Dark Sky #5
Wings of Death
Zaydah and Ilyia will bide their time. Sometimes destroying a man from the inside out is the best way to conquer a kingdom.
In the belly of her enemy, Zaydah could try to escape, but the longer she’s trapped underground, the more she begins to unravel their secrets. They believe that she’ll never escape, that she’ll learn their ways and one day be as brainwashed as the rest of them.
But Zaydah finds aid in unexpected places, from others who earn her loyalty. Ilyia is only one of those, but one of the most vital. She’ll use a man to gain access to the secret underground lair of the enemy. Ilyia enjoys the game more than most, and she plays it better, too.
The final battle is unfolding, and the king is willing to destroy his kingdom to conquer his son. But that son and his queen will give everything for their people.
It’s time for the Shield Queen to reign.

"Wings of Death (Dark Sky #5)"
by Ella Walker Henderson
Two Queens, One Kingdom, and Tears at the 75% Mark 😭
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Five books of buildup and Henderson's landing holds. 🔥
The dual point of view between Zaydah and Ilyia is the smartest choice here. Zaydah grows into the Shield Queen the Ring of Light kept naming her, and Ilyia steals every scene she touches, especially alongside Car. 💫
I missed Group 14, though they arrive when it counts. Emotional, satisfying, and completely earned. Read the bonus chapter. 🗝️
Ella Walker Henderson for the win 🏆 📚

3 stars is the best I can do!
I’m sticking with 3 stars for this one. Overall, I enjoyed the series, and I really liked Car and Ilyiah, but I have to say…the final book felt like a missed opportunity.
This is a five-book series, and after investing all that time in Aris and Zaydah, I expected their story to be a much bigger focus in the finale. Instead, I felt like the author spent more time exploring and highlighting the back-and-forth between Car and Ilyiah than the relationship that had been at the heart of the series.
And honestly, Aris deserved better. He was such a good MMC throughout the series—protective, devoted, and someone I actually enjoyed watching develop. But in this last book, I almost forgot what made him such a great MMC because he just didn't feel as present or important as he should have. I wanted MORE of Aris and Zaydah, especially after everything they had been through.
I actually liked Car and Ilyiah, so this isn't me saying their story wasn't enjoyable. It just felt misplaced in the final book. After five books, I wanted the main characters to get the big emotional payoff they deserved.
The series was good, and I'm glad I read it, but the ending left me feeling like the author did Aris and Zaydah—and especially their love story—a bit of an injustice.
Definitely not a bad read, but unfortunately not the satisfying finale I was hoping for.

I did enjoy this series but adding the extra POV in the last two books pulled from the emotion and connection from the main characters. It really wasn’t needed and I think this book would have been better without it. The reuniting was anticlimactic and we had builds up with the history books in the tunnels and saving the innocent people in the tunnels but never learned what came of any of that when the battle ensued just a jump to the wedding day!

A satisfying ending to an epic 5-book series!
Once again, we get a ton of plot and action in this final Dark Sky book. The dual POV from Zaydah and Iliya played beautifully as we got to navigate the rings of light and dark further. We also got to see a fairly impactful return of Brev and gain clarity of how and why he changed as a character throughout the series.
Ella has a craft in writing intense battle scenes, great banter and drawing the tension between characters so tight you are kicking your feet screaming at them and don't know who will snap first.
This series stole my heart last year and I'm both ecstatic and overcome with sadness that the journey is over. I'll be keeping my eye out for her new series to drop.
Thank you to author for the immense privilege of an ARC opportunity for this series!

