Briar Coven #3

Accidentally Employed an Incubus

Rate this book
Caitlyn Myers is determined to make a living from her magic candy—just as soon as she perfects the recipes. Unfortunately, her childhood bully, Priscilla Raisin, seems equally determined to steal them right out from under her nose.
In a desperate bid for peace, Caitlyn packs up her cauldrons and rents an isolated field far from Priscilla’s prying eyes, hoping the quiet will finally help her focus. That’s assuming her sentient magical house, who appears to actively dislike her, will agree to the move. And just in case Priscilla manages to track her down, Caitlyn hires security from the elusive—and inexplicably affordable—Shadowbound Security.

Run by a pair of incubi, Blaise and Ambrose, Shadowbound Security isn’t what it used to be. Once known for taking the most dangerous, thrill-seeking jobs, the firm has been limping along ever since the vampire attack that nearly killed Blaise.

Worse, in the aftermath of the attack, the two best friends crossed a line neither of them knows how to uncross… and now they’re both pretending nothing ever happened.

They’re playing it safe.
Separate jobs.
No risks.
No feelings.

Blaise is assigned to protect a candy-making witch from a coven-mate determined to steal her recipes. Ambrose takes on a job involving a troublesome hob. And after yet another Samhain summoning without either of them being claimed by their fated mates, it seems they have one more year to untangle this mess.

They just have to survive their dull contracts first.

Accidentally Employed an Incubus is book three in an interconnected trilogy, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone with its own complete story and satisfying happily ever after.

This is a cozy paranormal MMF romance featuring plenty of humor, cauldrons’ worth of simmering tension, a sentient house with a fondness for pranks, two incubi deep in emotional denial, and a slightly manic witch. While the story is firmly rooted in the cozy paranormal romance genre, it does touch on some heavier themes. Readers are encouraged to check the content warnings before diving in.

Sweet, chaotic, and just a little sinful
This book is like biting into a piece of enchanted candy and realizing there’s a kick of something much stronger hidden inside 🍬✨
Accidentally Employed an Incubus delivers a super fun mix of cozy chaos, magic, and slow-burn tension that kept me hooked. Caitlyn is an easy FMC to root for—determined, a little frazzled, and just trying to build her candy empire while everything (including her own house 😅) seems to work against her. The sentient house honestly deserves its own fan club.
The dynamic between Blaise and Ambrose? Messy in the best way. There’s history, tension, and that delicious “we’re absolutely not talking about what happened” energy simmering under every interaction. Add in the incubus charm and emotional avoidance, and it’s a recipe for drama I happily devoured.
I also loved the quirky world-building—magical candy, petty rivalries, chaotic side jobs—it all felt whimsical without losing the emotional stakes. That said, the pacing dipped a bit in places, and I found myself wanting just a little more depth in certain moments, especially when it came to the relationships fully unpacking their feelings.
Overall, this was a fun, cozy paranormal romance with bite, heart, and just enough angst to keep things interesting. I’ll definitely be back for more from this world.

4.25 stars. This story is triple POV, well written and edited, and a sweet and steamy, fated mates, contemporary fantasy ménage a trois romance between Caitlyn, the female neurodiverse-coded witch lead, Blaise, the neurodiverse-coded male incubus private protection lead, and his best friend and business partner, Ambrose, a second male incubus lead. I empathised with the historical trauma all leads were carrying, and for the current trauma inflicted on Ambrose by the antagonist. I enjoyed Caitlyn’s enthusiasm for her career goals and appreciated that she’d wanted to be established before connecting with her fated mate. I enjoyed Blaise’s high intensity engagement with the world, and his willingness to be vulnerable. I enjoyed Ambrose’s focus and commitment and the effort he put in to his partner(s). I enjoyed the building relationship, including the steamy intimate scenes. I was less fond of the amount of time Ambrose spent away from the others. I enjoyed the happy ending for protagonists, including the sentient house, and the justice provided to the antagonist.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Details?
This is a MMF book.
The FMC’s name is Caitlyn, and she is 28 years old.
The one MMC’s name is Ambrose, and the other MMC’s name is Blaise.
None of them are virgins. They all need to feed on sexual energy, but Caitlyn is not reliant on the sexual energy as her only way to sustain herself.
Caitlyn usually seeks out partners in the city when she is feeling creatively stuck.
Ambrose and Blaise have always fed together, going for women but they did not interact during these hook ups.
Six months ago Blaise was almost fatally injured during a job, and it snapped something in Ambrose’s mind. When they got back to the house they ended up spending all night together in bed. They both freaked out the next morning, did not discuss their feelings in any way, and have been acting off with each other for the last 6 months.
Caitlyn had not summoned her mate because she wanted to make a life for them, and feel more well rounded.

