The Quarterback Draw: An Established Couple College Romance

Rate this book
She's the only play he never saw coming...and the one he can't afford to lose.

Honey
Zach Evans is the golden boy of college football. He's the star quarterback whose name is chanted by thousands of people every Saturday, and I'm the girl who has him.
Sounds like a dream, right?
That's what the internet thinks.
What they don't see is the hate in my DMs, the rumors that follow me, and the fact that loving the most watched man on campus means the whole world has an opinion on whether I deserve him.
I came to college to figure out who I am, but somewhere between my father's impossible demands, an internship that's slowly suffocating me, and the spotlight that follows Zach everywhere, I'm losing myself.
He thinks love is enough. That if he just holds on tight enough, I won't slip away, but how am I supposed to be his forever when I don't even know who I am without him?

Zach
Here's the thing about Honey She's it for me. No discussion needed.
I'd run through every defensive line in the country, take every hit, and burn my entire future to the ground if it meant keeping her safe, and yeah, I know how that sounds.
I don't care.
But lately? She's pulling away, and confiding in people who aren't me. She smiles at me even though I know she's breaking inside.
The girl I'd burn everything down for won't even let me strike the match.
Everyone thinks being the starting quarterback is pressure. They have no idea. Because I can win every game this season and still lose the only thing that actually matters.

The Quarterback Draw is a spicy, dual-POV new adult college romance featuring an obsessed quarterback, a heroine fighting to exist outside his shadow, and a love that's about to be tested by the one person they never saw coming.

Jewelsy struggled with this one….

The FMC is written as a kind, and naive character, who’s struggling with self confidence and trying to find herself outside of her mega rich family and popular, successful boyfriend. At least that’s how I think the author wanted to portray her. But to me she came across as sheltered and remarkably unaware of how her self absorbed actions affected others.

At the beginning, I found some empathy for the poor little rich girl who’s so undeniably loved by her unbelievably amazing quarterback boyfriend, but soon struggled through large chunks of this book, often skimming my way through the FMC’s endless beautiful-rich-girl angst. Somehow, despite that, I still finished it - which is why I can’t rate this book lower than 3 stars.

The real problem was that the book kept telling me how she was unfairly judged by everyone around her, which should have made me sympathise and see the unfairness bestowed upon her. They called her weak, useless and entitled - undeserving of her hot, devoted boyfriend. By the end, I was nodding along with all the haters and their accurate collective assessment of her, which probably makes me as bad as her bullies haha!

2nd book in a continuing series that needs to be read in order. Told in dual POV with cliffhanger ending. Will need a break from this character for a while, but will be picking up final book (one day) because I’m ocd and need to see how this plays out cos I’m not a monster and do want to see some growth from the FMC and get the damn HEA.

The Quarterback Draw ARC Review by Ana Shay

Let’s set the scene…
Me: “ANNNAAAAA”
Ana: “Uh oh… Where are you at?”
Me: “I can’t even talk to you😭 why did I agree to read this gut wrenching book💔😭😭😭😭”

Now onto my review🤭
GODDAMMIT ANA😭 This book was everything and not enough at the same time!🥹😩 I always feel so much when I read about Zach and Honey. 🥺 I just reread The Quarterback Sneak prepping for their 2nd book. It didn’t prepare me AT ALL FOR THIS. 🫠 So many emotions!! Honey… sweet, broken, misunderstood Honey, how I wish I could hug her! I know she has some major character growth coming and I CANNOT wait to see the bad bish she has been hiding from us! 🤭 Zach… my poor loves harder than any man I’ve met, world revolves around Honey, sweet Zachy… I love you dude but read the room once in a while😬 it could save you some trouble😂 I hurt for him and Honey in this book. For the way they both doubted so much about their worth, about their love, and future. The way I was in Ana’s DMs SOOOOO upset because what do you mean I have to WAIT😭 I need more NOW!! Ana never fails to amaze me with her talent and I cannot wait to have this book on myself with Zach and Honey’s first book🥹

Favorite quotes of mine:
“When I’m not kissing her, I’m missing her.”

