Dr. Blanchard is a speculative fiction author whose work blends emotional intensity with cutting‑edge explorations of memory, causality, and identity. His debut novel, 2nd Iteration, pushes into the frontier of neurotechnology, revealing how altering a single memory can unravel an entire life. From his home in Colorado, he continues to build the rapidly expanding 2nd Iteration universe—an ambitious, multi‑platform world designed for readers who want their science fiction bold, human, and impossible to forget.
What if reliving your past meant destroying your future? I absolutely devoured 2nd Iteration. This is the kind of sci fi thriller that gives you a brilliant high concept premise, then backs it up with relentless suspense, emotional stakes, and enough time travel paradoxes to keep your brain spinning in the best way. Jaxon is a compelling lead because his desperation feels so real, and every decision he makes carries weight. If you love thrillers that blend smart science fiction with heart pounding tension, this one deserves a spot on your TBR.
I struggled to persist with this book. I think it's a really interesting idea and I was really excited when I got a chance to read it. However, I had to force myself to finish in order to give a review. I do feel like the concepts, characters and general ideas of the book are good, but it almost seems under-developed. It didn't draw me in and excite me in the way I thought it would. I think there is real potential however this one just missed the mark, for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC to review.
A fast paced and highly inventive sci fi thriller with a fantastic premise. 2nd Iteration combines time travel, neuroscience, and family stakes into a story that feels both smart and deeply engaging. The suspense builds steadily as every attempt to fix the past creates bigger consequences, making this an easy book to binge in just a few sittings. A great pick for readers who enjoy cerebral thrillers.
Netgalley ARC-I tried to like this one. The premise was intriguing and I usually devour action and science based books. However this one was just off. It seemed only half done, like it was a start to a bigger novel. The dialog and characters were lopsided and kind of sophomoric, and I found myself wanting to put it down for any excuse.
