Bookmarked for Love is the final book in the Checking Out Love series. It has some of my favorite tropes (age gap, childhood crush) and wonderful representation. The thing about reading a Sarah Monzon book is you'll be able to relate and maybe even see yourself between the pages. Not only that, but the romance between Martha and Julien will leave you in a wonderful glow of a happy ever after. Every book in this series just leveled up and I can't wait for more Sarah Monzon books.

This is a delightful ode to books and the industry. The heroine is one of the most charming I’ve read recently. And this romance has a strong ode to the classic Sabrina — I loved it! There’s so much charm in this later romance.

This was absolutely such a treasure! I definitely enjoyed this sweet, fun, lovely romance. It was just as cozy as the other two and I was just as satisfied. The characters were sweet and fun and I enjoyed seeing them together. And that epilogue was so bittersweet. I didn’t want to say goodbye to all these characters from these books but it also made me so happy seeing where they end up.

so, i made the fatal error of judging this book by its cover, and assumed it was a typical romance when, in fact, it was a christian romance.
i don't read much christian romance and this book reminded me why. the prudishness was laughable although i wouldn't count against this book since that's more of a feature than a bug.
I also won't count against this book for it's total lack of spice. that's part of it being a christian romance, i suppose. but me no likey. we got a few kisses and they weren't even hot. i wanted more of the silver fox and his silver fox.
what i will count against is how unenjoyable and poorly written it was.
the dialogue was painfully cheesy and cringy. and maybe that's a part of christian romance but it shouldn't be. the dialogue was very disney channel/"ERM. He's right behind me isn't he."
Because of that, i felt no chemistry between the two leads. again, the chastity from the christian element also played a part but overall, i felt nothing.
oh, also, the characters read like new adult college-aged characters so i was shocked to find out that they were 38 and 46!!??!? i remember when my parents were that age and they were wayyyy more mature than this.
all in all, i did not enjoy this. i think people who want the watered-down diet iced tea equivalent of a romance novel will, though!

I really enjoyed Bookmarked for Love! I had no idea it was a series when I picked it up, but I still enjoyed it and that didn’t really spoil anything for me for the other two books. I’d definitely go back and read the first two now!
Bookmarked For Love is about Martha, a children’s librarian. When the donations for the library don’t go through, and her job is in jeopardy, she goes back to an old family friend in the publishing industry to ask for a donation. When she walks in his office, however, she meets the son that she had a huge childhood crush on.
This book was really sweet and entertaining! I don’t read a lot of contemporary romance, but I appreciated that it was a fresh take on the romance genre. Martha is almost 40, and plus size (which is mentioned pretty often), while Julien is in his upper 40s. I felt that the ending was a little rushed, and I didn’t care for the scene where Julien declared his “feelings” for Martha. It felt a little bit of a let down after the build up of struggling between his duty to his family and his attraction to Martha. Maybe the conflict was too easily solved?
Overall, this was a fun read with smooth writing. I enjoyed the classic children’s book and movie references! This reminded me of Authentically Izzy but a million times better!
Content notes: one couple uses IVF, God and the Bible are mentioned briefly but faith is not a large or even prominent aspect of the story. Characters do act honorably and kindly with one another.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The characters were likable and the FMC was overall relatable.
Liking Julien was an unexpected surprise since I went into the story assuming I wouldn't like him. The little things he remembered from years before added a bonus layer of depth for his and Martha's love story.
The faith was light in this story but I enjoyed seeing the character's journey.

I adored this age gap novel, which also had two main characters from different economic and social circles.
Part of the sweetness of this story was that Martha had had a childhood crush on the eight years older Julien growing up. What fun it was to see him fall for her, too!
I thought the author did a great job of showing Julien as a man who was trying to do the right thing by his father, yet he struggled with handling the stress of it all as he worked with Martha. It was hard to see him become surly and difficult to deal with as he reacted badly to certain stressors. Yet, it made the overall change in his attitude that much more dramatic and enjoyable to see unfold.
The chemistry between these two and the representation of a curvier, larger woman as the main character was fantastic. I loved the way Julien saw Martha and that he made sure she understood how much he valued her as a person and how beautiful she was to him.

Bookmarked for Love was my first book by Sarah Monzon, and I was not disappointed by it at all! I have read many contemporary romances over the years, but this one was just so unique compared to the rest of them.
I'm not usually a fan of age gap romances and the one bed trope, but I honestly didn't mind it much in this book. And all of the other tropes were so cute, too! I also loved the Publisher × Librarian dynamic! I hadn't read that trope before, but it’s nowhere one that I hope to read more of!
But yeah, overall I really enjoyed this book, and I look forward to reading more by Sarah!!

