The secret is out.

Magi no longer hide in the shadows, and the world is breaking fast.

Fear spreads. Alliances shatter. Magi choose sides as humans prepare for war, and the spark holding the match at the edge has a name: Emma Thompson.

She's powerful. Watched. Feared.

Hunted for reasons she doesn’t understand, Emma’s life fractures, leaving her with more grief, more trauma than she ever believed she could survive.

In the wreckage, she’s forced to choose:

A bond needed to endure what’s coming.

Or the love her heart refuses to deny.

A choice that will either save the people she loves…or ignite the war to come.

Scarlet Wars, the third book in the Sapere Series, is a gripping romantasy filled with rising war, forbidden love, and impossible choices—where magic stands exposed and love defies every rule.

4.5 ★

Release date: June 5, 2026

My gosh! This series is so underrated! Granted, Sorcha is an indie author, an amazing one at that. I haven’t felt this way about a romantasy series in a good while. The books just kept getting better and better as I went on (trust the process)! I swear, that war had me so stressed out. I was on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the plot so much too!

The pacing was perfect, the characters were lovable and emotionally layered, and the story was so engaging. There are missions, scheming, politics, and unraveling secrets. I couldn’t stop reading. I want more!

I absolutely loved Caden and Emma together. Their romance was so angsty, heart-stopping, beautiful, and devastating. The push Emma gives was so understandable, and Caden’s pull was irresistibly sweet. The ending of the book broke my heart.

And James… wow. I’m so ready to read more from his POV, because what was that with you-know-who?! I’m already loving them!

I need book four! I want it!

“Clearly the appropriate response to nearly dying is immediately running toward the next life threatening situation.”

And the next. And the next. Without question. Fighting for a future that feels inevitable. Fighting against your heart. Fighting against yourself and everything you thought you had figured out.

A full scale war is blooming. To secure a future that is no more set in stone than sands drifting on a beach. A future some want to twist to their own advantage in the name of power and obedience.

Emotions and tensions are so high in this book. And no matter which way you turn, you will be questioning someones motives or loyalty.

I was granted early access to this and now I’m on pins and needles.

The amount I relate to this series is too real at times. This book in particular, I cannot explain how clearly grief is represented. Sorcha gave us such raw emotion and she presented it fully while writing it beautifully.

It’s not a light read, I mean it’s about war, come on.

It’s also about being a person, those feelings we run from and have to learn to face. It’s about love, loss, fighting, and acceptance. It’s not just war, it’s everything that comes with. We have to feel the hurt to move past it and this book has a ton of character growth, where they have to learn to feel, and they are all still growing in the end.

Emotional damage guaranteed, but beyond worth it.

Miss Sorcha Reagh… girl… we need to TALK because WHAT WAS THAT ENDING???!!!! My jaw was literally on the floor like EXCUSE ME??? 😧

Okay okay, I have so many thoughts. I LOVED this book. I will say it’s definitely heavier on the plot this time and the romance takes a bit of a back seat, but honestly… I didn’t even mind. The storyline was doing the most in the best way.

Emma… babe… I was going THROUGH it with her. The amount of trauma this girl has been through and is still dealing with?? It’s a lot. And then this book said “let’s add more” 😭 like she is literally a magnet for chaos. I felt so bad for her, but at the same time… the way she had Caden stressing??? Girl PLEASE. Because in what world are we even thinking about walking away from that man???

And Caden… MY BOY. Oh my god I love him. I love him so much it’s actually a problem. He is so painfully down bad for Emma and she just keeps putting him through it. And look, I understand why… but also that’s my man so I’m taking it personally 😭 but that ENDING??? WHAT THE HELL. HOW are they coming back from that??? I genuinely need answers immediately.

And yeah okay, I’ll mention James… he’s not my fave, I won’t lie. I do like that there’s a potential love interest there because it softens things a bit, but let’s not forget the way he treated Emma because I’m still side eyeing him hard.

