For three years, I've been the perfect assistant to the most powerful Alpha in the country. Efficient. Invisible. Indispensable. There's just one I'm not actually a Beta. I'm an Omega using illegal suppressants and a forged identity to work at K-Corp, where Reid Ashford terrifyingly brilliant, obsessively controlled CEO—has built an empire on never letting biology dictate business. Getting caught means a federal crime charge and Forced the government assigns me a "Guardian Alpha" and I lose everything I've built. So I've been very, very careful. Until a private jet at 40,000 feet. Until my suppressants fail and my scent fills the cab, wild honey and cream, impossible to hide. Until Reid discovers the truth with nowhere for either of us to run. I expect fury. Termination. A call to the DPD. Instead, when we land and agents are waiting, Reid does something I never saw he claims me. A desperate counter-bite that legally binds us and saves me from erasure—but makes me his property under the law. Now I'm bonded to a man who sees Omegas as liabilities, living in his penthouse gilded cage while corporate rivals leak photos to tank his stock. And I'm hiding an even bigger I'm three weeks pregnant from a heat I couldn't supress, and the biological bond means Reid can feel every lie I tell. He says he'll protect me. He says he'll burn down anyone who touches me. But in a world where your designation is your destiny, I have to stay invisible, or let the most dangerous Alpha in the country see all of me.
A high-heat omegaverse romance secret identity, boss/assistant, forced proximity, counter-bite, mpreg, "touch him and you die" possessiveness, and an Alpha who'll rewrite corporate law to keep his Omega. Each book in this series concludes with an HEA and can be read as a stand-alone.
This book is a complete mess of screwed up and inconsistent timelines, names, personalities, histories, etc.
For example: - In one chapter the CEO is 35 then the next chapter we’re three years into future but now the CEO is 34. - One chapter ends with the omega opening the door and looking at the alpha. The next chapter opens with him still deciding whether to open the door. - One chapter ends with them deplaning and on the tarmac. Then suddenly they’re deplaning again in the next chapter? - One moment his suppressants are just failing for the first time in 10 years and has never been with an alpha. Then suddenly we learn that his suppressants started failing weeks ago and he hooked up with some alpha and got pregnant? - In one chapter the alpha is making lunch for the omega since he knows how to take care of himself, then a couple of chapters later he can't even toast bread?
That covers just some of the issues with the first third of the book. Sigh. I was into the premises, but there is really no excuse for this level of sloppiness. I’ll let you form your own conclusions about why this is such a mess.
The plot had potential but the characters remain flat throughout. You never feel the intimacy develop between the characters. The main conflict of the story came too soon and as a reader I was burned out way before the payoff because the stakes of the story stayed high. Got bored fast with the story but I stuck it out to see if it got better, which it didn't.
This was one of the better story lines in Omega verse but for the love of Pete, this book needed both an editor and a good proof reading!!! But its not hard enough to get through it, just irritating to see.
Started off good... but then inconsistencies... the repetition, the error of "he touched my clit" and its 2 men? This does not feel like it was written by human. (Not an acusation) its a personal feeling.
MM omegaverse romance, with mpreg, hidden identities, boss/employee relationship and lots of legal drama. I enjoyed the overall story the characters, and seeing their bond develop.
There are some inconsistencies, repetition, and conflicts which needed editing and would have helped with the flow.,
3,5 Die Idee war cool, leider gab es ein paar Fehler die aufgefallen sind. Er nennt ihn am Ende wieder bei seinem alten Namen, dann wieder nicht? Hat teilweise keinen Sinn gemacht.
