Welcome to Pinecrest, Montana!!

☆Tequila & Cowboys☆ kicks off a new small town series by Emily Silver. Chase and Rylee are simply adorable together! I loved their flirty banter and the way they seemed made for each other, even more so because Rylee's best friend is Chase's younger sister.

Did I mention she kisses him first? I love a FMC who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it! And let me tell you, this is one spicy little number!! The story moves really quickly through only 40+ pages so it's definitely not a slow burn but it does take the time to introduce us to the characters who will star in this series. I'm excited for what's yet to come!

“... What do you want?”
A slow smile quirks the corner of her mouth. “Tequila and cowboys.”
“Cowboys? As in plural?”
“Well, one cowboy. But he seems to be too busy for me at the moment.”
Grabbing a bottle of tequila, I round the bar and step between her legs.
“I am never too busy for you, Honey.”
I’m doing things a little different with this one. Because the story is short, I didn’t want to give it an official review, but I still wanted to take a moment to celebrate the story anyway. It’s like a sneak peek into Emily’s Pinecrest, Montana series since it introduces us to the characters, the town, & the local spots we’ll visit throughout her new series. And what better way to introduce us to this world? It’s so cute… & spicy 😏 (they find a creative use for tequila 🤭).
I don’t know how it’s possible, but I fall more and more in love with this woman every day. She’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me and I’m so fucking lucky that we took a chance on each other.
This short prequel gives us a best friend’s brother sweet & spicy small town romance. The FMC is besties with 2 single moms (they’ll get their happily ever after romances in the series) & even works at the same diner as one of them. The MMC owns the local bar, his sister is one of the single moms, & we get to visit the ranch that plays a big role in book 1 of the series.
“Are you going to kiss me, Cowboy?”
“You want me to?” A sly grin slides across his face.
“Yes.” I nod. “Consider this blanket approval to kiss me whenever you want.”
“Hmm.” He presses a kiss to my cheek. “Anytime I want?”
“Anytime,” I say.
His mouth captures mine in a slow kiss. One that’s a promise of all future kisses to come.

I discovered this short story in the morning and didn’t hesitate to start it, so I could continue with the first book in this new series. Rylee and Chase’s story was really nice to read, and I loved how Emily introduced this new small town and this group of friends. It made me excited to read more about them.

Rylee had known Chase for years, since he was her best friend’s brother. She had always been attracted to him, but she never said anything because she wasn’t sure how her friend would react if she knew about Rylee’s feelings.

Chase owned a bar in Pinecrest, so his sister and her friends spent a lot of time there having fun. He was also attracted to Rylee, and since they lived in a small town, they often saw each other. One day, Chase and Rylee had dinner together, and Rylee finally made a move and showed him that she wanted him.

After sharing a steamy moment, they continued seeing each other. When Rylee’s friend found out about them, she was shocked at first, but after they talked about it, she accepted their relationship.

I loved how everything happened between Rylee and Chase, and how they finally had the chance to act on their feelings after years of holding back. I also enjoyed reading the epilogue and the bonus scene, and seeing them happy while figuring out their future together.

Rylee and her friends were all interesting, so I can’t wait to read the next books in the series and learn more about their friendship and how everyone gets their happy ending.

This was a fun and very quick read. If you want to get to know an author's writing style before committing to one of their longer books this would be a perfect novella to do so.

Rylee and Chase have known each other for years. Rylee is his sisters best friend.

Rylee stops fighting the attraction and I will never look at a bar the same way again. Whew!!

Chase is one heck of a cowboy.

I love how Rylee was concerned how being with Chase might affect her friendship, and wanted to be upfront and honest before she even moved forward.

Great introduction story to Pinecrest Montana. Can't wait to read the next few stories.