My thoughts?
I have loved the past two books in this series but there was something about this one that it took me a bit to get into it. I totally understood that Caitlyn wanted to make a life for her and her mate even if she hadn’t met him yet.
My issue(s) was with Ambrose and Blaise. Obviously they had no way to peek into coven life and figure out what exactly was going on or who their mates would be. Yet, with not admitting to themselves how they felt it created this ball of angst throughout the book. They’re emotionally constipated. Caitlyn took Blaise’s hesitance so well, and she was so patient with him.
You know what, Creep was emotionally constipated too. Yet she was a highlight of this book for me. Creep is a porcelain doll that is animated by the magically possessed houses the coven has. Some have forms that they take on, while others (like Creep) have a doll body they possess. Funnily enough I have a few in my home, so I had my fair share on inspiration of just how creepy I could conjure up for Creep. I found it hilarious how stubborn both Caitlyn and Creep were, and how they had not budged in the 10 years they had been together.
Overall I love how to story wove together. I was definitely entertained and wanted to keep on reading, but I found there were too many things I wasn’t happy with to give it 5 stars.

“Fate is a funny thing,” she said. “You can either go against it or trust that it ultimately knows what it’s doing.”

Let's begin with how much I love this series. From the book 1, I knew this was my type of read. I'm not much of a spice reader (and these books have a lot of it), but I love them because of the beautiful love story behind them.

And this one has a plus: it shows a polyamorous relationship, something that I defitnely hadn't read before. And honestly, it was super well addressed. I loved how the writer just makes every single bit of this plot makes sense withing the excellent characters she has built.

Caitlyn needs a magic bodyguard to protect her against a recipe-thief (she works with magic candy) and hires an incubi demon for the job. When Blaise arrives to take the job, Caitlyn knows that he is her fated mate, the same she has avoided to summon for too many years, not because she didn't want him but because she wanted to be settle for being able to take him in with stability.

"Another year without my sex-demon fated mate. All because I needed to concentrate on these damn magicked candies, establish my business, make lots of money, and have a perfect life to summon him into".

But there is a catch. Because of so many years withoun being summoned, Blaise has developed feeling for his roommate-job associate- best friend incubi demon, Ambrose, who hasn't been summoned either. Blaise has a hard time feeling guilt over those feeling, because although he is thrilled by the idea of having his mate with him, he cannont help those other feelings, specially cuz he has felt rejected the entire time he's been in love with Ambrose. (But Ambrose loves him too, let's talk about lack of communications *and this is not spoiler because it's obvious from page 1*)

"My fated mate. The witch I was meant to build a life with. The witch who was adorable, and clever, and funny— someone I already knew I could fall in love with far too easily— asking me to describe the man who had already claimed a piece of my heart".

But anyway, plot aside, I LOVE the way the author writes. I love how profound but funny but to the point and magic these pages feel. I love the worldbuilding. I love the fact that the witches in this universe have a sentient house with such strong personalities. In this book, the house is called Creep and I adore it. I love how it is protective at the same time that seems like it wants to murder you. Is such a good detail, I'm fascinated.

