One minute Cole Ashford is drawing a nude model in his college art class. Next, a beam of light swallows the entire room and drops twenty-one people onto a wooden raft in the middle of an ocean that shouldn't exist.
The system names Cole the Captain. If he dies, everyone dies. And talents get His professor thinks three times faster than any human alive and runs the crew like a war room. The quiet girl with freckles draws fate cards that bend reality. The sculptor is bonding with a dragon egg that might kill her. And Cole's body grows stronger every single day with no ceiling.
But his real weapon is the Legacy System. Every child he fathers converts one resource into an infinite supply. Water. Iron. Dragonscale. The ocean runs on scarcity, and Cole is about to break the economy over his knee.
The raft becomes a warship. The art students become killers. And the Boundless Sea, which has been harvesting civilizations for nine thousand years, has never seen anything like what's coming.
Harem LitRPG. Progression. Base-building. Ocean survival. No fade-to-black.
I knew this was AI. I thought I might enjoy it well enough if I listened at 3x speed (alexa) and didn't pay too close attention to some details.
The problem is that the numbers and stats are largely meaningless and it effects the plot and drama.
I feel like the stories gaslighting me. Giving me almost random numbers and pretending they mean something unrelated to their actual amplitude.
*slight spoiler*
At one point he gives some of his constitution for something, taking him down to 9 (which was about where he started). After which he displays weakness as if constitution was the only stat for everything. Not to mention, they treat it like he's crippled or something... even though he has about as much constitution as he had before all this began.
Then he stares at the 'shop' pining away for something he has no reason to wait for.
The errors in this book make it nearly unreadable. It’s a shame because the premise has real potential. If you choose to read it, then ignore most of what the System says, durations and cooldowns are stated but don’t apply. We had to sit through him choosing his second unlimited item twice. There are supposedly 20 girls but only about 10 matter beyond the occasional headcount. It’s just frustrating
Several times things happen in an order which is clearly not intended. It says at the start Tessa was in a bath, not in class... But Cole had just talked to her in the class and she spoke right before the light. Early on Cole calls the raft titan but they don't actually name it for several more chapters when they upgrade. Needs a thorough re-editing
