Zach had been searching for an adventure worthy of a vampire. In the harsh beauty of a Siberian lake, he found it. An ancient burial site brings mystery and danger to vampires who have walked this world for over a thousand years. As he surveys the stunning, icy landscape and considers his next adventure, the woman he'd left two years ago, a magnificent older vampire, has finally decided that she loves him...hasn't she? She shows up, aggressive, sexy, jealous of the beautiful vampire he's traveled to Siberia with, to stake her claim. All he needs to know now is, will she run again when he finally accepts her love?
Dez has been searching for the man who'd walked away after she declared that she would never love him. In a frozen land, she finally finds him to let him know that she'd lied. It's just that it's so hard to actually admit it, to give away her heart so that it can be stomped on. What else could she expect? But after two years of loneliness, she decides that she doesn't want to live these endless years without him. He makes her laugh, he's a spectacular lover, and most of all, she knows that he loves her, no matter how tough that is to do. When she finds that he's in Siberia, she travels from her home in South America to let him know that she can finally admit what he's told her all along...she loves him and doesn't want to live without him. Walking into a little club in the isolated ice-box on Lake Baikal, she finds he's traveled there with a gorgeous vampire. Dez has never played nice when she wanted something, but this...Zach...was she too late?
Dez and Zach's story, started in Book 1, continues 10 volumes later. When you're immortal, how easy is it to fall in love forever?
My name is Charlie, everyone has a story, and this is mine...
That's how the book Last Best Hope, by author T.C.Butts, introduces Charlie Quinn, happy at last living in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, finally at home in her cabin surrounded by nature's beauty. From her isolated life, she makes her living writing a highly successful vampire romance series, where she proclaims, "So I didn't create timeless canons of literature...I created moments of escapist enjoyment, and in the lives we often trap ourselves, it was as important as any Shakespeare sonnet or Tennyson poem." When fireballs rain down on Denver one early spring night, the world is changed forever.
Author T.C.Butts has brought Charlie Quinn's vampire romance series to life, which has grown deeper and richer with each new volume. It has been a labor of love!

The heroine:Dez - she is a made vampire that has been alive for quite some time. She has spent the last 200 years living in the Brazilian rainforest, though she leaves every so often to help out some of her friends. She has the rare ability to read other people’s minds, which is even more rare in a made vampire. A few years ago, she helped some friends including Bas, who had another vampire and his peons after him, and at the time Bas’s mate Park had a friend Zack who was nearly killed by the people out to get them. The only way to save Zach was to turn him, and Dez helped him through the change which takes a week and is an extremely painful process. During that time Dez and Zach fell for each other, though Dez was used to being alone and wasn’t ready to accept her feelings.
The Hero:Zach - he had fallen in love with Dez after she helped indoctrinate him into the vampire world. Though he isn’t the kind of guy to stick around and be a door mat for someone who isn’t willing to accept him. So he took of on his motorcycle and since then had only seen Dez once when he showed up in Brazil, though Dez still wasn’t ready to admit her feelings, so he left again, telling her if she ever wants to tell him that she loves him, to come and get him.
The Story: Dez always thought she was abandoned, she grew up on the streets and didn’t have a great life before being turned into a vampire. She has always thought that she couldn’t love someone or accept love, because of her upbringing and the fact that the only man she had ever loved in her over 200 years had died and left her alone. Though she recently found out that the formerly crazy first blood vampire named Tamesine is her mother. She doesn’t understand how she isn’t a first blood if that were the case, and she doesn’t want to hear her mothers reasons for abandoning her.
This story got much more complicated than I expected and very early on in the story, when Zack meets Olivia who reminds him of Dez in many ways. Then they travel together to Siberia, where Olivia’s friend has found an ancient vampire burial ground deep under the ice in a cave. The bones are full bodies and the heads are still attached, yet the vampires seem to have died together at the same time, possibly by some sort of illness. There is another storyline about Park and Burne (first seen in Forbidden Days), who have found a virus that infects both humans and vampires and are working in Park’s lab to find out what it is and how to eradicate it. So it was pretty obvious these storylines would come together at some point, but they were both very interesting. As was the storyline about Dez being a first blood and her life contained some huge surprises that I wasn’t expecting.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and was narrated in solo narration by Pyper Down. I usually hate solo narration, but I like her voice and she is great with different voices and accents so you can easily tell what character is speaking at any given time. Though I don’t like all her accents, they sometimes make nice people sound to uppity. Even so, I have really been enjoying the audiobooks in this series.
