overall, this was ok for me. i was really hoping i was going to love it, and there's nothing bad per se, but it missed that je ne sais quoi that i was hoping for.
i think florence was cheated a bit out of a full arc. i was disappointed in how the issues with her father was resolved when i really wanted more of a final confrontation.
luca was a very interesting character though, and i liked the opposites attract aspect with her v reserved nature in contrast to florence's extroverted, showgirl personality. i feel like it is one of the better executed examples of this dynamic in that regard.
while i liked the little social media excerpts of interviews and fan reactions, i wanted a little more drama with the tour itself, maybe w the other bandmates or the headliner. i also cringed at the fanfiction part, i just can't w that in my romance books. we don't need to acknowledge it here.

As always I’m going to start with the rating. 3.5✨. Thank you to NetGalley and the author Maisie Bell for allowing me to read the e-arc version of this book. This book was really good and I’m excited to see what happens in the next book when it comes out.
I really loved the band aspect of this book and how everyone was so comfortable with each other and the found family was just so good that I ate up the book so quickly. I still can’t believe that I read this book in only eleven days. Luca and Florence were so cute together and they have so much chemistry. I was also cheering them on through their highs and lows.

Scorpio Season is a rockstar romance following Florence, the singer of a rising band and daughter of a famous rockstar, and Luca, the drummer who has just joined the group. The problem? These two hooked up the night before Luca joined the band, and now they have to spend the rest of the tour pretending nothing happened.
I was so excited to see where this premise would take me, especially since this is Maisie's debut. Unfortunately, the execution didn't quite live up to what I was hoping for. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I flew through this book. The pacing kept me moving from chapter to chapter, and I finished it much faster than expected, so at least it managed to keep my attention even if the overall story didn't completely win me over.
My biggest struggle was connecting with the MCs. Florence is definitely the more extroverted one, but I wouldn't necessarily describe her as warm. She constantly seemed to be performing a version of herself for everyone around her, and even with her bandmates, she rarely felt completely authentic. I kept waiting for those walls to come down and for us to see the person underneath them, but that didn't really happen until the very end, and even then, the transition felt too sudden for me.
Her relationship with her father was another missed opportunity. Since they're both musicians, I thought their shared connection to music could have been used to explore Florence's insecurities, her relationship with her father's legacy, and what she actually wanted for herself. He was mentioned often enough that I expected their relationship to play a bigger role in her development. Instead, the subplot surrounding him mostly felt like a way to create additional drama rather than something that actually added depth to their bond.
Luca was much more reserved, struggling to express her opinions and stand up for herself. Even though she gradually became more comfortable around the band, especially Florence, I still felt like I never got quite deep enough into her head to become fully attached to her. However, I did appreciate the way her ADHD was handled. Her personality didn't feel like a collection of stereotypical ADHD traits, and I liked that the book approached the subject thoughtfully rather than making it her entire personality.
If anything, Luca's character arc was the stronger one. She became more confident in pursuing what she wanted, particularly when it came to making decisions about her own life and being honest with her parents, gave her a sense of growth that I felt was missing from Florence's storyline.
I also went into this expecting a fun found family dynamic between the band members, and unfortunately, that didn't really happen either. Instead of watching them stand up for each other and build deep trust, the endless miscommunication drama completely ruined the vibe. They felt like awkward coworkers rather than a chosen family, which definitely left me wanting more.
And sadly, the romance didn't fare much better... Because I never formed a strong emotional connection with either MC, their relationship struggled to make an impact. They had a few moments of true intimacy, but for the most part, it felt like they were simply orbiting each other without building any real emotional foundation. Even the physical attraction didn't really sell their chemistry to me.
The biggest issue was Florence's one-sided secrecy. She kept things from Luca and from the rest of the band, and I wasn't a fan of the way the story eventually resolved that conflict. Having Florence prove her feelings through a big gesture felt predictable and, honestly, a little too convenient. It gave Luca a reason to forgive her and gave the couple an easy path toward being together, but it didn't erase the fact that Florence had spent most of the book refusing to offer Luca the same vulnerability she expected from her.
So when everything finally came together, I just didn't find their relationship particularly convincing. And to be completely honest... I reached a point where I didn't even care whether they ended up together.
Overall, I think Scorpio Season had some interesting ideas, but several of its plotlines needed more development, and I wanted significantly more depth from the characters. Still, this is Maisie's debut, and I think there's plenty of potential here. Authors grow with every book, so I'm genuinely curious to see what she does next. Maybe Scorpio Rising will finally be the one that clicks for me.