Reading from the POV of both a librarian and a writer added a fun twist, and for anyone who has ever written and hope of publishing, Martha's dream of getting published will feel familiar. And, as someone who spent countless hours working in VBS, Toddler Time, and Children's Church, I admire Martha's patience and skill with kids. Julien provided a good POV as well, and it was interesting to see things from a publisher's perspective and all that is involved.
Another element I appreciated was that Martha is a plus-sized heroine. It's nice that those of us with a bit more padding are being represented in a positive light, and Martha's positivity about her image will boost the morale of any plus-sized reader. It was a subtle, but needed reminder that we shouldn't society to dictate the standards for beauty, and that we are valuable no matter our size and build. There is also the reminder that life is precious and everyone should slow down and appreciate family.
The bits of history were fascinating, especially the part that discussed the Civil War.

This was such a fun and meaningful read for me. As a larger woman, I don’t find myself represented much in literature, especially in romance. But Sarah Monzon wrote Martha perfectly! I related to her insecurities. A curvy person navigates the world a little differently, and I thought Martha represented us so well!
Aside from the relatability, the humor was stellar! The first night in the hotel scene had me cackling - I was utterly transported to that room and could perfectly imagine the entire scenario. In fact, I’ve experienced the same thing and it just made it that much more hilarious reading it in bed next to my cpap-wearing hubby.
There is so much to love in this book - family dynamics, humor, friendships, redemption, overcoming, and the list goes on. The romance is sweet and swoony, with definite Sabrina/Linus Larrabee vibes. If you’re looking for a bookish romance full of sweet love, mature characters, personal growth, and no spice, I definitely recommend Bookmarked For Love!

I absolutely loved this story! I related to Martha in so many ways, though I still struggle with loving my body, and she doesn't so much. Thank you, Sarah, for writing a book with such a beautiful and smart plus size FMC!!

I wasn't sure if Sarah Monzon could top An Overdue Match—my previous favorite of hers—but she has absolutely done it with Bookmarked for Love! Monzon has a rare gift for exploring sensitive, difficult topics in a raw and realistic way, weaving them into beautiful stories.
Martha is a nearly 40-year-old children's librarian who isn't looking for love. As a curvier woman, she has internal barriers that make her believe men don't view her romantically. When her beloved library faces a budget crisis that threatens both the building and her job, she puts her pride aside to ask a wealthy local donor for financial help. Instead, she finds his son running the meeting: Julien, her very first childhood crush. Now a stunning "silver fox," Julien agrees to fund the library on one condition—Martha must help him revitalize the children's division of his book publishing company.
The chemistry and comfort between Martha and Julien are immediate. I loved how safe and at peace they felt with one another. What truly stole my heart, however, was the incredible body-positivity representation. There is a specific scene where Martha lists the things she loves about her body and what it does for her. As a woman, it can be so difficult to find peace with your body, regardless of size. This scene was incredibly powerful, eye-opening, and deeply relatable.
Alongside the emotional depth, the humor in this book is fantastic. The forced-proximity conference scene where they have to share a room with two beds had me laughing out loud. Martha’s internal monologue about Julien's snoring—and his C-PAP machine the next night—was so hilariously accurate and relatable to anyone who has a snoring spouse!
Sarah Monzon excels at giving a voice to real-life circumstances and turning them into something magnificent. A phenomenal read that I highly recommend!
Allyson Morgan did a magnificent job narrating this story. I tend to prefer a male narrator for the male characters and a female narrator for the female characters, but only having one narrator did not deter from the story at all. She did a great job at bringing the story to life.

Sarah Monzon is a new-to-me author. Even though Bookmarked for Love is third in the "Checking Out Love" series, it reads as a stand alone. I enjoyed this story so much that I am eager to go back and read the first two of the series.
I loved Martha! Such an upbeat, fun personality, with a positive attitude about her plus sized body. Her conversations with Julien are fun to read, with all their references to various children's literature. It was easy to picture all the fun activities Martha planned as the children's librarian (a job I think I would adore doing myself).
I appreciated the insights into running a publishing house, and attending a writer's conference. Maybe someday I'll be able to attend one myself.
Since I lived in the Chattanooga area for a few years (albeit, decades ago), it was fun picturing the descriptions of various sites of the city. There is just so much to enjoy about this novel!
If you enjoy sweet Christian romance, with a literary theme, this is a must-read!

