Author Nova Walsh writes cozy mysteries full of humor, shenanigans, and friendships that last a lifetime. She mixes in a healthy dose of amateur sleuthing, some slow-burn romance, and a pinch of comedy in every book she writes.
Nova is a former chef/caterer who still loves to cook but loves to write even more. She’s an enthusiastic, if not totally successful gardener who loves travel, wine, and hanging out with friends.
Nova grew up in the southwest, and now lives in Galveston, Texas with her husband and son. When she isn’t writing, she’s often cooking, gardening, hiking, feeding stray animals, or trying to make her way through her endless TBR pile.
This is another really enjoyable cozy mystery set in a small town. This time Ginny and Vince investigate when a con man is murdered. He was the boyfriend of a local woman and a local fisherman is arrested. Ginny and Vince set out to clear his name.
I knew who the killer was pretty quickly but loved how everything was put together by Ginny. I especially enjoyed her feistiness when she assumed the role of Joe's lawyer bringing her past experience to bear. Of course the setting, the people and especially the baking makes this series what it is and I defy you to read while not drooling at the thought of sampling some of those goods. I look forward to the next instalment.

The entire town came together in this one for a celebration of New Year’s Eve. Ginny finally used her lawyer smarts toward an actual case instead of amateur sleuthing. In fact, according to ol’ Joe, she made “…that old sheriff look like a first -year cadet.” Ginny isn’t simply a bakery owner. Oh no, she is also a scary, tough, no nonsense lawyer!
And speaking of the lawyer, there was a murder and the number one suspect (in fact, the only suspect) was Joe. No reason to suspect him except that he is often down at the dock fishing and that’s where the body was found. Also, Joe’s scarf 🧣 was in the vicinity of the body. So the darned sheriff arrested him! Everyone knows it’s ridiculous and that Joe is an innocent and sweet man who is observant, but not a monster.
So, Ginny and Vince are on the case to capture the guilty. And they do. They even set a trap to catch the culprit.
Oh, and one more thing! There’s a surprise Vince gives to Ginny in the end. She’s the only one in probably the entire town that is surprised though. Small towns…they know everything in only moments.
This book gave me all kinds of warm feelings. The descriptions of the houses and the people and the town were all perfectly small town.
Next is book 7 that will be published/released July 14, 2026 - “Biscuits and Bodies”.
There’s a recipe for Vince’s Tiramisu at the very end of this book. Also, a recipe for Ginny’s Winter Beef Stew. I always take pictures of any recipes of interest in books and put the description aka recipe title under the picture. That way I can search in my pictures for it!
See you in my next book thoughts review. Stay kind. Stay humble. Stay happy! Deuces to your cabooses! ✨😆✨
Tiramisu and Trouble is everything I love about a cozy mystery—warm, inviting, and filled with characters who feel like old friends. In this sixth installment of the Moonstone Bakery series, Nova Walsh delivers another charming mystery layered with small-town intrigue, friendship, and just enough danger to keep the pages turning.
Ginny Malone is settling into life in Moonstone Bay when the town’s peaceful winter season is disrupted by the suspicious death of a newcomer. What begins as a tragic fall quickly turns into something far more complicated, especially when the victim is revealed to be a con artist with a trail of deception behind him. As suspicion falls on local favorite Joe Morrison, Ginny and her private investigator boyfriend Vince dig deeper to uncover the truth before an innocent person is blamed.
The Moonstone Bakery feels like a place you’d want to visit—warm pastries, friendly banter, and a close-knit community that pulls together when trouble arrives. The cast of characters—Fran, Lois, James, Maya, and of course Shortcake the cat—adds humor, heart, and familiarity that longtime readers will especially appreciate.
Walsh balances suspense with lighthearted moments, including budding romances, small-town gossip, and even delicious recipes (yes, including tiramisu!). The pacing is steady, with clues revealed gradually and a satisfying resolution that ties everything together.
A cozy mystery that’s comforting, engaging, and just a little bit irresistible—like the perfect slice of tiramisu.
Life for Ginny Malone has never been better. After a successful Christmas visit to her boyfriend Vince’s family, the two are closer than ever. Business is doing well at the Moonstone bakery, and the whole town is gearing up for New Year’s Eve. Of course, nothing ever goes as planned for Ginny Malone. Fran, the owner of the town’s diner, asks Ginny and Vince to investigate a man her friend is dating. Unfortunately, Vince finds out he’s a notorious con man. Even more unfortunately, the man winds up dead the day after they start investigating him. When the police arrest the local town eccentric for the crime, Ginny and Vince step in to prove his innocence and find the real killer. The mystery in this story was pretty easy to solve, but it’s not about the mystery. Nova Walsh’s books are about people. And in Tiramisu and Trouble, the why-done-it is more important than the who-done-it. It s an excellent story with an amazing cast of characters. Ms. Walsh does a great job of giving each of the townspeople their own individual personalities and makes them all very human and relatable. I especially love the romance between Ginny and Vince. They’ve both grown so much throughout the series and are a terrific couple. I absolutely loved this book! I received an advance copy of this book and am enthusiastically leaving this 5-star review.
I picked up Tiramisu and Trouble because I love cozy mysteries with food themes, and the title instantly caught my attention. This ended up being such a fun and enjoyable read with the perfect mix of charm and mystery.
I really liked the bakery/café atmosphere and all the little food details woven throughout the story. It made the book feel warm and cozy while still keeping the mystery interesting. The tiramisu theme added a fun touch and honestly made me crave dessert while reading.
The main character was easy to like, and I enjoyed following along as things slowly unraveled. The pacing felt steady, and the mystery kept me guessing without becoming too complicated. I had a few suspicions along the way, but I still enjoyed seeing how everything came together in the end.
I also liked the supporting characters and the sense of community throughout the story. It added personality and made the setting feel even more inviting.
Overall, I really enjoyed Tiramisu and Trouble. It’s a cozy, entertaining mystery with likable characters, a charming food-themed setting, and enough twists to keep things interesting. If you enjoy culinary cozies with a little humor and suspense, this one is definitely worth checking out.

