They met on the worst day of their lives. They shared one perfect night. And by morning…she was gone.
He didn’t get attached. He definitely didn’t get obsessed. Until her.
Billionaire single dad, Deacon St. Claire liked control, routine, and zero emotional risk. Jenna Thomas? She was chaos in the form of soft smiles, stubborn independence, and he couldn’t stop thinking about her. Her warmth, her fire, the way she saw through him made him want something real for the first time in his life.
Jenna Thomas didn’t do chaos. The single mom did schedules, responsibility, and absolutely not falling for dangerously charming, ridiculously attractive strangers in dimly lit bars. That night? A one-time lapse in judgment.
No names. No expectations. No strings.
Until the universe decided it would be hilarious to drop her no-strings night smack dab in the middle of her small-town life. Now she knew his name and the fact that eighteen months later he happened to still unfairly attractive, completely off-limits, and somehow even harder to ignore when every glance felt like a warning…and every touch felt like a promise.
Jenna didn’t do relationships. Deacon didn’t fall.
But something about her made him break every rule he’d ever lived by. And she feared this time, walking away wasn’t an option.
Addicted to Love is a Billionaire/DirtyTalking Hero, Forced Proximity, Opposites Attract, Single Mom/Single Dad, He Falls First (and hard) small town romance.
NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author Melanie Shawn writes HEAs filled with sweet and sassy heroines, heroes who are cinnamon rolls in the streets alpho-holes in the sheets, casts of supportive *cough: meddling* friends and family who put the fun in funny, toe-curling combustible heat, and sugary sweet “aww” moments that will have your hearts and e-readers melting.
What started out as the worst day for both Jenna and Deacon ended on the most positve of notes. They met each other, clicked right away, and had a one night stand. Neither gave the other their names and there was no way to find the other. Move to a later time and both of them have moved to Hope Falls, not knowing that the other is there. They run into each other again by chance. Deacon knows right away what he wants and makes moves to get it, Jenna. Jenna has lost all trust and faith in men and no matter what steps Deacon takes towards a relationship, she pushes back and puts their relationship in reverse. In Addicted to Love, you will get a chance to see old relationships with some of your favorite stories. However, its the fight for love of Deacon and Jenna that will stay with you.
Addicted to Love is the final book in the Hope Falls: Main Street series, but it also perfectly sets us up for the next series to begin!
Jenna Thomas couldn't have had a worse day. Her mother passed away and she discovered her husband and best friend were having an affair. When she goes to a bar, she meets a "bartender" who she connects with immediately. She learns that he just buried his parents that day, which is another way they bond. She figures out he isn't actually a bartender, and they end up spending an amazing night together, but before she finds out his name or allows there to be an awkward morning after, she takes off.
Jenna ends up moving to Hope Falls where she owns a salon and is raising her teenaged daughter. Without knowing it, the man she had spent the amazing night with 18-months earlier has also moved to Hope Falls to connect with his newly found siblings. Deacon St. Claire, who is a billionaire that prefers to fly under the radar, is raising his five-year-old daughter and working on settling in to smaller town life.
When Jenna and Deacon finally realize they are in the same town, the chemistry is still there, but now that Jenna knows who Deacon is, she wants no part of a man with that kind of money and the ability to hurt her. Jenna does everything to avoid their connection, while Deacon is looking for any way in as he knows this connection is special. When Jenna's daughter starts babysitting for Deacon's daughter, that changes the playing field again. Will Jenna and Deacon be able to make something work between them?
