hanging open moment!! We meet Rick and things really take off from there, in the most interesting of ways. We get to read about Heather's awful childhood and those of her minor siblings. Rick, how I love him, tries to shows her love but does Heather open up? I'm not going to give spoilers out but this is a first book, I had to go asking for the second. When it comes to series about the same characters I tend to get bored but not with these two. Melissa gives us a heroine who is doing what is best for herself a man who loves her despite of what/who she is and one major douche bag. I hope he gets his due.

Honestly, this is not a normal read to me. I am not big on erotic books, but this one touched me. It was about a poor girl who was from the wrong side of the tracks who stole the heart of a very rich and famous football player.

This book seemed more real to me. I guess because of the circumstances that lead to Heather and Rick meeting it just makes their story REAL and not at all what you normally read in a romance.

I can honestly say I enjoyed this book. Like I said, I have never been big on erotic books, but it was easy to look past that and fall in love with the characters and the stories that accompanied them. I was also left on such a cliffhanger by the ending and can't wait to see what happens to Rick and Heather in the book to follow....Stormi

This was a wonderful read, I loved the main characters Heather the damaged heroine who was putting herself through college by working as Violet a stripper/escort. Rick was a football star with a huge heart and lot of love for Heather and her siblings. Finally was Professor Squid, Heather's teacher and she has a crush on him.

A bachelor's party was the backdrop for the meeting of the three main characters.

This book was impossible to put down once I started reading. Excellent writing and storyline.

I can't believe how it ended, can't wait for the story to continue.

Promise to Love
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

Being good enough was Heather’s hang-up. Heather never felt like she was good enough for someone to love and cherish. Heather was forced to make ends meet and provide for herself as she went through college on scholarships. This is how Violet came to be. Violet knew what men wanted and she knew how to get them to pay.

Rick was a star football player who had already graduated from college. He was friends with Brian Calamari, the professor that Heather drooled over in class. Brian was engaged to be married, but it didn’t hurt anyone if Heather secretly lusted over him.

In a strange twist, one unforgettable night will change all of their lives. Heather finds herself in the middle of a situation that she doesn’t know how to get out of.

I was suspicious of Rick in the beginning but I fell in love with him before the book ended! I am sadly disappointed with Professor Calamari. His actions speak to his horrible character and how he treats Heather is unforgivable! Blackmailing Heather for his gain, and maybe even out of hatred, Brian turns into the most unattractive man Heather could imagine. Poor Heather has no clue what to think about either one of them, she is so confused!

The only thing Heather has ever known in her life is to run. Run away from the situation and it will just go away. I wonder how many times we have all thought the same thing. That always backfires! No matter how far you run, you can never outrun trouble! So, Heather runs again!

I really loved the story with all of its twisted characters. I can’t wait to see how the story of Heather and Rick (and Brian-ugh) turn out! Characters that you love to hate; and hate to love!

Heather is trying to better herself from how she was raised. When Professor Calamari asked her to stay after she was worried that she did something wrong. When he asked her to join the newspaper because he enjoys her writing in his class she jumps at the chance. Heather has an alter ego were she does what she needs to be able to stay in school. Through her alter ego she meets the man of her dreams Rick Young.

Heather is 19 years old, She is goes by Violet (Alter Ego). She is very worried about her sisters. She has 2 younger brothers and two younger sisters. Rick Young is a football player, he throws his money around like it doesn't matter. He hasn't been able to stop thinking about Heather. Professor Calamari he is getting married, friends with Rick. He is taking over as Staff Sponsor and editor for the Newspaper. "Squid."

This book is another amazing read by Melissa Silvey and I can honestly say that I will be able to read this book again and again. I loved how well the characters were developed and how I felt connected to the characters.

Rick.

I completely fell for Rick in this book. I wasn't a fan of Brian from the beginning and boy was I right. Creep.

Heather, she's who I expected although I get really frustrated with her.

I <3 Rick. Can't wait to find out what happens next. I hope Brian gets punched in his stupid face by his "friend" - they are the worst friends ever. I'm eager to learn what happened there. Is Brian in love with Rich because he feels like a jealous jerk to me? Guess we'll find out soon.

This just wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and had an issue with some of the plot. Most of the ratings for this are 4 and 5 stars, so there must be something later in the story that redeems it, so I'm not going to rate this since I DNF around 20%.

Promise to Love by Melissa Silvey
Purchased: Kindle - $3.99 [Gifted from author in exchange for honest review]
My Rating: 3 of 5 Stars

Spoilers!

What's it all about:
Heather has always wanted just a normal life, but it’s never been that simple for her. After countless times working as her alter ego, Violet, Heather has come to realize that this next time has no downfall, or so she thinks. Heather’s crush has always been her professor, Brian Calamari, and when she dances at his bachelor party thats when he life seems to open up. What she doesn’t expect to find though is Rick Young, someone who wants to change her life for the better. Both men, according to Heather, seem to be out of her league, but whose promises will stay in tact and who’s trust will she betray.

The Best Parts:
I found myself struggling with this book, not because I did or didn’t like it, but because I was confused about my own feelings, just as much as the characters. I loved the dynamic of Heather having to fight for what she wants, but she isn’t fighting to keep the guy, she fighting with herself not to screw it up. When it comes to the characters there is only one that I love and that’s Rick. His atmosphere does wonders to the book, and brings me back form a darkness that Heather puts me into. I loved the way that he was when he first met Violet, but once he meets Heather his demeanor changes, but the dark, sexy man that he was still comes out to play when they have sex and it makes it very intriguing to read. The single best part of this book is the ending, and it is because the choice Heather, or should I say Violet, makes is so crucial for her to grow and I wish she had done it earlier in the book. This ending is the only reason I would read book 2 because I want to see how much she truly wants to grow.

The Worst Parts:
There were a few things that I had a hard time with and one of the main ones was Heather’s character. At the beginning I saw her as a whiney little teenager, and guess what, that’s what she is. But what I didn’t like is that once she turns into Violet, that little teenager Heather never comes back into play. I would have like to see the dynamic of her apparent changes, but it never happens. I also think that the thought process for Heather was a little out there. If she wanted so much to be like her mother then should would have let a man use her. She doesn’t seem like the person to be easily swayed, at first maybe, but not after everything she goes through with Rick.

Final thoughts:
I found myself hating this book at first, and then loving it and then hating it so much more. The sex is fantastic, but the story line was a struggle for me to get into. I think it would have been better if there wasn’t so much back and forth; it kind of felt like whip lash the entire time. At one point all I felt was dread reading it because I knew more bad things were just going to happen. There wasn’t a light at the end of the tunnel, and I know most romance novels have the happily ever after, but in this book I just kept thinking that Heather didn’t deserve that; that no one deserved that.