On the other hand, the romance itself is very well written. I totally bought it and I felt their emotions in a very "human" and raw way. They are very passionate, empathic, with emotional inteligence and the bonds they have with one another is very natural and pretty.

I'm a sucker for relationships that make me smile, blush and suffer with them, and this book (and all of them in the series) have that.

The only downside is that I, personally, felt this book a little short. Maybe some things, especially the climax of the story, could have been a little bit more developed, because the Isadora and Priscilla's arc was very interesting but only lasted a couple of chapters. I feel like there was a lot of things that could have happened but ultimately the story was fully focus on the romance.

Last but not least, I COMPLETELY LOVE when the different characters from different books in a same series come together, even if is just for a small bit of the story, and Belle Blakley gave me that and completely ate. I was beyond excited when these characters interact, so when I finished the book, I rest with a smiley goofy face in me.

"The next hour passed in a haze of overlapping stories, disbelief, and laughter as we pieced together how all of us— against all odds— had accidentally stumbled directly into the arms of our respective mates".

I'm so happy to have stumble up with this author. I will read anything that might come from her imagination. (And thank you BookSirens for the ARC).

I am OBSESSED! Absolutely OBSESSED! This book, and the world that Belle Blakley has created has my heart! This is book three in a standalone series, I have to be honest and say I have not read the first two yet, but they have been bumped to the top spots in my TBR list, I can't let this world go! I read this whole book in a day, could NOT put it down.

The FMC, was so lovable and relatable; the perfect amount of quirky and funny. I found her perspectives so easy to understand, and thoroughly enjoyed her relationships with the characters around her. The MMC's were (as expected) absolute angels, super cute, super hot and steamy when it mattered. I do love MMF relationships, and this one was no exception. Even the antagonists in the story were super deep and well thought out, I just love the depth that Belle has put into her world and her characters. I do need to talk about the (amazing!) elephant in the room - Creep. MY DARLING. She is everything. Her interactions with the other characters are so well written and thought out, and she is the perfect touch to this story. There isn't a character in this story that I didn't love. There is literally a plant character. A PLANT. And I love that plant SO much. The author has made me love a PLANT!

I am normally used to reading large epic fantasy series; even some of those struggle with world building despite being 1000's of pages. In this book, despite being around 300 pages, the world building was still amazingly stellar. As stated, this is book 3 in a standalone series, and even not having read the first two, I was still able to be completely sucked in to this magical story.

Overall, absolute 10/10. I will be reading and reviewing the first two ASAP, because I NEED more of this world. This is the perfect read for someone into fun and quirky fantasy, with lovable characters, a super cool magic system and world, and some really well written spice to top off some incredible romance and relationship building.

I will say that I received an advance review copy for free, but I am leaving this review voluntarily - this book was phenomenal.

Sweet, spicy, and a little chaotic.

Caitlin, chaotic and hilarious, and her sentient house, Creep, pack up to work on Caitlin’s passion, magical candy, away from her coven and the nosy Priscilla. Unbeknownst to her, the security firm she’s hired to help keep Priscilla away from her recipes is run by two incubi, Blaise and Ambrose, from the clan that her coven finds their fated mates in. When Blaise turns up while Ambrose is providing security to a witch being harassed by a brownie (it’s relevant, I promise) Caitlin finds her mate, and when Ambrose arrives on their doorstep, she finds another one.

This was a slow burn, at times heart wrenching read. The repression of feelings, the tension, the terrifying yet adorable Victorian doll that Creep manifests as, are all indispensable pieces of this fun, cosy read. This is the third book in the Briar Coven series and Catlin, messy and often relatable, was just as engaging as previous FMCs, Lex and Jen, without feeling repetitive. The conflicts in the story weren’t confined to the romantic relationships which kept me engaged on more than one front, at one point I was more invested in the relationship between Caitlin and Creep. The secondary plot threw me at first, but it fit seamlessly into the narrative once you push past the initial confusion. I will never doubt Belle Blakley again. I also loved the references to other stories and cameos from characters that appeared in the previous two books. Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read with a sweet and spicy HEA.