Daydream Believer book 10 The Firsts Series by C I Quinn
Absolutely riveting series by C I Quinn, dramatic, heartbreaking, funny and intriguing storylines that will have you turning the pages to see what happens next for them all!😍 I highly recommend this fantastic series 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
This is the 10th book in the series and it hasn't lost its power to draw you in. Great book with a good plot and lots of intrigue. I loved the characters and appreciate getting to know them from reading the books in order.
Im so glad this series just keeps going and going because I can tell you right now that im hooked and will buy every single one!! Keep em coming you never disappoint!!!
I tried but despite how crazy all the kidnappings and deceptions and lies etc. in all the other books got to me at times I gotta say this one was my least favorite.... Mainly because I tried but I can't stand the selfish and self absorbed Dez,I mean I know she had her moments where she did shine and help but honestly I can't stand her,or the whole I'm a bad ass just because I can't dane to show my feelings "I'm too tough for that" BS!!! True strength is what she did to save Olivia or what Tam has been brave enough to do for server so books now, true strength is to say be able to rise above the crap life can dump on you like being unwanted at birth and just randomly given away ( not what Tam did p,she honestly WASN'T able) being physically, sexually,or mentally/emotionally abused and then trying pull your shit together and being a loving person like Tam tries to be ..... It sure as Hell is this living big for over 800 hundred years ( average human doesn't live a 10th of that unless their lucky) and still used your messed up past as an excuse to be a bitch.... Dez was such a hypocrite wanting to hold the past against Tam ( most of which had NOTHING TO DO WITH HER!) even why she could keep should have been more than understood especially she said she was rather relived her son had died because SHE wasn't up to being a mother NOT incapable like Tam was not just didn't feel able and yet she wanted to keep her chip on her shoulder firm,y in place... I like the addition of Olivia and I'm saddened we lost Bernie/Burne, I really like her.. But I CANT stand Dez and poor Zach deserves better, but love can be blind... I love this series soo soo much but even though it was too short to me book 9.5 was a 109% better to me than any w/this much Dez ;(
What a thrilling story! I was glued to my chair throughout this book. I even cried at one point. This story is a paranormal romance thriller! The author totally amazes me as to where these stories take us! I hope this series never ends, it is that good! I find it so comforting to see familiar old friends from one story to the next too!
In this book it is Tam's and Desi's story. Tam's sister had tried to kill her , well actually did kill her and she had lost her baby. That is where this story picks up at. The author, C L Quinn (T C Butts) gives us another fabulous chapter in the First Bloods Saga! I have read / listened to every story in this series so far and every single book is a hit! Never a dull moment, yet every time something happens or a new character is introduced in the family, I never saw it coming! The narrator, Pyper Down is flawless on her delivery of this book and her accents and voices are spot on in each book! I swear I feel like I have my back turned to a movie each time. Kudos to the author for keeping the same narrator for the entire series... You Both Rock!!!
I received this audio book as a gift in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.
Just fab , loved it ! Made me laugh and cry ( cry a lot at certain bits ) and scream no ! That said I appreciate that no one character gets in the way of the superb story line and that is shown in this particular instalment. Can't wait for the next one to see what twists and turns this world takes .
OMG this one made me openly sob like a baby!! I ugly cried and screamed out several times!!! I love Dez and I am so glad her and Tam reconciled...this was a very emotional listen and I am moving on to book 11 now...I love this series!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
1st listen 7/10/16
2nd listen...just as wonderful, yet heart wrenching too....on to book 11!!
This is a unique, interesting and well-written series. The stories keep getting better. The author does a great job of introducing new characters but also keeping the original characters in her stories. Highly recommend!
For anyone who has read this series you are missing a great one. Ms. Quinn has brought the characters to life once again. Each book in the series draws the reader into the story like you are right there. I can't wait for the book.
Quinn does it again! I can't even find the words to express how great this book has been. The journey has been unbelievable. I would recommend this series. From the very first book to the last......it is worth every last penny.
Dez's book finally!!!!! Loved loved loved it. Dez is my second favorite next to Park. C. L. so did her justice. Full of shockers and way emotional scenes....Such a well written story.
I love these vampire novels. these stories are about the first bloods, which are the born vampires. I highly recommend this series. this is the 10th book in the series and on to the next.