This series took me completely by storm earlier this year, and books 4 and 5 have been my most anticipated releases since I finished book 3 right after its release. I was genuinely surprised at how deeply it slid under my skin. The second this book arrived on my Kindle at 10:00pm, I settled into bed and read until 3:00am. Am I suffering? Yes. Do I care? Hells no.
Usually, before the series ends, there tends to be one book where everything has to get navigated into place for the big finale. This is what I call a "chess piece book". It may not have the heaviest plot elements or largest amount of character development, but it is still necessary to move everything into position before the final book. Book 4 (Wings of Ruin) is that book. Even though we had a new POV and a separate plotline, Ilyia was still a piece on the board that was navigating us toward the finale. She became necessary for our wrap-up.
Why did I bring this up? Good question. The finale of a series reflects on the effectiveness of the "chess piece book". Wings of Ruin is only effective as a chess piece book if Wings of Death delivers the final "checkmate" of it all and makes all of that setup pay off. A good example of a wasted chess piece is Game of Thrones season 7. Because season 8 was so terrible, now both seasons are terrible. RIP.
Predictably, Henderson executed her checkmate effectively. I can't explain it, but she always has this way of just making things work. This series is excellent because it is air tight. I didn't really sit there feeling like there were dropped threads, plot holes, important missed conversations, or anything that felt misleading for no reason.
I'd say that Ilyia carried the first half of this book easily while Zaydah's plotline was in a bit of a place of stasis. But also, given both of their positions in the first half, it makes the most sense and I didn't feel like reading Zaydah's POV chapters were a waste of my time even though they weren't as action packed and event heavy as Ilyia's. She still served an important purpose in information gathering, and I didn't feel like I was just floating through Zaydah's POV.
When Ilyia was first introduced in Wings of Ruin, I really wasn't certain about her. But she ended up being one of the most excellent characters and I loved the interplay between her shrewdness and the surprising vulnerability that she has to confront. Her attitude is excellent, her wit is lovely, I adore her dragon, and I honestly want to be like her when I grow up. Even though I'm older than her. Sssh. Just...let me dream.
I would have liked to see more Zaydah and Aris, but also I can't get enough of Zaydah and Aris so that isn't necessarily a reflection on the book. This book just doesn't have a lot of romance with the two of them. I also wouldn't have minded seeing a bit more Brev, but I still think his character and role were prevalent enough that there wasn't a visible gap. I just enjoy watching evil men suffer. But, there was a good amount of evil men suffering here, so I'll allow it.
Everything felt wrapped up effectively, the ending delivered the proper amount of emotional heaviness and satisfaction.
Really the only thing I have left to say is that I'm also down bad for Car now. It was inevitable.

For those who want a short and sweet review: it is an epic conclusion to an epically fantastic series.
For those who want a story plus a review, here goes.
Writing my first review on Goodreads on an account I did not know I had as apparently I made it when I was quite young and discovered that a series I was reading had more books, so I made a list of wanted books, well book, on here. After the recovering password process that seems to always be more frustrating than it should be, granted I am running off on 3 hours of sleep but whose counting, and discovering the why of this account, I am now writing a proper review of this book.
Now why did I choose to write a review on the last book of the series first? Well, a certain company that starts with the first letter of the English alphabet and ends with the 13th letter, took down my review and is blocking me from reviewing again even though I followed all guidelines. They also own this webiste, so who knows maybe they will take this one down too.
Now, to the actual review.
Wings of Death is the finale of a fanasty series that readers want, that readers deserve. Sure, many of us want more as Henderson made a very unique world with incredibly interesting characters, but thankfully a few bonus chapters will be sent out through her news letter.
Keeping the review spoiler free for book 5, Zaydah and Ilyia continue to be the excellent characters they are, and their creatures being a huge part of their characters is part of the reason as to why this series is so good. Don't worry, the creatures personalities still shine in this one.
The slow burn between Aris and Zaydah continues to burn, and who doesn't love a slow burn with the male character frantically searching for his love who was kidnapped by her psychotic ex best friend.
Brev is still Brev, but you get to learn more about his backstory and it actually made me more sympathetic towards his character. The conclusion of his and Zaydah's relationship with each other made me teary eyed, and honestly I can't wait to reread it.
Car... yeah. Enough said. His and Ilyia's relationship is a fun one, and yeah. Yeah let's just say I definitely have a type of book character I am always drawn to.
Due to the incredible ending that this book is of the Dark Sky series, the series will be one that I reread every couple of years. It's engaging, has unique ideas and such an interesting world, and this series got me out of a reading burnout from another series.