I am an ARC reader for Book Sirens and this is my honest opinion. I've been following this series from book 1 and thoroughly enjoying it. It's a perfect kind of cozy series. The stars are Ginny, an exile from her life as a big city lawyer, a broken marriage to a cheating husband for whom she was simply an attractive appendage. Arrived in Moonstone Bay with the idea of opening a bakery and bought a slightly dilapidated cottage. She rented the building for the bakery from Vince Rinaldi, struggling PI who the town sheriff regards as his enemy, mainly because Vince is a better detective. The rest of the cast are basically the whole, small Californian seaside town. Each episode has a body (obviously) friendships , delicious bakery products, Ginny and Vince solving the mystery, leaving the sheriff behind - and a slow burn romance between them. This story is quite topical in that the murder victim is a romance scammer. There's a heartwarming New Years Eve, and the end leaves the reader feeling fussy and warm. Oh - and a couple of recipes at the end!
What a cute little cozy mystery! Tiramisu and Trouble ticked off all the boxes for me when it comes to my cozies: lovable characters, a small shop (in this case, a bakery with delicious sounding treats), and community building that makes me want more. I loved the various relationships in this story, especially Ginny's and Vince's. Moonstone Bay is a lovely fictional place that I was happy to be immersed in while reading this story. I will say, I'm not the type of reader that's digging between the lies to solve the mystery ASAP, but I do feel like I caught on to the killer a little earlier than some other cozies. Regardless, I read these for the setting and the characters more than the murder mystery itself. I went ahead and purchased book 1 as I'm very much eager to visit Moonstone Bay again! *I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.*
There are some secrets in this small town, and Ginny makes it her mission to get answers and find out the secrets. There are several whoppers that come to light by the story's end. The biggest and most important secret that Ginny didn't discover before the town did was an absolute miracle and too sweet to reveal!! Ginny and Vince are people you want to invest in and easily do so through their story. Entertaining, suspenseful, and romantic. Get it for yourself!!! I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest review .
Tiramisu and Trouble is Book 6 in the Moon stone Bakery by Nova Walsh. The New Year is around the corner and Ginny is looking forward to fireworks… NOT murder. Small towns have long standing grudges, secrets, and everyone knows everyone's business. I enjoy this series and the characters are well written and have become book friends. Ginny and her PI boyfriend, Vince, are working hard to discover the killer. I think that the reason for the murder was interesting. Will you discover who done it before Ginny and Vince? I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
Tiramisu and Trouble is a Superb story and series about Ginny a Bakery Owner, her Boyfriend Vince a Private Investigator and her special cat Shortcake. Someone was found dead on the Broadwalk and Vince with Ginny start to look into this puzzle. There are many pieces to this puzzle. But can they discover all the pieces and uncover the truth?
I enjoyed reading this story very much and I highly recommend that you. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Tiramisu & Trouble is a great story. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last since I liked reading about bakery owner Ginny Malone & her PI boyfriend Vince Rinaldi. This is a nice cozy mystery with romance, humor & sweet ending. I’ll definitely read the other books in this series. And the tiramisu & stew recipes in the back of the book are a bonus!! I received this book as an ARC from Book Sprout & am leaving an honest review.
When a bitter argument on the boardwalk ends with a man found dead, eccentric fisherman Joe becomes the only suspect. Known for his wild stories and late-night ramblings, Joe has always been more amusing than dangerous. Sheriff Donovan isn’t convinced that he's not the one who did it.

This was a fun story to try to solve. Such a cute small town filled with friends and tourists. I was looking for who had motive and means. What was revealed took me by surprise. I did have a question that wasn’t answered. I don’t want to say what it is since that would give away the murderer. I would read more in the series. This is book 6.
This was a lovely read. I enjoy Ginny, Vince and all the other characters from Moonstone Bay that the reader is introduced to. I am also enjoying Ginny's burgeoning relationship with Vince. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

A body under the boardwalk threatens to derail the town's New Year's festivities. When a friend is accused of the murder, Ginny and Vince set out to clear his name. As they follow the trail of clues, they find secrets, grudges, and danger.
This is a fun cozy with cute pets and clues to unravel. I received an advance copy, but my review is honest and voluntary.
A great cozy mystery. I liked the connection between Ginnie and Vince and how they worked together to try and solve the crime. I also liked how it took place just before New Years Eve and that it concluded with fireworks. I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I look forward to reading more by Nova Welsh.