I have SO many questions and I know (I hope) they’ll get answered in book four but now I’m just sitting here like… cool… guess I’ll suffer while I wait 🙃

The fact that I have 80% of this book highlighted reflects on the fact that I LOVED every single sentence. (Or that I need to improve my annotation skills.) 🤔📑

📖 This series is one of my favorites. It is so unique and unlike other dystopian/Romantasy books I’ve read. While book 3 ends on yet another cliff hanger (in true Sorcha fashion 🤪), this book does reveal several big questions from previous books. The plot has more twists and turns than the Superman ride at Six Flags… and I can’t tell you how many times I said, “wow. I did not see that coming”. I feel like Sorcha’s pacing in the plot is spot on… & if you love SJM for her plot twists and pacing, you’ll love this series!! After reading book 1, I compared it to Crescent City… and that comparison still holds true! Sorcha created the coolest, most intricate magic system I’ve ever read.

I’m still speechless about this book. And I’m going to need 7-10 business days and a few bottles of wine to recover. (And for Sorcha to camp out in her writing area and spit out book 4 ASAP.) 🍷🥃

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. We finally got more spice, as Emma chooses where her heart belongs. I won’t deliver spoilers… but Sorcha had me clutching my pearls and grabbing my glass of sweet tea to cool off with the level of heat produced in this book. 🔥🌶️🥵

Sorcha- I’m so thankful to be a part of your arc/street teams. Over the last year and a half… I feel like I know you. And your books just read like you. Your sarcasm and slightly unhinged lines make your writing uniquely your own… and I love it! ❤️🫶🏻📖 Also, I felt your trauma coming out onto the page through Emma with the losses she dealt with in this book. It was sad and painful, but beautifully written. I know it must have been so hard to confront those tragedies you faced and place them within this story, but I hope in the end it gave you some peace and acceptance from it all. Love ya, friend! ❤️🫶🏻

My poor heart can't take much more of this series, but I devour these books EVERY SINGLE TIME. Perfection.

Following on from Silver Tiers, there is action from the very first page. They are on the brink of war, not just with humans but within themselves. You are pulled straight back into a deeply immersive world where the ever moving strings of fate make you question how much can really be changed, and how much of your destiny is truly your own choice.

The pacing is fast, perfectly capturing how hectic and desperate their situation has become, with constant action and conflict throughout. At the same time, there are softer moments woven in, with simmering tension between the characters and a found family dynamic that is written beautifully.

The characters are going through absolute hell. Emma’s resilience is genuinely admirable. She always finds the strength to keep going, pushing past fear, growing into herself, and becoming more powerful with every challenge.
Caden not only supports women’s rights, but their wrongs too. He consistently backs Emma’s choices and gives her the space to grow, regardless of how complicated their feelings are. His cocky humour adds a much needed spark of joy, even in the darkest moments.
The friendships between all of the characters are beautifully written and their love for eachother really shines through and if anything happens to Sean I will throw a fit.
James was there.

This book is written in a way that makes you feel everything. I wanted to cry, laugh, and scream all at once. It is packed with drama and completely impossible to put down.

I loved it, I need book four immediately. Once again, that ending was brutal, I am speechless and I need answers.

If I could give this infinite stars I would.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I just finished this book… and I’m still sitting here trying to recover. 🖤🔥

You know how people say, “Did you finish the book, or did the book finish you?”
Yeah—this one didn’t even hesitate. It hit me like a brick with zero warning and just left me there to deal with it. ⚡🧱

What makes this one hurt so good is how the first two books set it up. Every piece of character development, every quiet moment, every fracture in these characters—it all builds into something that feels inevitable and devastating in the best way.

The internal battles between the main characters? You feel them.

The tension, the restraint, the almost-but-not-quite of the romance… it’s that slow, aching kind that keeps you completely hooked. ❤️‍🔥🥀

And then there’s the emotional weight—every conflict, every choice, every consequence lands exactly where it should. Nothing feels wasted. The trauma, the growth, the fights they’re forced to endure… it’s written in a way that pulls you in and doesn’t let go. 🕯️🩸

The storytelling itself feels intentional, layered—like everything matters and everything is leading somewhere bigger. It’s the kind of writing that lingers in your head long after you’ve closed the book. 🔮

I genuinely can’t stop thinking about it.
I love being one of the first to read it… but I also kind of hate it, because now the wait for book four is going to feel unbearable. 👑⚡

But honestly? That just means I get to go back and reread the entire series—and this time, really sit with every detail, every hint, every moment I might’ve missed the first time.