This story is a great addition to the series. The 3 books overlap - all center around the same summoning/ or the one they skip and find their mates anyways.

At first, I was a little confused at all the names Caitlyn was throwing around as we got into the story. I had to go back to double check who were the main characters in the last books (Lex and Jen) to make sure I remembered who we met already. A lot of them we did not. I was trying to make connections, and could relax and just enjoy after that.

I'll admit I was a little angry when found out Ambrose was in love with Isadora. This one definitely plays the long game with pulling the pieces together, but it is expertly done and pays off big at the end. I adored the recap we get as they have to explain what happened to the authorities.

My heart cracked as we learn Priscilla's backstory and who Purdy is. I am curious about her happy ending along with Billy's. Maybe more stories to come in this world?

I loved how the house assisted with solving their problem. Chef's kiss. (not going to say more to not spoil the moment, but the dialogue after was 5 stars.) Creep is a star and she takes no crap from anyone. Think I would be sleeping with one eye open in that house.

Story was a page turner that had me wondering how it was all going to work out.

ACCIDENTALLY EMPLOYED AN INCUBUS is the third and final book in the Briar Coven trilogy. While officially "reading prior books is recommended, but not required," I would recommend that you do read the others. The timelines overlap, and all the characters are mentioned in each other's books.

It takes a while to lay the groundwork for this story, leaving the reader with two or three separate storylines to follow (depending on which chapter they're on). Blaise and Ambrose are roommates first, then more, then not. Blaise and Caitlyn find each other, followed by Ambrose finding them both. Then, we also have an old nemesis, plus her daughter, causing trouble.

There is a lot that goes on, but it's completely worth it. Creep isn't as cute as BooDini or House (hence the name), but it all becomes clear in the end. I love her attitude, too!

I would love an extra book to be added to this, showing Jen, Lex, and Caitlyn with their mates. Actually, I want more than that. I want Jake and Billy to have their story, and now I really, REALLY, need Priscilla's. She has a great story arc!!!

A fantastic addition to the series that I thoroughly enjoyed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me. 4.5 rounded up.

** Same worded review will appear elsewhere. **

Accidentally Employed an Incubus

This is one of the best monster stories that I have read this year, probably much longer. Belle Blakely has created such a clever world that I was kind of loathe to leave it. I started the prior book right after this one.

That said, this book has a candy obsessed young witch, and a pair of incubi providing body guard security as they wait for their fated mates. In this world, generations ago, witches from the Briar Coven made a pact with a clan of incubi, to summon fated mates from the clan on Samhain. Caitlyn has yet to summon her mate. She hires a particularly cheap body guard to protect her as she invents magic candies. Throw in a sentient house, a sentient evil baby doll, a childhood bully, and more. There is so much humor.

Too, there is trauma, that have made Blaise and Ambrose, the inexplicably cheap security incubi, tense and withdrawn from each other. They pass a Samhain waiting to be summoned. As they are not this year, Ambrose takes another job, the same time Blaise takes on Caitlyn and the candy making. Much is revealed as they work on each of their assignments, apart rather the together.

The story has much humor and healing. Also, as there are incubi, the steam is hot, hot, hot. At least four chili peppers. Because there is also a main character of color, the rating is bumped to five stars. This book was so enjoyable.

I've really enjoyed Belle Blakely 's series so far. When it comes to fated mates it can be hard to not feel repetitive but she has made each book feel different. This might be my favourite so far! Caitlyn, the candy witch with the creepy house, needs to brew her candies in a secret spot so her nemesis doesn't steal her recipes. In addition she needed a bodyguard just on case. Also her bodyguard is actually 1 of a pair and it's a bit complicated because these two incubi have a past. Blaise and Ambrose are best friends and maybe more…? Then things got awkward. I was also worried because things got a bit dark with the jobs but Belle Blakely manages to keep it balanced enough to make the stakes a bit higher, draw out some empathy for other characters and keep you interested in what will happen. I love the unique dynamic of all of them but also with the house itself. I was definitely creeped out by Creep, especially imagining her turning her head and other actions, but it was such a funny relationship they had with her, which brought about good levity to balance out the characters' feelings and also the plot. Also, these peeps get so spicy. I love MMF because it makes the dynamic more exciting, and their love just radiates. Side note: I also loved the first paragraph of her acknowledgements!!

