She’s also planning her perfect romantic wedding to fiancé, Piers, and Arielle is starting to believe that she’s finally found her place in the world... Of course life is never that straightforward.

We are back in Arielle Lockley’s world.
Arielle Lockely is engaged now and she starts her own business in London. Everything seems to be going so well for her, but it's hard work.
I love her passion for what she does, she puts everything into it and wants to do the best job possible.
Next to the job there is planning the wedding, but somehow she and Puers felt distant to each other and I didn't really feel the love there. Over the ages it becomes clear that Piers has difficulties with his health, but he doesn't say a word.bthey have some cute moments, but then again I felt like they are not even a couple.
Then there is Felicity, her business partner, malso struggling with her health and her evil granddaughter Etta, god I hated that girl.
Towards the end the story gets really dramatic and a lit of things happen. Before it was a lovely story, but then it gripped me. Some actions and what was really important to me some real emotions were finally involved. I got really scared at one point and of course, that's when Elle had to stop the book, I can't wait now to read book 3.
Arielle has to figure out what is important to her, before she loses it all and now I finally saw a genuine spark in her. I was glad she had her friends and family through all of this!
At times I felt that the story mived slowly and then sometimes to fast, with some incidents happening, that I couldn't rally place. All in all it's a wonderful story of a woman on her journey to find out what she really wants in life. The writing is fresh, funny and vivid!!!
Arielle Lockley is back!. This is book 2 in the series and its just got even better. Arielle, has finally managed to get to a point in her life where things seem to be going well. Having found a premises in a prime location in London for her and business partner Felicitys new clothes shop, Arielle is busy planning and getting excited for the pop up launch night. She is getting a lot of help from her famous friend Tabitha, who is gladly giving up her time and helping Arielle in anyway she can. Arielle is also trying to plan her wedding to Piers but there never seems to be enough time. Something seems to be off with Piers healthwise but whatever it is hes trying to keep it a secret from Arielle. Choosing to brush it off and not disscuss it. Felicity is also having some health concerns and her goddaughter Etta is determined that Arielle will not get her hands on her godmothers money or business. What Etta doesnt undestand is that Arielle is genuine. I love Arielle and following her adventures, she has grown up and really come into her own in the second book. There is enough going on in this to keep you glued to each page. Some twists and turns and a cliffhanger will leave you gasping for more.
"Lost" is a second book in the series about Arielle Lockley, and well, you could read it as a stand - alone novel, but it makes much more sense to read "Kept" at first - and when you do this, you will understand why :)
I really love when the characters change and move and not stay in one place all the time, and the characters that Elle introduces are to are developing. Especially Arielle's. She learning the whole time and even if she makes mistakes, she learns her lesson. She also learns to make decisions and be a little more independent. She has come a long way from the Arielle she used to be in "Kept" and started to appreciate that "being kept" is not what she dreams of, that it's worth to fight and take risks. It seems that she's already figured out what she wants to do in her life, she only doesn't know yet how to do it.
I think it is unavoidable to make comparisons to the first book in the series and wonder how much, and if, Arielle has changed. Because, in my opinion, she has changed. In "Kept" she seemed to me to be incredibly spoiled and self - centred, which didn't make me like her immediately, but in "Lost" we can see that she grown up and matured a little, and she's not putting herself in the centre anymore but is more often thinking about other people.
Arielle in this book is like a changed woman, and I liked the change in her. She has her moments of course when she's still so light - headed and careless, but oh well, she wouldn't be Arielle is she wasn't like this, right? She didn't need a change of personality, she only needed to grow up a little and, in my eyes, she did it. I absolutely enjoyed reading how much she devoted herself to her passion and how passionate she was about bringing her ideas to life. It only shows that she CAN, yes, she can.
Arielle seems to have found herself, she is calmer and stopped behaving like a spoiled brat - well, let's be honest, she used to be like this. Now she really got a hold of herself and oh my, it's really not her fault that she often puts herself into troubles, right? Don't get me wrong, she didn't turned into a businesswoman in a suit and with mouth like a cat bum, oh no, there is still so much freshness and well, youth that I enjoyed in her in the first book.
