Can you rewrite fate? Or does it always turn the final page?

Maggie Calhoun has one goal: to win a coveted spot in her favorite author’s writing workshop. Landing a role as a dance extra in the film adaptation of his book could be her ticket in. But when she’s asked to teach its insufferable, rhythm-challenged leading man how to two-step, her plan spins off course, sending her straight into his annoyingly toned arms. He’s rude, self-absorbed, and far too charming for his own good. The plot twist she never expected might be just what her story’s been missing.

Holden Shaw wants to nail the infamous Big Dance Scene. But when his two left feet threaten to derail his director’s dream shot, he’s stuck learning the steps from a stubborn, smart-mouthed local with zero tolerance for his Hollywood ego. She’s infuriating, impossible—a distraction he hadn’t planned on, and with everything back home wearing him down, exactly what he needs.

What begins as a few charged dance lessons unfolds into a love story neither of them sees coming. But like the blossoms on Maggie’s magnolia tree, their time together is fleeting—here for a moment, gone too soon. As filming barrels toward its final cut, Maggie and Holden both learn the same harsh truth: sometimes the hardest part isn’t falling in love. It’s knowing you can’t stay there.

I went into Magnolia May as a first‑time Robin Hill reader, and now I’m kicking myself for not picking up her books sooner. This absolutely won’t be the last.

The story follows Magnolia and Holden in a charming Texas small town where a movie adaptation of a beloved book is being filmed. It has all the elements I love in a romance: genuine chemistry, a fun “soundtrack” woven into the narrative, and a setting that feels alive without ever overshadowing the characters. Hill doesn’t spend pages digging into backstory, but she gives just enough to understand who Magnolia and Holden are and why they love the way they do.

What really impressed me was how vivid the writing is. You can see the town, hear the way the characters talk, and picture every expression and movement. The whole world comes to life on the page. I was never once bored or tempted to skim—this story grabs you from the first chapter and never lets go.

The supporting cast is just as memorable as the leads, and they add so much warmth and charm. I’m already hoping Hill gives them their own happily‑ever‑afters.

A heartfelt, immersive romance that left me smiling and wanting more.

Magnolia and Holden's story is a proper love story.

Maggie is sassy and independent but also pretty closed off and then in an effort to meet her favourite author she is thrust into the arms of Holden Shaw as his dance instructor. Holden: famous actor and apparently 'Jackass'. first impressions are not all they seem and thankfully he wins her over with his charm, humour and big heart. Holden is a dream *swoons* confident and vulnerable all rolled into one hot package!

I was swept up in this small town and loved every minute of it. The nods to Dirty Dancing and Patrick Swayze called back to my youth but didn't overwhelm the story.

Wonderful side characters like Ben and Gabi give me hope for future stories and I look forward to reading them too! A heartfelt romance with moments of grief and angst handled beautifully.

Ugh, I loved this! I could not have been more excited to read Robin’s new book and the premise was so fun and unique! I feel like I haven’t read a proper romance in a good while and it was easy to remember why I fell in love with the genre.

Set in a small town in Texas…There is a film adaptation for a favorite book of Maggie’s, an aspiring author who wants to meet her favorite author & get a chance to join his writer’s workshop. She gets more than she bargains for when she meets Holden, the male lead who happens to have two left feet and needs a whole lot of help with a dance scene.

I’m a sucker for bookish things within books, be it writing or publishing, something in that realm, and I enjoyed Maggie’s process of really getting there. I loved all the musical references that set the tone for the dance scenes & the addition of a playlist for the book.

It was the perfect escape from reality read and I was right there with the characters, every step of the way, feeling what they were feeling and really visualizing the setting as if I were there myself. The food, the heat, the stars. The swimming scene was magic! I had chills in one of the end scenes and laughed promptly right after (no spoilers). The side characters were a delight as well and I would be happy to read more about them.

Completely engrossed in the story, which has been a challenge for me more often than not as of late, I read this in like, 2 days? Win! I hope to read even more from her in the future.

4 Stars!

Magnolia May was such a warm, comforting read with a really lovely balance of heart, humor, and romance. I especially enjoyed the small-town Texas setting mixed with the chaos of Hollywood filming, it gave the story a fun, refreshing dynamic. Maggie and Holden’s relationship developed in a way that felt natural and believable, which made it easy to get invested in them from the start.

I appreciated how strong the side characters were; they made the town and story feel even more alive, and I’d honestly love to read more about some of them in future books.

While I would have loved a little more time with the couple after everything wrapped up, the ending still felt satisfying and well-earned. Overall, this was a sweet, heartfelt romance with memorable characters, emotional moments, and just enough spice to keep things interesting.
I would definitely recommend picking this book up.

Magnolia May!
I savored this fun story and absolutely loved all the characters. We entered Magnolia’s (Maggie)world where she is running her inherited B&B, with her brother Ben. Maggie is a writer with a dream to be published and when her favorite Author comes to town and is working on a movie based off his book, she sees her chance of getting a coveted spot in said author’s writing class.

The extras needed for the dance scenes on the movie set is what the flyer her brother Ben gave her said and Maggie’s wheels started spinning with the idea of getting her favorite Authors attention .

Holden!
He is Hollywood’s golden boy and not a good two step dancer. His family issues has him stressed and to say his first meeting with Maggie was a disaster is an understatement.

So you guessed right if you said Maggie has to teach Holden to dance so the epic dance scene in the movie is perfect, but that’s just the beginning of the fun.

These two are perfectly irritated by each other and it’s a perfect slow build of dislike to tolerate to friendship and both of these characters have to do most of it without A/C. I’m sure most of their misery was caused by that.