Because this is the kind of story that doesn’t just pull you in…
it stays with you. 🖤📖

I have not known peace for 7 DAYS because @sorchareagh clearly decided my emotional stability was optional 💀

I started Scarlet Wars for fun and ended it personally attacked and in a full debilitating reading slump 🫠

This 800-page monster somehow never slows down 😂 Just a devastating cycle of unpredictable plot twists, betrayal, grief, emotional damage 😭

Then there is me staring at the wall at 2am trying to process what the hell just happened 😑

Emma is officially my favourite FMC ever. Sarcastic dark humour, “don’t test me” energy, and carrying far too much trauma while still putting others first 🥹.

Watching her fight for herself and her agency while the world kept trying to break her? Exactly the kind of high I needed 🙌

And Caden… oh my bloody days!!!!!

Messy, loyal, morally questionable, and unfortunately exactly my type 🙈 What hit was how he never tries to make Emma smaller. He pushes her to be the strong badass he already knows she is ! His faith in her shook me to my core 😩 💓

The found family also ruined me. Rachel, Sean, Jackson… everyone was protecting everyone and I took that personally. I want them to be my family 😭

As a yearning-over-spice reader, I survived the heavier spice with my professional skipping skills and can confirm: it was still just as delicious 😋 with a side of trauma 💀

And that ENDING????? K*ll me now because I’m not surviving wait after that 🫠

The only way I coped after finishing was by making an aggressively detailed playlist based on scenes, quotes, and character dynamics because apparently my healing process is Spotify 🎧 😂

I need Book 4 immediately! 🙌

Preferably with compensation for my therapy bill 😭
📚 Story: 6⭐💔 Emotional Damage: 5/5

There is something genuinely dangerous about a series that refuses to slow down… and somehow gets better with every single book.

Book 3 absolutely consumed me.

Our FMC continues to prove why she is that woman. Ruthless when she needs to be, fiercely intelligent, powerful, sharp edged and completely unforgettable. She is the kind of female main character that commands every scene she walks into and leaves destruction in her wake without apology.

And the MMCs…
TWO men. Both carrying complicated history with our FMC. Both bringing their own tension, loyalty, chaos and emotional damage to the table.

This story is layered with political intrigue, power struggles, betrayals, shifting loyalties, humans and magic wielders colliding in ways that constantly kept me guessing. Honestly, this series feels unlike anything else I have ever read. Every book expands the world in ways that feel bigger, darker, smarter and more emotionally devastating.

And THAT ending?!
The truth bombs. The whiplash. The jaw on the floor moments. The “excuse me WHAT?!” revelations.

Some twists I was so close to piecing together… others left me sitting there wide eyed and stunned, desperately needing the next book immediately.

The writing throughout this series continues to be phenomenal. Fast paced, addictive and impossible to put down while still delivering emotional depth and unforgettable character dynamics.

More than anything, I feel incredibly honoured to be part of this Sorcha's author journey. Not only is she an exceptionally talented writer, but she is also such a beautiful human being and watching her worlds come to life has been an absolute privilege.

This series deserves every bit of hype it gets.

ARC REVIEW

The number of stars could never capture how amazing this book is or how completely it has consumed me. This series only keeps getting better and better with every book, and Scarlet Wars was nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster.

The story continues with Emma Thompson, the most powerful maga to ever exist, both feared and hunted. She's forced to make choices that will either break her or the people she loves. As she tries to unravel everything happening around her, the answers she's been looking for make her fall deeper into the world running on magic, power, and politics. In the middle of everything, there's only one person who grounds her when the world threatens to tear her apart. But can she let herself fall in love with him?

CADEN "let me be very clear because I don't do the fu*king miscommunication trope" COLT🥵 has officially ruined not just real men for me but all the other fictional men as well😭😭 He's possessive, charming, funny, and supports Emma in every step of her way. The only person Emma feels at home with. Their chemistry is soooo damn hot, and the yearning was to die for🔥🔥As they grow closer and tension rises between them, the world is doing everything to keep them apart.