"Lost" focuses mostly on Arielle, of course, but this time we get a better and greater view on other characters as well. There is a little more of Arielle's parents, which made me glad, as they are really the supporting kind of parents that I so like in the books, there is more of Piers, who OK, may be all the time absent and travelling, but he's nevertheless THERE, and we see he's a real support for Arielle (and Piers? What's up with you? I really hope it's nothing serious!), new friend Tabitha who gives us a lesson that we shouldn't believe in everything that's written in the tabloids, as well as Arielles's old friends, and one of them is going to stir some problems. All of them are really nicely written and they all have their own personalities.
The author tried to stir some troubles adding the mostly arrogant and unpleasant Etta to the crowd of the characters, but while I appreciate this attempt, it seems uncompleted to me, as Etta disappeared all the times. She only enters a few scenes to be unpleasant and that is all.
Elle's descriptions of the clothes and fashion were just spot on and even if I am not fashionista at all, I have truly enjoyed them and was totally curious how this idea of pop - up is going to develop - it was something totally new for me, shoot me please but I have never heard of something like pop - up and it really appealed to me, and I hoped it's going to work out for Arielle, even with the awful Etta on board.
This time Elle touches also the very gentle issue of dementia, and in my opinion she has done it perfectly. She managed to approach the essence of the illness in a perfect yet in some ways funny way, because let's be honest, the changes in Felicity's way of thinking were both funny and tear - jerking. Elle didn't overwhelmed us with the sad descriptions of the illness but she managed to stress how serious it can be, and how depressing it can be, not only for the affected but for the friends as families as well.
I know there is going to be the third book in the series, but the end of "Lost" was too rushed for my liking, it ended too abruptly and it left many questions open - I know it is intended and I really can't wait to read the third and final book in the series, it's just that like I said, the end was too abrupt for my liking, I had a feeling it ended in the middle of something that should be explained and wasn't.
But can it be that there is going to be trouble with Obelix in the next book in the series? And oh my, how much I like the string of the titles of the books! First we had "Kept", now we have "Lost", and we're going to have "Found" - absolutely love it!
I really liked "Lost" and I am looking forward to "Found" already. Elle Field has this incredibly warm, engaging writing style and her story telling is incredible. This novel was fast - paced, quirky and witty and it had this feel - good factor to it. And let's not forget the cover of this book as well, which totally takes my fancy, the same as the cover of "Kept" - they are both just so lovely and funny and suit the content of the stories from beginning to the end!

About the Author Elle Field lives in London. She enjoys exploring new places, watching musicals on the West End, and eating her way around London's culinary delights.
Review: this book was a bit of a slow starter for me, it took me a little while to get my head back into the characters and the storyline but once I got going, I thoroughly enjoyed being back with these characters and thought the storyline was jolly good fun! I really loved the things that went on over the course of this story, the wedding planning, the shop planning and Arielle's new and old friendships as well, I found myself swept along with what was going on in her life and compelled to keep on reading! This was also a book where as soon as I had finished it, I had to go back to the start and read the first couple of chapters again, just to tie it all back together-a definite sign of a good book-the last book I did that with was a Jenny Colgan novel!
I think I said in my review of Kept, the first book in this trilogy, that I didn't always like Arielle as a character because I found her frustrating in parts, but overall she is really endearing and I was pleased to see her grow and change even more over the course of this novel! I really like her relationship with Piers, even if I am a little jealous of it and I liked the new friendships and new enemies that she made in this novel. Essentially, she is someone who has quite a bit to learn about the world but her naivety also means that she really would do anything for anyone, a good friend to have around.
There are some fab scene to do with fashion and twitter in this book that were really enjoyable but I don't think were to girly to put of readers who may not like their storylines pink and frilly. There were also some fab wedding planning moments that I'm sure anyone who has planned a wedding before will recognise. Some parts of the story were very descriptive, especially bits to do with food whereas other parts moved a little quicker so this novel varied in pace over the entire storyline. I have to admit, I would have liked to have delved a little deeper into one or two scenes but it definitely didn't affect my enjoyment of the story too much!
