If we believe that Heaven is real, we should not expect it to look like a cartoon. The fairy tale picture of Heaven as a place where the souls of the departed have tiny wings and fly around on clouds, wearing white robes and playing harps, has very little to do with what the Bible says about Heaven. The Bible describes an Eternity more complex place than most people think. It is not just Heaven and Hell. The Bible also talks about Sheol, Hades, Tartarus, Gehenna, the Lake of Fire, the Abyss, New Jerusalem, Paradise, New Heaven and New Earth. And here’s a funny point: Nowhere does the Bible say that anyone goes to Heaven when they die. That’s someplace else.
I wrote this book, I'm trying to get it added into Goodreads, and this screen pops up asking me to write a review. A review of my own book? Well, I think it's absolutely fabulous! Everyone should read it! So speaking from a totally unbiased perspective ...
Many people have a very cartoon picture of Heaven. Even people who seriously believe the Bible and are convinced that Heaven is a real place often have a very simplistic view of it. So in this book I try to discuss what the Bible really says about Heaven and Hell.
And right off the bat, you may be surprised to learn that there are more place in Eternity than just Heaven and Hell. There's Sheol, Hades, the Pit, the Abyss, Tartarus, New Jerusalem, and the New Earth. Maybe several others depending on how you read various Bible passages.
So in this book I discuss the "geography" of Eternity: all the different places that the Bible describes and what it says about each.
The Geography of Heaven by Mark Johansen is a very interesting, thought-provoking book. I can tell a lot of research and thinking went into this book. Mark Johansen doesn’t believe that the saved will go to Heaven or that there isn’t such a place. He says God is on His heavenly throne, but Christians will either go to the New Earth or the New Jerusalem. First the saved will go to a place called Abraham’s Bosom until judgment day. Also the unsaved will stay in a place called the Pit until they are cast into the Lake of Fire. He brings up many points and scripture verses that prove his theory. I find this book quite interesting and would love for all of you to read it and give me your opinion. What Mark Johansen writes really makes sense to me, but I will be happy whenever I’m at as long as Jesus is there. So I will recommend this book. It will keep you guessing and get you to study your Bible to find the answers.