I really liked this book. I used to think band romances were fine but not my favorite, but so far the ones I’ve read have been four stars or more, so maybe band romances are for me after all. All the band romance ARCs that I’ve read have been really good, and this book is no exception.
I don’t know what it was about the writing or how the yearning is portrayed, but I felt it in my bone marrow. The way that both FMCs long for each other is so delicious in an exclusively sapphic way. A man could never.
Neurodivergent representation is always great to have in books, and I liked how it was done here. Luca, one of the FMCs, has diagnosed ADHD and is taking Ritalin for it throughout the book, and it’s implied that she’s been on it for a while. I did appreciate that while she was on a medication that treated ADHD, it didn’t “cure” her symptoms or make them all go away. With mental illness and neurodivergence in books, I’ve noticed that medication is often treated like a magic cure that makes all symptoms of a psychological condition go away. But while medication is prescribed for a reason and is very helpful for a lot of people, in reality, it doesn’t make every symptom go away. It may do that for some people, but generally the goal is to reduce symptom severity, not eliminate them. This is a long-winded way of saying that I appreciate that the author still portrayed Luca as having symptoms of ADHD while on medication. I thought this was a more accurate portrayal of how psychiatric medication works than I usually see. I do want to say that I am not a person with ADHD, nor am I on ADHD medication, so if a reader/reviewer who does has different thoughts on the ADHD/medication portrayal, take their opinions over mine, as I am not speaking from that lived experience. I have been on psychiatric medication for years, so that’s where I’m speaking from, but not for ADHD.
Minor spoiler:
I loved how each band member felt like a distinct person, not just a generic side character or archetype. I can clearly envision Izzy, Miray, and Toni with their specific personalities and styles, which was really great, especially since the ensemble is so vital to the story. It makes me excited for the next in the series, to get a new character's POV, and to see this ensemble again.
TLDR: Awesome! Sapphic yearning is unmatched; I felt this in my bones. I appreciated the neurodivergent representation and how it showed that medication helps but doesn’t eliminate symptoms, which felt like a more realistic portrayal. The ensemble group felt great and distinct and I appreciated the way the third act conflict went down in terms of the band members involvement.
If you are loving the rise in band romances lately, you need to add this to your TBR ASAP. I would blanket-recommend this to sapphic romance readers in general because even if you’re unfamiliar with or indifferent to the band romance subgenre, this book will still be a banger.