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:

Story - ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Spice - 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Narration - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Accidentally Employed an Incubus is book #3 in the magical paranormal series Briar Coven. This series was a big part of my newly found love for all things paranormal and romantasy. Caitlyn is a member of the Briar Coven of witches, makes magical candy that she is trying to perfect, has no time for finding her fated mate, and skips the annual Samhain (summoning of incubus fated mated). Blaise is an incubus and part of a struggling security detail along with his friend, Ambrose. These two have a complicated history filled with denial, do not take jobs together anymore, but end up in each others orbit all the same. All this angsty goodness and a house called Creep that has a mind (and temper) of it's own had me binging this until early morning! This is a three-way POV, why choose, MMF romance and couldn't be more delicious. It's cute, humorous, spicy, and probably my favorite of the series so far. And I've loved the whole series!

The multicast narration is fantastic! Bridget and Jake Bordeaux (Caitlyn and Blaise), along with Daryl Mayfield (Ambrose) made this one of the best listens I've had this year. I'm a big fan of the Bordeaux duo and the new-to-me Mr. Mayfield will have me looking for more of his work. LOVED this trio!! 5/5 stars 🌟

So glad to get to read the conclusion of the Briar Coven series, since this extended family of Incubus Demons and part-Succubus Witches stole my heart in book one! For people who might be put off by hobs, flesh-eating plants, taxidermy, mind control, or creepy animated dolls: This book’s content warning at the beginning doesn’t spell out the presence of these, and I felt it should because of how central to the story they are. I know too many people who are truly terrified by these.

It was worth the wait to fall in love with Ambrose, Blaise, and Caitlyn. Perhaps it was because I adored the characters so much that I was disappointed the book took so long to reach the final act and their HEA. I would’ve liked to have spent a lot more time with our demons and witch before the book, and the series, concluded. Some earlier parts dragged, but once we got to the good stuff, it felt like it went by too fast and ended far too soon. This felt different than books one and two, which gave us more time to witness romance develop and mature. Yes, our main characters go through a lot, but I wish they went through more of it as a throuple — instead of spending so much time apart.

Once our main characters do get together, it’s “full steam ahead” on the “adult bedroom times” 😉 and I’m sure I will not be the only one who loves how these characters love each other. If you’re already a Belle Blakley fan, then you know her books are not closed-door! I like how the intimate scenes in this book fit the characters rather than being carbon copies of those in her other books. That some romance authors cannot creatively portray [and differentiate the] intimacy book-to-book irks me to no end. Brownie points for Blakley!

Gods, how I wish we could have a whole extra book of the story of Ambrose, Blaise, Caitlyn, Lex, Lochran, Jen, and Devlin [hopefully] living together in their odd sentient houses in Briar Coven and getting into crazy adventures as a merry band of seven souls!

Shout out to Priscilla Raisin for almost stealing the show with her character arc. IYKYK.

This was everything I've come to expect from a Briar Coven book!!
I would definitley recommend delving into the first two books before you pick this one up as it will definitley help keeping the story clear.

Sweet, spicy and plot driven, this third installment of the series was cozy and romantic in all the right ways.

I loved Caitlyn's confidence and funky style.
She was sweet and kind and willing to change when the circumstances required it.

Blaise and Ambrose were the sweetest Incubus duo.
Their relationship was lovely to watch develop, grow and encompass Caitlyn without hesitation.

Creep the sentient house was also a delight!
I do love a magical, sentient house that plays out with main character energy!

