Promises and Deception was definitely worth the wait. I fully enjoyed reconnecting with the Fleur de Muertos group, and being transported back to the Vegas scene.
It took me a couple minutes to place Aria, and make that connection, but once it was there I was thrilled.
Loved the meet cute, the second meeting, and everything that transpired. The drama/suspense storyline was also fantastic. Jocelyne pulled me into the story, and I wasn't ready to leave. I'm looking forward to future Lane family books so that I can continue to see these characters in the background.

Did I absolutely love this story. YES. Do I want to read it for the first time again. YES. Jocelyne Soto did it again. We get a MMC that I just want to swoon over. Elliot with his glasses is just dreamy lol with a bit of a rough at times side. I liked the balance him and Aria had. Loved that we get a strong FMC with Aria who knows herself and is unapologetic. I loved the tension and banter between these two.

So good to be back in the world of the Lane family! I knew this book would be emotional, but I wasn’t prepared for just how much it would hit me 😭😭.
Elliot and Aria met and shared one night in Vegas. Both wanted more, but hesitated to ask. Now, three years later, Elliot needs a nurse for his brother, and to his surprise, Aria is the one caring for him!
I loved the instant connection between Aria and Elliot. Even with the romance developing after initial attraction, it was clear from the start that they were meant for each other.
They are perfect together. Both understand and support each other through everything. They’re wounded souls who help each other heal 💜
The suspense in this book was fantastic! While I suspected some of the twists, the overall plot and mystery kept me hooked alongside the romance.
The only thing that didn’t sit right with me was their dismissal of marriage. I totally understood why they were against it, but calling marriage just a “piece of paper” when it’s so much more felt off. They kept emphasizing “promises” and “vows,” which is exactly what marriage is—so the belittling it didn’t make sense.
That last chapter totally wrecked me! I don’t know what to do until the next book comes out! I did enjoy the sneak peek into the next couple, though 🤭