I genuinely liked both Jenna and Deacon and understood where both were coming from. They both had been through a lot with their families and taking a leap of faith took guts. I loved both Blake and Tabby! The girls were so great and added so much to the story! I always enjoy coming back to Hope Falls and I already am looking forward to the new series that will come from characters we met at the end of this book!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
This latest addition to the series is one that belongs to Deacon St Claire and Jenna Thomas. On the night of her mother’s death and the day she caught her husband with another woman, she goes to a bar. She has an instant connection with the “bartender” whose day has also been one filled with emotions . He has just buried both his parents. Neither identified themselves , had a memorable one night stand and Jenna left the next morning. She never knew that the man she’d spent the night with was billionaire Deacon St Claire. Had she known, she likely would not have taken up his offer. Jenna, moved to Hope Falls over a year ago and owns the local hair salon and unbeknown to her , Deacon has moved there as well. Both for different reasons. When they meet again , it was a moment filled with confusion , and resurgence of the feelings they thought they would never have again. Convincing Jenna to take a chance on them, a woman whose childhood and life in general has been one of disappointments and needing to take charge of her life and her daughter’s, will be almost impossible. As we watch these two overcome their past and their feelings, the emotions are run high. Will they find their HEA or Jenna continue to fear losing herself in another man? I have too confess that I almost stopped reading the book after the first chapter since it contained more BDSM than I personally cared to read. But as a faithful reader of the stories by this author I cautiously continued to read it and finally got engaged . I am sure others will have no issue with it. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Jenna and Deacon shared a night together 18 months back. Thought it’s been 18 months, they still can’t stop thinking about each other. Unbeknownst to each other, they end up in Hope Falls and as luck would have it meet once again. Jenna and Deacon have an intense connection but Jenna has issues that stop her from exploring the attraction, Deacon on the other hand is not willing to give up so easily. I absolutely loooveed this book ! Deacon and Jenna share a connection unlike anything. Their relation kept moving 2 steps forward and a step back which was sometimes frustrating but did not stop me from rooting for their HEA. Blake and Tabby were adorable- just loved the 2 girls. I loved how the whole town is connected is some way or another. This book ends one series and hints at the start of another. And I hope we keep visiting Hope falls in Lockhart Ranch Series too.
A beautiful way to end an amazing series. I’m sad to see Hope Falls end, but Deacon and Jenna’s story was the perfect, heartwarming finale. Their connection was made even more believable by the way they navigated their lives as single parents, juggling reasonability’s while falling in love. Their journey from beginning to end was just a beautiful, touching and believable read. Highly recommend. A 5-star read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Such a great end to this beloved series! Deacon and Jenna shared one night 18 months ago. Unbeknownst to either of them, they both end up in Hope Falls! Each of the books in the Main Street series overlap a little, it's a wonder how Shawna could keep track of what was going on as she wrote them... A new series is on the horizon!
Loved this book. Have thoroughly enjoyed each book. Loved Deacon from previous books and also Jenna. Love how the books connect. I have read every Hope Falls book and although sad that the series has finished Melanie has teased us with a new series.
Perfect in every way! Swoon after swoon, feel after feel. So much connection. Feels sad to say goodbye to Hope Falls, but feels perfectly apt too. Can’t wait for the next phase
Addicted to Love was the perfect beach read for my vacation! I love Hope Falls and am sad to see it come to an end. Deacon and Jenna’s story was everything you’d want in a finale of a series though. A great story, smoking hot chemistry and a visit with old Hope Falls friends.
Addicted to Love is another beautiful story with fantastic characters and a fantastic storyline. It keeps you wanting more from the very first page. Deacon is a single dad that kind of carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. He’s a take charge, protective, dependable man that prefers to focus on others than worry about himself. Which is how he comes to meet and take Jenna home for the night. Jenna is a woman that just found her husband in bed with her best friend and after driving away from their house she finds herself at O’Grady’s bar which is where she meets the handsome sexy Deacon. It was supposed to be just a night of forgetting and enjoying hot sex. Who knew 18 months later they would be living in the same small town. Can they resist each other, or will their chemistry be too much to resist? Can they finally find their HEA? Another A++++ from Melanie Shawn. Highly Recommended!
I think this just moved to my favorite Melanie Shawn book! I don’t even know how to put into words why. Jenna and Deacon were meant to be and yes they had a shaky way of getting to the HEA but it happened. You also can’t leave out Tabby and Blake. It was great to have other couples show up too.
This had my absolute favorite micro trope. A very well placed MINE. Not only did this one have a fantastic one mid-read, but a VERY adorable Yahtzee of them at the end. Adored it.
Awesome Read - one night stand, move away from a husband and bestie cheating, to finding the one night stand across the country. This book will melt your heart.
Addicted to Love by Melanie Shawn is a charming and engaging romance that pulls you in right from the start. The chemistry between the characters is electric, and their banter adds a fun, lighthearted touch throughout the story.