Just alright
I’m giving Wings of Death, and honestly the series as a whole, 3 stars. I didn’t dislike it. I actually think the fantasy side of the story is good, but for a series marketed as romantasy, the romance just never delivered for me.
Somehow I feel like we got more of Ilya and Car’s relationship than we did Aris and Zaydah’s, especially with Ilya and Zaydah being the dual POV for the last two books. Aris is supposed to be the main love interest, but so much of Zaydah’s story happens completely separate from him.
And that was probably my biggest issue with the series. Zaydah and Aris never really work together. Zaydah is constantly off doing her own thing, leaving Aris out of it, and he’s mostly just… fine with it. I kept waiting for the point where they would finally become a team and take something on together, but it never really happened. Their relationship felt more like something happening in the background of Zaydah’s individual story than an actual central romance.
The kidnapping in this book really drove that home for me. Zaydah is gone for MONTHS, and instead of desperately trying to get back to Aris and her dragon, she basically settles in and starts researching what the Dark Circle is doing. Earlier in the series, there’s so much emphasis on how painful the bond makes it to be separated, so I expected her to be fighting tooth and nail to get home. There was just no urgency, and it didn’t make sense to me.
I think I wanted more maturity from the relationship in general. After five books, I wanted Aris and Zaydah to feel like partners. Give me the two main characters working together against the bigger threat. Give me the yearning when they’re separated. Give me the feeling that getting back to each other actually matters.
As a fantasy series, I enjoyed it. But as a romantasy, it left me wanting a lot more romance — and unfortunately that was what I kept waiting five books to get.

Zaydah has been kidnapped again. But this time it isn't the morally gray, quasi-friendly face of Car and his Ring of Light but underground with Brev. Her bonds are severed, she is cut off from her Aeros and friends, and she is told that no one escapes, this is her new home. The utopia that Brev preaches was built under the charisma of Rainer and the cracks are showing. Zaydah bides her time, she knows that his reign isn't steady, and the ones who can truly sway the power have reached out to her. Instead, she learns her enemy, learns about the people who call Helinus home, and learns what she wants her rule with Aris to look like. One thing she knows for certain though, King Augustus must die.
Ilyia is playing a dangerous game but she knows no other life. She agreed to gather information on what Quintus is doing with the faction of Chrystha under King Augustus's orders. She is skirting around the Ring of Darkness and what their plans are for the mines and the people underground. Being sponsored by House Secondus has her orbiting Car, someone she knows is dangerous himself but she also has this weird pull to him as well. At first she thought it was fear but as their paths interact more she realizes it may be some other emotion she rather not acknowledge. What started as her making a power play starts to shift and she needs out before she is buried beneath Quintus's plans.
This is the final book of this series and it delivers a fantastic climax. Most plot points were wrapped up and not everything is cut and dry, good and evil. Zaydah learns to see the gray in between what was told and what is and she makes plans to try to save those she can. The character growth seen throughout the series as a whole has been splendid, that they do learn and do grow. This was the book I've been waiting for this series and it delivers well.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Stars — An Incredible Ending to the Dark Sky Series
What a way to end this series! Wings of Death was everything I wanted from the finale of the Dark Sky series and such an emotional, action-packed conclusion to a journey I have loved being part of.
After following Zaydah, Aris, and the rest of these characters throughout the series, I was both excited and nervous to see how everything would finally come together. Ella Walker Henderson did not disappoint. The stakes are higher than ever, the tension is intense, and there were so many moments where I genuinely had no idea what was going to happen next.
I loved seeing Zaydah continue to show just how strong and determined she has become. Ilyia’s story also added so much to this final installment, especially as everything that has been building throughout the series finally begins coming together. The relationships, loyalties, betrayals, political maneuvering, and fight for the kingdom kept me completely invested.
There were moments that made me nervous, moments that made me emotional, and plenty that had me wanting to read faster just to find out what happened. After spending five books with these characters and this world, finishing the final pages was definitely bittersweet. I wanted answers, but I also wasn’t ready to say goodbye!
Wings of Death was a satisfying conclusion to a series filled with dragons, magic, danger, found family, romance, political intrigue, unexpected alliances, and characters I’ve become incredibly attached to.
If you’ve been following the Dark Sky series from the beginning, you absolutely do not want to miss this finale.