There were some real laugh out loud moments in the book as well as some hold-your-breath moments where I feared for the worst. Although this book dose t have the neatest of endings. I really like te way that it ended and it definitely leaves itself open to the next book in the series which, thank goodness, is out later this year-I honestly can't wait to read to the conclusion to Arielle's adventures and to find out what happens with Piers, felicity, Ob and the gang! If you enjoyed reading Kept, you will enjoy this one even more, and if you're looking for a novel with laughs as well as something deeper, then you'll find it here, although in would definitely recommend reading these books in order, as close together as possible!
I was really hesitant to start Lost and actually put it off for a few weeks. However, this story was a hell of a lot more enticing. The distance from her husband, although for unfortunate reasons, means that Arielle finally looks inwardly and starts looking out towards her own future. No longer kept, there is a lot of growth in her character, her attitudes towards friends and family and her acumen as a business woman – despite a lot of mistakes. I really began to get on with Arielle throughout Lost. Her thoughts and actions become much more considered, and although she doesn’t always get it right, she finally becomes grounded in the real world. Again, she experiences many events that negatively impact her ability to move forward, but she always overcomes them and increasingly seeks to do this independently.
As she enters a world of tweets, blogs, pop-up shops and hard work, I really began to connect with her and couldn’t wait to finish the instalment. All I wanted to know is if everything works out for her, which is a huge leap forward from Kept, where I just wished she would receive some comeuppance. The plot is a lot deeper the second time round and also considerably slower, which makes Lost just so more enjoyable.
There is also a greater focus on the supporting characters. Ob, Arielle’s best friend, gives this chick lit some much needed humour. Finally, a completely lovable character who I really wish had ended up with Arielle. They seem to be the perfect balance for each other.
Arielle’s business partner, Felicity, also has a greater role to play throughout Lost. She quickly ages throughout this instalment and becomes victim to dementia. The way the author has embedded the illness into her narrative, giving fleeting glimpses of its effect is gentle, honest and extremely well executed.
Elle Field has also used Felicity’s character to enhance Arielle’s growth as a young woman. Where she begins in the first instalment only looking out for herself and for monetary gains, Arielle really becomes much more compassionate for others and loves Felicity as a member of her own family, prioritising her health and wanting to succeed just to make her proud.
For me, Lost really saves the Arielle Lockley series. Ending on a cliff-hanger of ill fate, I genuinely can’t wait to read the final instalment. I hope I get to read about the girl who has finally found herself. I’d like to thank Elle for sending me her books in exchange for an honest review.
Twenty-five-year old Arielle Lockley has finally managed to get to a point in her life where things seem to be going well on all fronts: together with her business partner Felicity she is busy finding a new location in London for their successful clothes shop, everything's going well with her family and friends, and she is planning her wedding to her lovely fiancé Piers. Everything just seems to have fallen into place and Arielle knows she has to embrace it for as long as it lasts. Which unfortunately isn't long. Arielle doesn't know what to do with the launch of the new store in London, Felicity is acting weird, and Piers seems to be under the weather just while they should be busy planning the details of their upcoming wedding... It doesn't take long before Arielle starts to feel quite lost, but what will it take for her to find her way back?
I'm really glad Elle Field decided to write a sequel to her debut novel 'Lost', because it was great to once again be back with main protagonist Arielle and her friends and family! Arielle went through a lot and really changed as a person in 'Kept', and it was great to see her doing her thing and trying to build up her and Felicity's business while also dealing with other things that are asking her attention, such as her upcoming wedding. Next to Arielle, there is a selection of great secondary characters, such as her fiance Piers, her business partner Felicity, and her friends Tabitha and Ob, who also all have their separate storylines with things they are dealing with.
Because there are many things happening in the novel, not just with Arielle but also with the other characters, I really enjoyed every second of reading this book and it managed to hold my attention from start to finish. I think I even enjoyed this book more than the first part of the series, it was just a really great read! The book ends with a big cliffhanger, and I already can't wait for the third part of the series, which will be released in 2016. I personally would recommend reading 'Kept' before picking up 'Lost', just so you know the background story and what happened to Arielle before this, but if you want to, this can also be read as a stand-alone. 'Lost' is a thoroughly enjoyable, fast-paced and fun chick lit read; the second part of a book series I'm quite excited about and I already can't wait for Elle Field's next release!
