The story of author Jan Pollard as a young girl during the war being evacuated first to her grandmother's house on the coast of England and then with the other young evacuees to rural Hertfordshire.
Written in an easy-to-read format that is accessible to younger readers it covers the fear of war and being away from family without being too full on.

It was simple & easy book to read. I had this story since I was a little girl, read it again. I enjoyed it, it makes you live the moment of each stage of the story. Recommended for children and adults.