I'm torn because I'm happy Aris and Zaydah's journey and fight are over (but I'm hoping for another one because of the ending and the short story!). Still, thanks for the ride and letting me be an ACR for the whole series—I've loved it!
Now for the actual review:
This book picks up right where the last one left off. I expected the citizens from under the mines to be harsh and dangerous to Zaydah, but for the most part, that didn't happen (until later, of course). You can really see how much Zaydah has matured and is now thinking like a true queen, being diplomatic with everyone around her. Aris is rumored to be beside himself with Zaydah captured, but since his father is still alive, he has to be careful. When Zaydah finally makes her way back to him, it was a happy reunion, and their decision to go public with their relationship was a great development. They stand together in the final fight and get the happy ending they both deserve (as do their creatures… I really hope she writes another book using that ending!).
I'm so happy that Car and Iiyia also get a happy ending, and we get to see Ilyia as a happier version of herself. When she realized her previous relationship before Car was super dangerous and she needed to get out, I was so glad.
Overall, I really enjoyed this series. While I think it gives off some Fourth Wing vibes, it's definitely good enough to stand on its own.

A beautiful finale. These characters deserved every bit of this ending.
*Received an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.*
If you've followed Zaydah and Aris from the beginning, this is the payoff you've been waiting for, not a perfect one, but a genuine one.The total story arc lands with satisfying closure. Not every thread is tied (the full backstory of Tiberia and onus/deconerous remains elusive) but the lingering questions feel intentional rather than forgotten.
Aris continues to be stalwart and steady in his trust, and Zaydah deepens beautifully to meet him. After everything this series has put them through, seeing that trust settle into something real is its own kind of reward.
Car and Ilyia steal the show a bit, and it is completely delightful. We get less of Elaria and Valentious here, but the surprises Car and Ilyia bring are some of the best in the series. Claudius remains a constant joy. And Ilyia feels like one of the more complex and rounded characters Ella has introduced across any series I've read of hers. I appreciated her confidence and found her boldness amusing.
One note: there is a bonus downloadable chapter at the end of the book. Read it. It offers a little more closure and is worth every page.
What you'll find: A satisfying series finale · earned romance payoff · beautiful surprises · complex side characters · overall story arc closure ·
What you won't find: Spoilers from me

Claudius remains a constant joy. And Ilyia feels like one of the more complex and rounded characters Ella has introduced across any series I've read of hers. I appreciated her confidence and found her boldness amusing.
One note: there is a bonus downloadable chapter at the end of the book. Read it. It offers a little more closure and is worth every page.
What you'll find: A satisfying series finale · earned romance payoff · beautiful surprises · complex side characters · overall story arc closure ·
What you won't find: Spoilers from me

I waited to read this til the last book was out so I could binge read it-
First I’ll start with things I didn’t like-
I didn’t like how dragged out the books were first 2 were good but felt like the 3/4th book were unnecessary and dragging out the plot to much
I didn’t like the addition to ilyas character her POV was so boring and mostly just talked about what we already knew in the other books but she was learning and basically how to use people to sleep her way to more power , I started skipping majority of her chapters and could still follow along with the story which proves even more how unnecessary her pov was.
Mostly what I didn’t like is kinda what I said above everything felt repetitive and unnecessary at a certain point to where this would have most likely been better as a trilogy instead of 5books and still kept all the important plot points
I would have like aris pov more than ilyas since his POV would have provided new or different information and the struggles he was going through with the courts and his father rather than just repeat information from a different pov
What I didn’t like-
I LOVED all the side characters especially group 14
The plot was good and engaging
I really like the relationship between aris and zaydah and the understanding between them two it’s rare to have a healthy relationship in these types of books.
All in all it’s not a story I would reread but not mad I read it.

I really enjoyed this series, and overall I think Wings of Death was a good conclusion. There is plenty happening, especially with the politics and the larger conflict, and the final part is packed with action and some genuinely emotional moments.
My main issue was the shift in focus. A large portion of the book is spent away from many of the characters and relationships I had grown attached to throughout the previous four books, while newer characters and a secondary POV get much more attention. I understood why this worked for the plot, but emotionally I just wasn’t as invested. There was even a chapter from that POV that I skipped, and when I returned to the main story I didn’t feel like I’d missed anything. 😅
I particularly missed the established cast and would have loved more time with them in the final book of the series. Some of the most powerful moments for me were precisely the ones connected to relationships and history that had been built across the previous books.
The last 20% really picks up, with plenty of action and satisfying emotional payoffs. I just wish some of that energy, and more time with the characters I already loved, had been spread throughout the rest of the book.
Still, I enjoyed it and I’m glad I finished the series. A solid 4 stars, with a little asterisk. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What an exceptional ending to this series! I hoped that this last book would be worth the pay off and goodness did Ella not let us down in any way.
This book picks up immediately after book four and we are split on pov's with Zaydah and Ilyia trading off chapters to cover the breadth of details and things happening across this world. Zaydah is becoming the Shield Queen that the ring of light claims she is and is fully embracing her power. It was absolutely awesome to witness her character growth. Ilyia, the chaos creator that she is, utalized every moment of weakness in others to her advantage but also showed her own allegiances.
I missed our initiate group of friends that have become family, but they showed up when it truly mattered. This story had me on the edge of my seat with nonstop action and secrets being revealed. I loved Una and the new people we met along the way, they made the first half of this story so much more. While the ending absolutely brought some tears, it also brought great satisfaction with how well the author brought everything together. Absolutely world class writing.