*Note* There may be spoilers from book one Kept (review here) - read on at your own peril...
Lost is the second in Elle Field's chick-lit series focusing on the life of fashion forward Arielle Lockley. In Kept we met Arielle and Piers as they fell in love and fought to stay together. We met their hilarious friends and family; Obelix 'Ob' will always be my favourite, although I'm still not sure exactly how to pronounce his name.
When we catch up with Arielle in Lost (remember it's Arielle, NOT Ariel! Any mention of mermaids will place you firmly in the doghouse) she's a very different character to the girl we met at the beginning of the first book, but in a good way. This Arielle is more mature and settled, yet she retains enough of her kookiness to still be the same girl who made me laugh so much the first time.
Arielle is stressed. Not only is she busy trying to expand the business with Felicity, which proves a huge challenge in itself, but she's also planning a wedding. This being Arielle, nothing goes as smoothly as it should. After only a few pages I was laughing at her antics and misfortune (I'm kind like that). In the shop hunting chapter I was almost screeching "don't do it".
I kept thinking surely she's going to realise certain things aren't what they seem. I wanted her to open her eyes, but her flighty obliviousness is what made her so amusing in Kept but it was interesting to see her trying to become more aware and mature now. A lot of the times, she definitely succeeds in her efforts, although there are of course, a few key moments when she really didn't notice something that I thought was really obvious.
Some of the story was sadder and more serious than I had expected, but I felt these moments made sense with the story. The characters are all maturing and so they deal with more mature issues.
I really enjoyed this instalment, although I wasn't expecting the ending and considered doing a Joey from F.R.I.E.N.D.S and putting my kindle in the freezer at one point. When I wrote my review for Kept it was probably one of the first chick-lit books I had really paid attention to. Now I read a lot more of this genre because I enjoy the drama chick-lit often provides.
4 Happy Stars in my Sky!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!
After the drama of Kept, we return to visit Arielle Lockley a few months on. She has managed to turn things around and everything seems to be going well for her. She is opening a new clothes shop in London with her partner Felicity and she is planning her wedding to her beloved fiance, Piers. Unfortunately, this sense of well-being does not last long and Arielle's life is, once more, turned upside down whilst dealing with fires, socialites, gas explosions, health problems, issues with friends etc.... Arielle begins to feel that life is getting away from her again.
At the begining of Kept, I was sure that I would not like the main protaganist, Arielle Lockley, as she seemed to be everything I deteste - rude, spoiled and ignorant.... However, she slowly but surely changed and flourished throughout that first book. I was therefore very happy to meet Arielle again in Lost and hear how everything had developed since we last saw her. She has really developed into a great character, full of enthusiasm, vision and kindness, if not slightly over-dramatic! She really jumps into everything feet first and thinks about the consequences later.
The supporting characters are also great to read. Piers - the sensible fiance, Felicity - the ditzy business partner, Tabitha - the friend and socialiate and, finally, Etta - the singer and rival for Felicity's affections.
Lost does not concentrate solely on one storyline, but includes a number of events involving the different characters making it an extremely enjoyable and interesting book to read. It ends on a fantastic cliffhanger which leaves you infuriated that the book is over and desperate to read book 3 (which I understand is due to be released later in 2015 - how exciting!!).
This is a fun and fast-paced chick lit novel, a fantastic read and I would thoroughly recommend it to any lovers of the chick lit genre. Lost is a standalone story, however I would recommned reading Kept - book 1 in the series - first, simply because it is great to follow Arielle's story through and to have some background knowledge of events preceding Lost.
This book captured my attention from start to finish and I honestly cannot wait to read more of Arielle Lockley's mishaps and adventures. Well done to the author, Elle Field, on the publication of another fantastic book!