The pacing keeps things moving, with just enough emotion and tension to keep you invested without feeling overwhelming. While a few moments felt a bit predictable, the overall story was enjoyable and satisfying.
A great pick if you’re looking for a feel-good romance with heart and a touch of humor. 💕
Addicted to Love is the fourth novel in the Hope Falls: Main Street series by Melanie Shawn. This story follows the beloved Jenna, Blake's mom and Asher's ex and Deacon St. Claire on their journey to love.
Hope Falls has been apart of my reading life for so long and I absolutely loved the ending to these multiple series! Jenna and Deacon were so cute together with Blake and Deacon's friends serving as the masterminds to saving them from themselves!
There were some twists here that I wasn't expecting and I loved that too! What a ride the Hope Falls: Main Street series has been!
Addicted to Love is the 4th and final book in Melanie Shawn's Hope Falls: Main St. series and at the current time the author says the final book and series in the long running Hope Falls series which she began writing years ago with her late sister Melanie. Normally I'm mildly critical of series ending stories where the author doesn't include all the couples from previous stories in the series in the final book. But in fairness to this author, she does manage to include all the characters from the previous 3 books in this series (including Yaya Costas my favorite scene stealing secondary character) and even several from previous series under the Hope Falls umbrella. Two of which are Asher and Eva who first appeared in the Brewed Awakening Series. In this story Asher is Jenna's (this stories female protagonist) ex-husband and father of their now 15 year old daughter Blake. Eva his wife (and silent partner in the Brewed Awakenings Coffee shop run by two of her 3 sisters) ends up being Deacon's (this stories male protagonist) therapist. Jenna first showed up as a secondary character in Asher and Eva's story in the Brewed Awakings series and then like them went silent until the Main St. series resurrected thier characters. Point being I have to accept the reality that in a series of this length it would have been impossible for the author to include all or even most of the main characters from the previous stories in it. Jenna and Deacon meet on what is one of the worst days of their lives. Jenna's previously estranged mother has passed away in hospice with Jenna keeping vigil at her bedside even though her feelings for her mother are very complicated. Jenna leaves hospice and arrives home unxpectedly to discover her 2nd husband James fucking her lifelong BFF Bree in the sex swing she purchased to try and spice up their love life that James refused to use. After making her presence known to James and Bree she leaves her house and goes to an Irish dive bar to find some peace and numb her turbulent mind with some help from a couple of glasses of wine. There she meets Deacon who after attending his adoptive parents double funeral (car accident) is acting as a bartender filling in for the bar's owner Cillian (who is his lifelong BFF) who has been called away believing his wife has gone into labor with their 4th child. Their immediate attraction is more than physical. It is soul deep. Each sees the other as the most attractive physical specimen of the opposite sex that has ever existed. But its more than that. It's a sense that they can see into each other's souls. Really see them. For Jenna a blond haired blue eyed, hour glass figured buxom beauty who looks ten years younger than her 34 years, this is more than a rare occurrence. For Deacon an extremely handsome billionaire who is used to being seen more for his wealth than his good looks and high character, it is also an unheard of experience. Jenna after a few drinks believing Deacon (whom she only knows as D) is a bartender and held to the same moral and ethical obligation of a priest in confessional not to repeat what is told to them shares things about herself and her life she never shares with anyone. When Cillian returns to his bar to relieve Deacon Jenna is furious to discover he is not a real bartender. She storms out of the bar only to run into her soon to be ex-husband James where an argument ensues. Deacon leaves the bar to find Jenna in the parking lot arguing with James and intercedes on her behalf pretending to be Jenna's longtime friend. James the opportunistic a-hole immediately recognizes Deacon as the famous billionaire and tries to set up a business meeting with him in the middle of his arguement with Jenna. Deacon ushers Jenna into his luxury SUV and offers to take her wherever she wants to go. Jenna has only been with two men in her 34 years and she married both of them. She doesn't do one night stands. But given her overpowering attraction to Deacon and the collapse of her current marriage, the place she wants to go to ends up being his penthouse suite at one of the many luxury hotels he inherited from his adoptive parents. Jenna still has no clue who Deacon is or what his entire name is. She doesn't even know his name is Deacon. Just D When she questions his luxury ride he tells her its a rental which is true. He's only in Boston for his parent's funerals He and his 5 year old daughter Tabitha call Seattle home. When she asks about his jaw dropping luxurious suite he tells her he was comped it. Which is technically true. As it turns out