The epic conclusion to the Dark Sky series.
The language and romance is clean. AND you get a second love story in this one too! I loved the new relationship that was written into the story 🔥🫠
As always the battle scenes are 🔥🔥. The kind that keeps you on the edge of your seat hunched over your book like a little cave goblin trying to read faster to see what happens next with your leg bouncing a mile a minute.
I loved seeing how much growth many of the characters had, and Claud’s little side story 🥹. I think he has the most character growth to be honest lol little punk at the beginning of the series but each one made you love him more and more. Which is another thing that I enjoyed so much with this series, the side characters that you grow to love throughout the books. I am so sad that this series is at a close; I could do with a novella for each other the side characters, and maybe one about a future intake that has all the elements Zay dreams of in the epilogue. I don’t want to say too much cause spoilers.

I've finished and I loved it! It was a great ending to an amazing series.
Even if Zaydah and Aris are the main characters and we see how their story evolves and how they achieve all they are meant to, I believe that Ilyia and Car had a huge role in this book (maybe even more important than Zaydah and Aris). I grew more and more fond of both of them and was rooting for their relationship to grow! I loved how they steped on each other's toes just to put each other in line and how they challenged and at the same time accepted one another. I also liked to see a more human side to Car. He was more aproachable here.
I missed Valentius and his remarks, and also the previous side characters interactions. The relationship between the Aeros and their creatures was so intrinsicate and deep and the stories always made sure we knew that. I adored the whole "family vibe" they had created, but even with new characters I still missed it.
Cicero was a nice surprise, with is brotherly overprotectiveness about Ilyia. We had some twists and suprises and some not so pleasant ones (I grieved a little..) but even so it all made sense.

A perfect ending for the series! Truly, the author absolutely deserves every star of this review.
The book starts exactly where the last one ended. Zaydah once again finds herself kidnapped and cut off, not only from Valentius and Aris but also from her new power. She has to bide her time during her captivity and learn all she can before she escapes and reunites with her loved ones. With all the information she has gathered and with the help of some new unexpected allies, Zay begins her biggest battle yet.
Ilyia is back and ready for more fighting and more scheming. She’s no stranger to playing dirty, but her newest plans are without a doubt some of her most dangerous ones. Between Quintus and Car, she’s only beginning to realize just how far she’ll have to go. The question is, can she finish what she started before time runs out.
Nothing about this book is black and white. We see both sides to everyone involved. We feel the emotion and understand the thought process for each character. As much as I would have loved another book from this series just to see further down the timeline, I can’t deny just how beautifully this story was wrapped up.

Definitely worth a read—I loved this series so much! Thank you so much for letting me be an ARC reader.
The Dark Sky series is completely different from your normal dragon rider books, and the mix of POVs with other storylines intermixed is just brilliant. On the whole, this final book was a great ending to the series! A few of the characters' demises felt a tad too quick and easy for me, but it didn't ruin the ride at all. My absolute favourite part was the character development for Car—I love how morally grey he is, and seeing him finally get rattled was incredible.
If you haven't read this series yet, I fully, highly recommend it!
I do wish we could have seen a bit more of an ending for Car and Ilyia's story, as well as Claud's. I am definitely holding out hope for a future spin-off or a novella to show how their storylines progress! I'd love to see what happens next with Car and how things turn out with Claud’s baby—Car would honestly make a super cute girl dad! I would also absolutely love to see more of Melody, get a glimpse of how Claud's baby grows up alongside Zaydah's, and explore how Claud will cope now with life without a creature.