This book was darker and very disturbing, with crazy plot twists that kept me awake at night, and I'm still processing everything that happened in this book. Filled with witty banter, sarcasm, suspense, drama, pain, and trauma, a found family that will go to any length to protect Emma, this book will shatter your soul and leave you wanting more. After waiting for so long, I can say that this book surpassed all my expectations. I will never stop reading this series all over again😭😭

Read ASAP!
Absolute best work of art my eyes have had the pleasure of viewing. Reading this masterpiece is equivalent to having every wish you've ever had come true while simultaneously being tortured, because what is pleasure without a bit of pain? Everything within these pages is worth devouring, in a single weekend with breaks to stuff your face.
We get to finally end the slow burn, but who with? I won't tell. it could be James, or Caden Colt, or maybe Julius came back from the dead 🤷‍♀️, even a stranger. What I will tell you is the spice is to ☠️ for. I'm very much obsessed.
I can also inform you dear readers that the story is amazingly epic in fantastical proportions. Seriously, remember where Silver Tiers left off? SOO MUCH HAPPENS! I was hanging onto every word, every moment.
There is never a single dull moment. Every second is full of Sorcha ( if you've read books 1 and 2 you know what I mean).
The story develops, the characters grow, and there's even more mystery and intrigue to be uncovered in Scarlet Wars.
Everyone needs to grab a copy of these books so you can bless your eyeballs, and submit yourself to a bit of torture 🤣
So thank you Sorcha for allowing me the privilege of reading this book early! I believe you did it to ☠️ me because I have to wait even longer for book 4 now 🤣

I’ve had the privilege of reading all three books in this series as ARCs, and I can honestly say I’VE LOVED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

I loved the first book.
I loveddddd the second book.
And I absolutely LOVED Scarlet Wars.

Emma is such a Queen.

This series just keeps getting better and better with each installment. Every book raises the stakes, deepens the characters, and expands the world in a way that keeps me completely invested.

I personally adore almost all of the characters (except a few, obviously 😌). Emma, Caden, Jackson, and Sean all have a special place in my heart. And after some thought… I guess James can be loved too. 😂

The side characters are just as compelling, and they add so much richness to the story. The plot was absolutely plotting, the twists kept me hooked, and the entire reading experience felt magical from beginning to end.

Everything about this book felt perfectly crafted action, emotion, relationships, and the mystical atmosphere that makes this series so addictive.

And on a more personal note, since Sorcha Reagh is my friend, reading her work always fills me with pride. It makes me so happy to see what a brilliant soul and talented writer she is.

I’m incredibly proud of her, and I wholeheartedly recommend this series to anyone who loves immersive fantasy with unforgettable characters and a story that only gets stronger with every book. 🖤✨📚

This is the third installment and… oh my god. I genuinely can’t cope with how good this book was. By the end, I was physically shaking.

It answered so many questions from books one and two, but at the same time opened up a whole new wave of emotional ones that I was absolutely not prepared for. The politics and magic are so well developed and immersive that you just accept this world as completely real. The different factions were brilliantly executed, and the reveals? INSANE. I did not see half of them coming — I was audibly gasping more than once.

And Caden… that man. I have no words. The things I would let him do are not fit for polite society, but WOW. The mouth on him? I may have slid off my chair a few times, I’m not even ashamed.

But beyond all that, the grief in this story hit so hard. It felt raw, real, and painfully relatable. I teared up more times than I can count.

There are simply not enough stars for this book.

If you haven’t started this series yet, what are you doing? Go. Read it. And then come join me in the emotional distress of knowing there’s still more to come.

Long story short: infinite stars. ✨

Where do I even start? First of all, this is not going to be my final review of this masterpiece, because I can’t seem to find the words to do it justice.

I was one of the luckiest people to get the chance to be a beta reader for this (one of my most anticipated reads of the year). And I hit the jackpot. Truly. Not only because Sorcha gave me this opportunity, but because she trusted me and saw me early on in my Bookstagram journey. I will be forever grateful for that!