Deacon and Jenna are a perfect match in bed. She wants a man who will take charge in the bedroom and isn't opposed to trying some mild kink out. Deacon likes being in charge and he has some 50 Shades preferences of his own. After a night of the most explosive, satisfying sex either of them have ever experienced, Jenna slips out of bed early the next morning before Deacon wakes up. After her one and only one night stand she is in near panic mode fearing she is just like her late mother. Deacon knowing nothing more than Jenna's first name has no way of finding her. Fast forward 18 months and both are now living in Hope Falls. Although after six months of them both living there, neither knows the other is there. Jenna has heard about the semi-reclusive billionaire Deacon St. Claire who has moved to Hope Falls but has no idea its the same D she spent that passionate night with that she can't stop thinking about. After being screwed out of the two saloons she had owned in Boston during her divorce with James, Jenna has relocated to Hope Falls to be close to Blake whom she shares joint custody with Asher her ex-husband and closest friend, now a Hope Falls police detective married to Ava. There she hopes to start her life over again opening a new beauty saloon which is prospering. As we learned in the first three books in this series the caring and big hearted as well as talented Jenna has quickly formed close friendships with the female protagonists from the earlier books in this series whom were all single when they first met. Deacon has moved there to get to know and be closer to his newly discovered five biological half siblings. He hopes to give Tabby an extended family she can be close to. Of course eventually these two meet and sparks fly. After spending the past 18 months reliving their night together in her head, despite herself Jen ends up taking Deacon back to her house (Blake is with her father and Tabby is with his sister Poppy at his house) having more kinky explosive soul rendering sex. But again as soon as the orgasm fog clears Jenna has a near anxiety attack and tells Deacon it was a one (or two) and done. She needs to focus on spending time with her quickly growing up daughter, building her business and she can't afford to be the focus of small town gossip. The truth is that Jenna is afraid of becoming her mother who had a seriously addictive personality to both men and alcohol and drugs. And after two failed marriages to men she now admits she might have loved but was never in love with, she's afraid to try again. Deacon for his part has quickly decided Jenna is "The One." But other than a few more times when Jenna can't resist her sexual attraction to Deacon, he doesn't know how to get past her walls to make her see they belong together. And this is the one step forward two steps back these two do until near the end of the story when with a lot of help Jenna finally accepts that she's in love with Deacon and he is worth risking a broken heart for.
Jenna had a super bad day and went to a dive bar to forget her troubles. I loved how she took care of the rich college kid who thought she should bow down to him. Then the bartender (at least she thought it was the bartender) came from the back and I think he instantly fell in love! LOL she knew him as D and he gave her exactly what she wanted. She didn’t think she deserved anything good. She left early morning without a note or knowing each other’s name. Jenna and her daughter moved out west where Asher (Blake’s biological father) and his wife lived. I think everyone in that small town was related! Jenna was in town for a year and a half before she met D who was Deacon that she had met back east and was a billionaire. Deacon’s little girl Tabby was so adorable. It was so sweet how Jenna’s daughter Blake fell in love with Tabby and Tabby loved Blake. Jenna and Deacon had such an electric connection, but Jenna had issues from her mother plus her two exes and had a bad perception of rich people. I loved how so many of the adults in town were related, but were just finding out. There were also a few exciting things that happened, some that broke my heart. I have loved reading this series, and I strongly encourage you to read the book
Great second chance love story! Deacon and Jenna first met in an interesting way and honestly they were both what each other needed at the time. The way that Deacon stepped in and took Jenna away from her cheating husband was swoon worthy! They two had an incredible night together, but then Jenna walked away from him. Now, fast forward 18 months, and these two run into each other again and the sparks are still there. Jenna unfortunately feels like she doesn’t deserve to be with someone because of her past and how she was raised with her mom. This poor lady carried so much burden on her shoulders it was painful to read about. Then there’s Deacon, this man has had a interesting last couple of years learning about this adoption, finding his lost half-siblings and reconnecting with Jenna. You can totally see why Deacon needs to be in control at all times and he just loves to control Jenna in the bedroom. These two are so HOT together. To say that these two had a lot to overcome is an understatement, but luckily they have an ex-husband, teenage daughter and younger daughter pulling these two together. This is a wonderful story that will keep you entertained from the first page to the very end.
