Nat Harrison was born on the tiny volcanic island of Ascension, in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean. She spent her childhood having adventures in England and Hong Kong and has since journeyed to every continent except Antarctica (it’s next on the list).
She’s based in the UK but can usually be found exploring with her husband, and her dog, Shadow, who loves a good story.
In the past, Nat has worked as a sweet seller, burger flipper, bingo caller, and ice cream whipper. She’s also worked for some of the most well-known technology brands, living in Europe, Asia and the US.
Nat graduated with distinction from the MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University. The one constant across continents is Nat’s love of reading and writing (and living!) adventure stories.
I was so excited to read this book after devouring The Girl Who Raced the World last year, and it absolutely didn’t disappoint! The story picks up where the last one left off, but honestly, I don’t think you need to have read the first book to enjoy this one. The previous story is referenced enough to give you the background, but this time Maggie and her friends are off on a new adventure in Brazil, searching for Amelia West, a missing artist. Along the way, they overcome all sorts of obstacles and uncover a plot which is motivated by greed. I was so happy to be back in Maggie’s world, reading this book was like a giant hug even when the action ramped up and things got tense!
One of the things I love about Nat Harrison’s books is her fantastic female characters, who are intelligent, feisty, empathetic and fiercely loyal. Combine that with her wonderfully descriptive writing, which brings the sights, sounds and smells of the jungle to life so vividly that you can almost imagine yourself there, and you have a story that’s a real pleasure to get lost in. I also loved her descriptions of the local food which really added to the sense of place, so bring snacks, trust me you’re going to get hungry! Highly recommend this one if you’re looking for a fast-paced, addictive adventure. I was completely swept up in the story and honestly couldn’t put it down!
🍃 🌺 The Girl who Raced the World: Journey into the Jungle 🌺🍃
🌿 I cannot tell you how greatly anticipated this sequel was for me! If you have read The Girl who Raced the World, you will also be truly captivated by Nat’s follow up. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? 🗺️ Journey into the Jungle picks up right where book one ended and we are submerged into more fast-paced and thrilling action and adventure. So many favourite characters return in book two, with the addition of many more greats. Nat really knows how to develop characters that we will all love and cherish. Maggie continues to be fearless and forward, encouraged by the feisty and heroic Valentine. Passepartout still has my heart ❤️.
🌿 Journey into the Jungle starts when a mysterious visitor arrives at No. 7 Savile Row seeking help, whilst on his deathbed. The fearless foursome embark on a mission which is not as it seems. Who can they trust and can they rescue Amelia West?
🌺 The ending was a shout-out-loud, “YES!” moment for me and I absolutely adored the final chapter. Valentine is such an important character and I adore her confidence.
🌿 If you enjoy thrilling stories that keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is the book for you!!!