Now, I have so many feelings about this book. It was a rollercoaster, a challenge for my soul, but in the best way possible. The way Sorcha writes will always amaze me. She is a mastermind. She created this outstanding world and these absolutely incredible characters that I can’t get enough of.

Yes, I’m still obsessed with this series. Yes, that will never change.
If the first two books amazed me, this one left me speechless.

Once my state of awe settles a bit, I’ll put my thoughts into words. Properly. I promise!

"You didn't ruin me. You rewrote me. You took me apart piece by piece and rebuilt me from wreckage - no mercy, no shortcuts - until I didn't recognize the man staring back anymore. You made me new, Emma."

🔥I have received an ARC of this book and I'm willingly leaving this review🔥

How does one even begin to write a review for such an epic story?

When I tell you that Sorcha exceeded all my expectations, you have to believe me. I didn’t think it was possible to write something even better than Silver Tiers, but I was proven wrong.

Emma is still a very strong female character, in fact, she became even stronger. And I don’t mean just with her powers, but as a person as well. There were some circumstances that forced her to go through so much grief and pain, but they also contributed to her maturity. And yes, she slays in more ways than one. The displays of power and strength... I could barely contain my excitement.

About the love plot... in order to avoid spoilers, I’m not going to name names, but I’m so happy with who she ended up with. He complements her personality so well and truly understands her, letting her shine. As a bonus, right at the end of the book, before everything exploded in my face, he has such a romantic speech... I had to read it multiple times, it was that delicate and strong at the same time Nd I just had to quote a small portion of it. And the spicy scenes... so many, and they were so delicious. We waited two books for them, but it was so worth it, and Sorcha rewarded our patience.

Now... about the politics and the main plot of the book... some questions were answered while others emerged. But the action sections were epic, and I truly felt the tension in every breathtaking fight. And in true Sorcha fashion, I lost count of how many plot twists there were (I’m still mad about the ending and the huge cliffhanger).

I bow down to you, Queen of Plot Twists. You have my heart, and I’m honored that I had the opportunity to read such a special and amazing book. I can’t wait to have the next one in my hands.

I wrote Scarlet Wars, so unfortunately I have no one to blame but myself for what this book put me through.

I started this thinking, “fun little story, nothing too intense,” and instead spent months (almost a whole year even) emotionally terrorizing both my characters and…myself?? For what reason?? Who hurt me??

The plot? Soooo many lines on my whiteboard.
At some point I just accepted that I was no longer in control and these characters were going to make bad decisions regardless of my input.

Speaking of characters... I got attached. Deeply. Unprofessionally. Which is wildly inconvenient when you’re also the one responsible for their suffering.

Anyway, if you enjoy stress, emotional damage, and yelling “WHY” at a book…apparently I wrote a few.

Next time I’ll try to write something calm and well-adjusted. (This is a lie.)

6 STARS, ADDED TO MY GOD TIER!

Ok how do I even start?!

I had the absolute honour of reading an early draft of this book and I was mindblown!

When you have been waiting as impatiently as I have been for a book - and you finally get to read it and it hits all the right spots and surpasses all your expectations - it’s the BEST feeling in the world!
This is exactly how I felt while reading Scarlet Wars.

The first book in this series was great. The second was even better but I feel with this one, Sorcha has truly outdone herself.

Emma comes back stronger and more stubborn than ever. And I could not be more overjoyed to see her journey!

Everything from the tension, the banter to the spice - was sooo well done! 🌶️🥵
The plot twists twisted harder than ever and had me shouting and screaming throughout!

This was, as expected, a brilliant MASTERPIECE!

Wow. This book ruined me (in the best possible way). I screamed, cried, and cursed Sorcha in her Instagram DM's day and night, but I loved every second.

I've mentioned my love for Sorcha's writing style in my review for the previous books in the series, but this book takes it to a whole new level. This part of Emma's story requires her to deal with a lot of hard emotions and I felt every one right along with her. The way grief, especially, was portrayed got to me in a way few books have.