As per usual, the mystery was 🤌 and had me gasping aloud in surprise a few times.

Low level angst, comfy and cozy, I really enjoyed Blakley’s foray into an MMF dynamic.
Not something everyone can always traverse with success, but I think she nailed it.

Overall, this was a lovely springtime read and the whole series is just a delightful cozy romp.

I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Ok, so I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never been a fan of MMF. I was always ok with a reverse harem but crossing swords was just never for me. But somehow, I liked it in this one. Maybe because in the past books I’d read they had scenes of the guys by themselves without the FMC so that was why it wasn’t for me? Either way, whatever you did here worked!

Ok now for the bits that may contain spoilers…

I did NOT expect to end up liking Priscilla! I’d been hating her and her mother for this whole series and come to find out she was a victim of her mother as well?! Color me surprised. This was really well written. And even tho the cover should have tipped me off of her having 2 mates, somehow I still didn’t see it coming. 😅 The action kept me on my toes the whole time and the spice was the perfect cherry on top. I guess the only thing I was left wondering was, is Creep going to remain with the house (I’m guessing she has to kinda like Boodini does) or will she go to live with Priscilla? Or will Priscilla just come to visit often? Ugh this book was too cute and hot all at the same time.

This was a cute, spicy paranormal romance. While I have not read books 1 and 2 of this series, I was able to easily follow along. Some of the names and how they are associated messed me up, but for the most part everything was explained or recapped from the previous books.

Fated mates, a creepy doll (!!) housekeeper, secrets revealed, sentient houses, found family, succubus x incubus romance, magic, cooking, magical garden - just enough of everything.

I was not a fan of the Isadora/Priscilla storyline- but it did end satisfyingly. I was nervous that Creep would become the annoying character and I gladly (and surprisingly) never felt that. I've read plenty of books where the supposedly charming child character overtakes the enjoyable parts of the storyline. Creep was placed perfectly.

The conclusion sort of left an opening for another book, but for the most part everything was the Super Happy Ending.

Thank you to BookSirens and the author for a copy of this book.

4.5 rounded up to 5.

This is the final book in the Briar Coven series, and it was a good one! The timelines overlap with the first 2 books, so while it isn't necessary to read the first 2 books, I would recommend it. I love this little magical town, and was so happy to be able to go back for another book. I love the characters, and the spice is definitely there! The story really has some twists and turns, and how the characters come together by the end was very well done.

Caitlyn is just trying to get her life in a good place before she summons her incubus mate. Blaise and Ambrose are trying to ignore the feelings that have been growing for each other. Fate has other plans for all of them, throwing everyone together when Caitlyn hires their security firm to protect her and her sentient house while she perfects her candy recipes.

I liked that we finally got a glimpse into Priscilla's life as well, and saw a bit of a redemption arc for her, and I hope we get to see her story, as well as Billy's, one day.

Caitlyn is a witch from the Briar coven so she knows she has an incubus waiting for her to summon him, but she thinks she needs to have her life organized before doing it.

She has her own sentient house but the only problem is that said house is "in love" with her bully so if she says anything bad about said witch, Creep, that house manifestation will prank her with spiders or cutting her hair while sleeping.

So she decides to chance the scenery to try to find the right recipes for her candies, and to do so she hires some security.

And what would b the odds that she would hire just her fated mate Blaise, a hot golden retriever incubus who is secretly in love with his best friend Ambrose.

There will be some hilarious moments including some with Creep and a carnivore plant, and the major plot twist that Caityn is one lucky witch because she has 2 fated mates!

I love all the sentient houses in this series and can't wait to read about the only warlock in the coven.

This was adorable! It had what all books in this series had; a short but sweet love story, spicey-spice, and a …. creepy doll?

This was overall super cute, but I really wish it were longer. The characters are so fun, I just wanted more screen time with them. Especially since there were two love interests. Blaise and Caitlyn really got all the spotlight, leaving Ambrose to survive on scraps. I really feel like there was the potential to dive deeper into the relationships between characters and even into the plot, which was really interesting. I would’ve loved to see a deeper delve with such rich plot points and personalities to pull from.

