When an outsider is found dead, peace is the first casualty…

Ruth Schuler has always cherished the quiet rhythms of her Amish life—until a murdered Englischer is discovered near the creek, shaking her community to its core.

While the sheriff believes the matter is under control, Ruth senses something deeper—something no one else is willing to see.

As the spring festival approaches, Ruth begins asking quiet questions… and uncovering dangerous answers. Hidden beneath the surface lie secrets of gambling, land disputes, and long-standing grudges.

But the closer she gets to the truth, the more she risks losing—not only her safety, but her trust in those around her.

And when suspicion touches even Lucas Weaver, the man she is slowly beginning to care for, Ruth must decide…

Will she follow her heart—or the truth?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ruth Schuler has always found comfort in the simple, steady rhythms of Amish life—tending her market stall, baking for her neighbors, and living within a close-knit community built on faith and trust.

But that peace is shattered when an Englischer man is found murdered near the creek.

Though the sheriff arrives to handle the case, Ruth cannot quiet the feeling that something is being overlooked. She has learned, from painful experience, that the truth often hides in the smallest details—and that ignoring those instincts can come at a cost.

With the spring festival drawing near, Ruth quietly begins her own investigation.

What she uncovers is far more troubling than she imagined.

Beneath the calm surface of her community lie secrets no one wants revealed—whispers of gambling, disputes over land, and grudges that have simmered for years. The deeper Ruth digs, the more she realizes that the danger is not outside her world… but within it.

And then there is Lucas Weaver.

Kind, steady, and always nearby when she needs help, Lucas has begun to occupy more of Ruth’s thoughts than she cares to admit. But in a case where no one can be ruled out, even he becomes part of her growing list of questions.

As suspicion spreads and tensions rise, Ruth finds herself walking a dangerous line between loyalty and truth.

Because someone in her community knows what happened.

And they may be willing to do anything to keep it hidden.

A gripping start to a brand-new Amish mystery series, The Murdered Englischer is a story of faith, courage, and the quiet strength it takes to stand for truth—even when it comes at great personal cost.

For me, only 2.5 stars.

A simple Amish mystery.
Way too simple.
Clues just fall into her lap.
The police miss a slip of paper but she easily spies it.
"Ordung" (the word) is used like it was an event. It is not an event.
She is told something, a tidbit even, and jumps to a conclusion.
I can't recommend.
Everything is just too easy. Too predictable.
I won't be reading any more of her "mystery" stories.

Cozy Short Mystery

The story was very descriptive, and well-written. I enjoyed this read.
Anyone that likes mysteries, would enjoy this story. The story is about a single, young Amish lady, named Ruth Schuler. She loves solving mysteries. Ruth tends to find herself in predicaments while doing so, though. She's lucky with her best friend Sara helping her try to figure out what she can. However, a new guy to their community joins Ruth, and things become interesting.
This is a good, clean Amish Mystery. A must read, in my opinion.

Mysteries Book 1

Ruth Schuler really knows how to write a thriller like this was. I enjoyed it so much. The characters she wrote about were amazing, and the way she put each one in there character, it fit perfect.I can't wait to start reading book 2. I recommend this first book highly.

Why was the Englischer killed and by whom?

Interesting mystery in Amish country which I didn't expect. Not much is written about the Amish financial situation, so this book brings to light their problems.
Will Ruth discover the murderer?

The book was very different than most Amish novels but I truly enjoyed it.