So obviously you have to read this to get the whole story and fall in love with Maggie and Holden!

There's a warm mix of wit, heart and humor in Robin Hill's books but in this, her third book, she really amps them all the way up to eleven.

This is about a movie production that comes to Maggie's small Texas town, and she winds up being tasked with teaching the film's star--Hollywood heartthrob, Holden--how to dance for a key scene. These dance scenes make callbacks to Dirty Dancing in very smart, sweet ways so you can feel the homage but aren't drowning in it.

Her writing is sharp and the cast full of characters that feel like real people so that you end up rooting for them and their happiness. Holden is a golden retriever of an H, which is my favorite kind and I loved his attentiveness to his family and sense of duty to protect and care for those he cared about.

I also loved Ben, Maggie's brother, and I hope we get his story next but from page one, I adore him.

If you love cozy, heartwarming romance with humor and heart, and just the right amount of heat to keep it spicy, don't sleep on this one!

I've been anxiously waiting for this book for years. I was thrilled to finally read it. It was definitely worth the wait. Robin does such a beautiful job crafting her characters to life. Magnolia & Holden are no exception. They each have heartbreaking childhoods, that you can't help but root for them. I couldn't put the book down. I loved watching their love blossom, from their first meeting. I also loved seeing them discover the true versions of one another. Instead of believing the preconceived ones. It broke my heart watching them sacrifice their HEA, because other responsibilities took precedent. It made me love them more & root for their well-fought HEA. I also loved their ability to forgive people from their past. And to give them a second chance & their support. Highly recommend.

4.5 stars!! To be completely honest this was almost a 5 star read. I felt the end was a bit anticlimactic though. I still loved the entire story and Robin Hill needs to write more books! I’m a sucker for stories about a famous person falling in love with a “normal” person! Holden and Magnolia are not who you’d expect to fall in love but you never know what will happen when two people meet. At first they are enemies then something changes. Holden turns out to be a sweetheart and the best big brother! Not the jacka$$ that Maggie first thought he was and they are perfect together! I’d love to have a story about Gabi finding her HEA!

I toyed between 4 and 5 * for this so it probably sits somewhere in between! I really enjoyed that the love between the two grew organically- it felt real. Loved the dirty dancing references they made me smile. I would have liked to see more of their HEA which is why it is not 5* for me. I recommend this book - really great story, great characters and side characters with a well deserved HEA.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC. Hopefully we will get books for some of the side characters too.

There's Maggie, the aspiring writer who runs the bed and breakfeast in a small town in Texas. And then there's Holden, Hollywood's golden boy whose life seems perfect on the outside.

Holden comes to Maggie's hometown to film a new movie, a movie that happens to be based on Maggie's favorite book. What happens when these two meet?

Holden and Maggie are attracted to each other from the start, but each has their own reasons to be wary. Emotions run high as Holden and Maggie navigate their way through the film's set.

They have indeed found the one in each other, but the moment with falling in love is wrong.

I liked how the story progressed. Holden and Maggie's thoughts and reasoning during their relationship seemed rational. The language of the book was beautiful. I liked the characters and it would be nice to read Max's story too.

I especially liked the dance scenes, and it was lovely to see how meaningful the dance was throughout the book. The reasons for dancing may have changed, but it was an essential part of their relationship.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. Thank you for the author for providing the book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Magnolia May is a sweet southern love story with just enough spice to keep a reader up at night. I truly enjoyed the way that the drama of high-stress Hollywood blended with the laid-back simplicity of a small Texas town to create an unexpectedly captivating romance. Maggie and Holden's story is beautiful;lush with love, life, heartache, and laughter.

Robin Hill has mastered the art of writing strong characters whose personalities flow off the pages and wrap themselves around your heart. Reading this novel reminded me that even when circumstances seem impossible to resolve, love is the force that makes them possible.

Magnolia May is every bit as gorgeous on the inside as its cover suggests. I will definitely be recommending this as a perfect summer read to be paired with a favorite beverage in a favorite spot.

“I keep my eyes star-free and only dare to dream with them open.”

There’s a new book boyfriend in town…and his name is Holden Shaw. Trust me when I say you want to meet this movie star. Well, except maybe if your name is Magnolia May Calhoun and you’re not easily impressed with a “jackass”. (Her words.)

So what do you get when an ordinary but beautiful Texas Hill country girl has to teach a two-step to a handsome and rude movie star with two left feet? You get off the charts chemistry, top notch banter and a slow burn for the ages. Magnolia “Maggie” May runs a bed and breakfast that she took over from her aunt in rural Texas. Holden Shaw is starring in a new movie that is being filmed in her town. The film just happens to be based on Maggie’s favorite book. She aspires to be a writer and is hoping for a chance to meet the author on the film set. As Maggie and Holden spend time together a deep connection starts to form even though they couldn’t be more different.

Holden has a successful career and a life in LA. He also has a father in the business who is completely overbearing and downright awful. Maggie has strong ties to the B&B because it is filled with memories of her beloved mother. She’s a southern girl through and through just like her mama was. As Holden and Maggie work together and get closer, circumstances will arise that bring complications to their relationship.

Maggie’s hilarious “southernisms”, Holden’s tender relationship with his young stepsister Hannah, the many references to Dirty Dancing, Maggie’s sweet brother Ben, a stellar playlist and the slow burn, swoony relationship provide an emotional, funny and heartbreaking story that the reader can’t help but get totally invested in. The writing is superb, the characters are so entertaining and Maggie and Holden will steal your heart. This is Robin Hill’s third novel and she has firmly cemented herself as a one click author for me. I loved this book!
