These two met when Lilith was sent to the hospital, and Alaric treated her. He made sure she was taken care of at her age. And Lil went into foster care. I was glad the author made sure my baby got some good foster parents its rare to see a good side of that.
And came out with a sister and a obession for the man who saved her. Years later she had all the info she needs to stalk her man lol.

I love it she was so good she made sure he saw the "sane" parts of her and pretended she didn't care but secretly this girl was sneaking his boxers into her bag and following him 🤣🤣🥰
And when she found out his double side life she fell even harder.

Alaric that man was a stand up guy made sure if anyone hurt his he would make sure they regret it. His test subjects 😈😈😈 oh he made sure those people deserved what was coming to them. And I loved every second. He also thought his Lilith wouldn't want him when that secret was revealed lol. Oh was he surprised when his girl fell more in love.
Two crazy kids 🤣🤣🤣
I also love the bond they shared with the sister I love sibling bonds.

I LOVED THIS.

Lillith comes into Alaric’s emergency room badly beaten and almost broken. He saves her and from that moment Lillith worships the ground he walks on. She finds herself in foster care but when she is an adult she finds and stalks the only man that has ever truly seen her.

Alaric has his own demons and punishes those that hurt others. His cover is a trauma doctor so he can avenge those that couldn’t protect themselves. When he sees a young woman at his hospital one day, he becomes obsessed with having her. Alaric knows he has seen her before and Lillith plans on doing everything to make Alaric hers.

These two were fire together. Absolutely perfect. They saw each other for who they truly were and bonded in such a beautiful way.

“You’re going to come for me, then you’re going to take my cock. My cum. The babies I fuck into you, you’ll take them too. There’s no me or you anymore. Only us.”

Don’t get me wrong this was filthy in the most Eva way but also had such an emotional sentiment to it. I love reading about two broken souls that find and understand each other on such a primal and passionate level. If you’ve read Eva in the past and like her filthy and emotionally damaging at times stories, you’ll love this one as well.

Wanted to love it, ended up just tolerating it.

The math was mathing on paper: stalker girl + vigilante trauma doctor = recipe for a top tier dark romance. So why did I feel so meh about it? I usually eat this trope up for breakfast, and burn through the pages but Alaric and Lilith just didn't keep me in a chokehold and I kept looking for every opportunity to put it down. Insta love struck again, and unfortunately, I remained completely immune.

I loved this book so much. It had a cringy moment or two and he fell in love too fast but I don't care, it took me out of a reading slump and that is more than enough for me.
Lilith was a woman obsessed with her saviour. She became his stalker and everything she did it was with him on mind, he was gonna be hers no matter what.
Alaric was a vigilante that killed abusers that got away from the police. When he saw Lilith again for the first in 7 years, he didn't know who she was and he was drawn to her immediately. He wanted her for himself.
They both had darkness in themselves and they helped each other through everything they went through.
They love was all consuming but so full and rewarding. They would literally do anything for each other

I loved that even though she was the obsessed one, every time he approached her to talk, she acted like she wanted absolutely nothing to do with him and wanted to stay as far away from him as possible 🤣 (according to his POV).

Story 📝:
After almost losing her life, Lilith feels deeply grateful to the doctor who saved her, to the point of obsessing over him for years and stalking him from afar. Eventually, she realizes she’s tired of only watching him from a distance and comes up with a plan to finally make him hers. Starting with moving to the same city and working at the same hospital as him 🫣

Thoughts 💭:
If I thought By Any Means or Fixation was my favorite book by this author, I was completely wrong… this book is on another level 😮‍💨 Deep down, I truly feel like this book was made for me. I had been searching for a book where she was the obsessed one for so long, and I finally found it 😭 and then Eva sends it to me 🥹. I loved Lilith, her personality, and the fact that even though she was the obsessed one, every time Alaric talked to her she acted like she wanted nothing to do with him. Reading Alaric feeling insecure about whether she even wanted to talk to him was so satisfying 🤣

Every single time Eva writes a doctor, I eat that shit up. At this point, she could write the most unhinged, psycho, possessive doctor imaginable, and I'd still be first in line. She just knows exactly how to make me obsessed.