This book is completely adorable! Bookish themed stories(libraries, bookstores, author main characters) are probably my favorite trope and one of my favorite vibes. If it’s a bookish story, it’s a pretty safe bet I will enjoy the story. I loved the humor and banter in this story, as well as the shout outs to the movie Sabrina(which is a longtime favorite movie of mine). One of my favorite things about the story was the older characters as well as a more full figured FMC. Sarah is really good at writing characters that aren’t the “normal” ones and I am here for it! This whole series has been an absolute joy to read, and it would be impossible to pick a favorite because all three are ones I love in different ways. This series has a permanent spot on my keeper/favorites shelf.

This book has a lot of great representation, including body positivity and older main characters, but unfortunately, the plot didn’t really do it for me.
I normally love books about books and publishing, but this one felt very basic. The author spends a lot of time giving dictionary level descriptions of concepts and ideas rather than showing us through the characters’ thoughts and actions, which made the writing feel very simple and underdeveloped at times.
I also wouldn’t have realized this was considered a Christian romance because I didn’t really pick up on any mention of religion. However, the romance itself was very closed off and almost prudish, which may work for some readers, but personally, I like a little more chemistry between my characters.
Overall, this book just wasn’t for me.

I’ll admit it, the gorgeous cover was what first convinced me to add this to my TBR. I really enjoyed the first book in the series, while the second one didn’t resonate with me quite as much, so I was excited to see where this installment would land.
One pleasant surprise was discovering that both main characters are older than the typical romance protagonists I usually read. It ended up being a refreshing change and gave the story a more mature perspective.
Without a doubt, Martha was my favorite part of the book. As a children’s librarian, her love for books shines through every page, but what I appreciated even more was her genuine care for the children she serves. Whether she’s planning creative programs or advocating for their access to stories, her passion feels authentic and inspiring. It’s that dedication that sets the story in motion, leading her to meet with Julian King’s father, only to unexpectedly cross paths with Julien himself.
The opening immediately pulled me in. The stakes surrounding both the library and the publishing world added an engaging layer beyond the romance. I also loved Martha’s inner pep talks whenever her insecurities threatened to take over. They made her feel relatable, and I admired her quiet determination to keep showing up despite her self-doubt.
As for the romance, I thought the chemistry was sweet rather than intensely swoony, which suited the tone of the novel. The pacing felt comfortable, and if you’ve read Sarah Monzon before, you’ll recognize her signature blend of warmth, humor, and heartfelt moments.
I did have a couple of small quibbles, though. There was a point where Julien’s behavior shifted rather abruptly, and while I understood the pressures he was under, the transition felt a little sudden to me. I would have loved to see that emotional progression unfold a bit more gradually.
Once they got together, the romance leaned a little too lovey-dovey for my personal taste. I tend to enjoy the tension and gradual build-up more than the sweet, affectionate stage of a relationship, so I found myself less invested after that point. While I was happy to see the characters find their way to each other, I found myself wishing for just a little more development leading into that final emotional payoff. For me, I wanted to feel the relationship deepen a bit more before everything came together. That said, this is very much a personal preference, and judging by other readers’ reactions, many found the romance completely satisfying.
One thing I absolutely loved was revisiting the friendships and seeing previous couples from the series again. Those moments brought so much warmth to the story and reminded me why I enjoy this world Sarah Monzon has created. In many ways, they were some of my favorite scenes in the entire book.
Overall, while this wasn’t my favorite in the series, it was still a charming, heartfelt read with memorable characters, meaningful themes, and plenty for book lovers to enjoy.

Let me start by saying I really liked this book.
It was a very good book!
It was cute, funny, sweet, and fairly unique in some ways...
BUT I was very, very disappointed to get all the way to the end to find the epilogue to include IVF (when, BTW, the rest of the book never mentioned infertility, etc.) I am staunchly against IVF as it is human trafficking that abuses and often murders innocent humans. IVF, like all abortion, must be abolished and criminalized. Side note: Children conceived in IVF (just like children conceived in rape, fornication, etc.) are blessings IN SPITE OF the sinful industry of IVF.
THAT SAID - Far too many people are just plainly uneducated on this topic or haven't considered the ramifications of it. I am giving the author the benefit of the doubt and rating this book as if the epilogue doesn't exist.
Things I loved about this book:
-It was laugh out loud funny at times!
-The MMC was so sweet and masculine.
-The FMC was admirable and feminine.
-Not only was it not formulaic, it actually kind of poked fun at the "misunderstanding leads to third act break up" trope.
-We actually got to see the main characters be together! It didn't just end with them finally admitting their feelings like most romances. I love actually getting to see characters be together!
What I didn't like so much and why I took off a star:
-It was odd to me how the FMC's POV was 1st person but the MMC's POV was 3rd person. Kind of jarring.
-As a "plus size" woman myself, I hated all the "body posivity" stuff. Especially the scene on the plane when she was telling herself all the things her amazing body could do. lol just no, please. I don't know what "body positivity influencers" the author has been listening to but... please stop listening to them. 😅
I also didn't like that the MMC was supposed to be an intelligent, educated, middle aged man who was completely oblivious to any thoughts whatsoever about why the FMC would be self-conscious - as if he has never once considered that she was over weight and never once heard about anyone having a problem with that, etc. This was so unrealistic it actually kind of took me out of the book.
Over all, without the major disappointment at the end, this was a very enjoyable book!