Otherwise this book delivered what I expected from this author; a cute love story with cute, funny, loveable characters that were easy to become attached to and root for.

I’d like to thank the author for the opportunity to read the free advanced copy and leave an honest review!

This is a different storyline than I am used to. I would read the warnings before deciding to read the book. It also involves MMF so if that isn't your thing I would skip the book. It was well written. There was spicy steam to the romance. With not one but two incubi being her mate I would expect nothing less.

I liked all of the characters. Caitlyn, Blaise and Ambrose. Each was well described. The world building was very good. I liked the twists, most I did not see coming. And what can I say about the house and Creep. You gotta love them too. They seem to grow on you. And then there's Mordi .

Priscilla , was a pleasant surprise. I guess you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover with her.

POV of each. Pleasant surprises. A splash of humor . This could be read as a standalone but it is interconnected to the two previous stories.

The way I devoured this one and cried, too 😭
Because there were some things in the book I wish ended up differently I couldn’t with my full heart give this 5 stars but it was really close.

The story of Creep and Pricilla was out of left field and I loved it so much. I honestly wished it was Creep and Pricilla who saved the day in the end not just Creep considering that Pricilla help a lot in Ambrose’s chapters.

The thing about MMF is that if you’re going to have MM relationship first and introduce the F, I’m always hoping that one M doesn’t get more relationship with F than the other M. In this case, I feel like I got no Ambrose only Blaise with that connection to Caitlyn and that made me sad. It felt a little unbalanced to me.

The way that each book in this series interconnected in terms of timeline was not my favorite. I thought Caitlyn’s story should have happened AFTER Jen’s, and Jen’s after Lex’s but it seemed like it was written to happen all at the same time. Wasn’t a fan of that because I like things to progress.

Now we wait for Billy’s book? 🤞🏽

Accidentally Employed an Incubus ends the Briar Coven trilogy with a bang. And Caitlyn, Blaise and Ambrose finally get their own HEA.

All 3 have spent years not ready for the fated mate summoning. They all want to get their lives together to provide the best possible life for their future mate, but fate always gets its way. 😂

Caitlyn's magic house reminds me so much of the Addams Family house. It's Creepy, kooky and altogether spooky, with a sentient doll and a giant carnivorous plant, who has a similar relationship with Caitlyn that Cleopatra has with Morticia. ❤️

There's a bit of angst before all 3 mates finally realize that they're all mates. And the problem with the exiled witch who wants to steal Caitlyn's house. But the conclusions to both those issues are very satisfying. 😉

Thank you Booksirens and Belle Blakley for the opportunity to advance read.

Ahhhhh to be back in Briar Coven! I love Belle’s cozy paranormal books and this is no exception.

I’ve been dying for another story of perfectly tailored incubus/witch matches and sentient houses.

This book in particular started off with a jump scare in the form of Creep, a Victorian doll animated by the sentient gothic home in the Briar Coven. At first, I was terrified to read about a sentient doll running around pranking the main characters, but I ended up loving her.

Belle’s latest book celebrates the different forms of love and overcoming hatred, evil, and social norms. A HEA as always and very cozy to read in one weekend.

I can’t wait to read the next Briar Coven addition, but this book in particular gets a fist pump from myself and Creep!

I genuinely loved this book, who wouldn't want not one, but two fated mates!?

This book was more difficult to read than the other two, there is depictions of abuse and coercion, which was made clear in the content warning page at the start. It was very well written, just a very difficult read.

It does appear that every character, bar maybe Priscilla suffers from word vomit, which can be endearing for the most part, I personally would like a character that this did not happen to.

All three of the Briar coven books are intertwined and take place about the same time, which means they dont necessarily have to be read in the published order.

I would say despite it being a MMF romance, the spice was more subdued than the other two books, which I quite enjoyed!

