Ivy Quinn lives a quiet life to an outsider. She has a part-time job serving ice cream cones and rents the small apartment above a Chinese takeout. But she’s hiding something terrifying behind closed doors. They call her The Widowmaker—a serial killer hell bent on taking out men who’ve never faced the consequences of their actions.
Bryce Cross is an FBI Agent. Solving this case would be the highlight of his career. With pressure from above, he travels to Savannah, Georgia to search for clues on where The Widowmaker might strike next. There, he meets Ivy. Finally, he thinks he’s found something real. Something worth staying for. But under her pretty smile and charming exterior, Ivy’s hiding something that could damn them both.

* Dark romance * Dark romance novellas * Female serial killers * Serial Killer x FBI Agent * FBI Romance
Speedy, spicy novella by one of my new favorite authors. Ivy has a secret hobby. Her activities are orchestrated by a secret backer but she is the weapon. Bryce is the fine-ass FBI agent sent to track a killer. Did he arrest the wrong man?
“Ivy was a killer and Bryce was hell bent on hunting her down. There would be no happy ending for the two of them.” Or would there 😈 I really enjoyed this ARC read. I wouldn’t call it a super dark romance, but it definitely had a lot of dark elements woven through and it blended really well. The relationship between Ivy (serial killer)and Bryce (FBI agent) that formed didn’t feel rushed or forced and it felt very natural in the way that they came together and got all the feels. I love the character Ivy, you could picture her from the way the author described her. She is this cute lil sassy thing that had a soft, family oriented side while at the same time she’s out here killing men who’ve done horrible things to women. She was a woman out here delivering justice for other women that have been harmed in the past when justice wasn’t served for them. The setting was spot on. Being from the South, I really appreciated how accurate the Savannah descriptions and southern vibe felt. It didn’t feel fake or overdone in the “southern” aspect. Also small detail that I loved, the author clearly paid attention to law enforcement behavior. That comment about Bryce being uncomfortable with his back to a window, that’s real. Little things like that made it more connectable to people that have been in that type of work environment or know someone who has. There wasn’t a huge amount of spice but there was more than enough, and honestly, the story hit without it! The only thing that threw me off was a couple spots the dirty talk felt a little off compared to the rest of the energy in that moment (going from co*ck to penis) and it pulled me out just a tiny bit but not enough to not enjoy it. With that being said I still rate it a solid 4/5 ⭐ honestly closer to a 4.5 /5 ⭐ because I would 100% read this story again.
I enjoyed the first half with the FBI and female serial killer romance, but the back half was a bit of a let down.
Firstly, the mmc seen the fmc twice and was basically in love. It was “different” and “new” but had looked at her twice, barely spoke 3 sentences. But whatever I can get past that because I don’t mind insta love. It was the ending where everything seemed rushed and like chapters were missing.
Secondly, he said he wouldn’t tell anyone but then she knocked him out so he didn’t remember the conversation (this was her reasoning) but he did remember the conversation and then she drugged him BUT he still remembered the conversation. I just didn’t understand this plot point because he had already said he wasn’t going to tell and after all that he still wasn’t going to tell and then everything was fine? I just didn’t see the point of knocking him out and then drugging him to come to the same conclusion that was happening in the first place lol.
I didn’t mind the authors writing, it was just the ending I found confusing and not as strong.