I absolutely devoured Aftershock. I picked it up hoping it'd get me out of my reading slump, and it did exactly that. Once I started, I genuinely couldn't put it down. Every chapter left me wanting more, and before I knew it, I'd finished the whole thing.

And can we talk about Lilith? Usually it's the MMC who's completely unhinged, but in this book Lilith matched Alaric's energy every step of the way. She was just as chaotic, just as unhinged, and I was SAT for it. Their dynamic was absolutely insane because neither of them was backing down. Instead of one chasing and one running, they were both equally obsessed, equally chaotic, and it made every interaction so much more entertaining.

The chemistry was addictive, the tension was off the charts, and the possessive, obsessive energy was exactly what I signed up for. Eva has such a talent for writing morally gray characters who somehow make you root for them despite all the red flags.

This book completely pulled me out of my reading slump and reminded me why I love binge-reading romances like this. If you love psycho, possessive doctors, unhinged couples who match each other's freak, and chemistry that'll have you flying through the pages, Aftershock is definitely one to add to your TBR.

This was an absolute banger as is all of Eva's books! And this has once again confirmed what, I'm pretty sure even aliens in space already know by now — because I've said it so often — THAT I WILL ALWAYS WORSHIP EVA MARKS!
If Harley Quinn disguised herself as a regular hospital cafeteria worker, she would be Lilith and would meet her Joker in Alaric.
These two characters not only complement each other, they REVEL in each others' freakiness and darkness. Never have I ever felt so seen in an FMC like Lilith! Her unhinged yet innocent, humorous and sassy personality that hides layers of pain and childhood induced trauma is the puzzle piece that fits perfectly into Alaric our the criminal mastermind MMC who's a vigilante that unalives the scum of the earth at night and friendly detached doctor in the day!

Lilith:
I love seeing women in male dominated fields so trust me when I say the way Lilith has been stalking her crush, since she was 15 years old, and how she loves him despite his 'secret' was wild, unhinged and so so perfect! I especially love the attention to detail when the secrets unravel and how, no matter what, she never gives up on him though he doesn't believe in himself. She's the literal Harley Quinn except Joker doesn't realize it's her. To him she's a pure, perfect angel who'd NEVER accept him, unbeknownst to him, that she's way more obsessed with him and stalking him is just the tip of her unhinged iceberg.

Alaric:
Our Dr. Lockwood who treats patients with the utmost care and a surgical precision that's also seen in the trials he performs on his test subjects who are the scum of the earth that deserve the punishment that a legal system wouldn't deliver. So, Alaric delivers their victims justice in his own twisted ways. A side of him that he keeps locked away and believes is a side no one can love but he's already in too deep with his Little Devil to give her up. And he will make sure that she loves him again, blind to the fact that she's just as — if not, maybe more — unhinged and twisted as him!

Also want to point out that while there are so many scenes that are quite graphic and many themes portrayed, CONSENT was one that was always number one on the list and NEVER taken for granted! Alaric the man that you are! If "unhinged-ravenous-gentleman" were a type it would be Alaric for sure!

I have no words! Eva Marks keeps outdoing herself! Like girl, seriously, I'm not getting married till one of your MMCs come to life!