Bell’s writing keeps the pages turning, balancing Florence and Luca’s relationship with friendship challenges, family secrets, career pressures, and the realities of working in the music industry. I enjoyed that the music industry never felt like it was being used just for the backbone of the romance between Florence and Luca. It plays an important role in Florence’s identity and the choices that she has to make throughout the story.
The novel also dives into the different and very real situations that aspiring musicians and performers could face as they work toward their dreams. There is a lot of excitement that comes with making it in the industry, but Bell shows all of the pressures, expectations, and sacrifices that can come along with achieving your dreams.
However, not every journey is going to start with opening for one of your favorite artists, though. And not everyone is going to hide the secret that their father is a world-famous rock star.
This secret plays a large role in Florence Gibson’s story. As the daughter of a famous musician, Florence has spent a lot of her time trying to figure out how to achieve her dream without feeling like she is in her father’s shadow. She’s close with her mother, but since her father left, she tries to keep that part of her life a secret from the people who are now her fans. Her feelings surrounding this whole idea of his fame and her career add another layer of complexity to her journey as she searches for her identity and it feels just as important as Florence learning about her feelings for Luca.
One of the most meaningful parts of the story is watching Florence understand that she doesn’t have to shoulder everything by herself. As the passage of time takes away memories, music is the one thing that prevails and is remembered forever. It is the glue that holds many societies and cultures together, and in Florence and Luca’s instance, it holds a new budding relationship together.
Florence Gibson and her all-woman, all-queer band is one of the most important things in her life right now. She wants to make it big to prove to herself she is better than her father– her band gets offered to open for Juno Wilde, their biggest idol, while she is on her European tour. Her band needs one thing– a drummer. Luca Walsh, overworked and freshly dropped out of university, sees a flyer for a new drummer in a band. She takes the offer.
A downpour and a bus that isn’t going to show up, Florence and Luca are stranded at the stop, Florence goes home with Luca, for what was supposed to be a one night stand. A wonderful night, presuming they would never see each other again– that is until Luca shows up at her band’s practice. Both being flustered at seeing each other, they make an agreement to keep what they had to the side and focus on this tour. With a run-down van, small hostels along the way, the two are finding it difficult to keep their feelings to the side. They must learn to navigate the newfound struggles as a band as their music hits the charts, in tandem with grappling with their feelings.

I absolutely ADORED this book. I quite literally read it a little over 24 hours. The prose, the characters, the plot, the sex– everything was so captivating. Maisie Bell has such a way to portray her characters. I was so immersed, I was turning pages left and right! Romance tropes usually don’t do it for me, but whenever it is queer, oh it does something to me! One-night stand turns into something longer, forced proximity, and lotsssss of yearning. It is messy in a clean-cut way, with a little bit of family drama sprinkled in– let me tell you– the daddy drama climax had me saying “That asshole!!!!” The side characters felt real as well, with a lot of romance books it feels like the cast gets pushed to the side, but it did not feel like that at all. They felt like real people, who were in a real band, that had real relationships with our main characters. The third act conflict was done really well, it affected everyone but didn’t blow up into this huge unnecessary thing.
I also appreciate the way Bell represented neurodivergence through Luca. With a lot of novels, a character's neurodivergence is their whole personality. This was not the case for Luca, it was with her and prevalent, it affected her. But it didn’t surround her personality. AND! She might be on medication, but it isn't a “magical cure,” and she still displays ADHD symptoms.
This is my first read by Bell, and in fact it is her debut. This is a wonderful debut novel and I cannot wait to see what she produces next. (I have already put Scorpio Rising on my tbr!!)

Florence Gibson and her all-woman, all-queer band is one of the most important things in her life right now. She wants to make it big to prove to herself she is better than her father– her band gets offered to open for Juno Wilde, their biggest idol, while she is on her European tour. Her band needs one thing– a drummer. Luca Walsh, overworked and freshly dropped out of university, sees a flyer for a new drummer in a band. She takes the offer.
A downpour and a bus that isn’t going to show up, Florence and Luca are stranded at the stop, Florence goes home with Luca, for what was supposed to be a one night stand. A wonderful night, presuming they would never see each other again– that is until Luca shows up at her band’s practice. Both being flustered at seeing each other, they make an agreement to keep what they had to the side and focus on this tour. With a run-down van, small hostels along the way, the two are finding it difficult to keep their feelings to the side. They must learn to navigate the newfound struggles as a band as their music hits the charts, in tandem with grappling with their feelings.