An absolutely incredible ending to the Dark Sky
Series which I never wanted to end.
Wings of Death was everything and then some for what I wanted from the finale of the Dark Sky series. This series has been an emotional rollercoaster and this book continues the ride. It action-packed in all the best ways.
The battle scenes are as always so impactful and keep you on the edge of your seat flipping pages reverently trying to read faster to see what happens next.
I loved the growth and depth of all the characters. The banter and engagement between not only the main characters but side/support characters makes for such an enjoyable book.
Wings of Death is the epically satisfying conclusion to a series that made me fall in love with so many characters and is filled with dragons, magic, danger, found family (group 11 forever and always) , slow burn romance, political intrigue, and unexpected alliances
If you've been following the Dark Sky series from the beginning, you absolutely do not want to miss this finale.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to be on this journey with you! I look forward to read more from you!!!

Gods this was such a fantastic finale to the series! I could NOT put it down until I got done. Absolutely loved the book and this series from start to finish! Was such, such, SCUH a fantastic finish to the series, though I would have loved to see a bit more of the aftermath of the battle, and the time between the end of the last chapter and the epilogue, as well as what the rest of the gang had been up to. Absolutely LOVED the highs and lows, the drama and revelations, twists and turns, shocks, romance, banter, found family, the creatures that aren't dragons, but have scales and fly, except the ones named Dragons that do breathe fire. I still have SOOOOO many questions about the onerus and deconerus stones, the powers, how Brev and his father and their faction did what they'd done, and sooo many more, but definitely can't recommend this book and series enough. Cannot wait to see what we have down the line for any potential future series in this universe, or whatever other amazing worlds and character Ella Walker Henderson dreams up for us next.

I cannot say enough good things about The Dark Sky series! This series has put me on an emotional rollercoaster ride that I did not want to end. The emotional connection for Aris and Zaydah from the very beginning.....chefs kiss 🤌
I did not think I would grow to like Ilya as much as I did. Zaydah was a more open and trusting person where Ilya was withdrawn and guarded. However, both FMCs will hold a special place in my heart. I grew to enjoy the character development of all the characters and tried to drag out the final battle scene as long as I could manage in fear of some of my favorites not making it.
Ella has a way of drawing you into the story and leaves you chomping at the bit for the next book when it inevitably leaves you on a cliffhanger. I normally ready spicy romantasy, but I can honestly say that I did not miss the spicy scenes because the storyline was too good.
If you are in a book slump, this is just the series to help get you out of it!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.
This was an amazing end to a great series! This book picks up where Zaydah was left in the underground area she had been trying so hard to find, only to be stuck there with no access to anyone. Watching her navigate the latest abduction was an adventure, while also getting to really know Ilyia. I loved the way Ilyia grew in this book and Car....I mean, he's fabulous throughout each book but especially this one. I just love all the characters to be honest, Claudius is still the ever loving funny guy, but with a twist. Brev, who we love to hate but honestly has such a tragic story. Aris, I love him so much! He's really been through the ringer in so many ways and the ending of this book had me all in my feelings.
I'm forever in love with all the creatures and they're extreme attitudes. I can't imagine loving the ending of this series anymore than I did! Ella did an amazing job with this entire series.

We start off with Zaydah waking up after the ending battle of book 2. And things are definitely out of sorts.
People are working behind the scenes, sides are being chosen, and some people will have to make difficult choices.
Ok ahhh so intense, plot twists abound. The battle to end all battles.
🫣😭🤯😵💫🎊🤬🤯😭🎊
Oh my goodness, this book is packed to the brim with action and adventure and the high flying dragon riding protectors.
Full scale rebellions, sides chosen, but will love win out. Do the good guys win.
This book is just as great as the first book in the series and I’ve only been able to say that for 3 other series I’ve read. Absolutely phenomenal.
Key points in no particular order:
- cult mentality
- lies and deceit
- sides being chosen
- classism
- kept hidden away
- longing
- yearning
- truths come out
- dragon riding
- protectors
- kingslayers
- friendships in unlikely places.
- 🫑only kissing
- closed door

🌟 4.75 stars 🌟
I’m sad the series has come to an end, but also so happy to see the happy endings. I love this series so much, and am always sucked in as soon as I start reading. I knew this one would be intense since it’s the last and we had the final battle to get through as well as seeing how Zaydah would need to get free from Brevain, but I don’t think I was quite prepared enough. It was interesting to see what was happening while Zaydah was away through Ilyia’s POV but at times it started to feel less like Zaydah story and more like Ilyia’s. I was also hoping we’d get POVs from some of the other characters, especially Aris. We also didn’t get to see the friends as much, which they’re a big reason I love the series so much. All that being said though, I really did love this conclusion and don’t think it could’ve ended better.