First of all, Eva is out here doing the lord’s work, because daaaaaaaaamn, this is undoubtedly the hottest thing I've read in a while, not just that but the story was one I wont forget. 🥹 Eva marks always hits it hard with the dark romance and this story doesn’t let up. It wont be for everyone and that’s OK. This book features child @buse, st#lking, doctor/patient, medical testing on bad bad people, vigilante behaviour and inevitably m#rder 🫠

Lilith, our female main character, has lived a life full of abuse at the hands of her ‘mother” who is an influential person in society. That is until her ‘mother’ puts Lilith in hospital and she meets a young Dr, Alaric Lockwood (lord give me strength). He not only heals this poor girl, but gives her the first sense of safety she has ever known... when her mother goes missing swiftly after Liliths hospital admission this leads to Lilith being taken in by the state. Where she is able to have some normal-ish teenage years, and create her own family in her chosen sister Hope. When they are both old enough to move out of state care, they move to New York. Where coincidentally, or not, Alaric works. Lilith and Alaric become obsessed with each other quickly but they don’t understand the depths of each other’s darkness. The darkness and secrets they both hold are incredibly different to the other, but they are both inevitable to end of up as more than a couple, but one... and damn. Once they learn each other’s secrets, it becomes apparent the lengths they would go to make sure they remain that way.
I ADORE Alaric, he’s possessive, obsessive and unhinged when it comes to Lilith and I love that about him. He would walk across hot coals, flay himself for her without a doubt if she asked. He would do anything for her and I have no doubts about that. Parts of his story with Lilith destroyed my soul and honestly the way they complete each other really makes you feel a “good for them” moment cause lets be real, it is good for them. 🥹🥹

First of all, I'm so thankful that Eva sent me this ARC, because I live and breathe her books. I read most, if not all of them, so it is safe to say that I love her writing style.

This book had a very interesting premise from the very beginning. I have to say, like all her other books, Eva knows how to write an amazing first chapter. It just hooked me from the very start and I loved it. I freaking loved seeing Alaric from Lilith's perspective as a 15 year old. I loved it even more when we found out that Alaric took his revenge on Lilith's mom for what she did. I cheered silently there.

Lilith as a FMC was very well written. I have no complaints about it. Honestly, it felt a little refreshing reading a book where the FMC is the stalker for a change. It was different, if I do say so myself. The obsession was immaculate and she was down bad for her doctor.

Alaric was perfect for Lilith. He was obsessive, possessive and loving but he never hurt her physically or emotionally. He cared for her mental health so much that he only praised her, never degraded her. He was a giant, murderous teddy bear.

Now, in the last 20% of the book, it went a little downhill for me. I expected more tension, more action. But it was slightly repetitive in their actions and in the end, I was not surprised by the epilogue.

The smut? Top tier. If you read Eva Marks, you just know there is going to be a breeding kink, letting aside that age gap is mostly the top trope she is going to write. I love it, really. Age gap has to be my favorite trope in a book.

All in all, this book was good. Fast paced and easy to read. If you want a break from heavily action packed stories, this is a good book to dive into.

El desenlace también me pareció aburrido. No hay un factor sorpresa que te genere alguna emoción.
La protagonista, Lilith, pasa de ser una loca atrevida a convertirse en una sumisa de manual. Yo pensé que íbamos a tener más locura, más tensión, y hasta imaginé que la amiga (hermana del corazón) de Lilith iba a ser la villana. Creí que este libro iba a ofrecer algo más...
Y Alaric no estuvo mal, pero ¿era necesario que estuviera todo el tiempo diciendo que quería dejar embarazada a Lilith?
El spicy tampoco me convenció. Fueron escenas del montón, de las que leemos en muchos libros, sin nada que haga que después las recuerdes.
Respeto, de todas formas, a quienes disfrutaron este libro.

The book starts off well, but around the 40% mark it becomes boring.
The ending felt boring too. There’s no real twist or surprise that makes you feel anything.
Lilith, the female protagonist, goes from being a bold, crazy woman to becoming a cliché submissive heroine. I thought we were going to get more chaos, more tension, and I even expected Lilith’s best friend (the sister of her heart) to turn out to be the villain. I really thought this book was going to offer something more...
Alaric wasn’t bad, but was it really necessary for him to keep talking about wanting to get Lilith pregnant the entire time?
The spicy scenes didn’t impress me either. They felt generic, like scenes you can find in countless other books, with nothing memorable about them.
I still respect those who enjoyed this book.

