Revelations is an expansive and ambitious work that immediately signals its scale through both its length and its thematic weight. At 806 pages, it presents itself as a deeply immersive reading experience, one that appears designed to unfold gradually and reward sustained attention.

The novel’s greatest strength is its sense of scope. Rather than relying on quick pacing or surface-level storytelling, Holden commits to a broader narrative structure that suggests layered character development and a carefully constructed progression of events. This kind of long form storytelling typically allows for deeper emotional investment, and readers who appreciate detailed world building or complex thematic exploration will likely find value here.

There is also an underlying sense of intention in the title itself, implying themes of discovery, truth, or transformation. While the book’s specific genre positioning is not immediately clear, the framing suggests a narrative that engages with significant personal, philosophical, or possibly spiritual undertones.

As a reading experience, Revelations is likely best suited for readers who enjoy immersive, slow-burn narratives and are willing to commit to a substantial text in exchange for depth and scale.

Overall, it stands out as a serious, large scale literary effort that prioritizes breadth, depth, and sustained narrative engagement.

“I never said he was my lover, but he is loved, by many. I just hope he realises how much he’s missed before it’s too late.”

After the King’s shocking murder, cracks in the fragile peace Elspeth had been fiercely protecting start to spread. She must rely on her brother and the very person who betrayed them for her own survival while explosive secrets start to surface.

The kingdoms survival is dependent on the ability to outsmart and out negotiate their allies, will Elspeth be able to keep to save the future? Who will shockingly betray her?

Book two of the Succession series and this book had my jaw on the floor. While I’m utterly obsessed with L.B’s writing, she is such an incredibly smart writer. The TWIST in this book had me completely shocked and I absolutely did not predict it at all. I love all the different characters, kingdoms and locations, the writing is immersive, the different points of view, it has all the things I love in a fantasy/romantasy book.

The royalty and family lore, politics and also fight for survival, betrayal, the book is so jam packed and truly is so exciting and different to read.

Thank you so much L.B. for this ARC and I now will attempt to patiently wait for the next one!!
