In the letter, I began to realize what patterns made up my life. And in the hope of finding meaning and a new start I embraced life, let it come rattling against me in a long chain of possible starts: colorful, mean, comic, surreal, crass. Like loving tales and evil fairy tales. Portraits and images evoked each other, began to move until I could feel them with my body, skin and heart. I fell through a spiral of experience, finally settling on the bottom of a hole, on a farm, in a sandbox in Kiruna. Here, I think, is the start of my arduous climb back to the point of my life's beginning.

A novel about the skill of loving every last son of a b*tch.

A great Swedish 'novel for a generation' from the late 90's. Very well written, dark humor, existential questions and the hardships of growing up. Had this been around when I was a teenager, I would have read it to pieces.

Changed my life when i was 17 years old. Trying to read it again a decade later, i realised it is perfect for young people going over to the grown-up life, not so much perfect for adults such as my current self.