Eva Marks has quickly become one of my favorite dark romance authors, and Aftershock just proved why. This book completely consumed me from the first chapter.

The role reversal with a female stalker was such a refreshing twist. Lilith’s obsession with Alaric is intense, unsettling, and oddly endearing all at once. Watching her spend years quietly building her world around the man who unknowingly saved her life made for such an addictive read. I loved that, despite being completely obsessed with him, she constantly kept Alaric guessing. Seeing everything from his perspective as he questioned whether she even liked him had me smiling more than once.

Alaric is the perfect morally gray hero—a respected doctor by day with a much darker side that he keeps hidden from the world. As his secrets slowly unfold, the chemistry between him and Lilith only gets stronger. They truly feel like two beautifully broken souls who were always meant to find each other.

The pacing kept me hooked, the tension never let up, and the banter, obsession, and emotional moments balanced each other perfectly. If you love possessive characters, obsessive love, morally gray heroes, and unconventional romances, this one absolutely delivers.

Eva Marks, the queen of dark romance, absolutely strikes again with Aftershock. This was an easy five-star read for me and one of those books that grabs hold of you early and refuses to let go. From the first page, I felt pulled into the intensity of it all—the obsession, the tension, the secrets, and the dangerous pull between two characters who feel inevitable in the most beautifully chaotic way. There’s something so addictive about Eva Marks’ writing that always keeps me fully locked in, and this book was no exception. She has this incredible way of making darkness feel seductive, emotional, and impossible to look away from.

What I loved most about Aftershock was how consuming the connection between these characters felt. Their obsession with each other was layered, unsettling, magnetic, and somehow deeply romantic all at once—which is exactly what I want from dark romance. Every interaction felt charged with tension, every secret added another crack beneath the surface, and I kept turning pages desperate to know what would happen next. I especially loved how morally gray and emotionally complicated everything felt without ever losing the heart of the story. Eva Marks delivered another haunting, spicy, unforgettable romance that completely wrecked me in the best possible way, and I already know this one is going to stay in my head for a while.

Aftershock was a great age gap dark romance novel. Lilith and Alaric met for the first time when Lilith was 15 years old and that set off the entirety of the book already

The story starts 7 years after they meet for the first time, so the age gap doesn’t seem all that wrong afterwards. Seeing Lilith’s life after their first meeting, how she moved on from her trauma and how it shaped the person she was eye opening.

The twist in the story was a good twist, we love a doctor who helps people in need. Lilith’s entire reason for living is Alaric and Alaric’s entire world is Lilith.

This had such a good insta- love/lust and a nice dash of found family integrated in so well. There was some breeding kink sprinkled in there too, not alot but some.

While this book is a dark romance I think it would be a good entry level way to dive deep into dark romance. This story also mainly focuses on the characters love and some of their trauma. There weren’t a lot of spicy scenes, but the ones that were there were written so well. Like really well 😏.

Also as someone who is a doctor and highly vigilant Alaric disregards his intuition a lot. I like this story for the spicy scenes, and the relationship between the main characters.

This book, shocked me left and white. Like book is dark but not very dark.

And the female character she’s killing me. The girl said I’ve been obsessed with this man too long. She moved another state for him. Get the same job as him but at the cafeteria, if that wasn’t enough she stalked him. And found out things she was supposed to find out.

And this man, he didn’t have any other woman in his life he didn’t sleep around, that was tea. And the first time he met her he got obsessed. He said she’s mine. She ain’t going nowhere. And the way you were trying so hard to tell her that he wasn’t not a good person. I was like brother are we seeing the same thing cause the man is that good.