I absolutely ADORED this book. I quite literally read it a little over 24 hours. The prose, the characters, the plot, the sex– everything was so captivating. Maisie Bell has such a way to portray her characters. I was so immersed, I was turning pages left and right! Romance tropes usually don’t do it for me, but whenever it is queer, oh it does something to me! One-night stand turns into something longer, forced proximity, and lotsssss of yearning. I find that each main character's individual storyline meant a lot to me as well.
I think it’s important how this book touches on family dynamics, and that it shows the contrast between Luca’s and Florence’s parents. With Florence being the daughter of an absentee rockstar father, who she is afraid of following in his footsteps, especially when it comes to her relationship with her mother. Luca’s parents as well as brothers are supportive of her and what she does, yet she still feels the need to hide certain truths from her parents.
Despite the way Luca and Florence met each other, and having this base of more attraction than connection, I liked how their story wasn’t rushed and contained the smaller gestures. Yet unfortunately sometimes I felt like I was missing moments between them that built their relationship and led them to where they are in the end, this could be just me though. I want to mention though, that I really liked them together. How they spent their time getting to know each other throughout their tour, and how they were there for each other when needed.
Lastly, the format of the book is worth a mention as it’s not just the main story, written in dual POV, but it contains a mix of interviews, social media transcripts and posts, song lyrics, and news clippings. I loved that so much and it made reading this book much more interesting and fun.
Overall I give this 4.5 stars and gosh I am excited to read the next book in this series.

This was such a fun sapphic romance with fantastic chemistry, plenty of tension, and all the chaotic energy of being stuck on tour together.
Florence and Luca hooked me right away. Starting with a one-night stand only to discover they're now bandmates? Absolute recipe for disaster... and I ate it up. Between the shared hotel rooms, long drives across Europe, rehearsals, and trying to ignore their feelings for the sake of the band, the tension just kept building in the best way.
I also loved how much the music itself felt like part of the story. The band wasn't just a backdrop, it felt like a family, and watching them chase their dreams while navigating all the messy emotions made me really root for everyone. Luca's ADHD representation was another highlight and felt woven naturally into her character.
The only reason this wasn't quite a five-star read for me is that I wanted a little more depth in a few emotional moments, particularly toward the end. Some conflicts wrapped up a bit quicker than I expected, and I would have happily spent another fifty pages with these characters.

Scorpio Season is a delightful lesbian romance featuring a fully queer cast, rising star musicians, and an engaging main couple. Florence is a femme singer with major stage presence, sometimes to her own internal detriment. Luca is a “golden retriever” butch drummer who’s finally getting a hold on how she wants to live her life. Both have struggles outside the relationship, such as parental issues and disabling ADHD, giving them defined personalities. It also shows us the way their struggles lessen when they’re with each other. The hook that sold this book to me was a fellow queer person saying it’s “a romance where the femme wears the strap”, and I full endorse that message. This is a book for everyone who loves a confident femme taking care of her butch.
The only things I disliked about this book are 1) the prose is pretty basic and 2) the side cast felt a little weak. Which, for a romance genre, aren’t actually huge dealbreakers. The main couple themselves are the main draw, and I do think this book fully delivers. If you go into it with the correct mindset of “this is a low-stakes, easy to digest sapphic romance to give you the warm fuzzies”, I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

LONG LIVE LESBIAN ROCK STARS!
Scorpio Season was delightfully fun, tender, full of yearning and praise and hard work finally paying off. This book made me smile, made me long for the stage again, and made me wish I could listen to Scorpio Season while I write this review.
There is always something so special to me about books where music is a central part of the plot. Music is so special and this book did it justice.
Going into this book I didn’t realize Luca has ADHD, but I was pleasantly surprised! As a woman with ADHD, I felt seen. The daily struggles of remembering to take meds, being unable to sit still, needing a routine but struggling to stick with one, not being able to read sheet music (that felt like a personal callout) are all things that resonated with me. I really enjoyed the ADHD rep and think it was very well done.
I’m obsessed with Florence, the way she talks made me melt!! If you have a thing for praise (or str@ps) this one’s for you, enjoy ;)
Overall, very much enjoyed and I will now go try to find as many lesbian bands as possible to cope with Scorpio Season not being real!