I absolutely loved this charming addition to the Checking Out Love series! It’s a delightful blend of heart and humor, with great character development, a swoony later in life romance. and a lovely message that our worth isn’t determined by our appearance or status, but rather by our character and our actions. What a lovely conclusion to a series I’ve really enjoyed. Martha’s POV was definitely my favorite, as her inner voice was equal parts mature and quirky. I loved how kind and passionate she is about her job and books in general (because same lol). Julien was a smitten kitten from the beginning and I was HERE FOR IT. Their interactions carried so much tension but with the maturity of a couple falling for one another later in life. I laughed out loud at moments then found myself swooning the next. Seeing Evangeline, Hayley, and their men were just icing on the cake. I’m looking forward to reading what’s next for Sarah Monzon!

This was a super fun rom-com by Sarah Monzon! This is book 3 in the Checking Out Love series, but this could be read as a stand-alone. Martha has shown up as a side character in the first 2 books and the main characters from those books show up in this one, but the story itself stands alone. The epilogue gives a great tie-up of the series showing all of the main characters 3 years later. This book had several laugh-out-loud moments, but also some serious and weighty moments. The thing I enjoyed the most is that the main characters in this book were mature - both age-wise (38 and 46) and emotionally speaking. They did not shy away from the hard conversations or situations and I appreciated that a great deal. I also appreciated that the main female character had a larger body-type, but was very "body positive". I don't know that I've ever truly seen this in a story line before and it was refreshing! The romance element was sweet and fun - and honest, making it enjoyable. This is one I would call "faith light". There was definitely an underlying faith included in the book, but it was more subtle in its appearances. Regardless this was a fun, clean, closed door romantic comedy that I can heartily recommend to fans of the genre.

I cannot remember ever enjoying a book as much as I enjoyed this one. With a charming plot of friends to lovers and close proximity, this book also led me down the path of nostalgia as many favorite books from my childhood were mentioned by Martha as she endeavors to educate Julien King on child literature since he is the head of that division for his family’s publishing company. I laughed aloud when Julien came up with a scheme to provide library funding for Martha in exchange for her expertise in his company. Although some of the plot was predictable, it was so much fun reading how the two main characters got from being mere acquaintances from different social walks of life to the place where they could trust and count on each other. Martha and Julien were both easy to cheer for in this carefully plotted and compelling story that was refreshing to read and a delight to recommend to others. The whole story paints a vivid picture of the two as they make plans together to find a bestselling children’s author who will save the children’s section of King Publishing. This is a heartwarming romance with charm, plenty of emotional depth and lots of trivia about children’s books. The banter between the two main characters was laugh-out-loud funny at times and made me fall in love with the book as I got immersed in their story, the conflict and the resolution that was absolutely perfect. The pace is moderate but is perfectly executed for a flirtatious romance with two headstrong characters working towards a happily ever after. The real selling point for the book was that it can definitely be read and enjoyed as a standalone. I did enjoy it so much though that now I plan to add the other two books in the series to my must read stack of books and cannot wait to read other books by this author. Fun, engaging, and satisfying in all ways!

A light, fun, yet inspiring read. I would expect no less from Monzon, honestly! Martha finally gets her turn in the spotlight in the last book of the Checking Out Love trilogy, and me oh my, was it adorable. I LOVED all the children's books references, and the fictional foray into the world of publishing, writer's conferences, and of course, Martha's struggles through her author journey.
Martha is such a powerful character. I love the positive plus-size representation, and all the inner dialogues she has to remind herself of how well her body serves her. I expected her to be much more insecure about her body, but she really is a shining role model here and challenged how I think about my own body. She's so sweet and bubbly, and I loved picturing all the library story time scenes and how she loved on those kiddos. And, of course, as a writer myself, I loved those elements of her story.
Julien was a little rough around the edges at times, but rightly so, given all the pressure he was under. My dad can get kind of like that too, so it didn't feel unrealistic. He loved Martha so well, and the age gap really melted away, in my mind.
It did feel like the conflict was dealt with almost TOO easily at times--I wanted them to have to fight for resolution. I also wish the faith content could have been a *smidge* more prevalent, but it was definitely there! Also, 100% LOVED the panel on trigger warnings at the conference and agree with Julien's interpretation.
Overall, this was a super quick and sweet read, and I zoomed right through it. Perfect if you're craving something bookish and fun!