But it did pissed me off was when him found her in his basement and was reading his notebook. He did not let her explain or anything just straight knock her to sleep and I think he handicapped her to bed. And she did try to explain to him, but he didn’t even let her talk. Then when I saw his point of view, I was like huh I get it where he was coming from but still that’s was not oki. He was scared also afraid that she was gonna leave him. That she didn’t love me anymore that she found him disgusting. I was like that was far from the truth. I was like the girl was stalking you for a long time ago. She’s in love with you. But then he listened to her and saw that she did with a lot of him. And that she wasn’t gonna run away. And then we see that they are team partners that they do everything together. I was waiting for the pregnancy and will come at the end. I was like yes thank you. I wanna read that child’s book now, pls.

What’s better than one unhinged, obsessed character you ask? Why not two!
The role reversal with a female stalker was so refreshing. Lilith’s obsession with Alaric, the doctor who saved her life 7 years ago when she was fifteen goes well beyond obsession and is somewhat intense, but also kind of endearing. Add in the fact that Alaric has no idea about the extent of her adoration for him is addictive.

Alaric is a well respected Trauma doctor by day who then lurks in the shadows by night, hunting the abusers of the innocent who end up in his hospital. He keeps this darker side from Lilith (or so he thinks).

Their chemistry is intense and addictive, the obsession with each other is matched perfectly and the spice slaps!

If you love possessive, obsessed characters who are unhinged in the best way and morally grey characters, this one is worth picking up.

And yet again...miss Eva has done it again. And I am obsessed with this book. I legit cannot pick a favorite because the next is always so dang good. And this one is NO different. Both of these characters are incredible. Dr. Lockwood is dreamy, I mean if you love walking red flags like I do? Haha. He definitely has some skeletons in his closet. But when you have someone who creeps in the night, who has a wild hair just as much as he does...you never know what is going to unravel. I was on the edge of my seat every single chapter craving for more and what comes next. I lovedddd Lilith's personality so so much. She was fiesty, didn't take no bull from anyone...I mean when you grow up the way she does, it's totally understandable. But the way she loves? It's beautiful. And if you've ever read one of Eva's books, you know her epilogues are always chefs kiss! Gahhh!!! I loved loved loved this one so much!

Alaric and his FMC completely pulled me into their story. Their obsession with each other was intense from the very beginning, and I loved how their relationship slowly unraveled alongside all the dark secrets and suspense. The chemistry between them was undeniable, and the tension kept me glued to the pages.

Alaric was everything I love in a morally gray hero—protective, mysterious, and willing to do whatever it takes for the woman he loves. Watching his walls slowly come down while he fought his feelings made him impossible not to fall for.

Eva Marks has such a talent for blending dark romance, suspense, emotional moments, and addictive chemistry. Every chapter had me saying "just one more," and before I knew it, I'd finished the whole book.

I've loved every book Eva Marks has written, and Aftershock is another reminder of why she's an auto-read author for me. I already can't wait to see what she writes next!

Aftershock by Eva Marks ARC Review

This was another masterpiece written by Eva and it was refreshing to see the female main character to be the one who has the obsession while Alaric battling with his feelings for her and I loved the way that Lilith was written.

Lilith was unhinged and I really enjoyed the way Alaric made her feel seen and was there was so much chemistry between these two that I adored and can’t wait to read what’s coming next from Eva Marks.

Alaric was the protective one who tried really hard battling with his feelings but couldn’t stop falling for her but the way these two captured my attention when I started this story got me hooked onto these two and will be going back to re reading this as this was a 5 star read!

The spicy scenes between these two were once again beautifully written and it showed that these two have a bond that neither can deny and it’s beyond obsession and I am waiting to see what’s coming next.

Alaric completely stole the show for me. The way he loves Lilith is absolutely feral—intense, all-consuming, and just the right amount of unhinged. He's the kind of man who would burn the world down or sacrifice himself without hesitation if it meant she was safe or happy. His devotion never feels uncertain for even a second.

