A wealthy bachelorette, a resort full of rivals, and a reality show where nobody's playing it straight
Suki Pendleton is a fashion designer who needs eyes on her brand. When she lands a spot on Finding Forever, a sapphic reality dating show filmed in Hawaii, the plan is wear her own designs on camera, charm the bachelorette long enough to get decent airtime, and go home with her sales through the roof.
Freya Lindqvist came to win a bet — one she's already regretting. She's a charmer with a killer smile, an allergy to commitment, and absolutely no intention of falling for anyone, let alone her infuriating rival and roommate, Suki, who won't give her more than two words at a time.
Rivals don't share secrets. Rivals don't watch each other undress. And rivals certainly don't fall for each other. With cameras rolling and a production team that will stop at nothing for drama, Suki and Freya have to decide what they're really competing for.
Finding Forever is a sapphic romcom with rivals-to-lovers heat, reality TV drama, and two hidden agendas that didn’t account for each other.
Lise Gold is an author of lesbian romance. Her romantic attitude, enthusiasm for travel and love for feel good stories form the heartland of her writing. Born in London to a Norwegian mother and English father, and growing up between the UK, Norway, Zambia and the Netherlands, she feels at home pretty much everywhere and has an unending curiosity for new destinations. She goes by 'write what you know' and is often found in exotic locations doing research or getting inspired for her next novel.
Working as a designer for fifteen years and singing semi- professionally, Lise has always been a creative at heart. Her novels are the result of a quest for a new passion after resigning from her design job in 2018.
When not writing from her kitchen table, Lise can be found cooking, at the gym or singing her heart out somewhere, preferably country or blues. She lives in London with her dogs El Comandante and Bubba.
Are you kidding me? This is without doubt the funniest, sweetest story ever!
My God, Lise Gold is talented! This books setting is perfect, the plot is magical and the characters are so bloody believable! I watched maybe two episodes of the Batchelor series and was so disgusted by the actions of the “contestants “ that I couldn’t stomach any more, let alone listen to the water cooler talk. This was so much better! Well written, hysterical and tender.
I always get excited whenever I see that Lise Gold has published a new book, and somehow, she manages to impress me even more every single time. There’s something about her writing that completely pulls me in. I get so invested in the story and the characters that I genuinely can’t focus on anything else until I finish the book. It’s that kind of addictive, all-consuming read… and then, of course, I’m left a little sad when it’s over because I just want more. This book was such a fun experience. The characters were wonderful, so well-written, engaging, and full of life. One of the things Lise Gold does best is creating strong, compelling women, and this book is no exception. I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone looking to escape reality for a while, have fun, laugh, and maybe even shed a few happy tears.
If you want a feel good, clutch your heart, dreamy sigh, melting out of your chair type book....this is it. Loved everything about it. I burned through it in two days cuz I had to see how it ended. Bummed when I finished but pleased with it concluding exactly how I wanted it to end. Satisfied like a good meal. I have to go back and read her other books now!
This was such a fun behind-the-scenes look at a reality dating show. The setting was absolutely delightful: a Hawaiian island, one filthy rich bachelorette, and a group of single women all competing for her attention.
It was light, fun, and feel-good, with a very happy ending!
It felt like watching an entire season of The Bachelorette condensed into one book, but told from the perspectives of two of the contestants. You get all the drama and excitement of the show, plus a peek behind the curtain at what really goes on. Super entertaining!
I don’t think I’ll ever watch a show like The Bachelorette the same way again. 4.5⭐️
he TV show is 'Bachelor, but Lesbians' and Suki is less interested in winning as making a splash. Get her face out there, and help make her fashions a hit.
Freya is there on a drunken bet, and now is worried she might lose. She met Suki early on, and doesn't think much of her. She IS pretty tho.
Maria, the bachelor, is a wealthy real-estate tycoon, worth millions, who focused on work and now wants to find love.
(Why would you recruit 20 contestants only to chop 13 the first day? Admittedly i don't watch these shows, but feels weird.)
Suki and Freya are rooming together. Awkward.
Ha. The bet Freya is in is that if she loses, she has to get a bowl cut. If she wins, her buddy Miriam has to. Suki finds out, finds it hilarious.
The two gradually soften, flirt, then sleep together.
Then a emergency replacement arrives... Beatrice, who's Freya's ex. Whom Freya dated, dumped then ghosted. Oops.
I kinda winced at the polygraph bit. I know it's a book, but that is not how it works.
Bringing Bea in to reveal Freya is a cad, then immediately removing her feels awkward. The hosts did their research, there's got to be a smoother way to reveal it.
The group finds out the show is editing Freya to look like a hard drinking loon, and the remaining women go on strike, not speaking in front of the cameras. It works, they get it in writing that the show can't edit them.
Maria makes her choice, wrap up.
3.5 stars. Good read, had some issues.

It was ok. The setting - reality TV - wasn't appealing at all. At least the book managed to show that it's manipulative at the participants' expense. Freya's excuse for participating isn't credible, or is too close to the "bored trust-fund baby slums among normal people" trope. The third-act break-up didn't work. Freya is supposed to be intelligent, but she falls for a manipulative editing of Suki's kiss with Maria, even when the same edit shows her as an emotional alcoholic. Doesn't make sense. At least it was short and resolved itself. There was also a trademark, completely unnecessary personal boundary violation: Freya reading Suki's diary. It was difficult to sympathize with her after that. Despite all these negatives, it was still enjoyable enough thanks to the author's writing skills: the pacing is very good and the most important thing - the falling for one another - is well done.

Freya’s and Suki’s story is told wonderfully, from enemies/competitors to falling in love anc hiding it from the cameras, the entire story is pure romcom entertainment.
I recommend this book and it’s one that goes into my permanent collection, which means this one will get read again.
Such a clever, heartwarming, easy read. From Freya’s ludicrous high stakes to Suki’s quick-witted quips, and the delightful banter between them, I was laughing throughout. Without spoiling anything, the uneasy alliance formed by the MCs and their competitors is highly satisfying. Lise Gold continues to deliver by including dynamic, multi-dimensional side characters and painting vibrant pictures in every scene, while still maintaining a punchy style and perfect pacing. I can’t wait for her next book.
I loved everything about this story! All the characters were likable and relatable, and I always love LG’s story arcs-never predictable. I loved that the angst was external, and they faced the challenges together. It’s a very heartwarming and fun book to read! I laughed really hard throughout-such a gift! Naturally, there was a cooking scene, and all of the careers were interesting, so the content was also fun. Thank you for this book, Lise!
Can I just say, I’ve never watched any of these types of show. So I have nothing to compare it to. Saying that, it’s everything I would imagine. Fake personalities, secret agendas, backstabbing and the occasional surprise. The overall story makes this something I definitely enjoyed reading. Loved the characters and the setting was beautiful.
Freya and Suki start out as competitors on a dating show, and things change when the two are forced to share a room. This enemies-to-lovers romance is nicely written, with an interesting plot and engaging characters. You can't help but root for all the characters to get their happily ever after (HEA).
I have not read any books by Lise gold that I truly hated! This is an amazing story that made me feel happy. Lise gets better and better the more she writes.
You know the story after a chapter or two, but the story unwinds and it is very entertaining. You like the characters and the setting and the slow suspension to competitors to like to love.
This was warm and funny and I really enjoyed it. It managed to keep my attention throughout, and it made me laugh even during the last third. A real feat as often books lose my interest once the couple get together.
This was the best book I’ve read in ages. I couldn’t put it down and read it in less than 24 hours. It’s funny, well written and engaging. It was an excellent read.