This was a very solid 4* for me.

The story, the writing style, the spice, the intrigue, everything was there and nicely mixed.

I haven't read the first two books of the series yet and read this one as a standalone very easily.

One character acts very out of sorts from the very beginning and even though I didn't know much about them, it was very well written and I could tell straight away that something wasn't adding up.

It's a romance and as such, relationships tend to start off very quickly. Let's be honest, it's one of the reasons why we read them.

All in all, a very enjoyable read and I'll probably read the rest of the series when my never ending TBR will allow it 🙈

First thanks to Booksirens for an ARC copy of this book
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5/5)

I really enjoyed this book! The writing style by Belle Blakley was super easy to get into and after just a few chapters I was completely hooked. Once I got invested, I absolutely flew through the book because it was such a fun and fast read.

The story had a really nice balance between romance, humor, and emotional moments. Some scenes genuinely made me laugh and kept the story feeling light and entertaining. I also really enjoyed the romance — the chemistry between the characters worked really well for me and I loved seeing their relationships develop throughout the book.

While there were a few moments where I wanted a little more depth, overall I still had a great time reading it and was always excited to keep going.

This paranormal reverse harem romance starts with an incubus discovering his witch mate, but the story quickly deepens when unresolved feelings for his best friend—and fellow incubus—come into play.
The relationship dynamics evolve through a mix of emotional back-and-forth and external threats, eventually leading to a satisfying and heartfelt HEA for all three. The progression feels organic, with each character finding their place within the relationship.
There’s also an element of mystery running through the story—characters aren’t always what they seem, and uncovering their true motives adds an extra layer of intrigue.
Overall, a cute, engaging, and emotionally satisfying read with a strong focus on relationships and a touch of suspense.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series to date and watching all the Incubus go off to their happy places each Samhain. However Blaize and Ambrose are sad because they haven't been called and have been making the most of their time while Caitlyn wanted to get set up before calling her mates. Truthfully, I think they are all emotionally constipated. Blaize and Ambrose would have a much better time if they'd been truthful to each other, but I get they didn't want to get too involved as they thought they would go to separate succubi. Anyway, this was a fun read with Creep (the doll of the sentient house) doing some excellent pranks. I just needed a bit more from this one. However I hope there are more in the series.
big thanks to Book Sirens and the author for a copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.

Accidentally Employed an Incubus earned an elusive 5-🌶️ rating from me, because whew 🥵 There’s spice, and then there’s spiiiiice. I don’t know if this was intentional or not, but I really loved how the chemistry between Caitlyn and Blaise felt off before Ambrose arrived. The chemistry was really well written in that sense. I also maybe, kinda, sorta like Creep? I dropped a star because I thought there were threads that didn’t fully come to completion. Priscilla and her relationship with the house was one of those. Also, I was hoping for a bit more of a punishment for Isadora and revenge for Ambrose. Oh well. Overall, nice job!

Thank to BookSirens for this ARC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I’m glad that this story was standalone but still apart of a series. I really enjoyed the story and the push and pull the three main characters felt which was felt too.

When stories allow people to be who they are and not have to worry about what others feel or think is great. More people need to see that there are different types of relationships out there and not just the vanilla kind. It was great to see how organic it all flowed. I did feel for Creep the house and Pricilla but glad that it all came together in the end. By the end of the book I wanted to re read the other books to be reminded of the others witches and their fated mates.

Three for three with this series! I absolutely loved this book and the emotional growth of the MMCs. I felt like we didn't actually get to see much of Caitlyn, but I didn't mind since the MMCs were such a mess. The pacing was really fast in this book, but it worked because so much happens. I hated it at first, but im really glad Priscilla got a redemption arc.

I enjoyed the cameos from the previous 2 books, especially BooDini, but I really loved Creep. The previous houses have been adorably, but I am officially obsessed with this sentient haunted house and Mordi. I'm really not ready for this series to be winding down, but I cannot wait for Jake and Billie!