Their journey wrecked me emotionally more than once. They understand each other in a way that nobody else could, and every heartbreaking moment only made their bond feel stronger. They're chaotic, they're complicated, and they probably make terrible decisions together—but somehow they're exactly what the other needs. I couldn't stop thinking, "Yep... they belong together." 🥹🖤✨

Wow Lilith and Alaric’s story was absolutely phenomenal! It also hit a bit close to home with the trauma they both went through as kids. Seeing them hiding things from each other because of their past and how it still affected them years later was absolutely upsetting. Alaric did not think Lilith would understand his need to get redemption for his patients and Lilith was terrified Alaric wouldn’t want to be with her once he found out about her watching him for years, but when they finally came clean with each other it created the most amazing bond and it was beautiful. Alaric was such a caring and loving man and put his all into caring for his patients and Lilith, but when he wanted to get spicy he got really dominant and showed her how much he would put her before himself.

Llegue a el gracias a TikTok y me la pasé bien raro leyéndolo.

En esta historia los papeles se invierte, porque Lilith:
1. Lleva tiempo obsesionada con él.
2. Lo stalkea.
3. Compro un departamento cerca de Alaric.
4. Consiguió trabajo en el hospital en el que el trabaja.
5. Tenía a alguien para que investigara cosas de él.
6. Le robó los boxers jajaja
7. Descubrió su secreto obscuro y no aún así se quedó, es mas, anhelaba que el se lo revelara para así poder ayudarlo.

Y TODO ESO, HIZO AL LIBRO MUY GENIAL JAJAJAJ
y Alaric no se queda atrás…también está súper obsesionado con ella, y nada de lo que ella haga va a cambiar su opinión.

Fue un libro muy loco que disfrute…sin embargo, a partir del 75% lo sentí pesado y apresurado, si bien me encantó su relación toda unhinged, no me agradó mucho la reacción que tuvo Alaric cuando se enteró que Lilith sabía de su secreto.
De ahí en fuera el libro estuvo bastante entretenido. Me hubiera gustado que le metieran más drama jaja🤭

You know how there are just some books that are so good that 5 stars just isn’t enough… that’s this book.

Aftershock had me gripped from the start and unable to put it down. I absolutely loved the characters and the way they supported each other when battling their demons, accepted each other for who they were and how utterly obsessed they were with each other. I honestly never wanted this book to end.

Lilith went through so much in her past that you were rooting for her to have her happy ending with Alaric.

Alaric was so supportive and understanding when it came to Lilith and her past all the while having his own demons and a darker side that he keeps hidden from everyone.

I can’t recommend this book enough

My fourth book from Eva! I hope I don't even need to say she’s my comfort author, because she absolutely is... I’m so happy I got the chance to read this as an ARC!🖤

It’s a female stalker x doctor romance. After Alaric saves Lilith’s life, she becomes completely obsessed with him, and 7 years later, she decides to start stalking him. Alaric is a doctor, but he has a second job: torturing the families of his patients who were victims of abuse. An absolute angel to me? And to think he viewed himself as the villain when we literally need people like him! Their relationship was amazing—I think they might be the highest libido couple I’ve ever read about🔥🔥The angst near the end stressed me out so much, but luckily, they made up right away. It was absolutely perfect for me!🥹🖤

I can’t get enough of this author! I absolutely devour anything she writes and this one had me wrapped around it. Alaric saved her life when she was on the verge of death from her awful mother and from the point on she never forgot him so when she was finally stable and obviously old enough she moved closer to him with her sister and our little stalker made her way into Doctors point of view and it was came over because on the outside Alaric looked like a normal man but deep down he was a killer but not for bad reasons what he was doing was taking the trash out in a way. He had to have her even thought he knew it was wrong to bring her into his world, secrets get revealed and connections become so much more stronger. It was so good! I can’t wait to add this one to my shelf at home!

had the pleasure of reading Aftershock as an ARC reader❤️ and it was such an emotional and suspenseful ride! The story kept me engaged from beginning to end .and I really enjoyed the character dynamics and the tension throughout. If you’re looking for a romance with mystery, emotional depth, and plenty of twists this is definitely one to pick up.
