I genuinely don’t even know how to rate this book.

On one hand, the plot pulled me in right away. It was fast paced, suspenseful, and kept me fully engaged the entire time. I needed to know what was going to happen next. So in terms of readability and intrigue...Solid.

But the ending? I’m left with so many questions that it almost feels like the story just…stopped instead of concluded. I’m not against an open ending, but this felt unfinished like we’re missing at least one more book (and honestly, I hope we get one).

SPOILER QUESTIONS
Because explain to me:
Are we getting a book for Cole?
What exactly happens with Kernel now?
Howard…are we really just letting him slide?
Jake and Becca, a book for them too?
Becca post rescue…what was her actual condition? I know Daniel loves Lydia, but he is not going to check on his sister?
Also, why did Langford even blame Daniel with “Daniel Mason was going to find out what it was like to lose someone he loves”… when he already DID!!! They all lost Natalia. That didn’t land for me at all. Nor was it even Daniels fault....the math ain't mathin here.....

And then there’s the romance…
Look, I don’t need spice for a book to work but don’t spend time building tension, emotional connection, and lead-up just to completely fade to black with zero payoff. It made those moments feel unfinished too, not just the plot.

Lydia and Daniel, yes, we technically get a HEA, but it felt rushed and underdeveloped. Even an epilogue could have made a huge difference in tying everything together.

Overall: strong build up… but the ending leaves more loose threads than satisfying closure.

If there’s a sequel coming, I’ll absolutely read it because clearly I’m still invested. I just wish this had felt more complete.

Conflicted by this.

Storyline kept me so hooked I finished it in 24 hours, but I felt like I was constantly reading to find out more development that just never happened. I think it’s a great start but honestly needs quite a bit of work to add more depth.

Whilst a YA book is often my favourite and you definitely don’t need open door with romance, the entire book felt like it was leading to a really rushed fully closed ending that made little sense for the characters. We were waiting for Daniel to figure out his shit… which was what? Because from what I understand he decided to finally make a move once she’s been beaten to death. Just felt really odd to me.

I was at 98% of the book which felt like it should have been the 60-70% mark of the development.

There’s also a lot of typos through this that need proof reading. I can’t think of them all off my head but gorgous was definitely one of them.

Started and finished the book in the same day. The pacing was great and the plot was gripping up until the culmination point. Easy read, good writing style. I liked the character building and the relationship development and didn’t mind the lack of “spice” because the tension was more than sufficient. I felt like the military operation subplot was underdeveloped (we still don’t know how that ended or why some things really happen at all) and the “main villain”’s motivation was quite.. insignificant in the grand scheme of things - it wasn’t exactly “main conflict” worthy, it felt more like a secondary conflict building up to the main one, and upon realizing this was in fact the main conflict the ending felt abrupt. Ultimately, I believe this book could’ve gone about 100-200 more pages, developing more on Kernel and the military operation, and maybe the FMC’s dark past. Or maybe a sequel on those?
I would definitely read a sequel!

Really enjoyed and loved the first half of this book and then I don’t know what happened to the last part but it seemed like the author just gave up. I have so many unanswered questions. All of the men in this book seem to really hit it off with the FMC and give her nicknames, but it’s not a reverse so l’m not really sure how to feel about that. She has a Stalker that has been after her for years and is in love with her who I think I’m rooting for also…? Really loved the FMC also and everything about her, I want more of her story.
ALSO no sex????? That was gonna be the spiciest sex scene ever and you gave us absolutely nothing
Devoured this book in 5 hours but felt very incomplete

I honestly don’t know how to rate this book. I LOVED the first half, but somewhere along the way it became a slog to get through. And suddenly there were a bunch of side character pov chapters, and all of these bros have pet names for the FMC like some kind of non sexual reverse harem - which is NOT my cup of tea. The ending was frustrating too.

Jno ending

This book was so good. It grabbed me from the beginning and kept me turning pages all night. I stayed engrossed until then end and then it was WTF, where is the ending. Not a cliffhanger that is completed in the next book, it just ended. Come on Kye Arnon write the rest of it. I’m invested now!

WTF

There was SO MUCH build up and not one spicy scene. The plot was so good. I could feel the chemistry and everything was going great and then it just ended. Could’ve at least had the ending be spicy. All in all liked it for the plot but seriously missed the mark and potential to be a tiny bit spicy. Or at least some serious heavy petting.

This read a little awkward at first, but when I realized the FMC was neurodiverse, I quickly developed an appreciation for what the author was portraying.

AMAZING

Slightly slow start, but a real page turner once you get past the “world building.” I absolutely loved it. Can’t wait for the next one!
