This is the first in the series. The main character is Danell. Danell writes for a travel magazine and she is now at a glamp ground called Birch Haven. She really likes it here and a barista who works at The Roost. When he is found dead, everyone thinks it an allergy reaction gone wrong. But not Danell. She keeps asking questions and finds more people agree with her. When she finally gets enough evidence to take to the cops, she hopes it enough. The cops agree after they listen to her. They start their own investigation. Do they still have time to get the killer before he leaves?
I enjoyed meeting Danell and her little pug sidekick, Shotgun—what a cute name for a dog who did just that, he rode shotgun with her. When a beloved staff member was murdered at the glampground Danell was reviewing, she couldn’t live with the accidental ruling knowing what she heard and saw.
She used her investigative reporting talent to flush out a killer who’d also been planning something else pretty devastating. It’ll be interesting to see where Danell’s next assignment takes her.
I really enjoyed this cozy mystery , complete with an adorable pug ! I loved the campground with the coffee shop, it sounded like a place I’d enjoy visiting 😊
I very much liked the main character! A smart woman! Not always easy to find in books, a woman whose most important characteristic isn't her looks. As well the plot and other characters were just complex enough but not enough to keep you up. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
