When an expansion project results in the discovery of a priceless trove of stolen artwork, Nora Ingram-Sheldon learns just how personal her criminal fugitive husband's quest is. Clues are dropping into place as even more pop up.

But can she trust Skip to feed her the information she needs to keep the boys' camp at Mayfield safe, even as the number of boys under Walt Neftali’s care increases? And what is she supposed to do with her newly-arrived, newly twelve-stepping mother-in-law in the wilds of Washington State’s backwoods?

Bolstered by the support and sharp eye of her executive assistant, Clarice, and her nosy cadre of neighbors, Nora hurries to fit the disparate pieces together while attempting to evade her husband's increasingly impatient, revenge-seeking former clients.

About the author

Jerusha Jones

48 books64 followers
Jerusha Jones lives in a small town in the west end of the Columbia River Gorge. When she grows up, she fully intends to be a feisty old lady. In the meantime, she regularly maxes out her library's lending limit, has happily declared a truce with the clover in the lawn, but is fanatical about sealing up cracks in her old house, armed with a caulking gun. Due to the number of gaps she has yet to locate, however, she has also perfected her big spider shriek.

Jerusha loves wool socks, Pink Lady apples with crunchy peanut butter, scenery of breathtaking grandeur, and weather just cool enough to require a sweater, all of which are plentiful in the Pacific Northwest. She is eternally grateful to have escaped the corporate world with its relentless, mind-numbing meetings and now writes (or doodles or fantasizes or cogitates or stares out the window or whatever you want to call it) full time.

Needs editing

I have read several books by this author and they have all been wonderful. This one the mistakes in word usage (too instead of two for example) were numerous and very distracting.

Excellence in its superlative form

How I wish I could write like this! Descriptive sidebars interspersed through colloquy keep you completely immersed in the surroundings, the complex feelings of the characters and give more than a glimpse into the natural beauty of the people and their locale. Even when no shot is fired, the intensity of the situation is palpable and riveting. I could not put this book down. Thanks for another wonderful journey into the lives of the inhabitants of Mayfield!
