Cindy Sambrano hates her life. She lives in a crappy little house, drives a crappy little car, and has a crappy younger brother, Cody. After their parents’ death, she feels compelled to take care of him, to try to keep him on the straight and narrow, but--as usual--he’s messed up again. Owing a huge debt some seriously bad dudes, Cindy’s brother needs help getting the cash. His plan? Rob Cindy’s employer, Monroe StoneCrow. Cindy has no intentions of following through. Her true plan is to work triple and quadruple shifts to help earn the money to pay off Cody’s debt. Hell, she’s even willing to go so far as to take up the offered employee housing on the Estate to save on rent and gas. She just needs to string her brother along long enough to keep him from doing something stupid until she can dig them out of debt.

Problem? Of course there is.

CEO and Dominant Walker, Monroe StoneCrow, receives information from his Sentry, RedKnife KillsPrettyEnemy, that convinces the CEO that Ms. Sambrano has ulterior motives at StoneCrow and could be working with the Walkers’ enemy faction, the Megalya. Too late, RedKnife realizes that he’s put Cindy’s life in jeopardy with his inadvertent misinformation. Knowing the CEO won’t back down, it’s up to RedKnife to steal Cindy from the Dominant Walker and hide her until he can prove two things: One, her innocence to Monroe, and two, he needs to show Cindy that she is his One.

My pack territory is in Central Montana, between Stone Crow Estates and the North Fortress. Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures. My father’s people boast a fiercely proud Scandinavian ancestry while my mother’s tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations (White Clay and Nakoda) that inspire my Skin Walker series.

I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, 30 Seconds to Mars, DMX, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and 21 Pilots (“…sometimes quiet is violent”). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. I don't love beer but we are engaged in a very serious relationship. (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)

RedKnife KillsPrettyEnemy - amazing name for the male mc. That alone upped the rating of this book + he's a total antisocial caveman that everyone is afraid of. Swoon. I love the antisocial murderous types.

Cindy, the female mc, is normal and didn't do anything unbearably stupid. I actually liked her and how she treated her caveman, which was kindly vs everyone keeps 10 ft away and runs if he looks at them.

RedKnife, I loved the crazy overprotective, I'll kill you all if she's harmed vibes, but not enough murder happened. I was expecting him to paint the town blood red. Still good due to his antisocial tendencies.

Plot was mild, but the story was short, so it worked. Nothing mind bending happens, but it didn't bore me. The other books in this series I'm not a huge fan of/or hate, they're confusing and contradictory. I think this'll be the only one I save from the fire.

Want to know how I feel? Full of hate and disgust for this book. Any little 'like' feels I got for this died n stayed fucking dead, otherwise I'd kill it myself.

There are too many things that disgust me so I thought two stars. But my disgust is so fucking high my skin crawls n I want to rate this one n below stars. The thing I'm disgusted with the most is the disgusting doctor jenny who selfishly uses lives to her advantage, Fucks around with the insides of living beings under the pretense of being a good doctor, drugs n poisons people as she pleases, lies n cheat pple of their lives, n get off stupidmotherfuckingshit scot free happily ever after and keeping her disgusting position as a doctor. I want to gag so much I can picture my fingers in my throat trying to force the disgust from my body. The wiping of her complete self would calm me. She dirties the name of a doctor and represents all the flaws of how disgusting a person can be. I have a disgusting taste at the back of my throat thinking of her. She's playing god n gets rewarded for her perversions n violations against human life. I'm disgusted Redknife would let her go scot free. I'm disgusted with the retarded unoriginal disgusting stupid smirks of useless thinks-he's-the-shit Monroe , he's better than god he alludes. why do pple follow him? Cuz they're FUCKING stupid lame brained crazy. They're so stupid n nonsensical I want to hurt them for their stupidity. One can only act so stupid before others smack against the limit of stupidass bullshi. He's a stupid piece of shit n needs to be gotten rid of. Someone knock him off his royal pedestal. I hate u book.

I guess I should mention that the bitch doctor gets a HEA later n not in this book n had been abusing the trust n lives of all those at her selfish fingertips.

I wasted my time n money. I'm going to return this book that ended my night by filling me with hate. If time could turn...

There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less, but Nature more. – Lord Byron

The snow itself is lonely or, if you prefer, self-sufficient. There is no other time when the whole world seems composed of one thing and one thing only. - Joseph Wood Krutch

The snow is falling. Howling winds, blizzard conditions unlike any Montana has seen recently. What the heck? Well, RedKnife is upset. And when RedKnife is upset, the skies are upset as well.