Lost is the second book in the ‘Arielle Lockley’ series by Elle Field and in all honesty I was a little anxious about starting this one. I read Elle’s debut, Kept, and found it slightly hard to follow at times and really disliked the main character so I was worried I would feel the same whilst reading Lost but happily, I didn’t! It feels like Field’s writing style has matured and it feels far slicker and well-honed in this novel. There was less confusion on my part and I was drawn in a lot faster than I expected. Thankfully with the maturing of the writing style came the maturing of the protagonist and I was really pleased to see Arielle taking far more responsibility for her own actions and altogether being a better human being! It was a joy to be able to follow her story and instead of hoping for her downfall, I was cheering her on from the word go. The plot of Lost is one that has been well thought out and well executed with the reader in mind. I found myself racing to the conclusion of this novel only to find that it was left on a stonking cliff-hanger and has me desperate for the next book – which is what all good authors manage to do; have you so invested in the lives of the characters that you can’t wait to find out what happens to them next. There were a few small elements of the plot which I found a tad predictable but not at one point did this annoy me and in fact I loved seeing the way Elle dealt with the situations she threw at her characters. We are reintroduced to old characters including Arielle’s fiancée Piers and her best friend Ob, but we are also treated to a few new faces which shook things up and brought some lovely layers and conflict to the novel. I loved that Elle didn’t play it safe with this book – she touched on some serious topics but dealt with them sensibly and didn’t skirt around the seriousness of them. I really, really did enjoy this book and I am now pretty damn excited to see what comes next in the third book in the series called Found. I imagine you could probably read this book as a standalone as it doesn’t require all that much knowledge of what happened before but I would suggest for continuity and full understanding that you should read Kept before you read this one!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the author for providing me with an advanced reader copy of her work. “Lost” is the sequel in the “Arielle Lockley Series” and is picking up from where “Kept” left off with Arielle being busy moving her business to London and planning a wedding.
The truth is, although I enjoyed resuming reading about Arielle’s adventures, I did not like this installment as much as I did “Kept” and here are my reasons: The main event in the book centres around Arielle’s setting up a 2 day pop-up shop event, signalling Arielle as a fashion newcomer on the London scene and a contender to watch out for.
The concept of the Pop-up introduced in the novel was absolutely brilliant and daring, and although in reality, I imagine that a lot of work would be involved to make an event of that magnitude a success, I did feel that it did not translate very well in the book. I do however admire the author’s attempt to write it in. Unfortunately, the build-up and preparation of the event was heavily present throughout the book and ultimately drowned out other areas and voices of interest, such as Piers and Ob who were more present in “Kept” but were more peripheral characters in this sequel.
On a positive note however, I really enjoyed seeing Arielle growing and coming into her own, as well as seeing her budding friendship with Tabitha evolve. It was also nice to see her making mistakes and learning from them as it shows her as a character we can all easily relate to. She went from doing absolutely nothing to learn how to style, Tweet and Blog to manage her own business, and although Lost is a work of fiction, Arielle is a character realistic enough that young women can aspire to.
My 3* rating reflects my preference for the first installment as well as my personal views and should in no way be taken as a deterrent to pick up this novel, as I do feel it is a necessary stop on the way to read the upcoming “Found” later this year and I do recommend it.
When I saw the opportunity to review one of Elle Field’s books I ran for it. I’ve seen and encountered Elle Field a number of times on Twitter and have huge admiration for both her work ethic and writing advice. This, coupled with all the gushing about her books, and the fact that I have B-side sitting on my Kindle, pushed me forward. This is book 2 of the Arielle Lockley series. I read it as a standalone and it worked well as such.
We begin this book with a prologue from Obelix, who turns out to be our lead, Arielle Lockley’s best friend. Our insight into him is that he is a nice, easy-going, slightly awkward vet, who hasn’t had any luck in the girl department and also who is gearing up for his best friend’s wedding, hoping not to let her down.We then move over to Arielle, going back in time by four months, when she is looking for the perfect premises for her new business, a boutique. We get insights into her business partner and friend, an elderly lady named Felicity and I was pulled along with Arielle, as she tried to deal with the many interruptions, events and crises thrown at her. And there were quite a few. I really enjoyed said crises, thrown in when you least expected them. I really warmed to Arielle, although she was perhaps a little over dramatic in places, as were many of the characters. There were some nice hints thrown in as to what might happen in the next book of the series and we were left on a great cliffhanger. All in all a really enjoyable book and, given the ending I will most definitely continue to follow the series (Found is out now).
Thanks to Samantha March from Chick Lit Plus for the book in return for an honest review.