I just finished the audiobook of Bookmarked for Love by Sarah Monzon, and it is such a sweet, funny romance. The story is narrated by Allyson Morgan, who does a great job of making the characters sound real and bringing out all the humor. It is a completely clean, feel-good listen that kept me smiling the whole time.
The plot follows a plus-size children's librarian named Martha Aldridge who is about to lose her job due to budget cuts. To save her library programs, she goes to her old childhood crush, Julien King, who is a silver-fox heir to a publishing company.
Julien needs to save his company's kids' book division to prove himself to his dad, but he knows nothing about the industry. He agrees to fund Martha’s library if she temporarily joins his office to help him find a bestselling manuscript.
Working together leads to some great banter, a business trip with only one hotel room available, and a lot of old feelings coming back to life.
Martha is funny and relatable, and Julien is a respectful guy who truly values her. I loved that they act like mature adults who actually talk out their issues instead of letting misunderstandings ruin things.
The ending wraps up both the library's future and their relationship perfectly. I highly recommend this lighthearted, comforting romantic story.

I just finished the audiobook of Bookmarked for Love by Sarah Monzon, and it is such a sweet, funny romance. The story is narrated by Allyson Morgan, who does a great job of making the characters sound real and bringing out all the humor. It is a completely clean, feel-good listen that kept me smiling the whole time.
The plot follows a plus-size children's librarian named Martha Aldridge who is about to lose her job due to budget cuts. To save her library programs, she goes to her old childhood crush, Julien King, who is a silver-fox heir to a publishing company.
Julien needs to save his company's kids' book division to prove himself to his dad, but he knows nothing about the industry. He agrees to fund Martha’s library if she temporarily joins his office to help him find a bestselling manuscript.
Working together leads to some great banter, a business trip with only one hotel room available, and a lot of old feelings coming back to life.
Martha is funny and relatable, and Julien is a respectful guy who truly values her. I loved that they act like mature adults who actually talk out their issues instead of letting misunderstandings ruin things.
The ending wraps up both the library's future and their relationship perfectly. I highly recommend this lighthearted, comforting romantic story.

I've been reading this series/trilogy from book one and have been completely hooked. I love the world and characters that author Sarah Monzon has created. The characters are real, down to earth people, full of goodness and heart. Martha's character is so lovable and sweet. She's witty and fun, spunky and delightful! She is definitely a character who is easy to relate to and connect with as a reader. Her determination drives this story. She loves her community, and she loves the children at her local library. She's not going to let them suffer because of budget cuts.
And then the unexpected happens... Julien King. Not in a million years did she think she'd run into him. His dad, yes, that was the plan. But not Julien. Her childhood crush. I just adored these two. They definitely have some ups and downs along their journey, but I loved watching them work together and rediscover who the other is. And in some regards, discover who the other is. It's been many years since they've seen each other. Some of my favorite parts were when Julien started sharing memories and his perspective from their shared childhood moments. Moments that Martha didn't think meant anything to him. *Happy Sigh* It was really sweet. And helped Martha realize that maybe, just maybe he really does care for her outside of a working relationship.
There are some interesting family dynamics at play. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about them, but in the end I loved how the author had it all play out.
You can read this book as a standalone if you'd like. The other characters do have cameos in it and I loved the ending with everyone together. Since I loved all three, I recommend reading them all. But you can pick one, two, or all three to get lost within the pages of.

Bookmarked for Love is the third installment of the Checking Out Love series by Sarah Monzon. It is a sweet rom-com that will sweep you right in, even if you are reading it as a standalone. I enjoyed the audio version, which was delightfully narrated by the talented Allyson Morgan. Living in a world of books is a dream for readers and a story about book themed romance between a librarian and a publisher is simply the cinnamon sprinkle on my coffee. Monzon has readers delightfully following along as Martha finds herself in the unenviable position of working alongside her childhood crush, who now holds her future in his hands. Julian is elbow deep in his own unenviable situation and it seems only Martha can turn the page and bring on his next chapter. Working together is their path to meeting their goals, but it just might also be the pen that writes their happily ever after. Characters written with depth and reality, combined with a bit of complication and a satisfying storyline makes Bookmarked for Love a fun and easy read for the beach, the hammock, or wherever you take your delights!