RedKnife is alone. The sole Indigenous Skin Walker, RedKnife KillsPrettyEnemy accepted the invitation of King Mulholland, under whom he earned his trident, to move to StoneCrow Estates, the secure home developed by Monroe StoneCrow. StoneCrow, the Dominant Walker, runs the Estate with a strong hand, working to provide a safe home for “his” Skin Walkers. But RedKnife has reason to distrust the Dominant – and that distrust may cost him what he has searched for his whole life. His “One” – the person who completes his soul.

Imagine his surprise when he is accused of murder by an incompetent detective with a nasty attitude – and his salvation comes from the most unlikely person on the estate – the bartender from the Crow’s Nest, Cindy Sambrano. Stepping in to protect him, and lying in the process, Cindy gains his trust. But when a misunderstanding convinces StoneCrow that Cindy is a traitor to the Skin Walkers, it is up to RedKnife to protect her from torture, and possible death.

Two isolated people, running into the storm, work to protect one another not only from the blizzard that threatens their lives, but from the Walkers who would rip them apart.

This is another in the Skin Walkers series by Susan Bliler, and it is a much awaited joy. RedKnife KillsPrettyEnemy has always been one of the more interesting characters in the series in my opinion. An opinion which is shared by many of the readers who share my passion for Susan’s work. This is the newly edited edition, so enjoy!

Once more, Susan trusted me with her work, and I am honoured beyond measure. If you enjoyed my review, please click “Yes” on Amazon – it helps draw attention to my friend’s work!

re-read this one recently before diving back into the series. I would like to give it an extra star as it made more sense the second time around, but it shoulda made sense the first time. Still, I enjoyed it more the second time and still love both MCs. (REALLY coulda used an epilogue although the last paragraph was Sweet!)

Cindy and Redknife Killsprettyenemy. Gotta love his name! I started reading this series a while ago and the order of books has changed. So I find myself reading a book that comes before the last one I read. Wasn't a big deal though.
Redknife is a force unto himself. He is from the original family of Skinwalkers and so has powers nobody knows of, not even himself. But it has also made him a lonely man. People rarely talk to him and never even touch him, because he is that frightening. Cindy is an orphan except for her jerk-off brother, who kinda scares her. She too, is lonely. Their first meeting is bereft of dialogue but full of import. Nobody knows what to think of their meeting, least of all Redknife. A little while later, Redknife is still confused but finds himself following her in animal form and he draws a conclusion without all the facts that he will soon regret. It is now up to him to keep her safe from his boss, Monroe (who is still a jerk... kinda like Johah in lora leigh's breed series). After Monroe catches up to them, the story becomes less cohesive. The plot becomes a cluttered series loosely connected, contrived scenes that don't really serve any logical purpose except to create strife and bond the MCs together. It was an unnecessary and kinda cheap way to finish the story. I still enjoyed the book and I loved the MCs. I just thought they were strong enough characters to not need all the 'flash in the pan' in the last 3rd of the book to have their HEA. Mostly it was annoying because it became illogical in any strategic way. Guess that is why I gave 3 instead of 4 stars. The end is a little abrupt with some rather pertinent questions unanswered. Will look forward to the next one!

I love Redknife!

He is one of my favorite Skin Walkers. He seems so lost in this world and is a man apart. With only one true friend and the only Walker of his kind. That is until he meets Cindy....then all bets are off. In true Walker fashion he will go to the wall for his one. The love that grows in this book is a beautiful thing uniting two people, alone in this world, and making them whole. This is a must read. I can’t wait to see what happens with the Skin Walkers next!

Redknife

Cindy is the human bartender and Redknife is a Walker. But he's more comfortable outside in animal form than with people but Cindy is his One.

What we have here is one of the coolest hero names; Redknife KillsPrettyEnemy. And one of my favourite types of hero; silent, mountain of a man with no social skills and who just doesn't give a fuck about what others think. If only he hadn't turned into an indecisive chatty catty.

Another dream bites the dust.

Now this was much better...

The first book “King” was interesting but I felt it lacked the romance aspect of a paranormal romance story. But this was a romance! Two people feeling all sorts of mixed up feelings for each other and the couple having to wade through them all to come up with their HEA at the end.

The paranormal twist of this series was the interesting thing I found in book 1 and was still here but it wasn’t the main focus of this book and that’s what I liked. Give a good universe that the reader can say “oh I WISH this was real life(!)” while still giving the romance the front and center attention of the book. Where the characters learn about each other, have a conflict that helps to bind them together and then end it with the possibilities of all their happy tomorrow’s. That’s what I want to read about!