What a wonderful story - a heart touching, beautiful tribute to this author’s sister and a perfect ending to this series. This book itself was great with the story and Jenna and Deacon and Tabitha (Tabby) and Blake but the pop culture references were so perfect and wonderful additions. From Edward Lewis to Sex and the City to Tangled and Finding Nemo and a huge part being Dawson’s Creek. We have Deacon finding out more about his ‘parents’ deaths in addition to other life changing news, all the support that not only extends to Deacon but Jenna as well. Yaya calling Jenna her barbie girl but I’d have to say Tabby and Blake stole the show. I love how Ash and Jenna have their amazing friendship and how he came to her rescue so to speak when she needed someone and gave her the push to go for what she not only wants but more than deserves. The way this story ended with not only the major Dawson’s Creek connection but the lead into the next new series, beyond wonderful. My only wish would have been that karma would have hit James and he would have ended up having to give Jenna back what he manipulated from her, but you can’t have everything. I can’t wait for the next book. I would give this book more than five stars if I could. #truelove
Wowza!! An amazing finale to an amazing series!! Deacon and Jenna are a sizzling hot couple that go through lots of drama, tears and smoking hot sex!! Sassy teenager and a cute sassy 4 year old makes you laugh!! Deacon and Jenna are the hottest couple in this series and that is saying something!! I am sad that this is the end of Hope Falls but hopefully in the future we can maybe see some continuation down the road!! Loved the jump to Valentines Bay and a whole new series and character that will soon come!! Grab this book and this whole series and fall in love with all the Hope Falls residents!! They make you believe in love and family are everything!!
10 spicy jalapeno stars! As a single mom (spoiler) wanting one night for just for myself was a very nice fantasy to live out. That night coming back 18 months later...wow. Just wow. I was happy to see that Jenna's issues didn't just disappear because Deacon was there for her, she still had all her baggage from years of trauma and was working through unpacking it up until the end of the book. It wasn't a magic overnight fix, but she was trying and he saw that, he saw her. LOVED the girls Blake and Tabby and of course King Rocco. Will definitely be on my reread list. Highly recommend.
*edited: on my first reread I read the dedication, I had no idea about the author's writing/personal history. So sorry for her loss.
**also forgot to add in my original review LOVED the meet-cute kneeing in the balls. Priceless.
Deacon St. Clair & Jenna Thomas As the last book in the Hope Falls series, it lived up to the Hope Falls Effect promise. ✔️ Falling in love with their sole mate “the one”. ✔️ Starting over in your career. ✔️ Leaving a hurtful past and finding a community, friends, and family (lots of family!). ✔️It saved and healed all the broken pieces from childhood trauma. ✔️All the missing puzzle pieces fell into place. Deacon and Jenna are building a wonderful life together with their daughters. This wonderful imaginary community will live on in the series! It sounds like a great way to spend the summer- rereading the entire series!
Loved being back in Hope Falls for Deacon and Jenna's story. Loved that this book overlapped with timing on Hope Falls: Main Street Book 3 but could also be read alone. It was like being able to see book 3 happening from a different POV. Deacon and Jenna's meeting on what was the lowest day for them both, to their meeting again surprisingly 18 months later was a page turner and I could not put it down. The characters were flawed but perfect for each other. I loved how it normalized talk therapy and real relationships. Great book. Loved it!
I enjoyed this story so much! Jenna and Deacon are both complicated characters with a lot of personal baggage, but they're also both very endearing and you find yourself cheering them on to figure it all out and take a chance on something real. Their kids are adorable (including King Rocco). Yaya is delightful as always. The last in the series and a very nice story to wrap things up. Loved this story and can't wait to see what's next!
This final Hope Falls book is the perfect conclusion to this series. The story of Deacon and Jenna is one you don’t want to miss. As an only child, one of my favorite parts is Deacon growing from being an only child to one of ten after he learns of two step families he never knew existed.