Obsessed! I loved this whole series but overall this book was pretty high up in being my favourite within the series just shy of book 1. It had so much going for it that made it binge worthy but also I didn’t want to finish too quick because it meant that the story would be over quickly.
I cried, yelled, kicked my feet up giggling, you name it. I went through all the emotions within this book so if you’re a Romantasy fan, who enjoys good banter, quick witted main characters and action all rolled into one then this book is for you.
I love Zaydah and Aris but in this book I was more team Caryia (yeah I said it) with their getting together tension throughout the book… if there’s a spin off focused on them, I’d RUN to read it. Ella Walker Henderson… you’ve done it again! There’s soooo much more I’d love to gush and rave over but I can’t without spoiling it.

This ending was definitely bittersweet. I loved seeing everyone get what was coming to them, and even though some of the endings weren’t exactly what I would have chosen, everyone got the closure they deserved. And honestly, I love that this series ended on such a good note.
The hardest part is knowing it’s actually over. I could have kept reading this series for so much longer because I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters and this world. It’s always a little sad when you finish a series you’ve genuinely enjoyed that much.
Overall, I’m really happy with how everything wrapped up, and I’m definitely looking forward to the author’s next series. If it’s anything like this one, I already know I’m going to be along for the ride!

I cannot say how much I enjoyed this book and this entire series. Once I picked up the book I could not put it down. This is for sure a 5 star read in my honest opinion.
This book continues on with Zaydah and Ilyia point of views. It is refreshing to have a strong woman's point of view and be experienceing real life scenarios that are not normally addressed in fantasy books. This made the story more relatable, made you feel you too could be chosen by a creature. These women proved they were strong, independent and forces to be reckoned with.
The twists and turns this plot took had me wanting more. Never knowing who was playing what political game and the last 100 pages had me on the edge of my seat not sure how this was going to play out.

Phenomenal ending to a Phenomenal series!
I absolutely LOVE this entire series and this final book is the perfect 👌 way to wrap up everyone's stories! I am so in love with Illyas ending, Clauds, the surprise dragon egg, and of course Zaydah and Aris! So many emotions, yearning, trials and difficulties to overcome, etc... the entire series is just so so good and I'm here for it all! Great writing, beyond solid plot with soooo many facets, a hea but it's absolutely worked for! My re read brought just a many emotions and has me in just a much of a chokehold as the first read. And the conclusion book did NOT disappoint! And the bonus chapters start the end were fun incisive as well!

👏🏼 Again I have loved this entire series!!
It keeps you interested the entire time I couldn't put it down I finished it in a day and a half.
The character growth on all of characters is amazing you get attached and love them all. These books are very well written (IMO everyone has one)
These books are not spicy if that's what you are looking for.....but in the beginning of the series there's angst enemy to lovers kind of thing going on just not spicy which I don't mind the story is great without it
Even with the creatures (dragons) there's growth, and you fall in love with them as well
All in all I would recommend these books to everyone

These books are not spicy if that's what you are looking for.....but in the beginning of the series there's angst enemy to lovers kind of thing going on just not spicy which I don't mind the story is great without it
Even with the creatures (dragons) there's growth, and you fall in love with them as well
All in all I would recommend these books to everyone

So this is love
I. Am. I don’t even have the words. Beautiful book. Beautiful series. Left me wanting more. I need to know about life after. I love when a series leaves me feeling like I found a friend. It’s also like “hate to see it go but love to watch it leave”: I’m sad that the series is done because….ah-mazing…but the process was so beautifully crafted.
Clean. (Due to some more adult themes I’d say older teens 17+)
Romantic.
Adventurous.
Colorful.
You felt a connection to the characters…like ALL of them, not just the mains.
I will be reading this series again and again so 10/10 would recommend.