My only issue is the doctors hidden agenda. It makes no sense what she’s doing. I get that she is trying to avoid getting mated but she is hindering other people’s relationships just because SHE doesn’t want one. Yet she is always acting innocent and happy that the couples do get together anyway. It’s just a stupid subplot.

My last issue is Monroe. The author is trying to write him as clever but I don’t see it. He is always written as smirking like he manipulated something to the way he wanted or scowling/growling/angry all the time. I just think his character is poorly written because there has not been anything clever there so far.

I definitely enjoyed this book. I loved Redknife’s intensity and I loved Cindy’s sad loneliness. This book was angsty without being too dark or depressing.

Re reading this whole series again and I absolutely love this book. I cant get enough of these two and could not put this book down.
Redknife is a lone indigenous skinwalker who doesn't trust humans and hates being stuck inside. He has spent his whole life in solitude, cause of this he believes he wont ever find "His Angel " he will always be alone. Everyone is smart to stay away from Redknife, no one has touched him in years until Cindy.
Cindy is all alone and hates the way her life has turned out. All cause of her brother getting into trouble all the time she has has to save him, this is the reason of her having no money, a bad place to live, and constantly feeling depressed.
Cindy found Redknife very attractive and when she found out a detective was questioning Redknife and trying to arrest him, she lied for him and gave him a alibi.
Even though Redknife doesnt know Cindy at all she is the only person who has touched him and he has not felt upset, he liked being around her, felt attracted to her. There is something about her that called to him, and he will not rest or stop until he figures it out.

This book by far is my favorite. Redknife is the only of his kind of Walker and he even feels separated from his own kind. Cindy has work in the crowsnest for the last 2 years and she knows that there is something up with the people at come in for food and drink but all she wants to do is keep her head down do her job and make money to help her dump ass brother. Redknife is the a loner but when he meets Cindy he is drawn to her in a way that he has never felt before. Cindy thinks Redknife is sexy as sin and wouldn't mind getting with him. Redknife made some big mistakes when it came to Cindy (but he really doesn't know how to act around people so what do you expect). He needed to make things right with Cindy but doing that might also hurt her. In the end it worked out for them which I am over the moon about these two were made for each other

Comparing to the first one, this one was so much better!
The hero managed to avoid switching personalities for about 90% of the book and I really liked his savage nature. The heroine was also quite constant in her demeanor and actions.
However, the drama with her brother was lacking something. I do not know what. More interaction, more dialogues, more direct involvement? He seemed like a childhood toy that was stuffed into a closet and barely remembered, but pulled out when they needed to create some drama. And the drama with the jail and that detective was overexaggerated and slighly weird at the end...
But overall I liked it.
Just one question though - Why hasn't anyone stopped Jenny?!?! Someone please do something about that crazy bi*ch!!!

Loved re-reading this book in the series. While Redknife was quiet, he very interesting and well developed. His abilities were fascinating. Cindy's character was out going, and humorous at times with a little sadness thrown in to be well rounded. With Jenny's duplicity thrown into the mix it was great watching the relationship between the two main characters develop.
Good addition to this world.
Well worth your time and $$

God, this series is AWESOME!

I love this series. Drama, suspense, humor, and a lil bit of mystery make an awesome romance story. Each time I read one I think 'no, THIS book is my favorite in the series ' ....until I read the next one. I've never rated so many 5 starts for each book in a series, but I absolutely ADORED this series.

Really enjoyed it!

4 1/2 stars. I really love this series, and I am happy to say there really was not much I didn't love about this addition to it. I thought the characters were great--I'm always a sucker for the quiet, menacing H who only softens for his h. He has very sweet moments, and his "domestic" abilities kind of surprised me. The h is a good leading lady too--smart and caring, down on her luck, but not wallowing in self pity. There is a good balance of suspense, angsty moments, with what I felt an actual build up to the relationship, even though both characters had the instant attraction thing. My only issues with the story (why I could not give it a solid 5 stars) was I felt it ended way too abruptly. Not a cliffhanger, but I still felt it needed to be concluded in some way, or an epilogue. Also, I have read every story as it was released, but the fact these are not released in the actual chronological order is somewhat confusing--especially in the actions of the secondary characters. Still, it was a fast moving, easy to read, and exciting story. I hope the author keeps them coming!

Very abrupt ending

I felt the story was actually one of the better ones in this series. It has a great journey of both characters that really pulled me in and had me feeling like I was living it with both of them. Just when everything got moving and the action started it was over. Like literally over in the middle of what was an important plot feature to the story. I loved the story, but was extremely disappointed and even confused at how the author could just stop so much that I gave it a 3 star rating. It almost seems like she got interrupted and forgot to come back to finish the story.