“Baby, I’m not here to breathe. I’m here to make you forget your own fucking name.”🫠😮‍💨

“Nobody doesn’t scream your name for forty-five minutes straight,” Sebi counters. “Trust me, I’ve tried with nobody. She’s very unresponsive.”💀💀💀 oh Sebi😂

“I love you,” she whispers against my lips. “So much it feels like it’s going to destroy me.” “Then we’ll burn together,”🫠

“If I lose her, I lose everything.” <— Ana killing me slowly😭

📚BOOK REVIEW 📚

The Quarterback Draw - @authoranashay

Before reading this book, I suggest you read the Quarterback Sneak first to get the first paper of Zach and Honey's story.

Oh my goodness. What a story this is. Honey and Zach have had my heart since the Quarterback Sneak and what a joy it was to dive back into their world and catch up with them again.

I love Ana Shay's books because she doesn't shy away from real issues in relationships and she's perfectly executed the two sides of a relationship and each of their feelings.

Honey is struggling to find herself after the drama in high school and she is finding it hard to see who she is without Zach. Not wanting to rely on another man she is trying to be independent and stand on her own two feet. She loves Zach wholeheartedly but it's fair to say she is quite an anxious individual. The author wrote this part of the story so well that I could feel her doubts and fears as if they were my own. They literally bounced off the page. She has so much to deal with and I was hooked as the story twisted and turned.

Zach is just a dream. He is everything you could want and he adores Honey but he doesn't like what his attention brings to Honey. He just wants to protect her.

There was a lot of push and pull in the book and at one point I was questioning characters wondering if they were genuine or not. It kept me guessing and I was completely hooked.

I can't wait to see where the story goes next because it's safe to say this is a special story and Zach and Honey have my whole heart. I adore them.

Another amazing read from an author that delivers every time.

Are we fr?

I was good at the start really had me, but the further I got in to the book the more insecure the fmc became. Its always, “I know your not cheating, but…” “Obviously I trust you, you given me no reason not to, but…” After the first time okay, but the fact the it kept repeating you obviously don’t trust him and the fact they she was going to believe she barely even knew, but everyone felt was shady. 👀 They she wants to say how she could fall apart in front of her man (who she’s had no reason not to trust/ feel safe/ one of the only good people from her past), but she could easily fall apart in front of the OTHER guy that was trying to get with her. (But apparently she’s to “oblivious” to see that) Like please. In the beginning I didn’t agree with her being labeled a pick me, but as I got further in the book i started to see some of the traits in her. NOT ALL! But there are definitely some in there. I just to under was she’s making it seem like there foundation is built out of straw. THAT MAN LIVES HER DOWN! Not once did he not show it, yet she was so worried about everyone else’s opinion when she didn’t even like the neither. She had the option to leave the house situation and the school situation in general and she didn’t. There’s wanting to be independent, head-strong, and have you own/do your own, but she’s not. It’s just and endless cycle of self doubt to the point where i’m starting to wonder is she wants him to cheat, like is that what she wanting for. It’s confusing and irritating. As well as very disappointing.

“I want to be your home too. When everything else is broken, I want to be the person you run to. I will show up. I will fight for you. I will fight with you. I want to help you when you feel lost and celebrate every single one of your wins.”

Wow. I love Zach & Honey! 🍯

Zach & Honey are now both in college. Zach is practically footbool royalty and Honey is being hated by everyone - just for being Zach‘s girlfriend. An unkown number even keeps sending her pictures and texts that make Honey rethink everything - her relationship, her friendships and her college choice. Will all the pressure be too much for their relationship?

Zach just wants Honey to be his wife and for her to believe him she is enough and that he wouldn’t cheat on her.
Honey hears whispers everywhere and the unkown number who keeps texting her don’t make it better.
I love the character development that we see both characters go thorough, especially when you read the first book.
There where definitely scenes that broke my heart, but also ones that made me giggle! What I really enjoyed was them being there for each other.
I can’t wait for tze following two books and to read about their happily ever after! 🤍

This book fell short for me, I didn’t feel like these were the same characters from before..

Honey seems so.... idk immature maybe?idk… I understand she's trying to find herself, but Zach is so busy with football that she had plenty of time to do stuff on her own but she was too busy hiding from texts when she could've just turned her phone off, join a book club or find a place with people who don't care about football. An entire College and only two people talked to her in the second year?  She could've easily joined some club so she didn't feel so isolated..

Zach seemed to lose himself, losing focus on his game/career because of  Honey's breakdowns…

The moral of the story is lots of things can be solved by communicating…