Overall, not a bad book. I really enjoyed seeing the band bond while on tour with Juno. The romance between Florence and Luca was very slow burn, but you could tell that they cared for each other even if they didn't want to admit it. I did find that pacing was slow at times, but it was still an enjoyable read. The comments on their social media posts were definitely entertaining. I am curious about Toni and Juno though. Will we see them in another book? I definitely feel that there is room to expand on the band and their success.
Highly recommend to readers who are looking for sapphic romances that feature slow burn romance and found family.

I absolutely loved this book! It was addictive, heartwarming, and, at its core, a story about friendship, connection, and perseverance. The intimacy scenes were well done, and the YEARNING was top-notch. From their first interaction, the chemistry between Florence and Luca was palpable. While the story definitely could’ve been expanded and explored more in certain parts, I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and pacing. Most remarkable was how tastefully done the performance scenes were. They were not only believable, but they were immersive--I felt like I was on stage with the band. From the fan comment to the plot with Florence's father, every aspect of this book was captivating and thought-out.

However, I think Bell does an amazing job at exploring different familial relationships and complexities of friendship and how distant familial relationships can impact us far into adulthood.

first off, PEAK PLAYLIST OMG! second, this book was addicting to read, I couldn't put it down. the writing style was great and I loved the punchiness of it, pretty fast paced but not so fast we miss things. I love the lesbian representation, especially in the music industry. I also loved the sisterhood between all the band members (aside from florence and luca ofc lol). This book tackles a lot from ADHD and how it presents in some women to chosen family over blood family. Idk I just loved it :)
first off, PEAK PLAYLIST OMG! second, this book was addicting to read, I couldn't put it down. the writing style was great and I loved the punchiness of it, pretty fast paced but not so fast we miss things. I've had a trend of "sapphic music star romance" going on recently and this book is yet another to add to that list.
This book was described as fast paced, and yeah, it sure is. I'm usually not someone who picks out a fast paced book, but the general premise of this one intrigued me. I'm glad I got out of my comfort zone for it!

This book was so good I didn’t want to put it down!! I absolutely adored the found family aspect of the band and seeing Luca & Florence’s relationship develop while travelling was so cute! I also loved how the cast was primarily queer with the band being entirely queer women. Even with their first interaction being a one night stand, this book still manages to make it more of a slow-burn of them building up their relationship with so much yearning. I thought the ADHD rep was well done in Luca. I can’t wait to see what else this author writes!!

This was a sweet read. I’m a fan of Florence and Luca together and I enjoyed reading about them. All of the characters are great! Toni, Miray, and Izzy didn’t feel like background characters to Flo and Luca’s story. I will say this feels more like a drama (?) as it was more focused on the band. Romance felt like a fun plus. I’m not mad at it, though. I really enjoyed watching the band interact and how they handled the tour. The relationship between Luca and Flo was just an added bonus. It wasn’t romance heavy. Overall I really enjoyed this and I’m excited to read Toni’s story!!

the relationship florence had with her dad was interesting and i liked the fact she wanted to do her own thing and make her own way.
some chapters end with what seems to be a different mixed media component and i do like that.
a fun read i would definitely recommend to my sapphic friends.

Even the part where Flo is pushing Luca away-- like it felt so realistic to me. This book rocked, and the spice was wonderful as well.

This book is an absolute masterpiece. And as a Scorpio myself I am *obviously* the best judge for a book with ‘Scorpio’ in the title. Maisie Bell does a fantastic job writing her characters and bringing them to life. I feel soooo lucky I got to read the eARC for this book and I can’t wait for it to get published in October, right at the beginning of Scorpio Season ;)

This book shows the true meaning of a bond between two bandmates. Florence met Luca after looking for a drummer in the band Scorpio Season. Luca joined the band and became a drummer. Both Florence and Luca had tried their best to hide their attraction due to the sake of the band. This book is a good read.

This book was such a good read. The tension between the two leads was intense. I felt like this book was so soft and intentional with each character and the story line. We got to see a lot of emotional growth and we don’t always get that in books. I love the sapphic representation. I wish they were a real band! I can’t wait for Scorpio Rising.