Lost is the second book in the Arielle Lockley series however I wouldn't say you had to necessarily read Kept first. However I am sure after reading Lost you will want to see how everything began. It really is worth following Arielle on her journey right from the beginning.
Arielle is a very interesting character she can be strong at times but also a little unsure. It was good to see her make mistakes but to also see her mature and to take ownership of any mistakes she did make. It was great to catch up with all of the characters from Kept. I am still a big fan of Ob and I loved the addition of Tabitha as a more involved character.
The story moved at a brisk pace and I found myself near the end of the book in no time. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between Arielle and all of the characters. I have to admit I may have enjoyed Lost slightly more than Kept. However I think this is mainly because I knew the characters and it was like catching up with old friends. All I can say about the ending is wow, I have to read the next book asap!
Overall:
The Arielle Lockley series just gets better and better!
Lost is entertaining and witty with some great characters.
Five stars from me!
Thank you to Elle Field who kindly sent me a copy to read and review. This is my honest opinion.
I began reading this book almost directly after finishing ‘Kept’ the first in the series .. I’m glad I went straight into it because it was like meeting a friend for coffee & catching up on gossip .. Arielle is back & I was pleased to see her. The story continues with the majority of the same cast .. I don’t want to give any spoilers so won’t go into what happens but my original impression of Piers has improved.
Arielle lives life to the full, lovely to see a cat has made an appearance & the mention of ‘Malory Towers’ made me smile (my favourite books as a kid) there was a lot more depth this time & some of it kept me on the edge of my seat & quite honestly the outcome of that particular part wasn’t what I expected .. sign of good writing because I was convinced I knew where it was going!
There is a lot of love, some sadness plenty of drama & the epilogue has me longing for the next book .. I can’t wait to see what is happening next! A fabulous book which I enjoyed even more than the first .. thanks to Elle for gifting this to me in exchange for my honest opinion.
As I already knew the characters from Kept I found this book easier to get into. I loved Obelix's character and his peculiar behaviour at the beginning intrigued me, even though I did have my suspicions as to why he was acting so strange.
Felicity was someone who I couldn't quite figure out in book one and, although I was pleased to find out more about her, I felt sad about what it was revealing.
There were a few times that Arielle seemed to revert to her previous (not-so-likeable) self and even though the reason for this was explained, I just wasn't keen on that side of her.
As I progressed through the storyline I became increasingly concerned that something bad was just around the corner. Unexpectedly all the drama happened around the same time and then left me on a teasing cliffhanger with so many questions lingering in my mind.
This was an enjoyable read, containing more complications for Arielle to handle and with a little more emotion than the first book.
I read Lost straight after reading kept as even though Lost can be read as a standalone novel i like to get the characters and the background right from the start.
In Kept i did not like Arielle at the start but i liked how Elle developed her character into a much nicer person and im glad this is how she remains in lost but she still jumps on first and thinks later.
There is lot of events happening in this book so story is not just based on one event and i liked this it kept my attention and was very enjoyable read.
Be prepared the book does end with a cliffhanger making way for the third in the series which comes out later this year
Lost is fun, enjoyable and a light read its perfect chick lit and anyone liking this genre will love lost.
Would like to thank Elle for letting me be part of the blog tour and fingers crossed will be part of book 3 tour.
*Book provided by the author in exchange for an honest review* This is Book #2 in The Arielle Lockley series and though you don't have to read book #1 first, I would recommend it so you know who everyone is. This is a cute and funny chick lit book if you are looking for a fun & lighthearted read, this would be a good book for you. I'm glad everything seems to be working out for the better in this book. Arielle and Piers seemed to have worked out most of their problems. I would love to read the next book in the series to find out what else happens in Arielle's life.
This is one of those chick lit series that hooks you in and makes you care about the characters. Arielle has matured since book 1 and I felt myself rooting for her even more in book 2. I also love all the fashion references and flashes of humour. If you want a read that's funny, sensitive, fresh and compelling, then this is the series for you. Looking forward to book 3!
There were times when I got a bit irritated with Piers Bramley with his whole 'I'm fine' spiel he had going. I found the cat absolutely adorable as well, and have definitely got to find out what happens in the next book since it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. I got a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Talk about a cliffhanger!! I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. Smooth, easy to follow writing. Very entertaining. I find it interesting to read books written by foreign authors and to compare our lives to what happens in their country. A fun and quick weekend read!