But the same can be said for the positive emotions as well. Emma's snark and sarcasm provide much needed comedic relief from all the trauma, and the tender, romance moments had me swooning.

This is the type of story that never fully lets you go, and I know I will be reading it over and over. I can not wait for the next book.

A massive thank you to Sorcha for giving me the opportunity to arc read your third instalment of Sapere

I didn’t finish this book, it finished me. I crawled into the authors DMs multiple times over the course of reading this book with quotes, unhinged memes and just a general screaming of ‘WHYYYYYYYYYY?!’ I laughed, I cried, I stared at a wall blankly, it was a vibe.

this book was intense! Emma, my sweet dumb emotionally constipated baby, is dealing with a lot and she’s trying her best okay. The spice? Well after being edged for two books, I was ready to explode and guys - the queen delivered, lemme tell you👀

This book hooked me in from the very beginning, gripped me by the arm and said ‘you’re my bitch now’ and I said THANK YOU SCARLET WARS, I am your bitch🤣 Sorcha continues to be a masterclass and continues to keep me on the edge of my seat.

The secret is out…. and the world is breaking ✨🖤

You really have to hold on during this read, it is incredibly fast paced and full of action. I am officially emotionally devastated!! I don't even know what to write without spoiling the plot as there are so many twists!.

I was glued to the pages. I was raving about and shouting at the pages. And this is what books should make you do. You should be living every page. I loved the characters and how layered they were. Their dynamics. I just couldn't guess what was going to happen nor did I really want to as I just wanted to enjoy the ride.

🖤 He’ll break every chain until no leash can tame her fire 🖤

I'm so speechless about my whole experience reading this. Maybe I should've waited before writing a review. But I'm here for Book 4, accepting that I'll be emotionally destroyed again 💀

I adored this story from beginning to end!
sorcha has a way of completely pulling you in and making you completely invested in the story.
one minute I was on the edge of my seat and the next I was laughing out loud.
I adored the main characters, they were the perfect mix of serious, spicy and damn right loveable - my favourite of course was Caden because that man was swoon - worthy!
The twists and turns were amazing, I could never predict what was going to happen and was left slack jawed more than once.
Sorcha smashed it once again and I cannot wait for more!

Wow!!

Book 3 in this series is a gritty, high-stakes, Romantasy. Loved the brutal magic and emotional damage (in the best possible way.)

I need a few days to recover from that ending!!

If you love a morally gray MMC, a headstrong heroine, and sarcastic one-liners that actually make you laugh out loud in between the chaos, Scarlet Wars is mandatory reading.

Book 1 & 2 ads on KU- and also must reads!!

I had the absolute pleasure of Beta reading Scarlet Wars for Sorcha, so I dont know if I can be considered impartial in anyway shape or form BUT I was confused, horny or crying for most of the book.

There isn't a single story arc in this that didnt hook me and hang me from the ceiling. I was its b*tch and I eye gobbled this beast in record time.

This book hit all the notes in all the right places. Love, loss, tragedy, romance, betrayal and acceptence. All the characters in this book have so much depth and growth you feel like you know them and have gone on this journey with them. It was so magical watching all the characters grow and learn more about themselves in such sad and beautiful ways. You will laugh and cry and sigh in relief this book is so good I couldn't put it down!!!

I am still not over the ending of this book, two days later I still think about it. I enjoyed the first two books of this series but this third book blew me away.

There is some resolution in this book about Emma and her past, who is out to get her, and James. However I am left with more questions on who Cara is and how are her and Caden moving forward.

I cannot wait till the next book.

I closed the book and just sat there in silence trying to process what I just read. That ending was ruthless, brutal, and just heartbreaking. (Not sure what word to use here)
Everything felt more intense the entire time and I swear I was stressed reading it but I loved every second. This series just pulls you in and does not let go.
And now I have to pretend to wait patiently for the next book.

ok first time reading this author and not sure where to begin.

now this is well very different from what I would read from a romancy type of book. it is a bit long but there is so much information to cover and it makes the story more intriguing in areas.

over all I did like it. I would be interested in seeing what other works this author has.