I found the second book of the Arielle Lockley series to be just as fluffy and cute as the first. Don't read this for deep literature, but if you'd like something quick and fun, this is your book. The ending has me anxiously awaiting the final book of the series.
When Elle got in touch with me to ask if I would take a look at her new book Lost, I was more than happy to do so. Lost is book two in the Arielle Lockley series. I read book one Kept last year and found it rather hilarious. So of course I was excited to find out what had been going on with heroine Arielle and fiancé Piers. And her friends eccentric Felicity, and bad boy Ob.
I really can't be anything but honest here and that's not something I want to be doing right now believe me. I really didn't like Lost. It took me over four days to read and I found it to be one dimensional, disjointed, and not very interesting. It felt far too clothes oriented, and the only descriptions given were of clothes people were wearing, or what Arielle had on. Descriptions of people, places, things that you need when reading to give you an insight into the world you're trying to delve into and understand were seriously missing.
I absolutely hated Arielle this time around. She seriously irritated me. So much for a reformed character, she is self-obsessed, snooty, and pathetic. I had no time for her at all.
The plot took far to long too get going, well over 50% in fact. Meaning it was very heavy and then far too much all at once.
As for the ending which is supposed to be a cliff hanger that makes you want to weep in frustration that you don't get to see what happens next. Unfortunately it just made me want to weep with relief that I'd finally finished reading it. And, that I honestly couldn't care what happens next. I know I'm a bitch, I'm sorry. Well I'm not because if I lied and told you I loved it, then I'd be a horrible, untrustworthy bitch wouldn't I?
I really just didn't like it. I hate that I didn't. I really do. I'm really sorry Elle.
Please remember we all have different opinions. Go buy Kept and Lost and see for yourselves, you might absolutely love them both.
I did not go into reading this book like it was a book two of a series that I have not officially started until I got to book two, but anyway. I had some laughs, tears, jeers, and even a few moments when I wanted to slap a person. There are some that I like, some that I am not sure about, some that I can do with out and then there are the ones that I want to smack.
Arielle seems to have her hands full and then some. She was a young woman on the move with lots to do and limited to get things all done. So of course there was that one person that had to stand in the way and make things more difficult than they needed to be. I found that Arielle was smart, strong, independent, and a real person. And you know with being a real person life hands you a lot of obstacles. I believe that Arielle found a real friend in Felicity.
I got me a true women’s fiction read. There are things that bring life to you on a level that you may not want to see or accept. I can see some growth in Arielle from the beginning of the book to the end. Where of course I was left hanging. I wanted to have some answers. I guess that means move on to book three, but first I want to see where it all began for Arielle. Back to book one. **This eBook was provided by CLP Book Tours the author in exchange for an honest review.**
If you are a fan of chick lit, this book is for you. It has it all- fast paced, quirky but lovable characters, love, ambition and a little suspense. I did not read the first book of this series so I have to be honest, I was a tad confused in the beginning who everyone was. I don't think I could truly appreciate the relationship between Arielle and her fiance Piers until 1/3 though the book and even then I was a little unsure why she was with him. That being said, I thought Arielle was a hoot to read and I loved the adventures with her business and the heartfelt relationship with Felicity (which I also didn't totally connect with not reading the first book). Like it states, you could totally read this as a stand alone book but I suggest you get the first one before diving into this. Its a fun, fast read and I am really looking forward to reading the final book in the series when it's released. I was provided with a complimentary e-copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review.
Lost is Book 2 in the Arielle Lockely series, story of Arielly Lockley's adventures in London and business. I wasn't completely convinced of the story, though I haven't read Book 1, but I get a fair idea of who Arielle is. To me she seemed flaky and if she has substance it didn't show through all the Brands name dropping and air headed decisions she kept making. What nagged at me is how clueless she was about people around her untill the disasters were screaming to be noticed. She showed a hint of emotions towards the end of the story, but to me she was more complacent then action oriented. Maybe she just liked being a fiance of a rich man and part time stylist.
I loved Elle's Geli Voyante but Arielle just didn't cut it for me :(
